When they burn en entire building of sleepwalkers into a grease spot on the concrete.

Reposting from last thread since I'm still annoyed.

What is it about Mage that brings out casual sadism in the most 'moral' normal players?

They fucking burned an entire building of unwitting Seer lackeys. Actually the building is fine all the people were burned to death. Jesus fuck, I have to rewrite some of my campaign now.
>>
>>51765617

My latest WoD was a young Silver Fang Ahroun from America from some disaffected kinfolk, so he ate a lot of crap from his Tribe elders and was basically sent on a suicide mission to Europe. The game ended prematurely but in short he never established a Sept or Caern of his own and preferred to keep travelling with his Ragabash Shadowlord companion, who made it her job to keep him alive and out of trouble.

Ha, nothing surpasses the 40k and /or PF fanbases.

I'm not sure that the PF threads are worse, given that they can actually discuss their settings when prompted or offer 'sound' mechanical advice, and the 40k threads are similarly useful when prompted at least most of the time.

Plus they don't get bent out of shape about pdfs because they aren't trying to fanboy and dick ride any writers like you fags do.

I'm not sure I understand something about these Preludes 'games'.
Right-leaning people are triggered by the fact there's a trans character that kills trump supporters, and that the 'good path' in Mage is hellping refugees.
Left-leaning people are triggered by the fact that the author of the Vampire game is known from rpg.net and SA for being an asshole with a mob at his disposition for doxxing people.

Reason #678 as to why I prefer Ascension: Paradox doesn't give a shit how smart you are.
>>
Friendly Neighborhood Mekhet here. Our encounter with "Scorch" is over. The whole place burned down partly our fault. I obfuscated out of there. Gangrel turned into a bat to escape. Nosferatu was able to make good on his Nightmare which caused the girl to set everything on fire including the corpses of the children. No more evidence. Got out with 1-2 aggravated damage. The next night a man knocked at our apartment apologized for his "daughter's" behavior. He gave a bobble of fresh blood that doesn't seem to coagulate, retaining the vitae inside as a peace offering. He also gave us another lead on the child killer. So we drank the magical blood to replenish our vitae. As our undead bodies processed the blood, we all had a vision of Scorch. She apologized for her attack and said that she went behind her mentor's back to purse this case. Apparently, her mentors care little for the a serial killer but her friend was a victim years ago so this is personal. Now she's "grounded" so she hopes we can help her with the case. In the vision she looked awfully pale, making realize that the blood we were drinking was hers.
>>
>>51766781
>the 'good path' in Mage is helping refugees.
I give absolutely zero fucks about politics one way or the other, but what the fuck is this about helping sleepers and this being the 'right thing to do'. A sleeper's a fucking sleeper and the less of them there are, the fucking better. And that goes for all versions of Mage as far as I can tell.

How paradox works in Awakening now completely disconnected from covert and vulgar and has all to do with control an discipline. Its still uo the Mage the screw himself over. This time its a concious choice to invoke paradox or not. It Paradox happens its because you let it happen.

Zak S and his groupies are all heavily leftist, also. It's just that the (even more?) leftist people who are mad at him - rightly or wrongly or a mix of both - want to try and match him onto actually being some kind of conservative because in places like SA and RPG.net, harasser = conservative = bad, so if Zak harassed someone he's probably Donald Trump Jr.

It's pretty funny seeing Dave Hill say how he'll never work with Onyx again and so on because of Zak S's involvement and oh man he's such a bad boy harasser when Hill's an anarchist whose own ideology requires bodies covering the streets and which explicitly endorses political violence. Please do fuck off, buddy.

Or because you're being witnessed by Sleepers.
>>
>>51767345
But you don't have a suspect I take from it?
>>
>>51767317
I'm a conservative, so I think Zak S is a degenerate, and when I looked at the harassment accusations when they were current, I remember thinking that some of them (but only some of them) were probably true. We'd probably be marginally better off if he left the hobby entirely tomorrow.

But it's just that the opposition he's got in this case compels me to take his side, because they're such complete filth. It's difficult to think of anyone I wouldn't end up reflexively on the side of against the anarchist and communist loons within RPG.net and the like. If you're gonna talk about how a guy who maybe sent threatening messages on social media or whatever is villainous while fully endorsing violent revolution and palling around with paedophiles, I'm not going to end up on your side, yeah?

