Read the glorious victory section of the 2 pagerules, if your opponent has no models on the table you immediately claim a major victory.

The generals handbook does not override this, the victory conditions of a battle plan only come into effect when there's still two armies on the field.

So if you table your opponent on Turn 2... but he managed to grab like... 11 vps somehow, and you have 3 vps as you were busy exterminating his shit...

Do you then take your turn 3.
Then 4.
Then 5.

While your opponent stares at you with his hands in his pockets?
>>
>>51792809
Exactly. Or you just quickly measure how far away your units are from the objectives and see if your opponent wants to concede
>>
>>51792809
Unless you are literally retarded the whole thing will last a few minutes at best. You just have to move on the objectives, you don't even have to physically move the whole unit.

Ok my last nurgle hero for my army. This is a chaos lord on daemonic mount with mark of nurgle.

The posing is a bit weird because it looks like he's about to fall backwards, but the picture is making it look worse i think. IRL it looks like he's leaning back to strike with his hammer.
>>
>>51793009

No in fact they say you can use the specific stormhost rules as any custom stormhost.

A lot of hero customization was added with the extra new equipment, general abilities, mount abilities and prayers.

Add that on top of the character upgrades from the campaign rules and stormcast are one of the most "your dudes" armies you can get
>>
>>51793192

>>
>>51793485
Many LGS make the mistake of selling only what they like rather than what the customer wants
>>
>>51793485
It's funny, because most of them will call themselves "Diehard fantasy fans", when Fantasy barely sold anything since most people already had their armies, which is pretty detrimental to a store owner.
>>
>>51793009
No. The meta-battalions are not restricted to certain stormhosts and between a assload of relics and traits, a huge selection of units and a variety of possible playstyles Stormcast are probably the most versatile subfaction to make a 'your dudes' force, with only Tzeentch coming close right now.
Now, the big question is if that will hold true for the next books. Battletome Duardin containing Dispossessed, Fyreslayers and the rumored Steamhead, with distinct traits, relics, prayers and such for each faction? That'd be amazing.

I do the same. I also give about one-in-five of my Stormcast a female head.

I don't really know why GW/BL are so hesitant to actually give a named female Stormcast character, since they're explicitly stated to exist. Not even as a playable one, just one of those character blurbs that pop up in the battletomes, or a character in one of the novels.

Can someone sell me on the "Ride the Winds Aetheric" special ability?

I'm drawing a blank of how this could be useful? I mean you can't even charge after using it and you might roll really low so the default 12inch move is better anyway. I get you can run through units as if you had flying but still not being able to charge is just too much of a downside.
>>
>>51794110
I suspect it's because even GW isn't sure what to make of them yet.
Like, do they want them to be regular stormcast in terms of design (which saves effort)? Or do they want them to be a seperate unit (which would be a new kit that can be sold, but would need to be created from scratch).

>>51794196
I think that may be it, though. I hope they don't designate special roles for Femcast, though. Stormcast don't strike me as much caring about sex. If you pass the trials and/or were sufficiently heroic prior to death, you're good to go. Plus, they're all magically-enhanced, so the -4 STR argument that some may bring up is moot.

>>51794327
Personally, I like that Stormcast seem even more human than Space Marines (until they get reforged too many times, anyway). One of the short stories I read had the Stormcast characters absolutely furious about orcs hunting down humans like animals, practically personally offended by the idea of their people being under such a state of fear.

I know there are Space Marine chapters that care about common humans, but the way it's written with Stormcast seems much more genuine.

Just made a realization about the AoS setting, that's pretty depressing. Sigmar goes on and on about how important it is to reclaim the people of the mortal realms, but then they're treated like shit when they do get reintegrated into the cities of Order.

So seems since every other god got stuff more recently than Slaanesh that it should be Slannesh up next but there is nothing to base that on except wishful thinking.

>>
>>51793569

Before the End Times there were a lot of people who would buy third party for various armies, Empire, Bretonnia, and Vampire Counts come to mind specifically. Part of the reason that Mantic is even a thing is because they were able to scrape by either selling their stuff as an alternative or as unit fillers.

Both 40k and Fantasy also have people who for what ever reason amass collections for one army into obscenely high points levels.

>>51794327

I kind of like that the Stormcast are just Order versions of Chaos Warriors. Also if they were as you described the whole thing with them running the risk of losing bits of their humanity with every reforging wouldn't be possible.

If I recall correctly the new lore does hint at Stormcast who've set up keeps, so I wouldn't be surprised if some come around who are all about defense. Them having siege engines and such doesn't seem too out there either.

Pretty much. With GW at the time completely abandoning the competitive scene, people felt free to use a lot of 3rd party minis and bits, which in a way took sales from GW.

This all combined with a dwindling fanbase. End Times revitalized some enthusiasm with whfb, but whether that alone would have been enough to save the game is really unknown at this point. All things considered now, AoS is reporting better fantasy sales than whfb had in years and I seriously doubt GW has any regrets with the whole decision.

So it definitely can be argued that whfb was dwindling because of GW, but it can't be argued that it wasn't dwindling and not making the company enough money.

