How hard would it be to retool Age of Rebellion to work in the Clone Wars era? I've got an adventure planned out that involves piecing together/playing the story of a squad of clone commandos that died at the end of the war and it would involve a lot of weapons, vehicles and droids I don't think I've seen statted.
>>

Well, what do you need?

>>
>>51873914

Weapons are easy, carbines are carbines, rifles are rifles, pistols are pistols. Making some unique ones might be an issue, but hell, just take some Civil War era guns and reduce their mark numbers by a few increments.

As for generic droids, you could easily just refluff some combat droids, and stormtroopers become clones.

Vehicles again you could pretty easily just pick like-for-like for a lot of them

SWG i saw a sneaky game post last thread, and there was a reply to it that talked about the players being deep cover agents watching out for the Discovery of Echo base.

I liked that idea, amd i want to incorporate it into my game/group, but i have a problem:

How exactly does one get into the imperial navy fast enough to be usefull without walking up to a recruiter? The players are wanted and the beuaracracy of the Empire means that at some point a background check would have to be performed, so how could the go about forging IDs? Or how would you have them disguise themselves as someone else (han and luke style) and how would they be able to keep pretending to be that person?

Any opinions appreciated.

Identity theft or fraud wouldn't be too hard.

The party are the graduating class from the best university on Besaris way out in the outer rim. Sure the university isn't all that prestigious but they pride themselves on training good spacers!

The university's systems are also much easier to slice new details into.
Tadah they're now on the latest graduating academy hopefuls list, shipping straight to Imperial Naval Academy. I hope their deception checks are up to par

Not hard. B1 battle droids are stated out in Edge. The Chronicals of the Gatekeeper has commando droids and droidekas. One of the soldier splat books has the stats for LAAT gunships. A lot of this stuff is already fleshed out, you just need to check through one of the online compendiums.
>>
>>51874628

I think the Sheev plan fitted into who he was, and it's a good explanation of the post Endor folding up. I liked it. We really should have gotten the info in the first book though. It's not that fancy a reveal.

This one was underwhelming but I appreciate the lore added, Norra and Temmin are still grating characters, Sinjir still isn't as awesome as Chuck reckons he is. The Senate shenanigans seemed unnecessary and tacked on. Zhe isn't well executed but is an interesting concept.

Jakku was a meh fight, Unifying Force did a big battle better.

>>51875914
We've known since the first Aftermath book (if not earlier, I don't remember) that Palpatine has been searching for the source of the dark side, somewhere beyond the edge of the galaxy.

Whether that was actually Snoke or if it was something else and Snoke showed up to take control of things is yet to be known.

But given that he was supposedly messing with Ben Solo/Kylo Ren while he was still in Leia's womb, it's entirely possible.

Doesn't mean that Palpatine wasn't the big bad, it just means that there are other dark siders out there with similar levels of power.

>>51875934
Does not mean that there actually is a gray side. Just means that some people think that there is.

>>51875948
Does not state that there is a gray side, only that they use both sides without leaning either way.
>>
>>51875847
Sheev said the galaxy is like chess with him as its king. He says that if the king falls the game is over despite how many pieces are left. He believed that if he died than the empire failed him and doesn't derserve to live. His failsafe was Jakku a planet that had an observation post designed to spy on unknown regions where Snoke is. Anyway the final battle between the rebels and empire was to be fought on Jakku than the planet was to be blown up wiping out both sides. The strongest members of the empire were to flee to the unknown regions to form the First Order.