Zak's a Anarchist too. Even besides that, this isn't some principled stand against extreme leftism, this whole thing started because he couldn't handle Hill's opinions over Star Wars.

The man can write some decent material, but as a person he still sucks and far too many of his fans are either his sock puppets or completely unhinged lunatics, probably the former. Even if you don't like the other guy, I wouldn't get in his corner.

>>51768013

It's actually out to Kickstarter backers at the moment. The biggest surprise to me is that Bill Bridges is a writer on it. Seeing a White Wolf book with his name on it in 2017 is pretty neat.

I recently joined an ongoing VtM game. Other PCs:
>Powerful and old Samedi that runs the gangs of a Haiti Ghetto under the guise of some voodoo prophet, and have some fucking scary Nurgle-like discipline to rot people down in moments. Also a right hand vamp of a Prince's right-hand vamp.
>(Un)Living-blender bitchy Gangrel headhunter chik with enough fighting power to rip apart a Werewolf, and a body trail long enough to fill a small cemetery, also Sheriff's favorite childe.
>Me, a noname young Tremere Noir Detective with no fighting power, no connections (save my clan), almost no trademark Tremere Majick, just a lot of investigative and spy shit. Scared out of my unlife for having to work with these monsters that can end me in a heartbeat, more so because I'm secretly spying on them on behalf of my Clan.
We're all apparently working for the Scourge, though I haven't been told the exact details beside "go there and help them"
Have no idea what the plot is - the first night is me trying to unfuck the massive Masquerade breach those two made when fighting a hunter and then eating a Police patrol that came looking for the sounds of gunfire (bonus points for doing it in Anarch domain, which pisses them off). Manage to spread a bunch of false rumors through the streets to quench the spread of true rumors of some crazy bitch riping a heart of a police officer and beating the second one to death with a severed leg of the third, then i go trhriugh the Hunter gear cna corpse they get and fund out the Hunter was almost certainly from the Inquisition.
Second night right after me filling a report to my Tremere KGB-curator i pick up a phone call from a Gangrell bitch. Apparently she went berserk and made a second bloodbath in public and now on the run with cops on her ass running for Haiti Ghetto. Take my car and go to pick her up. Cops get to her first, bust her minivan, kill her ghoul driver and wound her ghoul dog, she goes berserk and rips 3 more cops apart.
>>
>>51768133
Your team looks like a pleasent bunch
>>
>>51768133
I sneak clother to pick her up immediatelly after she regains sense, all thw while listening to police radio and growing pale(r) as they first tsend all patrols than the SWAT to the site. Despite my epic sneak if fumble three ones, frenzying Gangrell bitch finds me and starts to chase me. Bust her knee with my revolver which barely slows her down, then set her head on fire with a clever application of a whisky bottle and my level 1 flame spell. She does not give a fuck and tries to rip me apart and drink me dry all the while burning and taking no damage because of her Endurance. After we extremely lucky dodges I'm still unharmed, she regains her sanity, realize she's on fire, panics and start running in circles waving her hands and screaming, still no damage. Luckily my car is close, I use my extinguisher and she calms down. Cops are 1 minute away. Some good rolls on driving and streetwise and I drive out without taking any heat from the cops, though seats of my car are now thoroughly fucked, covered in blood and guts she was covered after ripping apart those poor cops.
Samedi calls in, asking what the fuck with cops swarming all over his domain. Apparently I'm the one to blame too, and I roll with it because well, it Is his domain after all. He tasks me with exocrizing a ghost from an abandoned house in his neighborhood because "of course you can, you're fucking Tremere". He gfoes to deal with a cop problem and send his Bokor-Ghoul to look after me.

I bullshit a "commune with spirits" ritual in front of a Bokor and contact my Sire to rattle on Gangrel bitch's Masquerade breach and redpil me on "Gosts 101". Then bullshit sactify the haunted house, and tell the Bokor to quarantine it for a week. He insists I exorcice the place right now OR ELSE, and I like "or eelse what?" and he casts some voodoo majick and my face rots away.
>>
>>51768289
Fucking jackpot! My secret goal all along was to infiltrate a Samedi domain and find out about "misterious magik user" operating there, and a secondary goal was to gather as much dirt on my teammmates as possible - and I was wearing a bug and making pictures with my covert camera all this time. Now my Clan have losts of political leverage, I get a promotion in the Pyramide for my efforts, and two othetr players are on the brink of being Blood Hunted and already making backup characters.

