>How do you make cute young urchins in ragged clothes interesting PCs? Do they HAVE to be sneaky thieves and/or natural magicians? Is it too much to make them secretly royalty?
Last time I was GMing my players followed the story of a child through several hundred year old documents. My players were part of a mercenary force heading through an overgrown sapient jungle. Along the way old ruins dotted the landscape, and the players would stop to explore them. The first set had the following:
>journal of a kid who wanted to go to the big city
>bunch of normal reports in an office
>two letters from a church they couldn't translate
When they got them translated they learned the kid had been selected to go get trained in a bigger city up the road, the one they were heading to. When they got there they went through the old church there as well and found more information on him. They knew his name now, so they followed him. The next set of documents was about his education as a wandering exorcist along with cracking open his old room in the basement. Learned the kid had gone funny and started to hear voices, but was hiding it. They learned this through a box sealed with Arcane Lock that had been left there.

As the game continued they found out more information about the kid and who he was becoming. The players had been sent to recover an artifact from the ruins of the capital in the jungle, but were told to scrounge up anything they could find. Found out the kid had turned into something like a prophet. Eventually they found out the artifact they were going to retrieve was supposed to be his corpse and then found out the kid was in fact not dead and was living in the capital along. The sapient evil jungle was his doing and he lived as a lonely king there wracked with painful madness brought on by the voices.

Posting this here just for coverage: /r/Pathmaker, a subreddit for Pathfinder Homebrew. I'm the subreddit owner there and can answer any questions.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Pathmaker/

Anyways, on another topic: what would you all like to see out of a Harrow Medium, if it exists? I'm working on a "recreation" of it so to speak. Instead of the rather cluster-fucky rules it used to have, I'm hybridizing it with the actual release medium.

>Six legendary spirits act as the main set of class features (Seven legendary spirits, if I decide to include the Overmind Psionic Spirit)
>These also act as "anchor points" from which you can add "Harrow aspects" alongside the legendary spirits
>Each legendary spirit has eight harrow spirits.
>Harrow spirits are not associated with an alignment or an ability score, but they are associated with one of the legendary spirits.
>A medium knows about all the legendary spirits, but only knows a limited number of harrow aspects.
>As a medium grows in power, they can channel more harrow aspects, eventually being able to channel four, if they know of that many harrow aspects belonging to one spirit.
>A medum channeling more than one harrow spirit sets each one as either his primary, secondary, tertiary, or quarternary, as appropriate, with decreasing benefits as you go down the line
>A medium can spend one minute in meditation in order to change the order of his harrow aspects, changing which harrow spirit powers he has access to.
>A medium can also spend fifteen minutes in meditation in order to change which legendary spirit he has channeled.

I currently am debating whether I want a small penalty to happen if you change your legendary spirit during the day, to encourage planning ahead and picking the right harrow spirits for the job, though I might scrap this if it proves unpopular. Any thoughts on it, /pfg/-goers?

Lorewipe-anon here. My character got instakilled when a Minotaur crit on him. Then the minotaur got a bounty put on him and like 5 characters curbstomped him, then proceeded to fight over my dead character's loot.

You mean a living world.

This is a PbP living world.
>>
>>51767237
Nah, they just approve characters before they go into play.
>>51767239
Living worlds are a misnomer, they don't actually change much, and they're usually based around one location.
>>
>>51767239
See all I know of living worlds is most of the time they are ruled by nepotism and favoritism.

The only time I saw it work was a long time ago on /tg/ where re played more by council and a group of 20 or so were trying to run a village. The guy who ran it was a cruel and uncaring god, he treated everyone equally shitty.
>>
>>51767224
It's basically living campaign shit except there's only murderhobo'ing.
>>
>>51767258
False. I bet you don't even play on it.

>>51767255
The problem with living worlds is that seniority is everything.

Why would you bother joining a living world as a level 1 schmuck when there are level 10 PCs running around being the actual world-saving heroes?

Those level 10 PCs are level 10 because their players had no lives and spent every one of their real-time days making a post like "I use downtime for XP," as if this was a phone game with daily login bonuses.
>>
>>51767287
>There are sessions, but they're very small sessions that are run a few times a day at the most frequent.
Explain the structure. What does it use, roll20? skype? etc.?

