>>51885971
I don't know why you have a CCS all the way up top. Are you taking it as a solo Battlegroup Detachment? Because you can definitely do that, the Detachment is only 1+ Command as a minimum.

But part of me is thinking you're using the Battlegroup Detachment thinking the Emperor's Shield Infantry Platoon is a core. If that's the case, it's an Emperor's Shield Infantry Company that is a core, which is 3 ES Infantry Platoons.

If I assumed wrong, and you just wanted another CCS to give out orders to the ES Infantry Platoon, then you can just combine the CCS into the CAD as your second HQ choice, because if you take the solo CCS Battlegroup Detachment, then you won't get any of the command benefits from the Battlegroup.

Otherwise I really like the list. The only issue I see is that the last 2 Infantry squads are messed up. The last squad has 1 too many men, and the one above it is missing a Grenade Launcher.
>>
Reposting from last thread, as I was drowned out by 8e wishlisting. I think I'm mostly sorted with this list, but I'm wondering about a couple things. Firstly, should I change the Knight into a single-gun variant to be able to take a third Dragoon, and maybe a Serpenta for them to mark their target? I'm also a bit concerned about the Hoplites being blown apart before they reach their target. Would it just be playing smart to keep them out of trouble? I assume any tank commander would have a fit seeing a wall of Haywire walking towards them.

They got updated twice. Once in third edition where they got plastic guardians, a better wraithlord, new jetbikes etc then again in I think 5th where they got the new war walker and all their new shit.

Aspect warriors and phoenix lords never got updated since 2nd edition.
>>
>>51886175
What program did you use to make that?
>>
>>51886166
It's been updated twice. There was a selection of new Aspect Warriors in 3rd edition (Hawks, Banshees, Reapers, Scorpions), then again in 4th (Banshees, Scorpions, Reapers, Dragons, Avengers).

Warp Spiders and Shining Spears are the only Aspect Warriors still using 2nd edition models. Most of the Warlocks date back to that era as well.

So how terrible is my list?

The idea is that Cawl, the TPD and the Custodes join up and make their way up the field wrecking things. The TPD spots for the Rangers and Onager hiding under the Void Shield in the back. And the Vanguard try to grab objectives/support where needed.

>and make their way up the field wrecking things

It's a death star that only moves 6" a turn and doesn't have amazing shooting power. It'll never actually get a chance to catch anything in close combat. It'll never die either, so you can pretty much pick an objective and never lose it, but that won't win you many games.

Rail rifles broadsides suck. Take a missile pod one, that way he and his drones can actually effectively shoot at the same thing too.

Your commander is a mess. I have no idea what his role is. Is he pairing with the other marker drones? Why does he have his own then? Why does he have the MSSS? There's no cover saves against markerlights. Why does he have two different guns if he isn't shooting most of the time?

Take pathfinders instead of marker drones.

Take a librarian and nothing but terminators, ds everything close to your opponent. Either you lose because one unit comes on or your in combat turn 2 max because he doesnt charge you. Either way, at 1k, your games will be short. Ive dropped my entire army on a guard player turn ,psychic screamed his ccs to death, flamed 30 guard in different units, the rest ran off the board, took tank shells to the face then charged turn 2, blew up every tank and the guy quit. Ive also lost because not everything dies as easily. Go crazy with your tactics and see what sticks. If that doesnt work buy eldar jet bikes.

I'd reccomend something like this then.

Some major things you're going to want to keep in mind as you learn:

- You should have a clear role or two in mind for any given unit. Don't try to make one unit do everything, it'll be cheaper and more effective to have a second unit take the role.

- Boys before toys. You're usually better off having more models than decking out less models with expensive wargear.

- Target priority. Know what you need to shoot off the board first, and know what units you'll need to get the job done.

Like i said, deep strike them, i like to measure 14 inches in every direction(gotta remember you place your guys in a circle around the dude you place) to minimize the possibility of mishaps and find that sweet spot. Fortune favors the bold though so i often try to deep strike closer than i should and pray for a hit, its 1/3 of the results but also 7 is the avg number rolled on 2 dice so an argument can be made for only checking half the distance i do. All of the units in the Tzeentch box are good but you will probably want a LoC at some point. Also, if you want to play the Tzeentch start collecting box you will need 20 blue/brimstone horrors assuming you are not taking that one locus that doubles your splits.

