The biggest thing it has over the Leman Russ battle tank is that it can fire Barrage so that can be nice for ignoring some cover if the enemy units are in the open behind something that blocks LoS.

I personally love Basilisks, but they just aren't very strong for being 125 points. 2 Wyverns for only 5 more points get so much more mileage.

Opinions on 30k stuff in 40k?
I've been thinking about using mk 3 and 4 marines to represent the elite first squads of each company- I really prefer the 40k Dark Angels scheme over 30k and am phasing out the 25 mm bases (fug mixed base sizes).

I enjoy instilling a narrative when I field my models. Modelling and painting are what draws me to the hobby. When I want my army to be something other than god awful generic GW models I turn to 3rd party suppliers. If I were to purchase my army from FW directly my troop selection alone would be more than $1000. Charging 53 USD for 10 Kriegers is downright highway robbery. If you pay 53 USD for around 50 points base of models you may possibly need a crash helmet.

I enjoy instilling a narrative when I field my models. Modelling and painting are what draws me to the hobby. When I want my army to be something other than god awful generic "third party" models I turn to Forgeworld. If I were to purchase my army from third parties directly my troop selection alone would be cheap, but no longer fit the aesthetic and setting of 40k. Charging 53 USD for 10 Kriegers is a fair price if you want high quality miniatures. If you believe generic alternatives really look fine alongside actual FW miniatures you may need a reality check.

I'm looking to start an Imperial Guard army to ally to my Space Marines, but I'm mostly playing against Tyranids so I'm quite afraid that by just picking units that look cool or provide synergy I'll just rape Nids every game, as the average unit in the Guard codex seems to be quite effective. Any advice on how to build a fun, dynamic Guard list that isn't MSU (as my Marines cover that) and that does NOT negate 'Nids outright?

The Guard aren't really that strong outside of a few solid units like Wyverns and Vendettas. If you want to pick units that would be fun against Tyranids it depends on what he plays. If he has a big ass swarm of small guys, ally in a Platoon of Guardsmen which is 5 for the Platoon Command Squad and 2 squads of 10 Guardsmen base. Then you can take a big ass 30-50 man Conscript blob with a Priest to make them Fearless. Then run them across the field to have big blob fights.

If he has mostly MCs, take some Bullgryn so they can have big people fights.

I'm really in love with this game desu. I spend most of my free time on youtube watching battle reports and ppl playing it since it gets boring after a while when I play on paper scraps in place of miniatures.

You can only use 1 Melta Bomb or grenade per phase so not many, but S3 can wound T6 so you could have a massive amount of S3 hits going against the Carnifex. Take 30-50 dudes and put in a Priest so they re-roll hits on the first round of combat and the Priest can use War Hmyns to re-roll to wound rolls in close combat.

If you want to sink more points, add in a Primaris Psyker for psychic powers and also a force axe for instant deathing MCs. And if you want to sink even more points, give the Sergeants Power Axes for S4 Ap2.

Drop all the Vox casters since Creed has a rule that already makes his orders re-roll, drop the med pack too.

With those points, add in a Commissar and turn those Scions into the Hellrain Brigade formation or turn them into an Allied Detachment with the Commissar as the HQ.

While I do think the Astropath is good, he's not going to be that useful if you also have the Master of Ordnance there since you can only cast Witchfire powers inside the Chimera and Psychic Shriek has short range. If you want to have an Astropath in the army, add in the Imperial Agents Astropath. It's essentially the same unit, it just has access to more powers, more upgrades and is an Independent Character instead of being an upgrade for the Company Command Squad, so you can ally him into a 20 man blob which would make him have an easier time casting different powers.

Also the Autocannon is kind of random in the Platoon Command Squad. You might want to consider putting it in Creed's unit since it has long range, would have better BS and also would be safer inside the transport.

Also if you have enough points left over from dropping the vox casters and med pack, consider putting Camo Netting on the Chimera.

Who ever wrote 7th had a massive bonner for apoc games and said "You know what lets make apoc the standard template for all the other games." Its awful. They really do need to find a way to fix formations.

It's one of the few things AoS has that I'd like to see implemented in 40k: Formations having a points cost. So take, for example, Riptide Wing. It'd still be a formation, but there'd be a straight points tax to use it, along with the points to be paid for the actual units contained in it.

Iirc, the vindicator formation that let you do a pie plate of doom, cost like...150(?) plus the vindicators. Also they were only available in apoc games.

Rumors i have heard from a very reliable source, is that 8th is doing away with ally matrix and they are going to have 2 ways to play.

A simple version that has rules cut out to make it not horrible kinda like sigmar, and a more complicated version thats rumored to be 30k isk.

Now idk if its GW making 30k or making 40k with 30k rules.....im hoping the later really really badly.

But in all reality as a dark angels player, im fucking terrified right now that GW is going to make the meme a reality. Im gonna be really pissed if they do, i have im pretty sure like $800 worth of dark angels models fully painted and almost done based.

As for the Ally Matrix... I'll be sad to see it go but it's for the best. For a game that's always touted "Your Dudes", there's still some inflexibility. What about Ork-looted Tyranids? Freshly rogue Marines buddying up with more Chaotic brethren? A Dark Eldar genestealer cult? If everyone was just Allies of Convenience, that would free up weird/fun options whilst limiting some Battle Brother cheese.

Why do waacfags even play this game anywhere but an extremely competitive setting? When all you run are the top meta lists of the time, where's the fun in that? Even more so if you change armies every edition without even knowing the lore.

Is it really that fun to table someone turn two? Everytime I've ever done it, I've just felt really bad for the other guy. Who hurt these damaged souls?

I know a guy, who always comes off as a WAAC guy, but he actually knows all the lore stuff, and honestly just ends up making broken armies with any army you give him, he almost has a nack for it. But oddly, he does not run tau or eldar because even he admits its bullshit.

You know mate, I actually agreed with you until the dubstep came up in the song.

It's not that I hate dubstep or that it's bad or anything. It's that the dubstep does not fit with the rest of the song or the Nightlord's theme. It should be dour and/or threatening, not with random video game sound effects that are bright and cheery. The lyrics and the non-dubstep parts fit perfectly, but that gets interrupted every 30 seconds and takes you out of the experience.

What this song is actually perfect for is Dark Eldar. The cheery sounding dubstep contrasting against the dour soft-rock fits perfectly for the Dark Eldar's sex-drugs-rocknroll life style contrasting against their need to torture to survive and the fact they damned their race. The "not being scared of your stolen power" lyric works in terms of their relationship to the psykers. They don't use them, but go toe-to-toe with races which do, and being a psyker is really just stealing power from the warp.

Then again, this is apparently bait, so don't know why I'm making an intelligent response.