-Sheev clones bow to Mofference
-In contact with Yuuzhan-Vong
-Possess Force-like abilities
-Control the Empire with an iron but fair Glove of Darth Vader
-Own Moffships & planets globally
-Direct descendants of the ancient Sith blood line
-Will bankroll the first cities on Mortis (Moffopolis will be be the first city)
-Own 99% of DNA editing research facilities on Kamino
-First designer babies will in all likelihood be Trioculus babies
-All Moffs said to have 215+ IQ, such intelligence on Coruscant has only existed deep in Jedi Temples & Lusankya
-Ancient Rakata scriptures tell of two Starforges who will descend upon the Galaxy and will bring an era of enlightenment and unprecedented technological progress with them
-They own Sienar R&D labs around the galaxy
-You likely have TIE Fighters inside you right now
-The Mofference is in regular communication with the Prophets Kadann and Jedgar, forwarding the word of Dark Greetings to the Nightsisters of Dathomir. Who do you think set up the meeting between the Prophets of the Dark Side & the Sorcerers of Tund (First meeting between the two organisations in over 1000 years) and arranged the Tund leader’s first trip to the Centrality in history literally a few days later to the Star Cave of ThonBoka?
-They learned fluent Shyriiwook in under a week
-Planetary governments entrust their credit reserves with the Mofference. There’s no holocrons in Ossus, only Ft. Moffort
-The Moffs are about 7 decades old, from the space-time reference point of the base human currently accepted by our society
-In reality, they are timeless beings existing in all points of time and space from the big bang to the end of the Expanded Universe. We don’t know their ultimate plans yet. We hope they’re benevolent beings.

Who came up with the name "First Order," anyway? Not only is it bland as fuck, it's nonsensical. What about them is "First?" Their tech is derivative, their doctrine is derivative, their iconography is derivative, their main Force-sensitive enforcer is trying to emulate a predecessor, and countless people have used the Dark Side before them. Said Force-sensitive enforcer also uses a lightsaber that is based on previously existing designs, so he hasn't innovated there, either.

It was Palpatine's first order for the strongest of the Imperial military to leave via Jakku and form a new empire in the Unknown Regions. As in, of his many contingency orders upon his death, that was his first.

This new empire is therefore the embodiment of his first order. It is, as such, called The First Order.

*EPT - Veteran Instincts (1)
>Captain Rex (14)

*Proton Rockets (3)

Opponent was running Tycho w/ Rage and PTL, as well as Proton Rockets; Jake Farrell with Proton Rockets (don't remember talents or mod), and Sabine Wren (shuttle version) with Chewie Crew, PTL, and Autoblaster turret

Is it mentioned anywhere why the Empire ran to a shithole like Jakku after losing Endor?
>>
>>51879321
You are so, so wrong.
>>
>>51879361
The Emperor ordered, Picard made it so.
>>
>>51879361
Because Jakku was where the "observatory" was, housing Sheev's ancient mechanism to plot a path into the Unknown Regions.

Jakku is described as having not always been a shithole, instead having been lush with life a long, long time ago. But the planet is dying. And there was supposed to have been some weird dark Force ritual where the "spark" of the planet was extinguished by Rax throwing one of Sheev's sycophants down a well into the core. But Rae Sloane killed Rax and sealed the well, or something.

That was supposed to have destroyed Jakku and with it, both the old Imperial Fleet and the fledgling New Republic. But she saved the galaxy from that fate.

Meanwhile, the strongest parts of the Imperial military were supposed to retreat from Jakku, through the path opened by that observatory mechanism, and begin a new Empire. That part still happened, despite the rest of the plan not quite going off.

So yeah, it's mentioned.

Are Imperial Intelligence's uniforms red, or was that just a thing the Isaard's did because they could get away with it? In Edge of the Empire the pic of the II agent was wearing a red uniform, and all the people in the movies who are intelligence operatives whom we see wearing the cream-colored intelligence uniform are ISB, not II.

I'm thinking of running a game around some cloak-and-dagger shit involving ISB, II, CorSec and SpecOps, so it's a detail I'd like to clarify.

About Intelligence uniforms, something you might not have noticed: unlike with grand admirals, the pants are black.

>I learned these TIEs are particularly fragile though (possibly even more so than the Empire TIEs)

Someone lied to you my rebel friend, TIEs are very frail ships, they get by on numbers and synergy.

