Is this a good party?
>>
>>51804477
no, the whole point is that he's stuck with a garbage party. even counting aqua's god level anti-undead.

>>51804477

It's the best party
>>
>>51804477

It's the group of bumbling retards the world needed.

Individually, they are useless. Over specialized to the point of worthlessness. But in a pretty short period of time, they have already beaten 2 of the devil kings generals and befriended another.

Aqua's shitty God powers breaking unholy effects, with Darkness able to tank anything and Megumin insists on overkill explosions. They can't beat a lot of things, but they are a great party for taking on single powerful bosses.

They might actually be able to do this and save the world.
>>
>>51804477

No. The entire point of the series, and the comedy, is precisely that they are a terrible party. The cleric is cancer, the thief is a shitter, the mage can't cast more than one spell, and the tank... is actually the closest thing to reasonable in the party, despite being into getting devoured by monsters.

The series relies on the party being a bunch of dumbasses trying to not get mangled horribly as a sorce of funnies.
>>
>>51804477
From a "actually get shit done" level? GOD no, they fucking suck.
From a "entertaining and enjoy each other" level? Fuck yes, they are the best
>>
>>51804789
Holy shit, I never realized that they are specialized for bosses.
>>
>>51804789

So the party of assholes are Experts at mugging loners.
>>
>>51804746

At least they are all on the same page in terms of how serious the campaign is supposed to be. That's always step 0 of a good party.
>>
>>51807261
no I don't think they're all on the same page on seriousness, I'm pretty sure the thief is the one who actually wants to save the world.
>>
>>51807303
>I'm pretty sure the thief is the one who actually wants to save the world.
He just wants to get rich and live an easy life but he lets himself get dragged around by the others.
>>
>>51804477
It's a Chaotic Neutral / Neutral party.
>>
>>51807371
he wants to be the big damn hero so he CAN get rich and live the easy life, but every time he thinks he's got it shit goes boom
usually literally, thanks to best girl
last episode I saw involved him getting arrested because the teleport went random, did it continue past that?
>>
>>51807398
Anon, there's another season airing right now. I haven't read all the books but he eventually gets rich through means entirely unrelated to being a hero.

No they're not dysfunctional enough.
>>
>>51810464
Now THAT is a fun party.
Not at all fun to exist in the same universe with, but yeah, they are the best party bar none for shenanigans no matter how they repeat their flaws.
>>
>>51804477
Hypothetically, it's a great party.

A Crusader with an insane amount of HP.
An Archpriestess with amazing stats except for Int and Luck.
An Archmage with insanely great power, and access to one of the highest damage spells right out of the gate.
And an adventure that, while having kinda meh stats, has insane luck and can be trained up to have fantastic stats.

The problem is that the Konosuba team are all fucking terrible because of their personalities.

>>

She is supposed to have chestnut hair though, the bright orange is only there for the main anime series and some of the illustrations.
>>

Shut up with your lies. Her hair is orange, that is that.
>>
>>51804477
No, they're trash.

But they're my kind of trash, and I will defend that feeling to the death.
>>
>>51807758

I"ll allow it.
>>
Aqua is the best girl. She is the most fun too. She keeps the party together and alive.
>>
>>51804789
Aqua can also raise the dead/reincarnate and resurrect. Create cheat items. Banish people to other worlds. Flood this or any other world. And a bunch of other stuff that's not on her character sheet. She's got literal God powers but she's so dumb she doesn't think to use them.
>>
>>51804838
>Joel, would you please stop using combat expertise? I mean what the fuck did even take that feat for? You don't use any combat maneuvers.
>Hey, I didn't complain when you said you wanted to be a Blaster Caster at creation. Anyways, I'm still doing more than our cleric who thought he could key off CHA instead of WIS.
>Dude, check out my fucking perform ranks though.
>You're all shitters.
>Shut up, you're not even unchained.
>>
Megumin best
>>
>>51804838
It's been a while, but isn't there a part where her being "into getting devoured by monsters" makes her useless, because they get weirded out and start attacking the rest of the party?
>>
>>51810514
Hadoken versus Explosion. Surviving casters are tapped out for the rest of the day.

