Pathfinder General /pfg/

Have you ever played some tribal/from-the-wilderness character? What kind of cute/cool things did they do to show their ruralness or savagery? Pic related?

So I'm trying to make a character that mimics the mesmer from Guild Wars 1.

https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Mesmer for those unfamiliar.

I'm thinking either Sorcerer with an illusion/enchantment focus, more spells/spells per day, bloodline, or Mesmerist for a more obvious mesmer-y feel, far more skill points, hopefully less squishy.

Can I get some advice on which way to go with this?

I played a Barbarian half-orc last year. He was from the far north and wasn't terribly picky about what he ate. Really, he'd anything out of trash cans, he'd eat bugs, just whatever he found. A few times the Paladin had stop him from eating the enemies we'd just got done killing.

Not terribly original, but it was fairly amusing.

Would you play in a campaign where you help unravel what occurred during Cayden Cailean deific level bender?

I'm laying out a lot of ideas for the Razmir game and had a thought.

We have no idea who Razmir was before he put on the mask and appeared a hundred years ago. We know he is seeking immortality and has been keeping himself alive via Sun Orchid Elixir. He claims to have passed the test of the starstone.

What is Razmir is a great deal older than most people thing. What if he was somehow involved in Cayden Cailean's deific bender. Perhaps he has more than just a claim for the starstone debacle.

Razmir and Cayden are actually pretty good foils for each other.

Just some thoughts I am throwing around.
>>
Anyone got the Heroes of the High Court leaks?
>>
>>51890038
Issue is Cayden became a deity 2000 years ago. That's quite a lot of time for Razmir to be doing nothing.

She is.
>>
>>51890038
It's extremely unlikely that Razmir was alive for that much earlier than his first appearance in history. We know he's not immortal because of the Elixir, but it's also extremely unlikely he'd started taking it before he'd consolidated his rule because his process for it involves a large amount of effort on his nation's end.

Razmir gets some love in here but ultimately he's really he's a pretty small scale character even compared to a lot of AP villains.

Assuming that this thread actually sticks around, I suppose I'll make my advertising post for the day here and hope I get more applicants.

If you're willing to be in a campaign where you play as a group of young Dragonborn adventurers coming together to reclaim artifacts stolen from your tribe, come on down to this link and put in your submission! The actual time of the week we'll be playing is actually still up in the air despite what the listing shows, so don't feel like you can't apply just because you're not available on Mondays.

If you take a look at the link I post in the reply I post you'll see the link to the Dragonborn variants I've created that you can use to build your character. Each color has a different stat array so even though you're all the same species you can still mix it up.

As for why, well, it's been forever since I've seen a campaign made up of something other than only humans that featured only one species. I thought we'd mix it up a bit, plus I like the idea of everyone all coming from the same village and having to come together to do great things.

I mean they obviously look different, but female Doraf tend to be pretty smashy anyways and I'd argue that of the Granblue races they're the least "CHA" since half of them are some kind of autistic.

I think +STR/+Con and a penalty in one of the mental scores might suit both genders fine.
>>
so im making a small town with a couple of quirky characters to open up some small side adventures for the party, i got a ambiguously evil doctor who studies blood, and gives quest to test how far the party is willing to look away for a good amount of money ("hey, i think there might be someone in this crate" "yeah, but we get no money if the seal is broken")

a startup entrepreneur who claims he will give the party large sums of gold once he gets his company going for real, and then returning to the party with more requests, promising to "double debt" if they just remove this teeny hindrance for his business to truly bloom, which would allow him to pay them back. if the party allow the debt to rise to high enough ammounts so will he betray them in an ambush with assasins.

an drunken and drugged up oracle who gets divine visions of things before they happen, with pinpoint accuracy or them not happening at all

i still need to think of something to do with the local temple of sarenrae (a fairly small one), but im drawing blanks, but it needs to (atleast contain) a cleric that can offer basic cleric services. any fun ideas?

So I'm wondering, what would Evil parents complain about the Neutral kids?
I'm looking for more generic arguments stemming from their different alignments, not personal things like if one decided to date a hot orc chick.

