So last night I asked about making terminators decent and heard lots of interesting replies. To sum up some possibilities listed in the thred:

-Increase to t5
-Termie armour gives 1 extra wound
-Rerollable armour save
-up to BS/WS 5
-buff storm bolters (perhaps to assault 3)

What is the ideal solution? I know some HH terminators have 2 wounds, and Deathwing Knights have functionally T5 and WS 5, but it doesn't really make them usable...

I just prefer the idea of footslogging. Marines in rhinos just seems really dull to me. Just roll across the board, hoping nothing shoots the box out.

But then, without them, it makes the issue of walking in this game being so fucking slow. And deepstriking is hideously unreliable.

The old blood angels when they could take assault marines as troops would be perfect but here we are.

So I recently picked up Adeptus Mechanicus by Rob Sanders, and it inspired me for some nice new Dark Mechanicum conversion. I had the idea of making a few Forge World guard-servitors or some sort of slave-automatons that would tend the forges. I'll be using Lord of Plagues and Gutrot Spume from the Nurgle Rotbringers line, going to repair their open sores with GS and replace the scythes with quad-thunder hammers. What say ye?

In-universe, the Ynnari have only existed for a matter of months. Eldar who believe in Ynnead's existence, or the possibility of his existence, have been around, but just as lone prophets or philosophers. It hasn't really had a chance to form into a more coherent culture yet. However, we can assume a few things.

The Ynnari represent a midway point between the Craftworlders and Commorites, so both groups will drift away from their extremes. The Path system might disappear or become less important, while the Dark Eldar won't have their physiological need to maim and torture because they're no longer affected by the Thirst.

Perhaps more importantly, it's probably going to lead to a very outward-looking, dynamic mindset. Previously, the various Eldar sects were only concerned with their own survival. Everything was a means to that end. Now, they've been given a chance to escape their eventual doom. They can think about the day where that occurs, or where they might want to go once Slaanesh is defeated. Of course that in turn leads to sub-groups and competing philosophies, both between Craftworlders and Commorites, or between more militant or more diplomatic groups arguing over whether they want to try killing off the 'lesser races' and recreating their empire or working with them in the long term.

Honestly, I think that Termies are well coated. You're getting Power Fists, Storm Bolters, 2+ armour, 5+ Invulnerable... The problem, really, is that they lack a decent method of getting into range to do anything. It's a problem a lot of assaulty marines have - no assault vehicles apart from expensive Land Raiders or Flyers.

That said, you probably shouldn't go for Death Guard and switch everything just for the sake of footslogging.

On the Loyalist side, I think Space Wolves might be a good option. They have ways of getting outflank and moving faster, so getting them across the table is easier even without transports

The sergeant counts toward squad count, so nine marines and him in a squad. Most squads cannot break up, but Space Marines have the Combat Squads rule, meaning if numbering ten models they may break into two five man teams.

That's the nice thing about Night Lords at least. Stealth and Raptor troops let's stick Havoks in cover while the raptors jump ahead. Hell, even stealth Termies can be nice to get the better cover save. Bikes have a lot of potential, too, but I don't actually have any.

Raven Guard have T1 Shrouded infantry, which can make them much tougher and help footslog.

Raptors have T1 Stealth, Scout, and their character gives 3 units Infiltrate.

Any SM army can be built around Drop Pods and will footslog after they get out.

Guard Blobs footslog and are super tough, but not that easy to paint.

Lastly, Alpha Legion can Infiltrate with a lot of dudes and be fine without transports, although they're not exactly Imperial.

The biggest thing that makes me upset is the Relentless. Warbosses can only take Assault weapons, and Mega Armor and Warbikes give them relentless anyway...

I use The War Store droppers. They are pricier than other droppers but you get what you pay for. The tips are harder to remove than the actual Vallejo ones, and snap shut solidly. They also come with really cool clear caps.

Boyz should be run with no upgrades other than a nob and shootas for the boyz.
Some people say give him a bosspole, trukk and klaw but in my opinion it's better to only buy a big choppa and shoota so you can just it as a throw away meat shield squad. They cost too much otherwise.

Use the nobz as squad leaders for the boyz and various other squads you may get.

Painboy is a good HQ but you want a warboss.

Overall it's a good box but I wouldn't buy more than one. Get a warboss and more grotz/boyz to round it out, best to convert one from some bikers + a nob from your nob squad or a mega nob.

This isn't a problem with terminators as much as it's a problem with the state of the game. Increasing the price of things like Plasma and Grav(a whole different animal) would be a potential solution. Melta might be a concern then, but the limited range could potentially make up for that.