(It's the most obvious parallel, but frankly there's a lot of overlap with the Light Warriors. BM to Megumin, Red Mage to Kazuma, Fighter to Darkness... and I guess attitude-wise Thief and Aqua are both arrogant as fuck, but they're nothing alike power-wise and extremely little alike on character)

>>
>>51804477

In all honesty, it's not. The point of this show is that it's a comedy series. Depressingly, if they ran into actual PCs, they'd just die anticlimatically. Like, you know what your average party is like.

Darkness is straight up slumming, full stop.

She's capable of being a good tank, she's got the skillset to be a good tank, but she's intentionally a bad one because she enjoys what that brings.

Even Megumi is bad at this shit because she's got no concept of how the fuck to be a mage.

Remember, Darkness specifically sought them out to join them, because they were the worst party. She's the only one who could get honest work as an adventurer in a real group.

>>51818881
The EXP overhaul was the beginning of a downward spiral. A handful of cool stuff got introduced along the way, like the new sparkly conjurations, but the overhaul of the EXP system marks the beginning of the watering down of the game into one extremely narrow playstyle: minmax, autopilot, fight, repeat. Anything that got in the way of that playstyle was removed, including anything that could even remotely be used to grind or scum (the logic being that scumming is boring for minmaxers, so it shouldn't be in the game).

By now, they've removed fucking teleport control for being "too reliable".

It makes me feel kind of bittersweet that I picked up Crawl during its arguably best days, when future seemed bright and people weren't obsessed with making everything as streamlined as possible. I remember when Ashenzari was introduced and thought it was the dopest shit ever.

Nice fanfic.
>>
>>51820536
Pretty much. The draw of the series is watching as the main characters go as far and as hard off the rails as they possibly can.

If this series was a tabletop game, the GM probably spends most of the time ripping up his meticulously planned out notes and chucking them into the trash, and ad-libbing furiously whenever the players do things like, say, repeatedly blow up an abandoned castle from range without even realizing that it's the damn plot hook dungeon.
>>
>>51820664
To be fair to the guy, it's not bad by fanfic standards. His self-insert isn't a total Gary Stu and does shit that would be fairly reasonable in the setting.
>>
>>51820698
It's a story about how he burns Aqua so hard she can't handle it, then turns the original party into his slaves to become the richest man with no consequences. How is that not self-insert fanfic
>>
>>51810464
really kinda reminds me of that series in that they are the most likely extreme of their classes

only difference is that they all think they are the best ever whereas Kazuma's party are humble enough to leave all the thinking to Kazuma

At what point have any of them been humble at all? They allow him to do the thinking because they only care about the part where they get to do their one thing.

>slaves
>implying it's not a dysfunctional rag-tag team of people that constantly fight over money, much less make a profit including the merchant being a greedy fuck
Besides, it's less of a self-insert, and more of a "what if Kazuma met another dysfunctional party like his, except the guy did a smart thing and chose a job that suited him instead of being an adventurer".
That said, I'm not a sucker for both isekai and self-insert stuff. The characters have to be strongly-written and in situations others would find undesirable, otherwise there is no point.

So her mana pool is quite large, she's just casting a level 90 Explosion

>>

I don't about just generic fantasy but generic japanese fantasy is usually:
>MC is a japanese that died and was sent to a parallel fantasy world with magic and shit
>MC has some skill that is completely broken
>gets sent by the godess/king on a quest to defeat the evil Demon Lord and his armies
>gets bitches
>gets all the cool loot
>everyone loves him and everything goes his way
>he is a total moralfag
>his party is balanced and mostly made out of cute girls who want to fuck him
Konosuba is twisting this kind of story and making fun of it.

>>
>>51826496

We know luck is a stat. Make her an archery with low archery skill, but insanely high luck. Even higher than Kazuma's.

Every time she looses an arrow, she hits something. Every time.

Its almost never what she wanted to hit. But, in a way, its often what she "needed" to hit.

She can't actually aim for something in specific, what she hits is total RNG. Her high luck means that her sense of cause and effect is totally borked, because what she intended to do and what actually happens so rarely coincide. Her high luck carries her through her mistakes... but her high luck only protects HER.

So, like, she walks through the dungeon and steps on the fireball trap. She is fine, because it hit the dude behind her instead.
>>
>>51827225

To add to this: her high luck has limits to what it can accomplish, and when she is in that kind of situation she is more than useless because she expects fate to just turn up in her favor at the last moment so she just gets blindsided by defeat.