The family is from a long line of wizard/clerics; worshippers of the god Nethys. His parents are leader of an important faction in the church, considered masters of evocation and summoning magic.
>>
>>51891797
Wyveran was originally introduced as an example of what could be made with the ARG Race Builder system, but was later implemented into Pathfinder proper

Sadly, I never read much about them, as they never interested me, however I recall they had content in the book Legacy of Dragons, and I think Inner Sea Races
>>
>>51891850
Doraf is a crapshoot, a lot of the NA community was playing before official localization and still uses it in /gbfg/.
>>
>>51891894
So his parents are evil and he's neutral?

They tell him to quite being a charity worker. The world is a dark place and he needs to look out for number one. If you don't take advantage of other people when you have the chance, someone else will take advantage of them and you'll be the one left behind. If you don't step on other people first, they'll step on you and you'll be crushed underfoot.
>>
>>51891894
Oddly, they'd probably have the same complaints Good parents would have about Neutral kids.

>>
>>51891842
Not much. With the exception of one country I can't fucking remember, Drow just aren't up on the surface. Unlike in normal D&D, most people in Golarion have never even heard of Drow, so they're not viewed as terribly scary (though of course anyone who was familiar with them would be appropriately scared).

I'd say most of the female Doraf have some kind of anime 'tism going on with them. Aliza, Threo, Forte, Halle. Maybe not CHA penalty levels, but they aren't earning any bonuses.

It'd be easier to write off but the other races just don't really have the same issue. Harvin tend to be pretty sensible and Erune quirks are always pretty functional.

Despite their size, I don't think oversized weapons are actually a very common thing with Doraf. Off the top of my head, Alwida and maybe Forte is the only one that wields anything particularly large, I'd treat the dimorphism as strictly aesthetic.

I'd probably go with an int penalty. I don't think any of them show any particularly cunning but a few of the older ones show wisdom. Female doraf probably aren't smaller than male dwarves and that one prolific image puts Vira as shorter than a few of them so medium seems fine.

I will never get just how absurdly voluptuous that human witch chick is.
>>
I require opinions on race lore. I do not have many races in my setting, but I will go over a few here for thoughts:

>Goblinoids
The separate goblinoid creatures are not in fact different species, instead they form a greater single species. In this case goblins are infertile males, hobgoblins fertile males, and bugbears females. Their clans end up strictly matriarchal with a bugbear at its head. When giving birth to a litter generally one child will grow to a hobgoblin, if two do so both hobgoblins will likely be runts among their kind. Hobgoblins practice rampant homosexuality due to their pathological need to mate where as bugbears only become fertile at certain times of the year, this varies from bugbear to bugbear and depends on when they were born. Bugbears can actually choose when to give birth to a new female, and will often send one with several hobgoblins and goblins to be established as a sister clan. This creates vast networks of allied clans stemming from single Bugbears. Bugbears, opposed to goblins and hobgoblins are far longer lived, some reaching as old as two hundred. Goblins, the infertile males, are generally subservient to their larger fertile brothers, but only to a point. However both hobgoblins and goblins will religiously follow the orders of their Bugbear mother or current clan head, this is due to pheromones the bugbear produces. She will often cut portions of her hair off and give it to her servants, these hair soaked in pheromone oil she excretes, and will keep them subservient while away. Goblinoids away from a bugbear for a long periods of time, without such baubles, will grow to realize their subservience.

With a few exceptions I think most of the men are very outgoing actually. I really don't think there's any need to separate male and female stat blocks at all.

Also 130cm actually makes them taller than dwarves on average.
>>
>>51892399
>Dwarves
Dwarven kind's "lust for gold" is quite literal. Dwarves have no sexes and are a single monolithic species. They are not born, and instead are built. An individual or a community will carve a new dwarf out of metal, stone, or gem and set them life using often poorly understood old rituals. One's material will often decide one's caste throughout life. Dwarven rich will carve their children of gold and gems, this creates a luxury for the rich of having a child as they can afford to pay for the materials of a child alone. Clans and communities otherwise will often come together to pool resources when creating a new dwarf. This is why clans exist, groups who come together to finance new dwarves as well as 'children of the community' where the new dwarf's 'parents' is every member of a town who pitched in. Dwarves will often be created for specific tasks, when new workers or soldiers are required. Dwarven society has strong laws detailing how a new child must pay off the worth of their body to their creator. The poorest of dwarves can be made of materials like brick, slate, or even concrete. These urban poor dwarves are seen as disgusting creatures by their brethren often, and such dwarves are most common among populations living outside of dwarven territory. Rich dwarves seldom travel due to the inherent wealth of their bodies. Even if they carry no riches a golden dwarf represents half a ton of gold to the would be highway man. Using a dwarf's body after death is sacrilege, and dead dwarves are enshrined in their base parts. Old dwarven clans will have bars and vaults full of gems harvested from their ancestors. Dwarves however have no natural maximum lifespan and dwarven death only comes in the form of dwarves who died in violence, accidents, or of diseases that effect their kind.

