I need some help on deciding between Raven Guard or Blood Angels. Which has the best models and fluff out of the two? Which has the most fun rules? Which has the coolest colors? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

As a Salamanders player: woud it be worth upgrading my tactical squad sergeant to have a power weapon?

This is keeping in mind that the squad already has the extra CCWs, as I assume that they'll likely be experiencing alot of close range shooting that leads into melee (being salamanders and all). Would a power weapon help, or would I be better to just stick him with the CCW (or even a heavy chain sword?). Chances are I'd likely stick him in artificer armor if I do upgrade. What is my best option?

As you get further away from Terra, the gothic levels begin to decrease.

Every book usually has a new mission set of six missions to roll on, and I imagine those are going to be Prospero-themed since it's the entire book. The mechanics of the mission can probably be translated to other armies if you wanted, but yeah, I imagine at least a few are going to feel very TS vs SW.

How? You do realize that if it's "unit", a praetor with a command squad and a rhino constitutes as 3 HQ units. But if it's "choice" then they constitute a single choice.

If you read the rulebook, you'd know that a dedicated transport takes on the role of the unit it was purchased for. So a rhino bought for a tactical squad is considered Troops and one bought for vets is considered Elite.

I love the Luna Wolves white and black, Imperial Heralds (WB), and Warhounds up till now.
Pale Nomads (Rg) are ok, but a it to similar to their ordinary one.

I do not know why, but I really like how clunky MKII and MKIII look. Something a lot less refined than later patterns and thus more fitting the whole tech barbarian theme , scavenging old awesome tech and making it work.

Probably also the reason I love the mechanicum, clunky byzantine stuff.

Is there a consensus on the usefulness of the Vigilator ? I'm building up an Ironwing army (easier thanks to my collection of 40k tanks) and I'm considering including one since I always liked sneaky sniper characters and could use his sabotage to try and get some wounds on his Devastators or other anti-tank infantry before the game starts.

I think the other reason they have such an appeal though is there overall theme. Unlike most legions they don't have an over arching theme to show and rub in your face, but the more you look at them, you slowly start to see this Proto-Roman/Germanic Roman vibe to them and as the SoH, there Ostrogoths

What would you cut in order to do so? That's 60 points to put in sky hunters vs outriders, but skyhunters don't have access to power swords. Another 20 for centurion jetbike, which is the most valid criticism even though the command squad is there to absorb wounds for him with 3+ jink with skilled rider. Cutting another plasma canon bike would let me do that and have a few points to spare. Making them multi melta jetbikes vs plasma would make them cheaper, but then I'm giving up 36" range. Are they still useful that way? Am I better off getting rid of the command squad entirely in favor of more sky hunters, foregoing assault entirely? I could probably live with that.

If I do that I might also drop the Primus in favor of getting regular bike apothecaries.

Son of Horus here, thinking of how I want to start my out army.

I got about 20 of both assault and tactical marines, 10 tartaros terminators and a Contemptor (Who I'm converting into a cortus). And 10 Mk IIIs who I'm thinking of using as Heavies.

I'm planing on making use of the Long march rite and getting drop pods for termies and dreadnought along with auto cannons for the heavy support. What else would be a good investment for a assault heavy army with some presence to defend the backfield/support the tactics as they move up?

Presuming that we get another box at all, the established pattern would make it seem far more likely that they'd provide three sets of a 10 man tactical squad in whatever armour mark they're doing (II would seem most likely), rather than having two different marks of tactical squad. Got to save something for future boxes after all, rather than just spaffing it all in one. The real question is what else they'll include. They've done both types of terminator armour after all, so something will have to replace that, and there's the question of the contemptor/custodes element.

I think the breachers boat has sailed, what with them having produced MkIII in plastic already. Best you can hope for on that front is a resin upgrade set from FW, I think. Tanks of any sort seem a deeply unlikely inclusion for a boxed board game. I don't doubt that plenty of people would like plastic dickbikes, but I think that's going to have to wait for when WS come out rather than accompanying BA and DA in Angelus. It's partially wishlisting, but I think that assault marines are the best bet. If GW had an ounce of sense then they could do a combination kit which could include 5 marines in a mark of armour, jump packs as well as normal backpacks, and close combat options as well as bolters (a bit like the death company box). Might be a better option than winding up with tactical squads in all six different marks.

I've realised a Primus Medicae is really only good to take to attach to terminators since normal apothecaries can't, and for taking a refractor field. Giving the Delegatus a jetbike requires giving the command squad the same, but dropping the Medicae for a regular bike apothecary let's me fit that in and have a big ol' ball of heavy bolters and 2+.

Also a good point, and I'll be wanting to move enough that getting close is fine and hit and run lets me escape if assaulted. Changing them to multi melta gives me the 30 points needed to make the outriders sky slayers with 2 culverins each. I only have one choppy unit, but they have heavy bolters so they're fine shooting and if they get caught in assault, I have power weapons and hit and run to get out of combat and charge back in on my turn to teach the enemy the error of their ways.

Hey HHG! I'm wanting to build a more or less (less probably) fluffy Dark Mechanicum army using the Legiold Cybernetica and going with a necron-esque vibe. I'm basing the necron part off the pic of Scoria where if you look closely you can see a tiny necron scarab perched on him.

Anyway, I'm torn between using a 40k Dominus model and building anew Abeyant for him out of a cantopik bits OR using Cawl and converting the legs with, you guessed it, more necron legs.

Thoughts? I'm literally split 50/50 on which way to go with him. My thallax and Castellax are pretty much stock but I used destroyer gauss Cannons for the thallax lightning guns and another necron gun I can't recall at the moment for Darkstar Cannons. I can try to take pics of my WIP later...

So how many points is it customary to spend on an Archmagos or his subsidiary Magi?

I like giving all the small fry a Machinator Array, since it does a stupid number of things for the 25 points, gives a nice couple guns, massively improved anti-tank, T boost and better repair, but that's all they get.

For the Archmagos, he tends to get really expensive.
Archimandrite, Machinator, Abeyant, familliar, Djinskein and all 4 Occularis and a couple decent weapons like a chainfist and Photon Thruster comes to 350-odd points.
Is that too much? Quite a lot of that is support abilities for the whole army that aren't really tied to him, so that ameliorates it a bit.

He's def. Primarch tier, if not the same in a fight. Throws out 4 Interceptor-granting, cover-screwing Nuncio-Voxes that can be individually controlled and move fast, grants every vehicle IWND, boosts reserves by 1 and has a cognis-signum and his own nuncio-vox. Also the usual archmagos punchy abilities, since he's hanging out with some Myrmidons. He can't fight Primarchs, but IMO he buffs about as well as Ferrus Manus, and is 100 points under him for some improved combat skills and EW, and is also not a LoW.

He's certainly superior to the Custodes Tribune, even if he's not as tough.

Do Cyber-Occularis grant victory points for being popped? I can't find anything about it in the army list.

Can any IH anons justify Medusan Immortals to me?

Mathhammer wise a base breacher squad with an apothecary is cheaper, however immortals cost -3ppm, but that won't matter unless you get 12 or more guys.

The weapon options are the same except for immortals being able to switch bolters for chainswords (literally pointless since they have boarding shields) and immortals can all take volkite chargers, which is ok but probably not worth 5pts. For me at least, the benefit is dropping a PF sarge to gib characters- trades are pretty common against anything short of a praetor- and maybe getting some meltaguns to surprise buttsex rhinos, but none of this is improved by immortals.

Am I missing something, cause right now breacher honestly look like the better option.