Druid: Can talk to animals. Only animals. Has to gesture/play charades to talk to people.
Bard: Antisocial fuck, very business-only/no fun allowed. Miserable at parties.
Monk: Everything in grappling, can't actually deal damage (similar to Darkness) but can grapple the fuck out of anything, can only really take a couple of hits though (unlike Darkness).
Sorcerer: Wild Magic+. Want a fireball? Better pray, because with a negative luck stat, you're getting summon steed. It usually works out though, there's little a mach 2 horse can't do that a fireball can, in combat.

Can't think of stuff for Barbarian and Warlock right now, it's 2 am.
>>
>>51827421
Monk is always worried about messing up their manicure.
>>
>>51827421
Monk is always going on about peace and tranquility, but it's mostly because they're a coward and can't fight for shit. They're an annoyingly moe crybaby and are a bullying magnet, and they're such a chicken shit that they usually just run away and cry at the first sign of danger.

They also have some kind of super overpowered skills that if they ever actually manned the fuck up they'd be one of the deadliest fighters in the world. But that's not happening any time soon.
>>
>>51827421

> Druid

Nudist (the way nature intended!) that can talk to and command animals. Is unwilling to risk the lives of said animals in a fight, because the druid values them more than worthless people.
But get them pissed enough and its just birds, birds fucking everywhere.

> Bard

Great storyteller. World reknown for their epic adventures. Has no actual fighting skills, most of his adventures are lies. Takes the credit after a particularly tough battle and gets kicked out of the party for gloryhogging.

> Paladin

Is the living manifestation of JUSTICE. Will abide no wrongdoing. Powerlevel scales to the level of the injustice they are trying to set right, so weak as a kitten against common thieves and a fucking terror to behold against sinful demon lord. Is very no fun allowed, takes their job too seriously, has no time for romance (that shit isn't justice). Comes back from the dead one time on their own because their crusade is not yet done.
Very at odds with the antics of Kazushit's party, but has heard of their victories against the demon king and is convinced they are allies of justice, if not perfect ones.

> Barbarian
From a long family line of barbarians. Is an okay fighter but just... doesn't get that angry, you know? Like, sure, he isn't exactly HAPPY about the situation but its not worth breaking a table over. But his family is full of rageaholics, and if he doesn't do the adventuring thing he will never hear the end of it.
Has an embarrassing secret hobby, and being teased about that/having his collection threatened is the only reliable way to send him into a rage. Once raging, has a hard time coming back down.

> Warlock
Gained power by indebting herself to a ton of demons. Has to carry around a book, each page a different contract to a different demon with the powers gained from it and restrictions that apply.
Its a pretty big book.
Some of the shit in there contradicts the other shit.
>>
>>51827764

> Sorcerer

Already have Megumin.

> Monk

Listen, the guy just wants to work out. Body improvement is his thing. He only took the monk class because of their physique bonus.
He is peak human in magical fantasy terms. Very strong, fast, and tough. But his workout regime to maintain that physique leaves little time for using it against monsters, and he rarely has any real desire to seek out such fights anyway. If you ask nicely he might help you beat up those giant frogs, but first he has to finish doing 500 squats.
Doesn't know how to use any weapons or armor. Never bothered to learn. But then again, he can punch through steel, so...

Alchemist: Potions are very effective. Maybe too effective. She is quiet normally, but when she gets a sudden moment of inspiration, she drops everything and goes for it. She will experiment with any ingredients and test them on herself, and sometimes others without their full knowledge, so her performance and mood are somewhat random every 6-12 hours. Has a petite body, so potions and alcohol have near-immediate effects on her, in spite of her gluttony. Uses chemical bombs and poisons to fight, but sometimes throws "buffs" at her allies to test its effects. She has poor aim, but her bombs are explosive enough to make up for it, assuming she doesn't hit her allies.

Artificer: She is great at making weapons and devices-- that look cool, but they're often anti-ergonomicall. She is also a perfectionist and is obsessed with detail (2/10 would not swing). She can fight ok and has outstanding dexterity, but is fickle with her weapons and doesn't want to ruin their condition.

Shaman: Has a powerful, but lazy spirit she can summon. Has learned helplessness since she relies on her lazy spirit to give her strength and party members to solve things. She can predict the future, but the predictions are so vague they are only useful if you follow them in some weird and figurative way. While dim-witted, she is surprisingly good at puzzles, but only after everyone else has tried.