Is there anything stopping a 5th-level character from creating a trompe l'oeil of a CR 30 creature, such as Nocticula?

It would cost only Nocticula's HD 36 × 500 gp + 2,000 gp Medium = 20,000 gp to create.

Alternatively, such a construct could be purchased for Nocticula's HD 36 × 100 gp + 2,000 gp Medium = 5,600 gp. Surely, there is a typographical error here, and they meant "1,000 gp" as opposed to "100 gp"?
>>
>>51892415
>Trolls
Trolls I have changed completely from being a form of giant to instead being a native outsider. Their existence is intrinsically linked to that of intelligent races. Trolls come into existence when a structure or place modified by humanoids is left for an extended period of time. The most obvious example would be that of an abandoned bridge. A troll will naturally form on this abandoned bridge and essentially be site bound to it. A troll is an extension of the structure it inhabits. A troll's toll, as it is referred to, is the payment a troll demands for using the structure it is a part of. These tolls are often confusing to a normal humanoid. Trolls with pathologically attempt to increase the structure and gaudiness of what ever structure they inhabit, a troll bridge, over a few decades, becoming a massive structure. Trolls are influenced by the land they were birthed from. Stone, river, sand, etc. trolls exist depending on the landscape their home structure exists in. Abandoned towns and cities do not stay abandoned for long as trolls will come into being inside them. Trolls grows more powerful as their structure does, when two trolls come into conflict most often one will kill the other and then deconstruct the other troll's site for building material. An abandoned city left to itself will end with a single massive citadel constructed by the surviving troll, who will have changed into a powerful being due to his massive home.

Now that I think about it, yeah, that's probably true. The dimorphism is mostly cosmetic anyway. They should get penalty to Wis, I think, or racial penalty to Will saves and that't it.

They're over a foot taller than any of the small females though, and definitely heavier per inch. Dwarves qualify with extra, being heavier than a human at half the height, so I think there's a good argument that female Doraf are still medium characters.

killing, no, not so much. Especially when some bumblefuck decides to jump at the far end where the train is stopping instead of where it enters the platform from the tunnel.

But people do hop on to get dropped things, or stumble and fall because they're drunk/old/stupid/stoned/alloftheaboveifweretalkingtheinuitslivingintheYMCAnexttoatwaterstation, or rarely get pushed...

It's a combination of all the things that means you're bound to end up late for work every other week or more depending on your actual hours (it's quiet at 6am, hell around 9am)
>>
>>51892895
That'd be a highly specific curse, so he's probably not.

We're just looking at someone who tried, failed, and believes it's too late to succeed elsewhere and that others would profit from his death. I've seen the type - if you tell them it's not too late they'll look at you like you're speaking Greek.

How could it not be too late? They've already failed once, and the world doesn't give second chances. Everyone would be better off without them.

Add to that that he wants to make absolutely sure he dies (instead of surviving to regret it and be found out and possibly pitied - or worse, sent to whatever equivalent they have of therapy), and it's clear that he's trying not to "chicken out" of "doing the right thing."
>>
>>51892951
>They've already failed once, and the world doesn't give second chances.
I freaking hate this mindset, especially since its patently false.

Take for example with me. I remeber the first time at school I ever had to disect and prepare a mamological sample. It was an atrocious mess, horribly torn into pieces, and at the end you could no longer tell it was once a Miotis velafer.

And now, fast forward several years and I've got a good position doing sample prepping every friday for the University's Natural Science Research Laboratory, where I'm working a every weak with a bunch of Chaetodipus and Dipodomys specimens.