All I can see is a game ruled by favoritism, even if it isn't in world it will come up with who gets sessions from an individual GM.

Also as >>51767292 said. Why would I join at level 1 when people so many levels above me are around and what I do can be swept away in a moment by them.
>>
>>51767287
There are a dozen piece of shits living campaigns in roll20. I've seen how toxic that shit is, from corrupt GMs that grant favor to their cliques and bias against others to cheating PCs that magically change their stats and conveniently forget rulings.

Your mmo is going to be shit for the very same reasons why PFS is considered a laughing stock. Because GMs will never be consistent and the members of your party are never consistent.
>>
>>51767247
>Living worlds are a misnomer, they don't actually change much, and they're usually based around one location.
Ain't that the truth. Preach it brother!

PbP "Living worlds" a shit: players in those games can't change -anything-
>>
>>51767292
>Level 10 PCs have no lives
That and they insist on joining level 1 PCs on their quests and throw a tantrum when the GM refuses.

I have literally been to some living campaigns where people reached level 12 by piggybacking on level 1 PCs and stomping on the mobs by themselves.
>>
>>51767292
A very valid complaint, I won't lie. Though I am giving you the opportunity to get in early, seeing as everyone is currently at starting level given how new it is. If it gets to be a problem, I'll see about a system of balances.
>>51767300
Adventuring sessions are played on Roll20 with discord voice. It's kinda hard to explain without actually linking how Daily actions work, so here: http://lorewipe.boards.net/thread/8/daily-actions

>>51767311
Except they are more like "static cities" than "living worlds". Nothing actually changes, nothing actually matters, like >>51767315
said.
>>
A problem with playtests is that the really good or interesting stuff gets a lot of feedback, and the offensively or glaringly bad stuff gets feedback, but people just don't bother with the mediocre stuff because it's not good enough to invest in but not bad enough to hate.

Mediocre stuff never gets enough feedback to make it not mediocre and then it goes to print like that.

What playtests should do is keep a record of what things they get feedback on, and then at the end of their run take an extra hard look at what never got brought up.
>>
>>51767287
Oh boy! I can't wait to play with the metagaming GM that makes everything in his encounter immune to my abilities!

>>
>>51767432

There are already 2 Exploiter wizards, and you're worried about balance?

Run your game how you want, because yeah 3pp can be a lot of things to sort through for character approval.

But on your own time, you should look into how 3pp content can help players get around some pitfuls of Paizo. Not for the lorewipe thing, but for you to better understand the game. If you want. Up to you.
>>
I refuse to take Companion to the Lonely. You can't make me.

>>51767454
A fair point. When I said "balance" I more meant "It's hard enough managing first party rules-lawyers, now you want to add third-party to that mess?!"

But I will look into it for non-Lorewipe games, for sure.
>>
>>51767476
To tell the truth, with three wizards you are basically going to have no martials because they will never do anything.

I know that I would never join a game with that many wizards in play, no matter how big the playerbase was. It just destroys the point of the game... But that said, I can't stop you.
>>
>>51767512
You really overestimate what the average schmuck can do with a wizard.
>>
Are Half Orcs cowardly? I know they have the rage and emotion to get fucking pissed and fight like badgers. They're emotional though right? I'd think they might be prone to fight or flight.

>>
>>51767512

Also an Arcanist as soon as I can figure out what kind if Arcanist is better than an Exploiter wizard.
>>
>>51767531
No arcanist is better than a wizard. The spell progression is just too important and the preparation mechanic is just too inferior.

Have you ever played a vampire, or had a player who's character was one?
How did it go?
>>
>>51767576
It's so good it ought to be a Vigilante Talent. It's completely out of place amidst the Social Talent rubbish. It's so good, it's basically the talent that absolutely everybody should take. And that's why I can't take it.
>>
>>51767112
That's bretty cool
>>
>>51767590
full vampire or do dhampir and variants count
>>
>>51767590
Undead immunities alone cause serious gameplay imbalance. Nevermind the heap of useful feats and ability score adjustments the template gives.
>>
>>51767592
I wonder if Paizo really thought the condition on it would be hard to fulfill.