Scout: Nosy, wanders off, ADD, and gets into trouble, but has outstanding perception, which makes her useful in predicting ambushes, but she's pretty much useless unless she is outnumbering a foe.

>>
>>51828536
She wouldn't be throwing the potion bottle itself (at least not always). However, her potions do have some side-effects. Her strength boost potions cause the target to go postal and become exhausted after battle. Her healing potions can fix you up real good, but they cause hallucinations and craving.

Pray to RNgesus when she experiments in battle! Things can go awesomely right or horribly wrong. You can become superman during battle (and probably get fucked up by after-effects) or create a chemical the monster is severely allergic to, or she can gimp you or supersize the enemy.

She's not too crazy, since she always rights her results down, so she won't make the same mistake twice. Which means that if she uses the same potion again, she considers it a successful product. FDA would hate her.

Fuck, I really want to make Alchemist-Chan.

Roast Wizard:

He has a nasty ability where he insults the target(s), bringing to light their weaknesses. Even against automatons it causes them to become more vulnerable to their opponent's effects. The effects of roasting can affect their performance, their mood, and even deal damage as a side-effect. Charisma counters this effect.
The Roast Wizard is a classy mofo with outstanding charisma. His only attack is a bitchslap, but if the enemy has been severely burned, he can do things that he can't normally do against them, such as deflect or block projectiles, counter spells, or remove armor and enchantments. His roasting powers are most effective with a group of allies or neutrals.
He is not without flaws. He's a jerk who is obsessed with being the most pimpin' and is excessively masculine. Cannot into diplomacy or bluffing, because he is an honest man who will give you the straight dope.

So Megumin?

So what about Wizard?

>Wizard
Has legit autism; likely asperger's syndrome. Is a master at one or two spells to the point where he can almost literally do it in her sleep, but is not interested in studying other spells. Not sure which spell, though. Maybe lightning bolt or frost. (S)he suffers from the "all you have is a hammer" problem, except unlike Megumin, (s)he can apply his/her power in unconventional ways.
Of course, one of her obvious flaws is low charisma and wisdom.

She can cast high level magics near instantly, but once casted they are minimized. Basically looks like she is casting a gigantic spell...But it's tiny.

>The meteor storm summons a hail of tiny gravel bits that slightly hurt the enemy.

>The frost Lance hits the enemy.. but it's the size of a toothpick and deals 1 damage

Quirk
>She panics easily, if a bush rustles she shoots a barrage of chain lightnings/blizzards/meteors which slightly damage/freeze/burn what it hits

Overcoming her weakness:

The last time they encounter a full PC party Kazuma beats the shit out of them alone.

You just don't know how broken he is.
Look at the first princes volume where he breaks into the castle.
As long as he's motivated he'll beat anyone.

Notice his skill set:
>archery (with godly accuracy thanks to high Luk)
>sense enemy/trap/hidden door
>stealth, farsight, enemy detection
>disengage/dash/escape skill
>basic 5 elemental cantrips
>drain touch - steal mana , HP and down the opponents Str for a time
>recently probably learned the entertainer buff from Aqua so he can pretty much infiltrate anywhere

If that world had a spell-assassin class then Kazuma would be it.

My belief is that his luck stats means he is essentially rolling nat 20s on everything, which is why when you put him with a normal party he does so well. Its just that when he's with his actual party his successes get brought down to "barely scraping by" because one of the three retards is botching all her rolls at any given moment.

Which is also why that castle heist was so GOAT, Chris has ever better luck then him so that whole sequence was them rolling crits EVERYWHERE on EVERYTHING

>Kazuma can Drain Touch someone to give her MP in emergencies

>>
>>51832519
>Kazuma can Drain Touch someone to give her MP in emergencies
How? If her max mp is 0, then drain touch shouldn't restore anything. And if her max isn't 0, then it should restore over time.

>literally endless source of random spell knowledge for Kazuma to crib skills from
He needs to see someone using the skill or spell before he can learn it. And if she has no mp, she can't use anything that requires mp. But her knowledge on what skills/spells to learn would be useful.
>>
>>51832557
I know how to improve the wizard.

Has various items to increase her mana to appropriate level. Enchants, staves, what have you.

The wizard is a traditional absent minded one though. She spends all her time studying the spells and constantly forgets to bring her tools of the trade. Alternatively, she always loses her items somewhere, having forgotten where she stored the bloody things.