Seriously, people wioth this mindset need someone to take a boot, shove it up their asshole, so they can go and unfuck themselves and realize their own potential. So you didn't get the job you wanted? Boo fucking hoo, perhaps its because its not the job you're meant to have, and you've just been too blind to see what it was you were actually meant to do with your life.

Remember, life is tough and you can't always get what you want. But if you try hard enough sometime, and keep an open mind, you just might that you'll get what you need.
>>
>>51893028
I getcha. It takes a special kind of mental "break" to convince yourself that suicide is a moral obligation for you specifically, and boy howdy is that frustrating to deal with.

Especially when you see them trying to get over it, even talking to professionals, and it's just not working.
>>
>>51893028
It's because it's not "the world" that doesn't give second chances. It's the raging assholes clawing their way up the corporate ladder.

"the world" is what they see themselves as, much in the same way as they don't actually view anyone down on the ground floor as "people"

This is unfortunate because I'm a huge fag for Samurai Troopers, but I don't really have much PoW experience. So I'm probably not the best choice to help with your Shuten problem, and dunno what would be best for replicating his Red Lightning Flash attack.

Now that I think about it. I'd match quite a few of the ronin to a discipline.

Ryo- Thrashing Dragon
Rowen- Solar Wind
Sage- Silver Crane
Kento- Golden Lion
Cye- Piercing Thunder

What is is the most bog standard straightforward pre-written module/campaign for Path?

I have been dming for a while now but I always run some fucked up mixture of systems/editions and I feel like I'm making way more work for myself. My party wiped lsat session so I feel like now is a good time to cut all the crap out and focus on just making a fun campaign with core and start working stuff in as I go. What would you recommend to a new dm as THE Pathfinder experience?
>>
>>51894629
Probably either Rise of the Runelords or Giantslayer, I think. Those are at least the most bog-standard, straight D&D fantasy style APs, at least in the sense of fluff.

No journeys to far and exotic lands, no special gimmick fights against bizarre creature types, no gonzo pulp stories, no jaunts to Earth.

As much as Profession (dirt farmer) depending on your bonus.

Be sure to take the Brevoy Bandit trait!

>[PFS Legal] Brevoy Bandit
>Source People of the River pg. 12 (Amazon)
>Category Region
>Requirement(s) Mivon
>You fled the persecution of Brevoy authorities and wound up in Mivon. Whether or not you are guilty of your alleged crimes, you seek to build a new life amid new neighbors. Choose one Profession skill and one ability score other than Wisdom. You add that ability score’s modifier in addition to your Wisdom modifier on checks with the chosen Profession skill.

Why is this the single best and worst trait in the system?

"Because I fled from my life of banditry, I can now apply my Strength modifier to my Profession (midwife) checks. A stuck baby is no match for my rippling muscles!"

"Because I fled from my life of banditry, I can now apply my Dexterity modifier to my Profession (barrister) checks. I literally dance around a subject!"

By RAW, spellcasting services and magic item creation can make a caster a huge profit.
>>
>>51896016
So a wizard for example can prepare some still spells, cast beast shape or similar on himself, cast Silent tongues and be able to cast his the rest of his still spells as long has he has eschew materials?
>>
>>51896023
Spellcasting yes, magic creation no unless you retire and run a full time shop.

Otherwise, game assumes you are pawning off your crafted items at hobo rates because you have no rep. You can still make a profit off said magic items but you need to take a shitty trait but even then adventuring is still a more profitable venue.
>>
>>51896045
Then get a part time shop.

Okay! Dragon Game Synopsis: World Domination Edition!