On a class that's designed for city adventures, and "keyed" to charisma, in a game that regularly acknowledges its pervert community.
>>
>>51767603
Not to mention their complete disregard for the amount of gold an adventurer makes compared to how much the the simple amenity of a prostitute costs. Even more so if you trick her out before doing the deed.

>Put on the headband of Charisma, slut.
>>
>>51767592
More like, more social talents though be that good.
Seriously, why are 80% of social talents so awful, considering it's the common space that almost all 1pp vigilante archetypes share.

Even most of the Jolly archetypes don't touch the social talents, I think he really should have added more new ones.
>>
>>51767600
Full vampire, but nothing's stopping you from writing about dhampir and variants m8.
's a free board, at least partly.
>>
>>51767628
Social talents are meant to be less powerful. A Vigilante gets a full suite of Vigilante Talents, AND THEN a full suite of social talents too.

And they're clearly aware of this fact seeing as they made an Extra Social Talent feat, but NOT an Extra Vigilante Talent feat.
>>
>>51767601
Part of the reason I'm asking.
>>
Huh, there's a Sacred Geometry app now. Neat.

Alright, so there's that and blood money. What else should I learn how to do in my quest to blatantly stroke my dick and ego at the same time?
>>
>>51767656
Social talents shouldn't be as good as vigilante ones, but they should still be better than trash.
>>
>>51767628
Jolly has a couple good ones. I like that one that gives you a skill specialty from Legendary Rogues, and that one that lets you do whatever the fuck you want for each alignment.
>>
>>51767676
Better than trash yeah, but Companion to the Lonely is still way better than it should be.

Better than some but less good than that.

>>51767682
I still need to look into Legendary Rogues/Assassins to see what the fuck those talents can actually do.

>>51767657
The thing you have to remember is that immunities generally also carry penalties and vulnerabilities. Vampires are undead, and therefore vulnerable to shenanigans that specifically target undead. There's also the whole light weakness thing.

That's the big trick. If you can keep in mind the state of being the character has, the GM can produce compelling narratives that can involve a character getting a chance to shine because they're immune to something the party isn't, or give a chance for the rest of the party to shine by taking them out of commission briefly.

It's something I encountered when I played a Ghoran; they're immune to poison, stuns, and mind-affecting stuff, so when the GM gave us a situation where one of the team had to shut down something that was putting radiation into the area, my character was the only one that could get close to the artifact to shut it down while the rest of the party was working on keeping the area free of hostiles.
>>
>>51767694
They're supposed to optional replacements for Trapfinding so they're fairly similar. They give a 1/2 level bonus to a give skill under particular circumstances.

Of course, everybody just picks the one that gives 1/2 level to initiative.

Very late, but I wanted to clarify that the fluff lines on the aether pulse descriptions are not open to refluffing BECAUSE they're not even meant to have concrete fluff at all. Your Aether Pulse looks however you WANT it to look - our intention when writing them was to give people ideas on what they COULD look like, not what they MUST look like. Your Nation Avowed's pulse can look like a whisper-silent arrow in the night. Or, perhaps, if you want to find a happy middle ground - maybe it takes the form of the national bird of your country, formed of pure shadow and streaking after the opponent.

attempts to be super mysterious not disclose any backstory which wouldn't have been bad if he didn't only respond with amateur philosophy and broodingness when spoken to
takes a bad hit in the first dungeon hasn't IC told us the whole "healing magic hurts me" deal
says something about the fragility of mortality refuses healing
the resident big fucker at the end of the dungeon hits him
negatives
the group's cleric who was pretty chill to most of us is just about done with him when he goes into a little to much detail on his "agonizing" collapse
kill big guy
cleric goes to heal the blunted edge
he ooc protests but cleric insists we have no in game reason not to heal him
death by healing
tell him to get a a character concept not written by a 12 year old and that random deep sounding quotes isnt dialog

Like this kind of makes sense... Like during the first 100 years elves are like the autists in /g/ desktop threads that rice their arch linux install and have anime wallpapers with little to no drive or real world skills. But even they still fuck around with programming and develop odd skills.

100 years is a long fucking time for the abilities that a level 1 character has to make sense. Every time I try and make an elf I just don't know how to answer what the fuck I did during that time.
>>
>>51768084
Elves are turboslow learners.