>Be a mortal psychic among a group of three mages and two Changelings
>Discover a priest is part of a local Long Night cell, possibly in charge
>We make up a plan to kidnap by having a Mage use Ghost Gate on both himself and the priest, then knocking the priest out in Twilight before exiting Twilight and putting the priest in our car
>Me, one Mage, and a Changeling go
>I opt to stay in the car
>The kidnapping is in the middle of the streets in broad daylight so...we decide we need a distraction
>The Mage makes several Ghosts Manifest...in broad daylight. In public.
>People start screaming as the Ghosts freely fuck around and attack people.
>Mage and Changeling enter Twilight, then Ghost Gate the priest as well
>They fail to both intimidate him and knock him out before exiting Twilight
>It should be noted that when exiting Twilight via Ghost Gate, all non-living objects remain in their ephemeral state
>So, nine onlookers see three naked men materialize out of fucking nowhere
>Mage somehow contains all the Paradox or something
>Naked priest starts screaming about being kidnapped and tries to run away
>Changeling uses some very, very good rolls and a bunch of Glamour to semi-convince onlookers it's all a movie, at least for a short time
>Meanwhile I take out my tazer and discharge into the nude man of the frock, hitting him in the groin
>As he's convulsing, the (nude) Mage and Changeling tie him up and toss him into the trunk

One bystander still managed to record a video of two naked men tying up a convulsing priest and tossing him into a car trunk.
Plus another recorded a video of the panic (ghosts aren't visible in the video, but it's clear something bizarre is happening) but who cares about that one?

Thankfully they missed our license plate and they didn't get a clear image of our faces. Currently one of the Mages is thinking we should actually spread the videos everywhere and claim it's part of a viral advertising campaign for a movie...yeah.

Wow. So White Wolf posted about hiring Zak S and basically said they are 2edgy4u and they totally found he did nothing bad or wrong at all. They magically did this without asking any of the people involved, because obviously everything they needed to see was up on the interwebs clear as day.

It's not that I don't believe you, White Wolf's first book release was a book edited by a known child molester after all, I'm just still fathoming White Wolf's ability to piss off people in their own fanbase.

>>51770394

Artist and porn star, can't handle it when people have different opinions than him, and therefore self googles and tries to pick fights through fans and sockpuppets, giving him just enough breathing room to deny everything he does.

People really love hiring him, especially if they like the idea of their work being "edgy", and since he can deny and delete everything if necessary, he still gets work.
>>

Vornheim and Red and Pleasant Land are probably his best known stuff, he won an Ennie last year for the latter, though there was some controversy because there were more votes for it than its entire amount of sales at the time, though I personally don't see that as a huge deal.

It's really weird that he would sign on for an oWoD project, and it's double weird that White Wolf wouldn't at least consider that there'd be a possibility of him and Hill being in the same room since Hill's a White Wolf/OPP vet, and that there might be some bad blood between the two. Hill almost certainly would be working on OPP's 5e material, too, since he was the line head of that he Dark Ages: Vampire revival so he has experience.

Wait, who's a fucking child molester?

Edward E. Kramer was an early White Wolf editor responsible for early fiction anthologies. Got some big names for them too, and he was a Dragon Con founder.

He is also guilty of three counts of child molestation. He got caught with a kid while serving pre-jail house arrest. He allegedly attempted to delay his trial for so long that it is the longest delayed trial in Georgia history. The SF/F community was pretty torn up and divided about it, and his name became mud.

Dracula decided that republishing Dark Destiny, which he worked on, was a great idea. This republishing is also where we get that "bleeding junk" passage from. Of course, Dracula probably doesn't know about drama in the US SF/F community from the 90s and 2000s, and just figured it'd be a good idea to republish the anthology with Harlon Ellison in it and also declare every story in the book canon.

It's not an apocalypticly bad decision, but it sure doesn't look good to anyone in the know.
>>
>>51770394
People like calling him a harasser, but they never provide proof. I will concede that he can be an asshole though. His OSR books are good.
>>
>>51766695

>>
Suppose Onyx manages to lose the WoD license due to drama. Who would you like to see as their replacement?
>>
>>51770872
Zak S
>>
>>51770872
There won't be a replacement. It'll just be white wolf working in their new wod as they planned. Whatever scraps need to be done on a tabletop game, then most of the attention given to larp and their 'multimedia' plans.

