I like using a combo with mana reflection, krosan restorer, staff of domination, and rhys the redeemed to make an army of elf warriors. Alternatively, I use a large token genrator first like storm herd or martial coup. I've had infinite 5/5 pegasi before. It was great.

Saw this one, willing to roll with it. My group has a tendancy to not touch anyone with huggy things and just get big.

How can I show my playgroup that they consistently make the wrong decisions? They always go for the "tap out and play a single dude when they have countermagic in hand the turn someone is gonna combo off". I present them with all of the information necessary but they still ignore me.

What are some good political strategies for multiplayer games?

The only one I can think of is not being the first player to play a threat to avoid getting all the hate early in the game.

Talk to people, you can play threats but don't be threatening with them. The goal is to win so don't just land-go every turn until someone does something, be proactive.

How do I stop Breya infinite combo?

It has time sieve, nimdeath mantle, cladclan ironworks, ashnods altar, sword of the meek, dereti, thopter foundry, scrap mastery, thopter assembly, etc.

what do you thing about a Kydele / Sidar Kondo deck that uses cards like Coastal Piracy, Edric and Bident of Thassa? can it be good at multiplayer?

Some cards are never going to stop being expensive, it's fine to buy them. You get to have fun, and if you ever have to quit, you can sell it. Oh, and it feels awesome to own the card.

This is my favorite island of all time, but I really enjoy most arts. I even like the full art islands from Zendikar, they're pretty even though everybody uses them.

Nowhere, I'm going to pay $70 for it and a little bit less for the other cards I mentioned by name. The $10 cards are things like Summoner's Pact, Yawgmoth's Will, Greater Good, the new Selvala. I mean, I guess none of them are $10, but you kinda get it.

Tempest lands look so ominous, I love them. I also really want to love Mercadian Masques lands, but they're so dull and boring.

Mana crypt is among the strongest fast mana in the game, only black lotus and lion's eye diamond are above it. And the diamond is only better in a very limited number of strategies. Plus mana crypt is reusable, which in my opinion elevates it above black lotus and the diamond in EDH.

There is not a single deck in the format that doesn't benefit from this card, unless your deck has hardly any generic mana in its mana costs. For any other strategy it's an auto-include if you have it.

Targeted exiling removal, stony silence, phyrexian revoker etc.
When going up against breya first thing you wanna do is take breya herself out of the equation because she is the most dangerous combo piece without combo
Kill her whenever she hits the table, use phyrex revoker so you opponent can't cast her at all, use stony silence or steal her.
Afterwards you deal with the rest of the combo pieces. In your case the next priority is the deathmantle since it combos with so many things.
Also don't overestimate thoptersword combo. It's not as strong in edh as in other formats

I'm in the process of building an all-permanents Ezuri, Claw of Progress EDH deck. I'm purposefully trying to be casual, since my new play group is much less combo-oriented.

Specifically, I'm going off the idea that it would be really fun to have a bunch of weenies with ETB effects in an EDH deck.

My main question is: what is the best way to ramp in permanent based EDH decks? I already have cards like Fertilid and Dawn Treader, plus cards like Yavimaya Dryad and Wood Elves. Is it worth it to have something like Wayfarers Bauble or Font of Fertility? They seem really unexciting but I feel like if I'm not ramping, then I'm going to have a problem.

Is it worth it to run mana dorks in non-elfball Ezuri decks? I'm very concerned about wraths and dead topdecks.

I wouldn't use these together because I always use all basics from the same set and the forest it's great but I think the could be a better one in the future there just aren't that many amazing forests. The one with the deer in it is nice as are a few of the fall ones but most forests are just bland.

I, like fucking everyone, love Zendi full arts, especially fI'll calcuim wastes. If, for whatever reason, I don't feel like looking at full art templates, my favourite arts are all colors from time spiral, esper lands from alara, and Plains from new phyrexia. I like lots of sky, grey colours, and a desolate feeling.

Huh! I didn't know that card existed. It reminded me that I DEFINITELY need a Sword of the Animist in this deck.

I'm not a big fan of tapped lands in EDH, but the BFZ lands are probably a good inclusion. I think I'll sub out something like Rogue's Passage for the ramp land.

My concern with Khalni Heart was that it only generates mana if you already have lands. Maybe this isn't so bad since I have a lot of etb ramp and cantrip creatures and I'm going to be putting in some fetches.

The keywords to notice on Umbra Stalker are "your graveyard" it's not going to do anything in a tri color deck, it's not some secret meta counter to a friend running mono black cause it only gets more powerful based on only what you've got in the graveyard. In that color combo you're better off with Lord of Extinction which is cheaper and has a way better effect, even if it is just still a fat beat stick.