>So last game The Queen revealed that she wanted to take over the world.
>Varying degrees of want
>She goes on to explain why she wants to take over the world
>2 reasons, A) She needs the world's resources for a project of hers, and B) Because the world is awesome and she wants it to herself.
>The project? Increasing her power so she can kill Dahak, Draconic God of Evil and Destruction.
>She took the first step towards that plan in her youth when she absorbed, .00026% of Tiamat's Godly power, gaining the form and powers she's known for today, she was born a White Dragon.
>The party decides to wisely move past this because the exact process that The Queen was going into was rather complicated and full of holes and allegory. Instead they ask what's her plan for World domination.
>The Plan is ALL THE PLANS!!
>More specifically, she's saying no one method can control the world, so she's going to try all of them at the same time. Economics, Military strength, Good Will and Favors, Political marriages, and most importantly, being famous.
> People ain't gonna do shit for you, if they don't know who you are.
>The Queen decides on a target, TALDOR! It makes sense! its the greatest empire in the inner sea! And they have a princess from Taldor! A non landed Princess with little political power/know how, but hey she's there!!
>Wait, huh? What's a Cheliax? Probably not important.
>The Queen asks Princess Celisse, to give her a comprehensive list of the eligible bachelors and bachelorettes in Taldor's nobility, Then she starts asking Freyda and Zev if they've finally gotten boyfriends yet. They protest adorably.
>This devolves into a discussion if Taldor nobles would even WANT to have draconic wives, let along Freyda and Zev.

Part (1/3)
>>
>>51896849
There's room for different opinions, but I think the CL should be like BAB, but you get the talents of both classes. They'd also need to be using the same casting stat, I think.

You could also use the spherecasting rules where when multiclassing, you segregate both classes entirely. Not as fun, or in the spirit of Gestalt, I think.

>The Queen, in no subtle terms, claims that The nobility would have to be brain dead to NOT want to take the two from behind in a manly fashion. Let alone Lameeka with "Pound for Pound, the biggest ass the queen has ever seen." Even Astarte with her wholly armor encased mystery and forbidden fruit appeal.
> Astarte protests because she's literally on fire all the time, The queen says it'll entice "The Adventurous". Astarte then starts looking up fire resistance magic.
>regardless the final plan to get Taldor under the queen's wing is to MAKE TALDOR GREAT AGAIN! Starting with TAKING BACK ABSALOM!
>The Party is released to do as they pleased until tomorrow. Specifically because The Queen's Paramour just arrived and they didn't want to see.
>Getting into the good bit, sorting through the loot of the last session!
>Ring of Minor Ghost Touch (Lets your hand touch ghosts) Amulet of Soul Mate Detection, Amulet of Heart's Desire, Immovable Amulet, Ring of Enlarge Dragon, and a collection of jewelry worth 6k gold.
>The important one is The Amulet of Heart's Desire, Which shows what the wearer's greatest want is. Naturally they pass it around to see what it shows.
>Atolm, the first who tries it on seems himself, Big as a large barn and surrounded by bitches! He's convinced it shows the future.
>Astarte's vision shows her puny human form exploding outwards and becoming a great and powerful dragon!
>Lameeka's is a bit more humbler, She's she's a bit older with a few assistants, but most importantly is being praised for her good work with headpats and gifts.
>Zev's has her secretly controlling a nation from behind the scenes and then retiring to her harem of nubile boys and girls.
>Celisse has her being a complete SLUT! CUDDLING IN PUBLIC with her bishonen husband in front of her twenty kids! They were even Holding hands!
>Freyda was just her having the time of her life, researching some old ruins and doing some earnest archeology.

Gives martials something more to do than hitting things
>>
>>51897092
It's more fun for people who are not playing casters in combat, and gives them access to tools they are expected to have without the caters hand holding.
I charge, and I full attack are boring as fuck when those are really your only options. Also needing to ask the wizard for a fly spell so you can fight the big flying monster that can bombard you with breath attacks or rays or fly by attacks is annoying.
>>
Should someone who works as a court's assassin have ranks in knowledge (nobility)? Should it have it instead of survivial even if it is not in class?
>>
>>51897092
It allows martials to have an interesting and in-depth system for combat based around resource management and action economy.

On the other hand, the numbers are overtuned. Boosts/Stances alongside full attacks exacerbate the problem a lot. Suggested houserule is that boosts and stances do not buff full attacks (but still work on standard action attacks).
>>
>>51897119

Get a trait that gives you Knowledge (Nobility.) That trait alongside Local is absolutely paramount to being a good courtly assassin.