The Rebel TIEs are more about taking a relatively cheap support ship that will reliably survive via the title. Their pilots aren't as built for synergy or redundancy as Imperials, don't spam them like Imperials.

FFG explicitly stated that it's not a good idea to take more than one of these things when it was spoiled because that's more Imperial flavor.

Posted this last thread but didn't get any replies:

So for a legends post endor game where the players are an elite group of operatives who are doing there best to put out fires and keep the empire functioning (the group is an Emperors Hand, if that makes sense, went for a mass effect group feel), and the new Republic has had it's legends miracle success dampened to the point the imperial and republic forces are evenly and phyrically matched, what does tg think of introduced the following galactic threat.

I like the high concept of the vong with the biotechnology alienness to the Star Wars universe, but they were bad. What if I took the headcanon that the Emperor was prepping for something, and that it was the reawakening of an ancient sith alchemical power. I'm thinking ancient crystaline and biological creature spaceships and zombie type viruses, all loosely controlled by a fragmented mind of the sith who first created them. Used to fight off the Rakata in ages past before being defeated but some survived and went into hibernation.
Inspired by the vong, mass effect reapers, and homeworld cataclysm beast. Thoughts? Would you hate/like this? Things to improve/change?
>>
Why is most of NuCanon stuff so fucking bland?

I don't know how to describe it, but it just feels sterile and lifeless, for the most part.

>Palps
>Prepping for a Sith-created threat
Not a fan of this idea. It makes more sense for Palps to take control of it and adapt the tech. Palps prepping against a threat in general undermines the fundamental nature of the character. He does things because he wants to enjoy his power.

The Expanse has something similar with sort of a cold-war happening between Mars and Earth, outside fringe groups in the asteroid belts and then someone throws an alien organism in there which subsumes things like a big, weird arse hive mind.

Might be worth looking at for ideas, the idea that it was a sith/darkside construction isn't too bad- but for the most part you want that kind of archaeology buried deep with some successive, very hard rolls to find out what the fuck it is. Until then its a 'bitey problem' that will do whatever it does and is next to impossible to eradicate as hitting it with energy tends to make it rather happy. I'd probably counter that kind of ability with the fact that its not exactly quick or smart and running on a primal kind of instinct... at least until its absorbed a fair few people.

So I had an idea to add to my EotE game and run it by /tg/ first: I won't lie, it was largely inspired by having played way too much space engineers and starbound the idea was that scattered across the known galaxy, are individuals, not necessarily strong in the force, but still exceptionally talented individuals in construction and robotics who have gone out into the uncharted regions of the galaxy to utilize those skills largely for their wn amusement, inadvertently building tiny empires of droids to collect resources from uninhabited worlds and asteroids to supply their many projects and automated ships to move those resources to wherever their projects are being carried-out, there may well be a dozen or more of these "Silent Empires" scattered across the known galaxy, going largely unnoticed.

that's probably the best I can articulate the general concept as of right now.
>>

Wait a sec didnt >>51874337 say he needed them deployed post haste? Going through academy wouldny be very fast. What if you choose a small ish backwater ourpost and plant the players as 'survivors' of a rebel attack? Have some rather 'obvious' data corruption in the base computers and several dead imps, in fact have ALL dead imps so that there is noone who could recognize the players. Have them say a rebel strileforce struck without warning and they hid rather than fight (locker, under the bed, or maint tunnels, ect.) and later managed to reactivate the base's auto alert systems to send for help.

I figure if someone goes through that they get pulled back to the fleet for a debriefing as well as reassignment. Plus, how often does the empire really fight the rebels? How many officers or just imp navy personell can claim a combat tour? It could make them some sort of propaganda piece as the 'only survivors of outpost -------' so they could ask to be reassigned to a permanent fleet posting somewhere important.

The attack and raid allows for the change to the personell files as well as a good positioning and covera any data gaps since the players have the 'oh my data on that must have been lost in that raid i survived' excuse.

