but even though it hit 10,000 supporters, Lego is probably not going to move forward with it, because of Hasbro owning the D&D license and the aforementioned flop of Heroica probably burning TLG and keeping them out of the tabletop roleplaying market.

A lot of people fail to understand how Lego Ideas works and think that if a project gets 10,000 votes it automatically gets put into production. TLG has to decide whether or not it's profitable before they greenlight it, no matter how many votes it gets.

Sure you can: Get a Lego Knight Torso (Which has armor painted on) and equip a lego backpack (multiple variations exist, most common originated from the Pirates line and was equipped on the navy's crewmen)

Make sure you're on BrickLink if you're buying LEGO.

Buying from The LEGO Group without being an employee is practically theft--a very good way to bond with my young cousin, but still theft.

Even with online marketplaces like BrickLink, getting an exact torso, brick, tile, or whatever will still be difficult depending on scarcity.

Sculpting putties (green stuff, etc.)
Generally you bend paper clips into the general shape, then build over that

Go slowly and go in layers
You can always add more material
Taking it off is a hassle, when not outright impossible

If you have spare bits that work, you can add a few before the first or second layer