The group exit, they're all very tired and could use rest before they decide to tackle the monumental task of how to get Taldor under their heel.
>Not before being accosted by some kobold children playing their sport Ulama, where you basically play basketball using only your hips to touch the ball, The ball goes flying into the party, where Lameeka's childhood surfaces and she hits it back with her own hips.
> This rockets the ball back into them, and knocks out two of them
>before she can stammer out appologies, the kids swarm her thinking she's some kind of sports god when she hasn't played in years and has gotten soft.
>The kids don't care and start begging her to play with them. She gets dragged off where she plays thirty games. Leaving her exhausted and with a sore ass.
>the party agrees to reconvene for breakfast at The Roost, a nice tavern.
>the party divvy's up the last of the loot when they find out that while it's busier than the lunch rush, there's no one else at the tavern.
>No one else besides a whale of a red dragon princess, that happens to be Freyda's sister, Leidra. Who when she's not be a fat disgusting glutton, is a SPY of all things.
>In exchange for a future payment in pie, she lets the party in on a little thing she learned while she was in Taldor. A Great Red Dragon died recently, and everyone's chomping at the bit to get some of his horde, but un some uncharacteristic INTELLIGENCE someone decided that this would crash the Taldor economy for years to come and put the Horde under the control of one Sir Johnathon Cross.
>Good Sir Cross has been instructed to make sure nothing leaves that horde until a fair and balanced method of distributing the wealth can be found. Sir Cross on the other hand has been passing out sums of the gold to political allies. A fact that Leidra the spy found out by sitting on a courier.

Armed with this knowledge the party is ready to MAKE TALDOR GREAT AGAIN!! By putting it under draconian rule!

>>51897261
I mean, for one, I prefer to play mostly core races, occasionally venturing into goblin or the genie races. I've never seen pathfinder as inherently weeby or magical realm, but pfgen is an absolute shitshow. Everyone I've actually played pathfinder with, irl or online, has basically played it the same way general fantasy is presented. We tend to stick to either the aesthetic that paizo puts forward, or we go lower fantasy and make it more lord of the rings-y.
Everyone here seems to only play catfolk and kitsune maid-sorceresses, whereas I'm over here playing Dwarven tomb-robbing rogues who are obsessed with gold, Human rangers who are an ace with a bow, but switch to sword combat when enemies close in, goblin arsonists, and Half elven Eldritch Knight smithes who are on a quest to make the perfect longsword. Idk where all this anime shit comes from.

>>51897300
I'm more concerned when it seems like that is what everyone here plays at all times. Its fine to play something like that once in a blue moon, but not everyone on the damn team can be a female tertiary race full caster, somebody has to be the burly half orc barbarian, or this shit gets dumb and boring.
>>
>>51897288
I have played a catfolk in a game set in Osirion, whom was a local, as that is one of the regions they tend to live in.
I have played a sylph from the shackles area who migrated to varasia for a campaign.
If I can get a good idea for a weird race that fits in setting I use it, other then that it tends to be human. I don't find the other standard races interesting, I like to be something rare that has to deal with some prejudices, or a human that can fit in about anywhere and in a world with things far beyond them but still doing the best with what they can.
But the biggest thing for me when playing a weird race is making it fit in setting.
>>
>>51897317

There does need to be at least one straight man or at the very least Core man.

Despite the memery, the only races in the /pfg/ games that seem to dominate are Humans and Tieflings.

I know, right? To think I wasted my app with a shit post.
>>
>>51897329
See, I feel like in general, the strange subraces don't really feel that prejudice anyways, and wind up just being a special snowflake tool to be different. The subraces are also typically so specific in their designated personalities that people have a tough time being anything other than "obvious stereotype of this race" or "obvious complete opposite of the stereotype of this race" which I can't stand. I also think the genie races are kinda pointless, and if you want to be an elemental human, you should either be a sorc or take eldritch heritage. Again, if done right, one or two weird race can be fine for a party, but when the kitsune basically becomes the standard race for a playgroup, theres a problem.
>>51897337
I'd say that most of the party should be core, unless someone has a decent idea regarding a tertiary race. Its fine for someone to be a goblin, or an orc, or a catfolk, but there shouldn't be half or more of the party. Also I dislike tieflings because so many people play them poorly. 90% of tiefling players play the "I might be descended from demons, but im actually totally good and not evil, in fact im a paladin" type. Not saying you have to be evil as a tiefling, but there should be some moral struggle, even just due to the fact that they are typically confined to slums and grow up being hated, they likely tend to grow up sort of detached and numb to people, and would probably be neutral at best, probably being rather stoic.