An idea I played about with a little bit but have never thought of using was this:

Sheev noticed the possibility of a potential threat to his power if he ever got it, and sought to wipe it out completely by implicating it in his absurdly convoluted master plan: the Kaminoans and Bacta Automata. Part of the driving force behind his engineering of the clone wars was to comfortably wipe out in one swoop the Jedi and the two power bases with the reasonable capability to create a galaxy-fighting large army in secret.
For the most part, Palpatine's usage of the clones was intelligently designed to turn them against the Jedi, but he could never quite shake the concern that the Kaminoans could do it to him. If these clones were the main fighting force of his new Galactic Empire, who is to say that Order 67 isn't "The Kaminoans are now the Senate!"
He's paranoid to a fault sometimes, and this was part of the motivation behind the Kaminoan genocide and the establishment of the Stormtrooper corps.
Only, the isolationist Kaminoans spreading out across the galaxy was a diaspora he hadn't completely accounted for. After Sheev's fall, a villain rises out of the chaos - not just with an instrument of brute power, like a clone army, but an expert cloner, already eccentric and ambitious by his own species standards during the clone wars, but now addled by time. He seeks to puppet both governments from the shadows, kidnapping, replicating and replacing key figures in the Republic and the Imperial Remnant. His goal? Unification of the galaxy under a single government - but a government of his toys, enacting the vision he deems desirable.
>>
>>51884433
Yeah imperial remnant vs new Republic, but a larger more cohesive remnant that in legends due to player influence.
Palpatines motivation was still very much infinite powah, it just that once he was Emperor and able to direct more resources at his esoterical sith studies he became aware of a potential and growing threat. I'm trying to ensure players get the idea that if he had still been around and in complete control of everything it wouldn't have been a problem.
>>51884582
Well both my group and I want to keep playing, but unless something new happens the game is just gonna be the empire and republic wearing each other down to the point they both collapse and that's the end of galactic superpowers. Could certainly be cool but as the players have spend the game up to this point holding the remnant together it would be a let down end to just see all of their work gradually go down the toilet.

Sempai (dude who posted about Atha Prime) here - this is pretty much what I'm running in my campaign. Except he's not Kaminoan - instead he's an Arkanian geneticist and heir to the Spaarti family.

He worked with Palpatine before the Clone Wars as a consultant on the genetic modifications made to the clones. The two were particularly close, and revealed to each other that they were independently searching for immortality - cloner/geneticist through science, Sheev through the Force. They joined forces, searching for a breakthrough together that would allow them to transfer their consciousness into newly cloned bodies.

Sound kinda familiar?

Palpatine reported that he had found the secret... but no longer needed his loyal cloner, Spaarti. So he orchestrated the man's downfall and had him imprisoned for the remainder of his rule as Emperor.

Now, with the Emperor's death, this cloner is pulling strings around the galaxy to do three things:

1. Escape from his prison.

2. Make sure the Emperor's plans for cloning and resurrection never happen.

3. Seize that power for himself.

He intends to create a perfect line of clone soldiers based on his own genetic template, called ATHA: the Artificially Tailored Heterogenetic Arkanian. With the power to transfer his consciousness into a new body (assuming he can find the help of a useful Force sensitive... one of the reasons he needs the PCs), he will become ATHA Prime, and control his army of Clone Warriors as they attack the remnants of the Empire from without... while clones of important figures insidiously work from the shadows within.

I... really hope that my players don't read this.

Either the Remnant collapses or the Republic, or both.

Either way there's LOADS of storytelling you c an get out of that rather than just continually adding new byllshit.

Perhaps the players become warlords, aiming to restore a resurgent empire down the line, maybe they strike out into the unknown regions and become the First Order of their own design.

>>
>>51885821
Not good storytelling for a player to enjoy playing. Both sides are on route to collapse, and take galactic civilization with in. Player actions have resulted in a turtling, siege, and supply raiding strategy. Neither side is capable of replacing losses because the ships that would be supplying shipyards with resources are shipping food to starving core worlds, when those ships or the supplying farm worlds aren't being destroyed and bombed by the other side.