Plus, again, at 1k, your games as GK will be SHORT. If you do fail, c'est la vie.

My quick tip is: Take either a dreadnought or a Vindicare assassin. They're invaluable for long-range shooting. Especially the Vindicare because you really lack a means of popping AV14, especially at long range. He can drill a LR before it becomes a problem.

Optical sights work just fine as telescopes, the cardinal points aren't recessed so far that you can't focus if you hold up the lens close to your eye (and they wouldn't be a huge amount of use if they were).

>sight goes on gun!

Fuck off. Gun is heavy. Sight is relatively fragile. Sight frequently doesn't go on gun and may be more useful in hand anyway, especially if it means not swinging a 7 kilo gun + a heavy optical sight around and giving away your position to closer enemies than the ones you want to observe.

Besides, for a Ratling or a Space Marine iron sights are probably fine up to the first couple of kilometres ;-)

Why do Riptides get so much hate when the average tournament has results like pic related?
Even with full Riptide Wings and Stormsurges Tau end up pretty much on-average. Yet you can't deal with a single Riptide?
Even if you're playing a below-average codex like Nids, I can't think of a reason to single out Riptides, much less all of Tau, when literally every codex in the game is keeping you from having fun.

That's useless because again, the X-axis is completely unused. There's no indication to the actual numbers behind the thickness of the bars, so we're left with only vague assumptions. If the creator was trying to convey some important information to us, he failed due to deliberately not giving us that vital bit of information.

How many eldar players are there scoring points at a specific level? How many orks? Necrons? Why are necrons nonexistent below the median line. Why is the median line constant for all factions?

There's so many questions, because OP cannot into graphs.

Reporting back after the game: I actually just barely won against that, despite of what I figured would happen. Nuked one of the Crusader squads to shit in my first two shooting phases using my Warlord's Eradication Ray and 36 Grav shots. Those Neophytes actually saved them from being killed outright because of their 4+ armor. Meanwhile, I lost a Kataphron squad after one salvo from the bike killed one Kataphron, made them break morale and had them run 12" off the map immediately.
The second squad and the Chapter Master ran up against my Dominus Maniple, were barely softened up because the Skitarii only got a single salvo on them before they reached me and the Onager didn't do much either. Still managed to take out the Chapter Master using my Anzion's Pseudogenerator and a lucky Power Axe hit and ended up having like 14 Initiates and Neophytes tarpit in with the Dunecrawler and the Maniple's Dominus for 2 turns while my remaining Dominus and the 3 Kataphrons chased after the Bike to stop it from capping a point and winning by 1.
Ultimately ended up tabling the Black Templars, but only won just barely.

>what makes Riptides so OP?
T6 W5 2+/3++ FNP makes them hard to kill.
72" Ion Accelerator combined with Deep Strike and 2D6" or 4D6" thrust move means they have good pressure.
You can kit them with Skyfire, Interceptor, and Precision Shots.
The Riptide Wing formation gives them +1 BS when all units fire at the same target, keep them from failing Reactor rolls, and can forego moving to shoot twice OPG.
All this for 180 points stock.

But that's it, really. The weapons are okay at best and come at a much better price point on other Tau units. The real issue is that the only way to efficiently take it down is with Grav, AP2 spam, Psychic Phase shenanigans, and Sniper fire.
The codexes that have access to any of these tend to beat Tau easily. See Eldar, SM, IK, CSM, Demons, etc.
The codexes that don't lose to Tau, Eldar, SM, IK, CSM, Demons, etc.

Grav weapons if you play marines.
It's the only non-fearless monstrous creature IIRC, so AP2 assault units can kill them in a sweeping advance *if* they catch them.
>>
>>51888006
Insane durability, very fast, ability to pick whatever bonus it wants every turn with no downside really, significant firepower, no degradation in ability as it gets damaged and the ability to be supported by Markerlights to give all his guns Ignore Cover. Also is stupidly undercosted, so if the Tau player is a dick you see four or five at 1500, maybe more.

Counters: What army? Instant Death, obviously, although you'll need a bit to breach 2+ 3++ T6. Grav helps a bunch, so does plasma spam. Other armies have some tricks, but mostly shoot the Markerlights and other stuff first unless you have no other targets or probably kill it with one of the above.