They're going to functionally kill wod as a tabletop game as they'll just give it the bare minimum.
>>
>>51770872

Should OPP cut ties with White Wolf, White Wolf will probably just move everything in house, since CofD isn't their priority. White Wolf, since they've already got a working relationship with Asmodee Digital for the Preludes, may attempt to license tabletop material out to Fantasy Flight Games.

If FFG doesn't work out, it'll probably go to a Swedish game studio, or Dracula will get Paradox to straight up buy Helgast so he can just revive Target Games, the tabletop company that formed the basis of Paradox. That way he also gets the rights to KULT and all his favorite games are in one place.

The real issue is that if the WoD license goes, so will the Exalted one, too. I could not imagine how the suffering of an Exalted fan would increase should 3e be killed before it even got fully shipped.

Or, WW/Paradox could keep the IP in-house, but mostly use the same stable of freelancers currently employed by OPP.

If that happened, except for some editorial changes on the fringes, particularly for CofD, very little might actually change.

Without Rich Thomas and his Phil Brucato fetish, a new creative director and editor might actually demonstrably improve the quality of both future oWOD and CofD books.

It's an old meme from the usenet days. Probably older than me or you. Since Vampires and the undead fell under the sphere of matter it was theoretically possible to transform one into another inert object like a lawn chair trivializing any encounter.

This was spurred by the rivalry of Mage and Vampire players which were the two most popular game lines.

#NotAllSleepers
>>
>>51771268

If it went in house, they would not work on CofD material. They would barely work on any tabletop material and all. Tabletop RPGs are not White Wolf's priority.

>a new creative director

Martin Ericcson, who would hire Brucato anyways. He's still the man who has final approval over everything OPP publishes, approved M20, and he wants to surround himself in names that give him and new White Wolf historical legitimacy. If Brucato is suddenly a free agent, the man would snap him up in a heartbeat, since he can't snap up one of the Wiecks, since they worked on Mage 1e and would most likely be his real desire.

The quality will not improve because either there will be few to little books, or Dracula continues to go for name power, regardless of anything else.

Fact of the matter is, because of sockpuppeting and plausible deniability (you can't say they did it if some asshole friends and fans did it), Zak can't really be touched. The best anyone can seem to do is recognize his writing style like we do Aspel's, and that's never going to be enough to prove anything.

OPP is going to do 5e material. The Monday Meeting blogs have mentioned this, though we do not know exactly how OPP will be involved or what kind of material it will be. As far as we know, that's still happening.

If this was simply a guy at Focus leaving the Werewolf project over something like this, I'd get what you're saying, but Ericcson is specifically close to Onyx Path to the point where he's swapping stories and drinks with Rich Thomas and helping deconstruct the GenCon booth. Onyx Path is also their only steady licensor at this point and time. Given that the Zak Sabbath controversy is easily googlable, and that it involves the experience of a prolific freelancer for your main current licensor, one would think that addressing the situation would require something with more tact and nuance than a "oh yeah it's all false" paragraph at the end of a PR article.

No matter what, it's a hornet's nest, and given that Ericcson knows Sabbath and regularly communicates with them on Facebook before the announcement of the Preludes, and talking about his "revolutionary heart", it possible that this is a hornet's nest that he intentionally stepped into. Let's hope that is not the case, because Hill leaving, no matter how you feel about him, means that we're probably getting even more delays as each of his contracts are killed and new contracts must be sought out.

So, I previously posted about running a campaign focusing on the negative ramifications of a relatively pacifist vampires vampire on the people around it. (Centred around the ruined life of a blood doll, whose present and future was ruined by what is essentially an abusive boyfriend made of heroin). Run essentially as a 1 on 1 campaign for one of my friends.

So the current plan (Or at least part 1, this got a bit long), with advice from you guys is this:

The player will start off hearing about a girl who has gone missing from a woman's shelter, and because she is such a frequent flier with numerous run ins with the law, shelters, and what else have you, the police aren't going to get involved.