They should have just had the hit and wound rolls be a single roll. They only change when buffed/debuffed.

its not even a close comparison.

gore gruntas cant match the movement trickery, lower damage output, have no ranged threat, less effective synergies, worse points cost.

Palladors are hands down winners.

all dissembling and false equivalencies on the subject are shams betraying lack of knowledge or betray worse motives.
>>

Yeah when I removed the big horns from the front and decided to do big creepy tentacles, i knew I had boost up the model's weird factor. Which I like.

>>
>>51797423
Eh

Dracothians are stupid overpowered, palladors have some decent ranged and decent melee but are mostly about speed while costing nearly the same.

Non rerollable 4+ doesn't go nearly as far as you would imagine.

>>51797534

That's more about gore gruntas being unjustly shit than anything.

Extremis has had the "overpowered golden cavalry" market clinched for a while

I kinda hoped that GW could resist shooting its power creep load for at least a decade or so. maybe edge out a few little drops every couple years but this... this is a blast of power creep to the face so blatant it would make a porn star ashamed.

So if I had to choose one of the two new heavy crossbow options for Stormcasts, which do you think are better? Snipers? Or bullet hose?

both are excellent and blow away all the options every other army can bring to the table. Why not take two of both?

Throw in some space marines riding mini dragons for frontal assault and some space marines riding mini griffon-horses for outflanking and you will no doubt destroy every other option anyone can hope to field.

Holy shit THIS right here is what the Stormcasts needed.

>great armor

unmodified 4+ isn't great

>insane movement trickery

Check

>excellent damage output

They're pretty mediocre at ranged even with javelins, the gryph charger has some nice rend but the rider barely helps. They only threaten things that are vulnerable to light cavalry, which is how it should be.

>great synergy with heroes and abilities

Aquilors command ability is a bit overkill on them but could be great for nabbing objectives.

>high wounds per model

If they're going to be 73 points each they had better.

>points cost aggressive

They're okay for the cost but I'm not sure I would take more than 1 minimum unit, maybe 2.

>I rate these as stupid overpowered, borderline broken.

I wouldn't come to that conclusion at all.

Stormcast really hurt for low model count as that makes scoring on GHB missions really fucking hard.

Skewing towards the big cavalry (or god forbid the drakes) really fucks over your own ability to win games unless you really know how to control the board.

Spookify the Bastillidon up. Basically, a giant undead monster bound to the will of the Vampire and Necromancer riding atop. I might even throw on a extra skink, but painted all ghosty.

My only problem is that it technically conflicts with the idea that all of the Lizard men being star spirits, meaning there's nothing really there I can raise.

well the mortis engine is basically a big nexus of necromantic energy right, so if anything could corrupt a star spirit it would be that. I could see a powerful necromancer binding the astral form of a wounded bastillidon to his diabolical will and it taking on a more fitting form for its new master.

moderately better jezzails for a 40 point price bump.

Lets compare it to some other artillery

For 180 points you get 3 longstrike crossbows.

Against a 4+ target you'll get 2.5 hits (50% of getting at least one head shot for 2 mortal wounds), 1.667 wounds, and 2.77 unsaved wounds.

Empire cannon, 180 points.

2 shots, 1 hits, .833 wounds, 2.08 unsaved wounds although this can spike with your D6 rolls.

Skaven Jezzails 140 points

3 shots, 1.5 hits (50% chance for at least) 2 mortal wounds, 1 wound, .833 failed armor saves, 1.667 wounds.

Reaper Bolt thrower

12 shots, 6 hits, 5 wounds (one hit becomes 2 damage on average with 6 hits), 3.33 failed saves, 3.33 wounds.

Nearly the same with the high elf bolt thrower

Field Trebuchet

2 shots, auto hits against units of 6 or more, 1.33 wounds, 1.11 failed saves, 3.33 unsaved wounds on average.

So the longstrike is quite good but doesn't knock any of the old artillery kings off the hill.
>>
>>51798360
Ah. Thanks for the Mathhammer. Interesting indeed.
>>
>>51798449

Yeah they're great in a vacuum but for them to be viable in stormcast, they had to be. Stormcast lack good ranged buffs in faction (mother fuckin knight azyros) and while raptors have some pretty neato battalions that help them, they're mostly going to be playing on their own unlike jezzails.

Funnily enough the usual asshole combo of Hurricanum + anything does nothing for longstrikes as they already hit on a 2+.

If 30, go for it. They're good for adding some models to the table, and the fact that they have the same statwheel as Liberators and Chaos Warriors is nice, although not the best. They won't kill shit, but they're not supposed to. You have Brutes for that. They're for holding objectives, and that's about it.

this is probably the list i will go to a tourny with.

its 1500 points and 3+battleline. 3 random scenarios from the GH.

frostlord on stonehorn 460
butcher 140
9 bulls 360
3 bulls 120
3 bulls 120
40 gnoblars 200
20 gnoblars 100

i could also redistribute the bulls and gnoblar units if there is a better configuration.

i could dump a butcher 6 bulls and 20 gnoblars for 6 ironguts, but i figured that would leave me to low of models on some scenario's.

any tips ?
>>
>>51800239
my 1000 point list has 73 models. I love the theme of the army but the model count is a big ask and it wouldn't actually hold up well against any decent list.