If you can't realistically take down ANY unit in 1-2 turns, then it is best to ignore it (not counting huge LoWs, of course). This doesn't go for just Riptides.
At the end of the day, Riptides can only shoot at one thing at a time. And the weapons aren't really insane, Riptides don't wipe out a full unit every turn.

>There's no indication to the actual numbers behind the thickness of the bars
Does it matter if it's the majority of 50 eldar players or 200 that score 3800 points?
The percentage of player that preform in a certain bracket is what the thickness indicates.

>How many eldar players are there scoring points at a specific level?
Majority of Eldar scores in the 3800 range

>How many orks?
Most score 3k but not insignificant amounts rang into 4k and 2k

>Necrons? Why are necrons nonexistent below the median line.
Becasue in the sample no Necrons scored below 3200 points not above 4500

Hunter Cadre gives you BS boosts for multiple units firing at the same target, so you use two MSU pulse rifle FW squads, or one and a pathfinder squad shooting the markerlights in the first place.

Riptide Wing gives you a boost for each other Riptide that fired.

Other Formations give you higher BS for shooting anything within range of an arbitrary point you pick on the table, and so on.

In practice Tau are rarely starting from BS 3 base.

Well, the main thing to know about poland's military history is that about the group known as the Winged Hussars. The Winged Hussars were a polish mercenary group of all-cavalry, that participated in NUMEROUS battles across much of europe between 1577 to 1683. They were so badass, that they were frequently the deciding factor in battles where they were outnumbered by even 5 to 1. Their uniform basically consisted of heavy plate-armour with an enormous set of wings attached to their shoulder plates.

In more modern days, Polish tank and cavalry divisions still wear a crest of silver-wings on them, as a memory of the old winged hussars.

And I'm guessing the orbital strike didn't hit lol
>>
>>51888534
It is on a strategic standpoint. Note the casualties inflicted on both sides, DESPITE the enormous numbers difference. The germans and the poles lost roughly the same number of men, despite the poles being outnumbered by an enormous margin.

Those men were going to die anyway, and their position was considered absolutely vital that they delay the germans for long enough so that the larger parts of the polish army can maneuver into proper position to fight them.

You can bet that if there was 42,000 poles at Wizna, not one of the germans would have made it out alive. The only reason the germans were even winning against poland was strictly because of their enormous man-advantage. Poland simply didn't have enough men to defeat the entirety of germany's military.

The bike was mostly annoying since Kataphron Destroyers only have a 4+ armor save and 5 tougness. Being a unit of 3, killing one forces a morale check.

The Orbital scattered way off the board, yeah. And I softened the Chapter Master down to 2 wounds during shooting with 6 Plasma shots, 3 Volkite shots and my Icarus Array (which is a bunch of Autocannons and rocket pods with Skyfire). Then my Tech-Priest got into a challenge with him later and the Pseudogenerator lets him do an extra D6 S4 AP5 Shred attacks, one of which hit and caused a wound, followed by the Power Axe wound. He then missed 4 of his 6 attacks and my 4++ shield blocked the remaining two so that was pretty sad.

Overall, the bike was pretty decent. Had me haul ass to get it off the point in time to not lose (played Crusade). I was more shocked that I actually managed to get one of the Crusader units into combat while footslogging. Might just try that myself with my own Templars one day. Though granted, one of the two squads didn't even manage to walk more than 6" out of their deployment zone before being killed, because Grav is fair and balanced.

Admech has comparatively shitty grav. 6 shots, BS3 no amps, deepstrike or psykers on a 55pt 4++ T5 2W platform. It's still really good, but less OP and more just a glass cannon unit. The problem (And the brie) comes when I use Cawl or something to buff their BS up a tad and they start dumping 14 AP2 wounds on everything, which is why I don't run him or WarConvo.

If anything, Admech should have it, to be fair. We do have all the wacky and wonderful oldtech guns. I think it should be like 30k, where it's a surgical tool with 18" range on 80pts Cannot Run models, but really damn strong.

Air Caste Support Cadre isn't very good. Consider swapping it out for an Air Superiority Cadre. You lose out on the bomber, but you get free! global markerlights and come out of reserves instantly.