The girl will have left a couple of possessions at the shelter, including a broken laptop and a purse with some make-up, some gum, and a library card (She took the rest with her, or it was stolen by other people in the shelter, I haven't decided).

If they check out the library they'll be able to convince the librarian to let them check out her information, by insinuating that they are a detective looking for her (I'll have the librarian reading Sherlock Holmes or something to give her a hint), or by sneaking past the librarian to access the computer, or by a variety of other means.
Either way, they'll find an address and a list of borrowed books which includes a list of crime novels and books on the occult, and if they go further back a lot of sociology textbooks, travel novels and "Learn X language" audioptapes and the like.
If they go to the address and knock on the door, they'll be greeted by an anxious brother who almost pulls the door from its hinges in his rush to see if his sister has come home.
If they break in I'll allow them to dick around for a bit before they're greeted by a very annoyed brother.
Either way he'll be holding a bat, and have a bunch of questions for the player.

If they convince the brother they're here for the girl he'll be willing spill as much backstory on the girl as they want to hear basically (But not in the way of supernatural stuff).
The only definitely useful information he can provide is the name of her ex (The vampire), who the brother has nothing good to say about, according to him he's a creepy, manipulative little shit, and the bat was meant for him.

If they choose to check through the computer they'll find a browser history which is basically just a litany of attempts to stalk a list of girls, dead social media (With the only people who haven't blocked her being family members and old school buddies), a ton of fake accounts used for the stalking, attempts at poetry saved around her computer, a fuckton of photographs of her and some pale guy which are always just a little blurry.
If they investigate the messages she's got it's mostly from said brother who asks her to come home, that there's always a bed for her at his place, and that he'll be waiting at her place.
If they investigate her social media beyond that they'll see a progression from posts of her and class mates going out drinking to celebrate exams, posts from an active social life, pictures from a backpacking tour a while back, and then a decline in to what is basically vague posting about hurt feelings, lost jobs, posts about her TRUE friends, and finally lashing out at those same people and then a dead account.

They can choose to follow up on the brother, or they can try and track down some of the girls she was stalking.

That's as far as I've gotten apart from some scattered ideas about what's happened to the other girls and the identity of her ex.

Got any ideas for me, feedback or insults?

>starts by proposing a campaign were hunters are always wrong

What did he mean by this?
>>
>>51774102

Will they? This all hinges on whether or not people really want Urban Fantasy or whether or not they just want WoD/CofD. A lot of its popularity seems to be mostly related to brand name at this point.

Don't get me wrong, a bunch of new UF/Horror settings would be cool, I just don't see how *of Darkness dying specifically helps that happen, especially since it's overall presence is quieter in recent years.
>>
>>51774232
Anon, I believe you misunderstood my intention and first post.

My player's contention was that Hunters were by and large in the wrong because of their antagonist roles in other splats (Often hurting those she considered relatively innocent), and because of their connection to bigotry, xenopobia and general small mindedness and revenge.

I wanted to explore the damage that even a relatively "virtuous" vampire can do on a life (Her own character in a vampire game having a blood doll of her own, and having killed a hunter before). I want to explore "The other side" so to speak.

But you are right so far it seems like I'm letting Hunters be the unsung and unquestioned heroes.
Of course ideas of how to introduce elements of grey morality are welcome.

(So far I do have the idea that the brother will show up in a later campaign, having picked up the vigil in memory of his sister, and leaving his own trek of broken lives in the quest for vengeance)
>>
>>51774399

No shit, if she has a fucking blood doll she deserves to be hunted. Regularly bleeding a human can have really negative health effects on them, and those effects lead to more problems in general.

Not to mention the insane danger that comes from even having one foot in the world of just about any splat.

And on the subject of the Hunter, if she justifies killing them based on her prejudices, then she is a huge hypocrite.

Anon, that's part of what the point of this campaign is. Seeing things from the other side.

I don't need criticism of her as a person, I need ideas and feedback for the campaign.
>>
>>51774399
If I were you then I would base things heavily around different perspectives. Like you have the brother who hates the vampire, that's good. Now you need to come up with ways to paint the vampire in a different light, a better one that shows that it isn't such a black and white situation. I doubt your player's Hunter will get many willing testimonies from the vampire's vampire friends, so maybe have a really monstrous vampire that had beef with the vampire, demanded his blood doll as compensation, the vamp refused, and he fought to defend the blood doll when the monster vamp attacked. The player could find this out through a confrontation with the monster vamp, possibly as the climax of an investigative angle.