>>51800254
I think a big part of why I am painting random stuff is because I don't actually get to play at all at the moment - no AoS, no 40k, no anything. Models are just models at that point and a single squad for some 40k faction I don't play or some reaper bones seem much more manageable as a project than 60 marauders.

Maybe if I break the marauders down into batches of 5 or 10 instead of trying to do them all at once

Ogors or Leadbelchers for Ogors battleline?

Also, what's optimal unit size for them? 3, 6 or 9?

I prefer a mix, about two units of bulls for each unit of leadbelchers. The increased cost of leadbelchers as well as the lack of support stuff and the lower attack count make up for the bonus Rend and the added missile weapons.
Both three and six ogres are fine. More tend to be impractical without 2" weapons.

People are complaining about how SCE are superior right now with their new releases and battletome. Are they generally buffed or maybe just in some game formats like high point games or free games?

So I've been reading/watching some AoS battle reports and I'd like to get started. I'm thinking either Tzeentch Arcanites or Sylvaneth - both look like they'd be fun to paint.

Obviously Sylvaneth operate on the basis of their Wild Woods - about how many would I need to bring in an average 2000 point games? I ask because that's a deciding factor for me - that kit is a PITA to put together.

I actually had an idea for a conversion for something similar. I got a hold of an Alarielle on sale just because I wanted the beetle. The idea was to use Tzaangor bits and some feathered wings, if I could find them, to turn Alarielle into a Tzeentch Daemon Prince(ss), or big Tzaangor Shaman or something. Alarielle could be a good starting point for the body if you can find her bits cheap.

Ok guys need some major help here

Im interested in getting warhammer quest to play with my friends, however none of them are into warhammer besides me.

Do you think warhammer quest will be worth the 180$ Cad? or should i stick to another board game like zombicide or something

hum, i remenber some lore about how the slann make dinos a thing again in azyr, so the vampire may have just hijack that
OR you could fluff it has the slann trying to recreate good old lustria, with dinopond and all
it would fit precedent fluff well
OR you could fluff it has some human aztec barabrians that escaped the age of chaos and worship lizardmen, and ride dinos to battle, until they fell to aztec vampire

they are interested in playing board games with me and im planning on picking up a few after my vacation but they arnt into the modelling aspect just the gaming aspect.

Thats why im wondering if 180 bux is worth it, i mean the models are great and all but Im not familiar with the mechanics of warhammer quest so im not sure if its going to be worth it in the long run.

It depends on how you want to play. You could go all out and get twelve, but most people have two or three at that level.
>>

The game is good. I mean, even the WHFBfags at my LGS said it's the best what AoS gave us. If you are playing AoS and will use minis from Quest in your army then you should pick it IMO

You got blightkings, so you should have extra front belly/chest bits. Ork nobs are about the right size for blightkings, so you can stick those bellies on an ork nob body and legs and that would be a good basis for nurgle characters or more blightkings. You would need to do some greenstuff to blend them together. Which beast of nurgle model do you have? Depending on which one it is, it may be mounted by a model for a counts-as chaos lord on daemonic mount or even a harbinger of decay
>>
>>51804094

You have to take Destruction. If you take ironjawz all you are allowed to field are Ard boyz, Brutes, Gore Gruntas, Weirdnobs, Warchantas, Megabosses (foot or mawkrusha) and Gordrakk.

If you wish to include others, you must take general destruction

Love the model too! Excelent job.
>>
>>51805333
That's something. I made a unit of chaos warriors with Mark of Nurgle out of starter set blood warriors. I just cut away all the khorne icons, replaced weapons and shields with blightking bits, and used a Dremel tool to cut up the armor to make it look rusting and rotting away. My next project is using starter set blood reavers to make into Marauders with Mark of Nurgle. The blightkings kit is so awesome with the plethora of extra usable bits it supplies

You should ask in new thread. Someone should have a screen with a list build around GUO and tallyband. Nurgle daemons are idiot-proof - you can literally buy 2 SC! boxes, merge them together and run 1000pts vanguard army
>>
>>51807045
Really? How good are plaguebearers?
>>
>>51807112
I can't really tell you - I'm not running them. You can look at their rules by yourself - they are costly but they are definitely good, both units and heroes.
>>
>>51807195
To be honest, I think I'd just run Slaves to Darkness and give them a mark. At the moment It's either Nurgle or Tzeentch
>>
>>51807217
How big army you want to run? If you want to make cheap and easy 1k list just buy 2 boxes of chaos knights and daemon prince
>>
>>51807259
Are Chaos Knights good? And I wanna be able to run 1500-2000
>>
>>51807349
Chaos Knights are pretty decent. What makes them awesome is that they are Battleline in a Slaves to Darkness army. Since there are almost no pure cav armies in AoS, having Chaos Knights and Marauder Horsemen as Battleline is really amazing. You can also add Mounted Chaos Lords and Sorcerer Lords on Chaos Steeds to add the necessary support and Gorebeast Chariots to add the necessary oomph. And with these units, 1500 is pretty easy to facilitate.
