I've been wanting to make a Doomguy chapter since I played Doom 4 last year.
Should the chapter be called the The Night Sentinels or The Doomslayers?

I like Night Sentinels but it'll be less obvious of a reference to people who only played Doom and Doom 2.
I'm thinking about Doomguy green as the primary color and silver helmet (Pig Iron Productions Heavy Infantry closed visor helmet)and highlights.

descended from the exorcists or something so they have resistance to the warp and demons?

i think exorcists are better demon killers than the grey knights anyway

plus there is some connect between doomguy and the sentinels with demons that hasnt been fully explained yet so i think it would fit with the exorcists fluff

Doomguy crossover art is the best
>>
>>51899801
>plus there is some connect between doomguy and the sentinels with demons that hasnt been fully explained yet

Looking at the cast we have, there's the Doomslayer, the wretch, the traitor and the son.

Normally the Doomslayer isn't much for letting demons exist for any length of time whatsoever, and he doesn't seem likely to accept gifts from one either. Yet the wretch managed to make a suit of armour for him, make it fit, convince him to wear it.

So the two of them are probably the father and the son.

At the moment my money is on the Doomslayer being the son. Being a daemon of sorts could help explain how he can make it back and forth between Hell and Mars, and how he can sustain himself in Hell. As for the father, what's more wretched than a traitor? And the narration in >>51899607 seems more like a father talking to his son than vice versa to me.
>>
>>51899968
the father and son were both the same thing. a part of whatever race the sentinels

the wretch (you mean the angel thing that teamed up with doomguy right?) was never said to be a demon as far as i know and is presented as very much of an enemy to demons

the son was turned into a demon and can be found dormant in one of the levels its not him. out of the list he could be the father only, but that doesnt mean he is

doomguy may also not be a sentinel, maybe he just got transported to their world during a demon invasion or something because doomguy still seems to be the same human from the other games
>>
>>51899709
What if they discovered the tomb of the doom marine inside the eye of terror, free him and then spend the rest of their days following Doomguy around ripping and tearing through the eye
>>
>>51900014
Where do you find the son?
>>
>>51900014
>you mean the angel thing that teamed up with doomguy right?

"And in his terrible rancor between worlds and through time, the Hell Walker found the wretch who shall not be named, but in his heresy was loyal to his evil cause. The wretch adorned the Doom Slayer in a mighty armor, wrought in the forges of Hell, impenetrable and unyielding."

Sitting around the forges of hell will probably make you daemon enough for the Doomslayer, unless you're currently the chew toy of one, in which case you're likely collateral.

But for the Wretch, he appears to have stayed his hand.

> can be found dormant in one of the levels

Where?

>but that doesnt mean he is

It wouldn't make a terrible lot of sense (especially narratively) to not have him identifiable in the provided lore here, and unless Deag Grav had a serious change of hearth all of sudden we're rather short on candidates.

>>51900190
oh i was thinking that the wretch and the the seraphim were they same thing

>the Seraphim is responsible for giving the Doom Marine strength and speed to fight the demon for eons

>but in his heresy was loyal to his evil cause
what does this mean exactly?

well doomguy can speak english, has english and company logos all over his armor, seems to be the same guy as the other doom games, think time travel is implied, etc etc. im just saying maybe hes just the doomguy, not the father

the only thing that would be weird is that if he really turned out to be the father, since its the only reasonable candidate we have but the game does a lot to keep his identity mysterious. so why go through all that trouble to only off handily mention, oh yeah hes this guy we guess, there you go.

I took it to mean that the wretch was a true demon of chaos and destruction, someone so dedicated to the act of slaughter that it didn't care who or what died. One look at the Doomslayer and it knew violence incarnate.

its a weird name but the icon of sin is the name of a demon. and as your quote shows its the demon that they turned the son into. or maybe its a thing that they used to turn the son into a demon and now that demon is also called the icon of sin. doesnt really matter for our purposes, the son is a demon whos dormant in hell and is not doomguy

During the elevator scene when Doomguy first interacts with Hayden it's obvious that he's angered by destruction caused by the use of Hell energy in realspace. Given the fact that he sabotaged the argent filters despite Hayden's requests I think his motivation now would be to return to realspace and stop him from doing the same thing over again.

The only context in which a space marine is slow is that of the video games.

A cursory google search reveals pic related for Deathwatch rules. Using 30 year old rogue trader rules is obviously very retarded.

Tabletop 40k turns are abstractions and not reliable for this purpose.

The only other option is fluff, which states marines can run really fucking fast when they want to.

Funny, considering you find literal video game stats and rules to be more reliable than the word of various authors who've been fairly consistent regarding marine stats.

>implying GW and BL are in anyway consistent

>>51906088
And using a 3rd party RPG system is a good example of marine stats, and I don't think " marines can run really fucking fast when they want to" is a definitive speed, while the Doomguys speed can be found by looking in his games.

The majority of speed feats are consistent in the 35mph to 60mph range.

You're forgetting that marines aren't manufactured automatons with rigid specs. They vary according to the Deathwatch rulebook.

There's even an in-universe condition called Transhuman dread that happens when one witnesses a marine in action.

What he lost in speed he gained in durability. The Doomslayers armor has to be completed depleted before he starts taking HP damage where previous Doomguy took both health and armor damage. Also he's expanded his arsenal and bag of tricks quite a bit since then.

Not sure about every Marine, but in the Deathwatch novel theres a marine who is shorter than his brothers, and to make up for the lack of height, he got swole, like crazy swole, so swole the tech priests had to refit his armor twice and his captain banned him from getting any swoller. So it might just be that Marines have potential for HUGE GAINS and thus really old and experienced Marines are just towering bulkers

Exterminatus is sensible even in the normal 40K universe, when applied properly and as a last resort.

Chaos incursions can turn an entire planet into a Daemon World if they reign unchecked for too long, from which there is absolutely no going back.

Tyranids, well, no real need for explanation there.

Orks, if they completely dominate a world that has little other strategic importance, are best destroyed via planet-killing ecoweapons that scour it of all life, rather than allow them to keep cropping up on a world for all eternity.

The problem arises when you just starting throwing around Exterminatus willy-nilly just because winning is hard.