Also, the fact that they have so much fucking time to do literally ANYTHING means they spend a lot of it doing absofuckinglutely NOTHING.

Meanwhile on the other end of the spectrum? Kobolds? Goblins? fucking ORCS? These bastards hit middle-aged at TWENTY YEARS OLD. They can learn to be a level 1 wizard at 16 years old. Elves, the supposedly magical race? 120 fucking years.

You can have an entire fucking family line of kobold wizards before that elven fuckboy puts down his drow bodypillow and decides to learn how the fuck cantrips work.

And do you know why?

MOTIVATION.

Actually, my understanding is that it's less "Takes 120 years to become an adult" and more "takes 120 years to be considered an adult" and they more or less age at the same rate humans do until they hit their prime.

A cocky elf that's about 40 could go off adventuring; they'd basically just be a teenager. Most Elves wouldn't consider the learning of the elf in question done until THEY thing the character is old enough.
>>
Where can you find lvl 17+ Clerics in the wild/not of the party?
>>
>>51768197
only place to find people like that is in one of two places

>Retired super-adventurer. These are the sort of people that are world-renowned, and while they may have an obvious location, getting to them (either because they're hermits or because of politics) is a hell of a trip. This option works for basically any class.

>The capital of a theocratic nation. Could even roll with faithful divine casters of this nation's patron god being more powerful inside the walls of the city; the pope stand-in or high priest or whatever could even be a pretty mediocre cleric anywhere else, but be like level 20 inside the walls

>getting sheets for new campaign
>one character is a swashbuckler (picaroon) that carries like 8 handguns in his bandolier (early gun tech level), wasting lots of money for flavor, fine it's fun
>gunsmith (naturally) and a former pirate captain
>the revolver was inspired by capstan mechanisms
To me, this is basically begging for him to get access to or even "invent" the revolver some point well into the campaign. I'm not worried about it being crazy powerful, it's the same as having lots of ready pistols, it's just cooler. I'm just wondering how I'd work this suggestion in with him. Telling him his character can have X idea is not fun, it's playing the character for him, and I doubt he'll press it on his own because it's beyond the tech level I gave him. Having an NPC push him in that direction might work but I have no idea how that might play out without stealing the glory.

Thoughts?

Not when they literally prey on the living and emit negative energy hastening the entropy of the prime material.

Vampires in particular *get off* on slowly draining the life out of sapients in ways that can only be described as "rapeish".

Only Paizo's APs would ever consider calling one of those Good, and even then only if it's fighting against something Lawful like... a non-corrupt and helpful government organization.

Actually given they'd mechanically have the Young template from doing this, they're physically young as well.

Their brains may grow like turboautists compared to us, but they ARE growing at a pace that's normal for their bodies. That 40 year old elf would be like a human 6 year old.

Have him discover a few prototype weapons in a lab that just barely don't work, and the research was abandoned.

Some things like volcano pistols that jam too much, rotating pepperboxes with a single hammer that wears out too fast to be field viable, or a rifle with a limited spring-loading idea that just barely hasn't gotten to bolt-action.

Then... let him invent his own kind of weapon using the prototypes for ideas. Stat it as a revolver if that's close to what he creates, but make it his own invention.

Explore roleplaying that type of character. Its a lot different than anything I've played before and I actually just never lie irl either. Mostly because of this quote and life experiences that have made me believe its truth.

inb4 >ayn rand

"People think that a liar gains a victory over his victim. What I’ve learned is that a lie is an act of self-abdication, because one surrenders one’s reality to the person to whom one lies, making that person one’s master, condemning oneself from then on to faking the sort of reality that person’s view requires to be faked…The man who lies to the world, is the world’s slave from then on…There are no white lies, there is only the blackest of destruction, and a white lie is the blackest of all."

I'm not saying that Vampires' necrology doesn't tend towards them being burdens upon society at best, but to apply a blanket statement of 'evil' to all undead is patently unfair and discriminatory.

As for that 'entropy of the prime material' business... do you have even a single fact to back that up? Negative energy has been proven time and again to be just as legitimate an animating force as Positive energy.