This is how GW gets my money. I really should learn to magnetize.
>>
>>51889268
Always.

It's a function of armies not the FoC
>>
>>51889281
Fuck, I meant to take a picture of the finished version but it's kinda hard when it's pitch dark outside
>>
>>51889289
same that's why I magnetized one of my heavy weapons marines early on when I didn't have many models
>>
>>51889304
Broom bristle.
>>
>>51889111
Grav with amps and doctrines is OP against fucking everything you scrub. The math has literally been done to prove it, it's the best weapon in the game against 99% of targets, period. There is literally no reason ever not to take it on a model that has the option. That's the definition of OP. It is more powerful than anything else you can do instead. It will consistently shoot even Eldar cheese like Wraithknights off the board with little to no effort. It will statistically perform better than D weapons on average vs any target that doesn't have an almost impenetrable or rerollable invulns.
>>
>>51888817
>Give archon T4 and/or eternal warrior
How about no. Although I'm all for giving you a Relic to give Eternal Warrior. Like other factions.

No other faction build-a-hq gets a built in Eternal Warrior
>>
>>51889259
What does that question even have to do with the reply chain?
>>
>>51889316
I have so many Marines that I never should have bought just because of this issue.

I actually haven't even begun to build the Start Collecting Skitarii box because I want to learn how to magnetize so I don't spend hundreds on just having extra models for different weapons again.
>>
>>51888817
Make the archon's wargear cheaper and give them the OPTION to buy combat drugs and something to give them EW
>>
>but muh beast hunter shells
>need to take outdated, overcosted crutch list
>only hq and elite tank can take it
Wooow, so this is the power of guard.
>>
>>51889328
>>51889358

that's fine too, and fair.

because a fucking warlord dying to a single S6 weapon is some goddamn bullshit.
>>
>>51889134
help please
>>
>>51889328
This.

Eternal Warrior literally only belongs on two things: Relics and Unique named Characters.
>>
>>51889289
that's nothing. My friend is wysiwyg-fag also. He was butthurt that space marines don't have both boltgun and bolt pistol visible and refused to "have" both of them
>>
>>51889281
the usual idea is to put squiggly lines on it
if you cant/dont want to use a brush, there are very fine ink pens available. Usually for techical drawings and shit
>>
>>51889217
To be frank I've never utilised Pathfinders as more than spotters before so I wouldn't know how to build them. I know mixing weapons is typically bad, so would you go with ion or rail rifles for them? I've always wanted to actually use a Recon drone, and I assume a Pulse Accelerator for a more fighty squad. I'll have to lose something to fit this though

Can Tau do much against MCs without bringing more of their own, apart from pumping it full of ammo until it dies?

How hard did I fuck up?

(The Dominus Maniple has Rangers because my SC! came with one of the datasheets that had rangers on it, not vanguard)
>>
>>51889413
...I'm like that too. My Sergeant technically has a chainsword but I didn't like how he looked holding a combi-plas with it, so he doesn't actually have a chainsword according to me.

My friends keep saying that I lose in assault all the time because of shit like this.
>>
>>51889390
but not kharn since why would a 10,000 year old eternal warrior have EW

I also refuse to let any of my models that technically have grenades use them if they aren't on the model. And because I tend to hate how they look... most of them don't have grenades.
>>
>>51889455
I know that feel. Bought some DV cultists to my LatD army. Their loudouts are crap, but I still use them like that, even the champ with 2 CCW and the one with the shotgun.

>>
>>51889319

Yeah I'm sure that's why the winning WS lists take melta squads in addition to grav.

>using grav against Daemons, the second best army in the game
>using grav over melta against Knights, the most common superheavy

You're pretty quick to call people scrub for someone who's never even played at a GT.
>>
>>51889455

I gave up on being a WYSIWYG fag for anything but upgrades after realizing what a pain it was trying to find chainswords without hands on them, and gluing grenades and bolt pistol holsters onto already completed models.

Not only does WYSIWYG not exist anymore in the main rules, it never covered things like default wargear, so now I don't worry about stuff that's not "actually" WYSIWYG like grenades, because WYSIWYG was never about grenades, it was about things like lascannons or meltaguns. I'll still be WYSIWYG for those because it makes the gameplay easier for everyone and is how you're supposed to properly model the wargear unless you're doing creative conversions or counts as.
>>
>>51889887
>what a pain it was trying to find chainswords without hands on them
Well, Burning of Prospero has that covered now. Definitely a severe shortage of them in the past though, although I guess that's why they often include a few combat knives.
>>
>>51889887
It's not in the rulebook anymore?