I've been giving the player mass effect commander sheperd levels of influence without being in direct command of much, and the war they've chosen to fight doesn't look like it'll end as long as there're still starships to fight it with. The galaxy is experiencing a true galactic war that the Clone Wars never were, and it's not going well for anyone.
As far as I can tell my players are still having fun, but unless a curveball gets thrown I don't see it ending in anything other than fire and ashes.
>>

My first real FFG game my players grabbed the E-9 as their party ship, the "Hot Getaway". Scum are getting close with the Quadjumper but the fact that they don't have anything which can mass equip EM - only Scavenger Crane - makes them way less reliable about it.

Well the problem is, pal, that the situation you're describing is such that a third group of magic enemies arriving wouldn't get things moving, it would just collapse everything early.
Your players have made the collapse impossible to avert, and they ought to have to deal with that fact
>>
>>51887764
I was just thinking along real historical lines that usually the only things to get warring enemies to unite is an even more alien to them enemy. That or the one group sides with the outsider for a quick win that bites them later.

I'm certainly open to different ideas to make the collapse interesting and not just a dull 'everything you've worked for is slowly undone' type affair. They've already said they don't want any time skips.

Kuat shipyards got destroyed as one of the first blows the new Republic struck against the empire post endor, although the players managed to arrange the escape of a barely functional ssd hull, which has become a mobile shipyard for the empire.
Coruscant is in dire straights but now solidly imperial, as they had hid behind their shields until starvation forced them to drop them, at which point the players snuck proton bombs onto the New Republic relief convoy and irradiated half the planet in the blast.
Remaining shipyards are heavily defended by whoever controls them but supplies are scarce. Privacy and smuggling are rampant. Hutts are having a field day.
Corellia of course declared independence and is probably doing better than most.

I'd say the galaxy is 30/30/40 imperials/new republic/other, with other including warlords, criminals, and systems vying for independence

Like there's lots of interesting things going on, and I'd love to run a game in the current setting with low xp edge characters, but the players and even I are quite attached to the current party, so I'm looking for a way to keep things going an interesting for us.

The Great Sith War looked like this, and it was only a few years apart from KOTOR 1. Before KOTOR came along, the era looked appropriately archaic and fantastical. Then suddenly, along comes BioWare's lazy art team and now everything Old Republic-related looks like a cheap rehash of PT and OT tech.

There was a little bit of both knights and samurai in there. The lamellar armor worn by dragon dildo gunman also looks more Asian-flavored than Western.

Blame whoever said the Galaxy had Hyperdrive for 25K years. You should be mad that the pt and ot aren't advanced enough. They should have had transporters, replicators and etc. Also they shouldn't look like swords and sorcery in ToJ. If anything they should look more like us now. Going off of that aesthetic, what do you imagine the Zhell Armor would've been during the Zhell-Taung War? We already have the Taung armor. Basically Zhell are Human ancestors fighting the Taung Mandalorian ancestors over control of Coruscant. Taung briefly won but then Zhell threw them out.

>>51890427
The whole original idea behind that is that the original force users were gray looking aliens that controlled everything in that galaxy and have the most advance technology but yet these grays enslaved every other known race and some taught their slaves the way of the force. So when these slaves, trained in the force, rebelled and destroyed everything those gray like aliens created. The galaxy went back in time to a more simple way of life with the ability to travel the stars at FTL speeds while having a basic understanding of that technology, along with the weapons that came from that gray aliens type people. I believe even in later stories, apart from the DarkHorse comics, also played into this, having some of the old republic soldiers, ancient jedi's and sith finding that technology and using it for their own use. The Star Forge, comes to mind. So basically for those thousands and thousands of years, there was no real technology to advance on as everything was already advance. It is just those freed slaves now having to understand and engineer old technology into new. Another case in point, the ancient jedi lightsabers being on cabled batteries, instead of a completely handheld device.
>>
>>51894482
It's Star Wars, it's supposed to be stupid and over the top. I do agree that most armour in TOR is shit but it's an MMO, you cant make 400 different kinds of armour and make them all look good.
>>51894625
It's people taking Obi Wan's 1000 Generations line literally, and also writers having no sense of scale. Tales of the Jedi is still bad but it's bearable compared to the others.