It's very little issue if it's text.
That said I've seen what happens when it's done on discord, and one of the reasons I greatly dislike voiced games. Because the GM is only listening to one or two of those conversations; one of them is about metal gear, one of them is about gay rights, and only one of the other four people in the conversation is trying to actually do his turn.

Chances are, the GM'll just wave off whatever you just tried to do as not working, the MGS guy will call you a whiny shitter for asking anything regarding how or why that nat20 did nothing after "uh yeah it didn't work" was all you got, and it'll take another ten minutes for the initiative tracker to even switch to the next guy, who's not going to notice this hour.

If you don't keep the lie in the back of your mind and play to it with that person, you may as well have not lied? Otherwise, it's obvious you lied? You turn yourself into a puppet trying to dance to many tunes at once.

This obviously varies based on exactly what the lie was but it makes enough sense.
>>
>>51769286
...no, it doesn't, because most of the people you meet in your life are people you'll never meet again and even if you meet them again aren't relevant. If you lie to your friends, people you'll have to live with, people with close professional connections, etc. then it becomes a problem because of the so-called loss of credit. But if I lie to someone to get an edge over someone else, or if I lie to someone so he does me a favor I don't intend to repay, or so on, why do I dance to his tune? It's stupid as hell.

Anon's particular example has the weight of the law protecting it, however. Even DNA tests aren't always enough (particularly in the US) to clear you of child support if she went and lied and said the father's you.

And you won't get any of it back, "because it was for the good of the child", even though you were literally accused of something you didn't do, punished for it, and defrauded out of rather substantial amounts of money.

It doesn't matter that the child might not even get a damn penny of it (including as 'materials' like diapers, etc). I've dealt with more than one situation where the child might not even be with the mother anymore, she's off injecting all of it god knows where, but that often doesn't even matter to the court. They don't care.

Make her one of those orators who have to spend days reciting and mocking up the actual speech before she actually gives one. Just because she has low charisma doesn't mean she doesn't know how to write a good speech - her low normal CHA can be supplemented by her presumably high INT by aping the Caesars and Ciceros and Hitlers of history.
As far as philosophy make her be the type to write giant books on her subject instead of presenting it to the masses.
Just because she's shit at CHA doesn't mean she's bad at debate, which is INT more than anything else - a formal philosophy debate opens with a billion definitions and doesn't sound like normal speech at all.
In normal conversation either make her shy as fuck / a stutterer, or make her sound incredibly pretentious, not because she wants to but because she's bad at speaking to others and resorts to talking like she's giving a lecture.

>Child is with the grandparents, mother nowhere to be found
>Actual father wants custody of the child and would actually raise it, but has no claim because she wrote other guy, who turned out to be her affluent ex supervisor, was written as the father
>Said supervisor only found out he was on the hook for an entire year of delinquent payments and penalties around the same time he found out lady had been pregnant. That is to say, out of the fuck*** blue.
>Court dates delayed six times, 14 months total, because the mother never shows up and yet judge refuses to default against her, because children need their mother more than anything
>Mother turned out to be a Jane Doe 8 months in
>Grandparents adopted the child
>Actual father was given notice of adoption a month too late to respond, as the written date of delivery was from two months earlier.
>Father not allowed within 500ft of grandparents house, they're afraid he'd "kidnap" his own child
>Not-father still on child-support as of March 2016

I think Kinetic Invocation was a huge help to the kineticist. It doesn't fix the issues with Burn, but it at least gives kineticists some real utility by way of spells. Particularly since there's ways to get access to it without actually taking the feat.
>>
>>51770153

The clothing need to be armor, which means a minimum armor bonus of +1.

Certain types of silk shirts and particularly puffy coats can give you a +1.

Point being: it must still "count" as armor to get any enhancement bonus, though.

It's basically infinite spellcasting for an avant-garde actually.

Also palatable if using stamina as a buffer for burn as some GMs allow, though that's obviously houserules by that point.

Legendary Kineticist can also do it a little more easily. As could the Utility Mutation, but that'll trash your blasts.

My game has a street urchin NPC, a low-level Rogue in a mid-level party. Instead of treating her like a normal character with an initiative score she's like a 'tag-in' ally in a fighting game. She hangs back behind cover or in shadows until she's signalled to help, at which point she sneaks in and aids an ally as part of an attack or combat maneuver. So far her most common method of aid is her jumping on someone's back and wrapping her arms around their face while the Cleric smacks a mace into their stomach. After helping briefly she retreats and looks for another opening, unless an enemy attacks her which usually results in her being incapacitated for the rest of the encounter.