This has the advantage of showing that there are vampires who deserve hunting, and that the vampire actually cared for the blood doll. Maybe have the monster vamp deliver that bit by sneering something like "But he couldn't just let his precious little meatsack go, the pussy".

Anyway, you don't have to do that exactly, but you should show different perspectives that aren't wholly right or wrong on their own, but are still perfectly understandable and valid.

How do Beasts even learn their history?

They have no organizations.
>>

>Just because they're powerful does not mean it interesting to play them

How bold of you to predict just what other people enjoy out of tabletop gaming.
>>
>>51775053
Its probably why none of them know anything and their cosmology is so weak.
>>
>>51768827
Mages are basically just operating on a higher scale. Sure they have more power, but they also have more powerful antagonists, considering that they mostly tend to be other Mages or Abyssal horrors.

This means that for a Mage just starting out, you need to tread lightly so that you don't get Adepts and Masters and Abyssals trying to lay the smack down on your Disciple ass.

It's also supremely satisfying to use magic creatively and to finally get enough power to not be easily fucked with.
>>
>>51774988
I was thinking of making one of the reasons the vampire abandoned her that he saw the damage he did to her.
Although I'm partial to him not really caring about the blood doll (The same way players often act towards herds).
I think it'll depend on how the player is viewing the vampire before she confronts him. (If she's sympathetic he doesn't care, if she's definitely hating him then we'll see)
Him showing affection towards the blood doll is definitely going to be a thing though.

Even if I don't use your idea exactly bringing in another perspective on the character is definitely a good idea.
Maybe he saved one of the other girls? (Like Heather in Bloodlines, or maybe a girl used to be a ghoul for a more evil vampire?)

And fighting more evil vampires is definitely a thing vampire protagonists do...

Thanks for your ideas.
>>
>>51774854
I remember in 1e at least there was plenty of shit changelings could do that mages couldn't do shit against (Not having an appropriate mechanic actually written into the game) like dragging them into the hedge, or stealing their soul, and such stuff.
>>
>>51775326
>dragging them into the hedge
Mages can force themselves in-and-out of the Hedge. Not sure about Arcadia.
>stealing their soul
Easier said than done. The Hedge only eviscerates the Soul, and may not even work on Mages as of 2E. The Seekers are also explicitly immune to anything hampering with their soul.
>>
>>51775385
>Mages can force themselves in-and-out of the Hedge. Not sure about Arcadia.
In 1e they had to use doors and had no special talent to find them as the Hedge, Arcadia, and the Wyrd, were outside the Purview of the arcana because they didn't exist when the Arcana were written.
>>
>>51775469
It's the exact opposite as of 2E, but this was to be expected.
>>
>>51775292
I would say that having not really care about his blood dolls is fine, especially if you're looking to make a point to your player.

Like sure he saved that girl and she gives a glowing testimony of him and how well he treated her, but you show how messed up she is and you could insinuate that he only saved her because it would benefit him.
>>
>>51766781
I cannot even get the game to work
>>
>>51775202
Masters are terrifying to confront. Not sure if there's any way to reliably stand against one.

It only gets worse when you realize how much dice they can pull out of their asses.
>>
Do the magefags have a trigger word?
>>
>>51775518
The plan was always to have the girls talk positively about the vampire (Maybe one would realize it wasn't all great, but she'd still be suppressing the bad parts of it).

But the idea of insinuating that she doesn't even really get his motivations for keeping her around, or saving one, or something of the like, is definitely one I can use.

When it starts I'll definitely give you updates, at this point it's as much your creation as mine.
>>
>>51776267
nWoD Hunter is honestly the best game line for beginners.

The mechanics are way more suited to the lower power level, and it's fairly easy to introduce.
It's also the most morally complex game in the line by default (Although of course such elements can be introduced anywhere and be made easily as prevalent there)

It also lets player get a bunch of toys without having toys that completely change the way the game is played.

