I'm planning a sylvaneth army currently, but before I go forward with it I wanted to ask how they perform in the table. Are they super OP or just so-so?

I've been looking some stuff up and at least to my knowledge yet seem pretty strong. I'm weird in the way that I'd rather go for a weaker army since I just want to enjoy the game without some grognard getting an autistic fit over me trying to WAAC. I do love the sylvaneth aesthetics and lore though.

As with everything you can add in as many RPG elements as you like. In general the scenarios and events are easy to customise or rewrite completely.

Unless you're playing in a GW store then of course, but even then you can add in any other models providing you stat them up nicely. This post talks about including monsters and heroes from Silver Tower, so GW is even putting some backwards compatibility in on purpose.

Do you mean radically different from AoS or WHFB? They're different (i.e. simpler and with rules added for things that don't occur in the main game) but far more similar to the former than the latter for obvious reasons.

I'm very much looking forward to converting all of the minis the new one comes with so it can be properly personalised and fit in with all my other dungeon crawling minis.

Supposedly, every grand alliance is going to get something new this year. Unfortunately, if true, Death still probably won't be for a while, if the rumors are accurate.

AoS likely won't be getting much until after Gathering Storm is over, which probably won't be until May. And rumors are pointing to the next AoS releases being elves and/or Slaanesh.

So, if Death gets anything this year, it may not be until Fall at the earliest, assuming the rumors are accurate. Which is a shame, because I really want them to get something too. Preferably Soublight.

What are some general useful tactics that a new player won't know?

For example, I never thought about utilising the 2 inch unit coherency to make the most of the 3 inch zone of control rule, by spacing out a unit you can block off huge zones of the board, throw a hero you want to keep safe in there and he's safe until the unit collapses.

Hinterlands is probably the better game, but is more like Mordheim or Necromunda than Killteam.
Regiments of Renown is simpler but captures the spirit of Kill Team a little better.

Knight-Questor is perfectly emulating the aesthetic of the Stormcast Eterneals.
The Doomseeker is no different than any of the Fyreslayer models.
The Darkoath Chieftain fits any of the slaves to darkness heroes.
So it's safe to say the Mistweaver Saih and Tenebrael Shard will match their respective factions when they get updates, but it is yet to be sure which factions those will be.

Mistweaver, however, doesn't match any of the current elf themes. It could be because she's a mysterious loner character, it could be a sign that points to an unreleased elf faction at some point in the future.

To be honest I think the mistweaver may belong to one of the dark elf factions, if not her own. Her whole thing is mists and shadows and clouding perception and all that. That's Ulgu's domain. And it's heavily implied Malerion's dominion is Ulgu. Malerion who was once Malekith of the Dark Elves.

So maybe she's part of the rumored deep one/cthonian aelves rumor?

Nothing about her fits in with any of the high elf or wood elf themes.

The tenebrael shard is definitely one of the dark elf factions, though.

Putting off spending hundreds of dollars on my bloodknight skullcrusher crossover chaos/undead conversions that have been sitting far from finishe for over a year


1k list

Vamp Lord on Steed

then either 3 Vargheist or another mounted Vamp Lord,

Points left over to summon 3x5 Dire Wolves/3x1CairnWraiths
or a spirit host/black knight unit as needed.. Some configs give 20pts left over and the triumphs suck balls i think.

Can also run them as Brass Stampede Skullcrushers with a lord on Jug.

Any tips?

Do it man, just take the time to think about kitbashing options to make them Your Dudes.

Head swaps are generally the easiest option, Bare heads, Hooded heads, Female heads.

Consider colour scheme too.
I sort of regret painting mine gold, I work hard painting them as well as I can but I'll never get recognition for them being unique.

Read the book, some of the Stormhosts are pretty brutal and beyond that the levels of Crunch in the new Battletome are nuts.