>Bard
He is the son of a legendary flutist and a beautiful singing maiden. The father can rouse even a band of lepers into becoming as brave and ferocious as the most elite army unit, and the mother's calming voice can calm even the most destructive storms. Their son, having inherited both of their talents, sets out to inspire Kazuma's party and help them defeat the Demon King.

He also has incredible stage fright and can't sing, dance or play an instrument when anyone's looking at him
>>
>All these character suggestions
>Not one shota trap that causes Kazuma to freak out with the confused boners he gets.

You disappoint me, /tg/.
>>
>>51833194
No. It's you who's dissapointing.
>>
>>51833194
In Konosuba's spirit of subversion, the trap turns outo to be the loudest, most brash and hotheaded character so far. More like a shonen protagonist than a wimp.
>>
>>51833194
Kazuma's straight man ability makes that not work out well considering it's a very one note joke

The better alternative would be a shota trap who all the girls keep forgetting is actually a guy, and he's all too happy to take advantage of that. So Kazuma ends up having to remind everybody constantly. The major flaw being, that's all the character does. They're supposed to be a "Buff" class, but they invested all their points into deception and persuasion, but Kazuma just has a +50 circumstance bonus to his bullshitometre after dealing with his party for so long, and not be attracted in the slightest to the trap.
>>
>>51833328
That's the best I've got.

The trap is a bard who HATES playing music, and absolutely refuses to use any abilities that require it. But has an insane investment in disguise/deception/persuasion. The only "buff" that works is "acts cute for a small morale bonus" that doesn't work on Kazuma because he's disgusted by it. He's kinda underhanded in that he's always trying to bargain a bigger share/payment, and the rest of the party fall for it easily until Kazuma reminds them "that's a guy, and he's trying to bullshit you" and brings them to their senses, but he has to do it EVERY TIME.

(Darkness probably doesn't fall for it, she just likes the idea of a guy just taking advantage of her 'weakness' socially to get what he wants and goes along with it.)
>>
>>51833328
>>51833368
See now that's using your imagination.

Did me proud, /tg/.
>>
>>51833368
Bonus: Not just the girls, but other adventurers forget that the shota is a trap. So it becomes a running gag that the trap playings the "Why are you bullying that poor defenseless little girl!" card when other adventurers are around, further tarnishing his already shitty reputation, or at least temporarily until Kazuma reminds them the trap is a fucking dude.

Kazuma's character sheet as seen in s2ep3. He's level 18, and has 41 Strength.
>>
>>51831463
>>51834181
And here's Megumin's, from s2ep2. She has 50 Strength.

(However, she's also 12 levels higher than he is, so it is a bit of an unfair comparison. I don't have time to go back and look at their charsheets at earlier levels, but I'm sure if I did it would show that Kazuma would be higher Str than Megumin if they were the same level.)

It's actually just the Latin alphabet and numerals, and if you look carefully at the various places the runes show up in the show you can piece it all together from context and the resemblance to the Latin characters they correspond to.

I don't have time to walk you through every screenshot I used to figure it out, but just for example look at the big letters at the top -- their names. Kazuma's sheet says "Kazuma Satou", Megumin's says "Megumin". See the corresponding letters?

The numerals are of course rather trickier to figure out just from these two screenshots, but if you compare their charsheets as they level up and look at other places where numbers show up (like the service windows and bounty posters in the adventurer's guild) it all falls into place.

Heaps of Japanese NEETs are sent into that world with cheat powers/items.

Most of them earn a lot of dosh and become NEETs again quickly getting bored of being adventurers.
Then they either get backstabbed or recruited by nobles depending on wherther or not their cheat was an item that can be stolen or a skill/ability.

Also:

People always seem to complain about animation in anime. I only started watching anime a year ago after not watching for a decade or more and for the life of me I just can't see it. The animation seems fine. I've heard that little witch academia has bad animation too.

I understand that some anime movies have some noticibly great scenes but for the most part TV all seems the same. What anime qualifies for good animation with you people?
>>
>>51835651
> What anime qualifies for good animation with you people?
Honestly, it's mostly the same shit as long as it's not two-frame South Park-ish slideshow.
If you want an example of what other people usually consider good graphics in anime, Ufotable usually does a pretty good job.
That said, I think proper stylistics are more important than shit like lighting, special effects, body proportions etc. I can forgive absolutely any visual sin to anime if it executes its style flawlessly.