>>
>>51776518

>>
>>51776144
I'm an oWoD Hunter fan. I see no reason to play Hunter first, specifically, I think any of the games is fine to play first. To actually answer your question, it really depends on the group and the Storyteller. Some Hunter games are run and guns, some other games involve working your way up a supernatural conspiracy and eventually taking down the top guy. The personal drama in Hunter is usually about trying to balance your normal life while being a tinfoil-hat wearing murderhobo. The tragedy of HtR is that the better you get at killing monsters the more inhuman you become.
>>
>>51776518

Ignore their lies anon, you should play what interests you. Mechanics do not themselves make a fun game; people do! If you and your friends are excited about Hunter, then play it.

>>51776584

>>
>>51776518
As a fan of both Hunters, I'd recommend the nWoD more for beginners, but both are great in their own way.
>>
>>51776518
CofD is balanced like a video game, it relies a lot more on storyteller input
WoD is not balanced at all, it's a lot like a pulp horror novel and has less reliance on storyteller input and more concentrated goals

>it's at this moment of typing that all out that I realize how assbackwards both WoD's are

but they're different enough that they really aren't comparable
>>
>>51777002

It also has Ascension mages, which are far bigger munchkins than Awakening mages.

Hunter is still fucking gay no matter which setting you pick.

Not saying you can't have good writers who do fanfiction - I mean that's basically what comic books, tv or ongoing series that change writers are - but its generally not a good bar. You want someone who has their own creative shit they do and a writing style that is noteworthy or popular, and THEN you hook them into the project.

I feel like Bloodlines was so good because they were basically fans with actually decent writers hired on who filtered a lot of the potential terrible out of VtM before it was allowed into the game.

There's also the even longer shot than 5e, By Night Studios putting out a LARP book for mage that makes paradigm cool and doesn't make the whole game 'vampire-y'. There doesn't need to be a system to turn fucking humans into mages like "the bite" they added into werewolf.
>>
>>51777800

1. Because working for a company where money made from his labor will go to a holding company that will proceed to hire (and judging by the blog post, continue to hire for future projects) someone who either stalks and harasses him off and on or has a lot of fans willing to stalk and harass him off and on is a raw deal, even if you don't like the guy.

2. One previous time in the past, also related to Zak Sabbath either stalking and harassing him or having fans that are willing to stalk and harass him. Now that Zak is doing work for the parent company, this time it'll probably stick, unless Rich or Rose talk him out of it, for what I assume would be the second time.

I assume the major reason why he might not quit is because a significant amount of the CofD production line might go on hold, which would have been the situation had he left last time.

>>51778390

And even if OPP writers avoid WW, there's more than enough edgy writers who liked Bloodlines for Dracula to pick from to write for pittance wages.

That and BNS freelancers will end up doing it and the LARP and Tabletop game will probably get rolled up into one game.

>>
>>51778285

I think that resonance is better than wisdom. The more you use a certain kind of magic the easier it get at the expenses of other kinds of magic morally ambigous enough to really represent choices and consequences.

I like paradigm, i like making my character belief system and that each mage feels unique and flavorful. And i like the traditions as i find them compelling and inspired.

That mages cant cast whatever is convenient at the time but have to get smart and creative. Meaning less "i have found a way to bullshit to do this with my paradigm" and more "oh shit my mage paradigms is fire how do i heal this guy? Got it i will cautherize the wound"

I like consesual reality. I like that there is no magic fairy dust to keep the masquerade up.

I like the hypertech and gonzo and that what i consider the worse part of both mages (seekings/astral) can be bypassed with 1 merit.

I like how the game had a sense of humor about itself something nwod lost the ability to by trying to hard to be adult and serious.

Not really when you get a point in arcanum you get acess to all the possibles uses of that arcanum. I'm in a weird situation. I'm not making any official statements or anything like that.

Zak's been pretty much a nightmare for me for a very long time. I have talked about leaving RPGs over it. Ironically, this isn't a thing of my not following through or anything like that. It's because I don't walk away from contracts I've put work into, because I hate working without pay. I'm STILL working on the same exact contracts. That's how slow shit moves in games sometimes. It's frustrating as hell at times. Believe me, if I could get Changeling 2E released today, I'd pretty much do anything to make that happen. Literally nobody wants that book published more than I do right now. I've taken two more contracts since then, but they were both contracts writing a small amount on things I'd already agree to do, and I put myself into a position where I'm hard to replace.

I'm also waiting to see what goes on with OPP. I don't want to leave them up a creek.