I think Rogue and Sorcerer are popular choices for street urchin characters because it's easy to explain and they don't require a lot of formal training. In cities with lots of parks or greenery you could also get away with teenage Druids, and you could make a decent case for teenagers with Barbarian and Fighter levels. Most of the other classes require access to training or resources that street kids just don't have, especially Wizards. Spellbooks don't exactly fall out of the sky, but anyone can be a dragon's great-grandchild.
>>
>>51770824
Summoner and Witch could work too.
>>
>>51770800
You can't, because Paizo won't out in the effort.

Have you never ridden a horse before? The heels make it HARDER to fall, not easier. And you don't get caught in the stirrups, indeed the spikes or flats that were worn made your feel less likely to be caught on anything, because they'd just slide right out.
>>
So...I have been given a pre-made rogue dwarf character. In what way should I level him up until I get to play a real character?
>>
>>51771098

Well, actually there he's not wrong, but it's neoconservative, not classical.

Non-intervention was the conservative policy waaaay back before the "new conservative" movement (which were considered too left by the neocons later, which themselves were more recently considered too left by alt-right).

Problem of course being that "non-intervention" is like practicing communism: It quickly turns into quite the sham. Competition gets replaced by cartels without regulation, and once firmly entrenched, suddenly "government intervention" happens again; at the beck and call of the monopolies. Telcoms that are often the *only* choice in many small areas using government intervention to block municipal fiber in one hand while deregulating anti-trust protections with the other.

Some of the best actual characters I've ever roleplayed with were lady knights, ranger girls or sorceresses whose kinkiest action was being a power bottom or wanting it shoved in places other than the "natural" way.

Most, if not all, spellbooks are written in such a way that deciphering it would be impossible unless you had Read Magic. I have a question about how to approach religion and Gods in the world I'm making.

The main religion consists of several deities, it is the most common religion and practiced by 70-80% of the population.

However there is an evil deity, who is worshiped by a small cult who is at war with the main religious organisation.

I want the plot twist to be that the evil deity is the true and only God whilst the others aren't truly divine.

The problem is that I still want the "fake" deities to still give divine powers and such to Clerics etc. but at the same time they are not really divine.

How do I deal with this? Is it possible or should I just settle for "they are divine but lesser"?

Mythic beings with enough ranks can power clerics. So make them mythic characters. They'll be demigods.

In golarion demigods outnumber actual gods by a huge margin. Empyreal Lords, Daemon Harbingers, Archdevils, Demon Lords, Ascendant, and many more. Gods make up a small minority of those who give clerics power.

They're powerful mythic characters, not full gods. They were a band of adventuring heroes who managed to overthrow the dark god from his throne. Dirty Fighting already fixed Combat Expertise.

a lot of people use feat tax rules for stuff like that and similar

Dirty Fighting fixed it.

So the way I would fix Self Pact, because as is it is too strong, is to change it from Cha to all three saves to half charisma to all three saves. Let them still take the one clause to get full Cha to one save, but keep the rest at half. That'd bring their numbers more in line.

Also Spirited Swordsman is a mistake and shouldn't exist, especially in conjunction with Aether Channel.

Alright, thank you!
Now I'm considering making the source of the divine magic to be most of the evil God's powers sealed in some sort of a monolith or large stone and the knowledge of that monolith/stone is passed down via a magic ring/amulet which the leader of the Covenant (the main religious body of the kingdom) gets when the previous one dies.

This can lead to a fun quest line finale where the cultists kill the leader, take the amulet and you have to stop them before they destroy the source and return all the power to the evil God.

You do this progression:
>1st level - Aether Rounds
>2nd level - ??? and free Aether Rounds (the ??? can't be Aether Rounds, no doubling up)
>4th level - Aether Rounds
>6th level - Aether Rounds

so yes
>>
>>51773631
Razmir's whole deal is fooling people. What's a better way to do that? Private research, a feat, and permanent immortality? Or 50k gold and a shipment from Thuvia so you can look younger, something that doesn't even matter since he always wears a mask.

