I'm the OP not him. I think that's because /tg/ is going on a decline so I'm trying to bring up some of the fun old school stuff.

Truth is that HFY is just a boring power fantasy and borderline magical realm crap. Basically it's kinda like inversion of Lovecraftian horror with humans replacing eldritch things and that's just stupid. Not saying that it can't be done well, but usually quality (as can be seen from these pastas) is about same as shitty nationalist wank stories like GATE.

The HFY stories I tend to like are usually in the vein of Attack on Titan or Hunter: the Vigil. I like having a near overwhelming force that humanity struggles bitterly against. It makes the victory all the sweeter. I'll never understand why people like Lovecraft fiction in their tabletop games. You've already lost before you started playing.

Alan Dean Foster wrote a nice HFY short story.