Bad in terms of technology scaling, rather than quality of the comics themselves.
>Just relearning their ancient past.
I just prefer settings where people advance by actually doing it themselves rather than copying what happened before them. The ancient technology things never really mattered until KotOR came up with the Rakata and then suddenly everything was now made by the Rakata & friends. Ancient aliens did appear earlier but tended to be one-off artifacts (Centerpoint) or fairly minor races that are usually isolated to a certain area (Gree)

The AIAT/i fits that description and looks like an old WWII seaplane.

It's pre-Clone Wars-era military tech, probably designed to be easily maintained. It's 45% engines, 45% cargo hold, 10% everything else, so fairly cramped - there's seating for four in the cockpit, and any living quarters would have to be retrofitted.

I love it, though.

The two responses you got were an AIAT/i, which is:

Personally, I would say a HWK-290, which is small, easily maintainable and hyperspace capable.

Do you like killing your enemies before they even get to shoot at you? Take Warden squadrons with bombs and mines with Sabine crew and laugh manically as you kill defenders without ever having to shoot through their evade token.

Miranda is also the most versatile regen ship that Rebels have. I've had major success with her for the last few weeks, and am going to be taking her to the system open I'm going too.

Also the upgrades it comes with are all pretty damn good, and good with the K-wing specifically. You don't have to go hunting down two other obscure expansions to make it work, it does so right out of the box.

>And having the first crossover character from tv show to movie
How is that a risk when only rebels and clone wars fans that watched said shows would have any negative/positive associations with said characters.

>>51899998
>>51900194
Killing off the main characters, characters that were barely given any character to begin with, that were only introduced in the movie isn't taking a risk, otherwise war/slasher movies would be the riskiest movies ever.
No Jedi is more of a risk, but not a big one when it was practically a selling point among Star Wars fans.

>>51900175
CGI Tarkin was a thing before Disney even bought Lucas Arts, I don't see how the CG characters was a big risk other than how close to the camera they were.
Only Americans think that downer ending are even close to being a bad thing.

Space bin landen and space ISIS were condemned already in the start of the movie, and was made out to be a group of renegades and fanatics, that even the rebels wanted dead long before we even saw them or even 90% of the main cast. Hell they even spoke not-arab just to drive it home that these aren't even close to being the same guys as the 70's nice guy American freedom fighter rebels and their token Fishman/Sulustrian sidekicks.
There was no ambiguity or anything, they were just another group of bad guys, that just happened to be lead by the main character's adoptive father, who abandoned her so she wouldn't become SpISIS too, which she hated him for.
I don't see how that was a big risk when they covered their ass so well that they might as well have welded their assholes shut on that point.

Yes spies and intelligence people murder people that are too much of a hindrance to their goal, and it was nice that they didn't make him Jedi-chop them over the neck so they fainted like an old James bond movie, but they barely showed any of that, and I even forgot that he killed any non-combatants other than his botched attempt at Galen.
>>
>>51900704
>Only Americans think that downer ending are even close to being a bad thing.

Because taking a hit in the US market wouldn't be a bad thing at all for them, no sir.

>otherwise war/slasher movies would be the riskiest movies ever.

This isn't a war/slasher movie, it's a Star Wars movie. Calling someone a fucking cunt in an Australian social commentary drama ain't a risk, doing it in a Teletubbies movie is.

>and I even forgot that he killed any non-combatants other than his botched attempt at Galen.

It being a Star Wars movie doesn't matter, dying main characters have been done before in far better movies and even in Star Wars.