I've been wanting to play a Gingerbread Sphere Witch for a long time now, and it seems I'll finally get to do it!

The downside is that the GM decided that we should all make our characters separately without giving away details to the other players, so I have no idea what the party makeup will be. I trust the GM and two of the other players to not fuck everything up though, so I'll still keep my hopes up.

Wish me luck, /pfg/.

GMs definitely need to be clear about the type of campaign they are running prior to people making their characters. I get that he was probably going for a surprise thing so you wouldn't be super aimed towards the campaign, but still.

>% of tiefling players play the "I might be descended from demons, but im actually totally good and not evil, in fact im a paladin" type.
Most the teiflings I have played are the kind that try to keep their heritage a secret and just blend in with normal people.
I feel that is the best way to play them unless they are raised by a church or heavily indoctrinated in some other way.
But I tend to play most native outsiders like humans, as the outsider blood tends to skip generations, and they would be raised by their parents race which for me is usually human.

I currently have a changeling sorceress with fey bloodline (we used the lore of changelings being fey/humans that are left as orphans for humans to raise) and she only became aware of being a changeling shortly before the campaign began, but it didnt really change anything about her. She hasn't told anyone about it, because she really doesn't care. However, low key behind her normally whimsical and spontaneous self, she has become quite melancholy lately, as she is in a bit of an identity crisis. She realized that this is likely the reason that most people have always perceived her mannerisms as strange and is why she has difficulty building relationships with other people. Her foreign personality and mind makes it difficult to sympathize with others, though she may be good at heart.

He keeps us in the dark about each other's characters until the first session. He says it makes the first character interactions more organic.

What are the consequences of playing a character "outsider (native)" like tieflings and aasimars?
>>
>>51897489
Mechanicly or socially?

I am glad your game is going well, I did not apply because I assumed it would be a shit show based on the premise, pleasantly surprised to see I was wrong.
>>
>>51897505

Mechanically, primarily. But, If there's something else besides being outcast, go ahead.

>>51897523

That's something of a theme for me, I like taking dumb things and trying to make them fun.

Same here, I guess SwimmingEagle, besides being a miserable pile of fetishes, is actually a pretty good DM!

No access to enlarge or shrink person spells, disguise self will act odd, reincarnation will act really odd, and any other spell that uses creature type or humanoid will not function well at all, also planar binding and other outsider specific effects and spells you are subjected to, if you goto another plane someone could banish you from it for instance.

Anyone who's not on their home plane is subject to being punted from the plane they're on. A human on the Plane of Fire is very much an extraplanar.

>Lesson IV: The Ladder
>Discipline: Fool's Errand (Stance)
>Level: 5
>Prerequisites: Two Fool’s Errand maneuvers
>Initiation Action: 1 swift action
>Range: Personal
>Target: You
>Duration: Stance
>Your first lesson was how to fall; your fourth lesson is how to not. Your intense training has given you the ability to climb the very air, grasping the world with your hands and kicking off with your feet. While you maintain this stance, you become immune to falling damage and gain a special mode of movement.
>By spending a move action, you gain the ability to make a number of leaps through the air this turn equal to 1/2 your ranks in the Climb skill. Making a leap is a free action, and each leap moves you up to 10 feet in any direction (unlike with a fly speed, you neither gain nor lose distance for moving vertically in this way). You need not jump off of a physical object; you can leap off the air through sheer power and skill. If you end your turn with leaps remaining, these leaps are expended, and you remain hovering in the air until your next turn (at which point you fall unless you must spend another move action to gain leaps). Otherwise, you fall. This movement provokes attacks of opportunity as normal.
>If you initiate a maneuver or use an ability that would allow you to move a distance equal to or greater than your land speed (such as windmill waltz flurry or a strike that includes a charge attack), you may gain leaps as if you had spent a move action rather than making that movement. You still gain any other benefits or penalties from the ability in question (such as a charge attack’s bonus on attack rolls and penalty to AC).