>mfw this gives me maxed Aether Rounds and maxed Aether Blade

And here I thought my character would be a pure Ranged attacker, but now he's got a downright spiffy stabby stab that's Melee Touch!
>>
>>51773753
Self pact is only stronger than other pacts by a little. Spirited swordsmanship making it super SAD /is/ probably a mistake, but doesn't make the pact overpowered. Plus, self pact is boring as shit compared to other pacts. It's just monk lite.
>>
>>51773859
Honestly the only pacts that interest me are:
>Self
>Nation
>Otyugh
>Fiend

And Otyugh only interests me because of how weird it is.

As a question do you mean mechanically or fluff-wise?
>>
>>51773505
Retarmir should be kill soon and Razmiran spot used for something more interesting, like Futaland.
>>
>>51773893
>or fluff-wise?
It screams of "avowed for someone who hates the idea of avowed" at least to me.

I like the idea of drawing power directly from one's sense of self. It reminds me of several fantasy novels that use the idea of old beings who have such a strong identity it empowers them. Because for me it is different from other "power from within" like sorcerer. This is one's identity and it exerting power on the world around it.

Self-realization and all that.
>>
>>51773893
Self pact is cool and solid at its schtick, but it isn't REALLY much of an avowed. It's the pact for people who just want the mechanics. Which isn't bad, just full.
>>
Is Fire Resistance or Immunity common in Reign of Winter?
>>
>>51773969
Shouldn't it be much more generic mechanically instead of "monk" the pact?
>>
>>51774000
More likely than you'd think.
>>
>>51773969
I like Self Pact's fluff actually. Drawing power from one's identity and sense of self is something I like that isn't really catered too. Even Psionics, which is the most "power from within" classes don't really fill the role.

Power from one's identity is interesting. I have seen before in fantasy novels the idea of one who has a very clear sense of self is less effected by magic. The idea being that magic can not change something that is too engrained in the world. I love that and Self Pact actually does that to a degree with Cha to saves. I really wish it was Cha to saves against Su/SLA/Spells, that'd be my dream ability.

>>51774006
It's meant to more be the punchy pact. It isn't supposed to use armor or weapons and rely on the physical body. It gets Cha to AC as an armor bonus and stuff for unarmed melee.
>>
>>51774048
It being more common than you'd think is what I was worried about.

More specifically, would it be a bad idea for me to specialize in Fire damage?

How much would a Composite (+2) Longbow made out of Darkwood cost?

Is there even a reason I should be making this thing out of Darkwood beyond "s'cool?"
>>
>>51774000
Not as common as in Legacy of Fire.

>>51774106
You can definitely make it work. There aren't that many fire immune enemies and there are a lot with fire vulnerability.
>>
>>51774147
330gp

300gp for bow at 3 pounds
30gp for darkwood with 10/pound of original item

It's more of a cool factor than anything else. It does weigh less but it's already only 3 pounds, so not like you're cutting much.

Dragon's also pretty cool; you get power based on how much money you're carrying around!
>>
>>51773823
...Does it really?
1 - Aether rounds
2 - Aether rounds + Aether blade
4- Aether rounds
6 - Aether Rounds
8 - Aether Blade

That's not quite both shapes maxed out, you're missing one.
>>
>>51774000
It comes up more often than you'd first think, but there's just as many enemies (if not more) with a vulnerability to fire instead. Really, RoW is one of the few APs where specializing in fire is a net gain.

I had a player that demanded that they be a vampire but didn't inform the rest of the party, I was fine with it but I told him it was a timed quest so having to wait for the sun to go down put a real constraint on the party. His feeding requirement started a rumor that the entire party was vampires and hunters came after the party. Long story short, quest failed due to time constraint, the number of vampire/undead hunters that the party killed was enough to the point of tipping the balance so undead now roam the land fairly unchallenged.

Pretty good quest.

>It's basically infinite spellcasting for an avant-garde actually.
Is this a particular class or archetype?
>>
>>51775756
Psionic archetype by DSP. Takes a bunch of burn at the start of the day to reduce the burn cost of everything they do by 1 for every 3 they took. Also gets an Astral Construct buddy.