This can potentially be fixed within the terminators themselves. Higher T, more wounds, FnP ect. However, if every single army has enough dudes to drown terminators in small arms fire, then there's a potential problem with the game, too, but I don't think we're quite there yet.

Gotta admit, GK termie helmets are fucking awesome looking. I think the thing that makes regular terminators look silly is the pauldrons. CSM and GK termies have trim and protrusions on their pauldrons and makes them look more like upscaled marines as they should be. Dreads are bad outside of focusing exclusively on them. They explode into fireworks vs most armies. They're pretty underwhelming on the off chance they manage to close the distance too; WS4 means half their attacks will miss, they don't get 'Ere We Go or WAAAGH for unknown reasons, and they max out at 7 attacks on the charge. Pretty underwhelming. They can sort of work if you spam them, but that's just because you're counting on the enemy not bringing enough AT to deal with them all.

Good news is you want to GO FAST, and that's really the only way Orks work right now. You want Biker Boyz, Meganobz in Trukks and Mek Gunz. Buggies are also pretty good.

I thought so too, but on the box it's the normal one, and I checked inside the box just in case - he's got all his weapon options except maybe a second power fist. I didn't give it a full check but he's at least got the tentacles, auto gun, plasma cannons, hammer and fists.

I already run a juggernaut lord but I guess more options are never bad.

I consider Duncan's techniques mid-level. He makes new painter friendly tutorials to introduce these higher level techniques to people who are at a low level.

But once you are at a higher level, you already know all of Duncan's techniques or have superior ones available.

For example, look at his primed Wraithknight. You can clearly see where he has sanded and scraped away at the leg until the entire back surface has flattened. You can keep the leg intact and round by simply filling the seam lines with putty or epoxy instead.

You also shouldn't prime your model with 100% coverage unless you're using an airbrush. If you use a rattle can, a speckled primer finish with a little bit of the material underneath showing is more ideal, as this yields more tooth and preserves more detail.

Now, the core formation needs to be taken from the Tau codex, but the Tau codex states that 3-6 units need to be Breacher Team, Strike Team, or Kroot Carnivores. It doesn't say they need to be infantry, but it seems to suggest it as I believe those are the only Tau units classified as such. The rub there is I need to know if it's only those units or if they're just talking about infantry because the Farsight Enclave allows for Crisis suits to take up Troop slots instead of Elite slots

Have to be careful with a lot of this stuff.

For starters, remember that Chaos has terminators too.

+1 WS and +1 BS are alright, but +1 T will get excessive when you consider the Sehkmet rules or Nurgle Terminators.

On the flip side, improving Storm Bolters doesn't do anything to help Chaos Terminators which also have major problems.

I honestly feel like a points decrease and making Terminator Armor give +1 wound does the trick. A FNP result equal to their invulnerable save would also be something worth considering.

The problem with assault terminators has very little to do with terminators and more to do with assault delivery vehicles. So perhaps have a major rules rewrite and make a lot of units able to have transports like they do today, but change the dedicated transport rule to have a point reduction for those vehicles.

Ranged Terminators have the problem of not enough fire power. A general points decrease for Terminators overall and allowing 2 out of every 5 upgrade to an assault cannon may do the trick.

I have a friend of mine who plays Tau. He always brings Riptides, stealth suits, crisis suits, and a command squad of suits with drones, and I can rarely ever win against him. I've talked to him about the amount of cheese he brings to the table, but he gets defensive and says that my army is more competitive than his.

At this point, I want to smash his army into the ground with mine. How would I go about doing that?

Tau player here. I've never even glanced at the BA codex, nor do I even know anyone who plays it.
Tips for beating Tau:
>Without Markerlights, you're up against a "shooty" army at BS fucking 3, so focus those first. He probably has a Drone-Net formation if he's WAAC at over 1k points, so this shouldn't be too hard.
>Riptides are pretty much the only Tau unit with survivability. Everything else will simply die when you look at it.

Oh, and to add on to this:
Tau's only source of D-Strength weapons are Stormsurges (which you didn't mention and require a Markerlight to be D), Tiger Sharks (which no one uses), and the Manta (which costs 2000 points and $1000). And almost all their weapons cap at S8 (although the Riptide can Novacharge an Ion to S9). This makes it relatively hard for Tau to deal with other Monstrous Creatures or LoWs, even with Riptides. It's still obviously doable, but other factions like Eldar win out that battle. Not sure how BA plays with that.