I like Umbra Stalker's art and effect hence why I want it in a deck, but it really just needs another effect or an evasion keyword like menace or fear or justify inclusion

that said, 34 is not an unreasonable number in general.

you could run low land count AND very little ramp/mana rocks, IF you meet 2 conditions: 1- your curve is very low, and 2-you run a lot of cantrips, cheap card draw effects, and ways to potentially tutor lands to hand

you can run low land count with a high curve as well, in that case you just need to make up for with a high amount of mana rocks and/or green ramp effects, that way the amount of "mana sources" (cards in your deck that make mana, even if its only by fetching something that does) you have is actually most likely higher than somebody running just your average 38 lands + a few ramp effects. and again lots of cheap cantrips and draw will help you hit those land drops

people do this so that they are less likely to flood out in a crucial mid-late game situation. in my azami deck for instance, i run only 4 mana rocks, strictly speaking (a couple mana doublers and cost reducers + solemn simulacrum rounds out my ramp section), and 34 lands, so the early game im definitely hungry for mana sources, but thats what i use most of my early game cantrips for, to find lands. and if i were to run like 38 lands, then in the mid to late game when im trying to combo off, and i have a bunch of wizards in play, every card i draw is important and i dont want a high chance of hitting a bunch of lands in a row

or conversely i want a high chance of hitting a bunch of spells in a row

the tribe's key mechanic is the issue, the cards are often well-designed to be strong, given that they must all share the 0-spells-transform-2-spells-transfrom thing

but that thing happens to be really bad outside of a few special situations, and its especially bad in edh where people play 2 spells per turn quite often

it happens to be pretty awesome in cube, occastionally though. besides triggering your werewolves yourself by not casting spells, theres a sweet 1-drop werewolf that you can play turn 1 on the play and if your opponent doesnt have a turn 1 play (they often wont, dpeending on matchup), you can swing for 3 on turn 2 with that 1 drop werewolf

Oh yeah, there's no cohesiveness. I tell you though, if Ulrich just had "Non-Human Werewolves you control cannot transform" on either side of his card, or "Werewolf spells you control have flash", he'd have been 100x better and the tribe could be usable. All it's lacking right now is
-specific tutors (allowing for lower Mana costs)
-better anthem effects
-ways to cheat Werewolves into play without casting spells

Sure, some stuff exists for these options currently, but they're all just good stuff. What we need is these effects either stapled to puppers or a cost decrease in exchange for the narrowness of werewolves. And the worst part, we're most likely not getting anything ever (or at least until we return to Innistrad for Emrakul, the Eons of bringing the same shit back 40 times)

I think one of the best is to wait for other players to build vendettas against each other. Say player X plays a card he obviously likes as in '' I built this deck so I could PLAY this card'' . If player Y instantly destroys it will make player X mad and he will play in an irrationally agressive manner againt that player. People play for different reasons but most multiplayer modes are more fun oriented than competitive. So people play for fun. If you ruin their fun. They hate you. Don't be the anti fun guy and wait for things to get awry between other players before you take advantage of the political climate bidding your time until it's personal between other players. People don't care that much about taking damage in magic as they care about their '' fun generating cards''. Be that A-hole that counterspells all the things or the removes all the fun from someone board. And ofc if you are the OBVIOUS threat and things aren't personal between other players you will become the target until things normalize.

Looking for some outside opinions on how I can upgrade my Bruna, Fading reanimator deck. All of its counterpart decks in my collection seem to have power-crept past it.

>cast traumatize on myself, put like 12 creatures in the grave, victimize for archeomancer (to get living death) and sepulchral primordial, get some fatties off others' graves, including a gruul ragebeast, use it to dominate the board
>maelstrom casts a kicked rite of replication on my primordial, steals all the best shit in my grave, tries to steal my ragebeast with my keiga, sac it in response
>exiles the rest of my grave with an angel he stole from another dude
>cast living death next turn, build a new grave by getting my creatures back there, he loses his creatures but gets gruul ragebeast back with some other fatties
>gruul ragebeast once again wipes the board with his fatty friends
>the friend playing my maelstrom deck is laughing his ass off because it is quickly becoming apparent that my 4.5 average cmc maelstrom deck does nothing except shit out gruul fatties and smash shit at warp speeds
>this shit goes on for like 5-6 more turns, everyone just fighting over to steal/reanimate my stuff or the maelstrom's stuff
>eventually get taken out by a malignus and the jeleva player who was struggling to get anything done all game because of the massive fatty war finally gets off a rise of the dark realms and wins

kinda bloggy but i thought it was kinda funny, it was one of the best games i've had ever. it was really enjoyable to see how two of my timmiest decks interacted with each other

I did some playtesting with my Ezuri deck last night. I had a good time! This is my first commander deck in like three years, so it feels good to get back into the swing of things.

I was VERY impressed with Lifecrafters Bestiary. Also Fathom Mage is pretty ridiculous. It might be better to have a Rystic Study in the sense that Fathom Mage makes you a gigantic target.

What is your opinion of Faerie Artisans?

I've played against it several times now and it seems busted in half. It's vulnerable to board wipes and removal, just like all other creatures. But if it lives a full turn cycle it accrues an impossible amount of value.

Its a straight upgrade to a different clone. You get a seperate body with the artisans and crazy etbs so its good.