I guess I can try and stop being such an autist about it...
>>
>>51886050
Looks great. Ignore the waac fags giving you advice, they just want to groom you to be a faggot with them.
>>
>>51889931
I don't think it was ever in the rulebook.
>>
>>51889931
I think they understood how hard it is to be WYSIWYG when they don't give you all the options. I guess for them, consistency is the most important thing.

I personally don't like my models having different guns, but there are some things I'm more lax on. Like a Primaris Psyker counting as having a power axe despite him having a staff. Or counting my Armored Sentinels as Scout Sentinels as long as I don't have other Armored Sentinels counting as Armored Sentinels on the field at the same time.
>>
>>51889887

I gave up on it when I made my IG, to discover the guardsman box only has a flamer and a grenade launcher.

Now those grenade launchers actually fire plasma, really.
>>
>>51889995
I can imagine plasma canisters.
>>
>>51889995
Speaking of Guardsmen..

FUCK THE HEAVY FLAMER, THAT MOTHERFUCKER IS IMPOSSIBLE TO GET ON TO THE MODEL.

Also fuck GW for making melta and plasma only being one-per-command squad box.

I've nearly elected to only run flamers at this point.
>>
>>51889995
Why update 20 year old plastic kits when you can make even more bigger kits!
>>
>>51889995
That's not a bad idea actually. I would just make it all glow.

For my Kasrkin Storm Troopers, I use them as Scions and to model them with the Hot-Shot Volley Gun, I cut off bits of the flamer to make the tip look similar to the Scion one.

>>51890013
You could do what anon does, make the Grenade Launchers fire plasma canister shots or cut up the flamer some to make it a melta.

That's basically all I done. Painted the grenades glowing blue. I even got a compliment from the local GW staff, because even they were annoyed by the lack of options in that kit.
>>
>>51889413
>>51889455
Mate, I swear to god those fucking bits dont even FIT on fucking marines.

I tried to glue on the knives and pistols that came with them and they just didn't fit, I suppose it didn't help I'm playing blood angels so my guys are covered head to toe in jewelry but still.
>>
>>51890039
I could try doing that.

I've come pretty close to just asking my LGS to order 3 of these packs for me (https://www.games-workshop.com/en-US/Imperial-Guard-Cadian-with-Plasma-Gun-and-Meltagun) and learning how to deal with metal models.
>>
>>51886330
In a verrrry friendly game, you might be okay.

At least put crushing claws on the fexes, drop the hormagaunts (they're the worst) and take two separate venomthropes instead of a squad of three and use a neurothrope if you have one. I'm ambivalent on warriors.
>>
>>51890080

>>
PLASTIC ASPECT WARRIORS WHEN???!!
>>
>>51890116
everyone said my list was crap... but I've been doing ok so far.

The idea was to give the BESERKERfexes glands for fleet and furious charge, they run up the board with fleet then smash in to things at strength 10.

I wanna split the venomthropes but I'm already using all three elite slots, I'd do a second CAD but HQs are so expensive.

40K needs more units that are only good against superheavies. Before haywire grenades were ruined in assault it was interesting that what were normally garbage assault units had an interesting niche versus vehicles.

If you get dismounted demovets into melee with a WK you deserve to kill the damn thing.

I just got a call today saying that I didn't get the job at an IT place.. On the one hand it's nice of them to call me and let me know that I didn't get the job. On the other it's still disappointing... I've been unemployed for 6 months now, and the last job I had took me three years of job searching to get.

It took me 7 interviews at walmart just to get a simple job as a janitor. And then I lost it because a manager decided he needed me out, and blaming me for another employee saying racist things on camera was apparently his excuse.

As for games?.. I'm going up to the geedubs tomorrow for my usual saturday stuff, then going to a friend's house for a weekend LAN party.

Maybe I really should just kill myself. Collection be damned, I can't imagine living the rest of my life with my parents just because a wannabee nigger, and then an actual nigger destroyed the economy.
