Ok, so. Here's my situation.

I am running an EOTE game for a few friends, and so far it's been your classical smuggling sort of business of dashing rogues and hard fights. They started out working for Jabba, but on good terms, sort of in the same sense of respect that Boba might have, but not quite that level. But still, Jabba respects them for their work and thinks they're useful so he'd rather keep them around. Their first session was them stealing the yacht he later uses in ROTJ, more of a gag thing to get the campaign going more than anything else.

Now, my players have started to become interested in joining the Rebellion, and are considering trying to cut their ties with Jabba. Now, Jabba likes them for what they're worth, but I made it abundantly clear that one does not simply leave Jabba's service if he wants to keep you. They have an idea of offering him a deal and a sort of "one mission to end all missions" John Wick style.

So what are some crazy, nigh-impossible shit that I can throw at my players to challenge them? I don't want to necessarily stop them from doing what they want, but at the same time I don't want them to get off easy.

Maybe have them take out another Hutt in a neighboring system for Jabba? One with all the similar equipment and protection and enforcers that Jabba has. They have to go up against all that and bring the house down, they maybe they can walk free. ...and maybe Jabba becomes worried about their ability to demolish another Hutt wholesale and sends another team of bounty hunters after them. Have them kill him and run, cutting ties and maybe a small group obligation for the whole process.

Just a thought, pulling shit out my ass honestly.
>>
>>51712092
>Have them kill him and run

You mean kill them, as in the hunters, right? Not actually killing Jabba?

Why is X-wing so slanted towards the Imperials?

They get the TIE swarm first. Then Phantoms and Decimators. Then a plethora of playable aces followed by Palpatine. And now they have x7 Defenders and just received Kylo Ren who looks to be one of the worst play experiences in the game to date.

>>
Reasonably, how long should it take to get a capital ship (silhouette 5 and up) to get from completely shut down, to airborne? assuming that the ship has the minimum crew necessary to accomplish this?

was wondering because I had an Idea for an AoR plot involving the Alliance liberating a number of old Clone Wars ships & other equipment that was effectively left in a field until the Empire could find something to do with them, and the PC's would need to stall Imperial forces until the Alliance to get all the ships away, just wanted a rough idea of how long they'd actually have to stall said imperial forces.
>>
>>51712359
A month probably longer.
>>
>>51712256
Imperial theme is action economy and maneuvering.

Rebels is regen and ordinance.

Scum is supposed to be clutch disposable upgrades and exploiting opportunities ( it's actually about abusing broken, unplaytested ships).

Rookies try to play the Empires game and fail. Just strap turrets/ regen on bulky fat ships that are hard to chew through and whittle them down like you're suppose to and they will try to earn their victory by actually playing the game and flying well.

Slicer gear, lockpicks, comlinks, glow rods, synthrope, tool kit, spare restraining bolt.

I also think grabbing the parts for a monotask droid to give you skilled assistance with something you have lots of green but no yellow for is pretty nice.
>>
>>51712359
>to get from completely shut down, to airborne?
How completely shut down are you talking about? Lacking crew, fuel, and launch codes; or fully stripped hulls?
>>
>>51712713
Oh so he's not retarded, just a prick.

Good to know.
>>
>>51712907
well, not fully stripped, a bit weathered, but still operational. Alliance will provide skeleton crews for all the ships, so that's not an issue.

so lets assume that they have slicers to bypass the launch codes given enough time, and they will bring with them enough fuel to get the ship's out of the system and to a "safe harbor" to fully stock them, right now it's just a matter of getting them away from this particular system.
>>
>>51712964
Who know, maybe by bullying you he'll keep you from making the same embarrassing mistake in the future!
>>
>>51713017
It doesn't work like that, it never works like that!
>>
>>51712256
To me, Kylo was just to give them incentive to be weened away from Palpatine.
It wont work, but it's nice in theory.

Kylo is only situationally powerful but in those situations he is much more valuable. The problem is people don't build lists to counter specific strategies, people refine for the best of all possible outcomes and Palpatine minimizes risk.
>>
>>51713003
It would almost certainly take days or weeks to get them back into condition to even lift off. Having the empire show up only a few minutes or hours before they're done is dramatically appropriate, though
>>
>>51713003
Well if you're just robbing ships from starport hangers expect an hour or so with launch codes and a skeleton crew to refuel the ships. Without launch codes and some seriously talented engineers about half a day to bypass the systems that have military grade encryptions.

I'd be more worried about the local garrison shooting the ships down with anti air emplacements that are supposed to have planned for this kind of raid to happen.

If your PCs are going to attempt a smash and grab raid have at least one session dedicated to scouting the spaceport, getting the launch codes, and sabotaging the AA otherwise I don't see any of those ships getting spaceborn before Imperial Star Destroyers show up.

How about something with more subtlety? Have the alliance skeleton crew pose as contractors that are supposed to be maintaining or mothballing the ships to infiltrate/as a cover for why they are working on a fleet of ships at the behest of some Imperial burecrat Planetary Governor or Moff.
>>
>>51713003

I mean, if nothing is broken - assume minutes or hours on a cold start. While as a space opera SW can be a little more pulpy you're still firing up power generators and engines and what not. Reactors will need to start generating power and build it up to the right level to actually turn all the parts on. If you don't mind a jury rig, you might say, dump the power which would normally go into shields or sensors or something into engines right from the start, but, y'know.

Days or weeks of prep time might be needed if things need fixing, fuel wasn't kept up, batteries lost charge, etc. You can probably cut time off the actual launching if during the recovery process stuff like backup power has been maintained, you've already pre-started the power supply just haven't fired everything up before, etc. In TFA the Falcon goes from a tarp covered freighter in a field to full throttle in a few minutes of time - but Unkar probably keeps the batteries and fuel tanks topped up whenever it needs work - and it's not as large as something like a Pelta or a Consular.

Depends how old and long its been there really.
Lot of boneyard vehicles tend to have a lot of their sensitive components taken out to be stored elsewhere to minimise the effects of the elements on them and leaving stuff plugged in has its own set of electrical-corrosion fuckery to contend with. So stuff like computers, life support, maybe even engines in some cases could be stuck in a warehouse somewhere that would mean major amounts of work.

Best plan would be a set of faked commissioning documents, uniforms, IDs and basically 'look like they should be there' -slicers and bullshit artists with lots of skulduggery are a must along with very good mechanics
Course, that leaves the violence careers, for them aside from picking up heavy things and putting them down again, if the enemy has some sort of explody distraction which draws them away from where you are, that might mean not being chased by TIE's or running into a customs vessel (or worse, the Imp Navy) in a flying shit heap that has fuck all crew and most of its stuff not working

Perhapse if they save jaba from some other hutt or an assasin from tyber zahn or something they can be granted one gift or something according their freedom.

You could keep the movie references running and have them perform the BIG one, the full load raw/uncut kessel run for jaba, even throw in that the "rockslug solo and his chutta wookie couldnt do this one, even with that ship of theirs" and its a great way to also create some imperial entanglments for them to use as credentials to get into the rebellion.

I dont know about your players to see if they would be up for that, but any hot shot correllian pilot with a chip on their shoulder is going to jump at a chance to beat the 'illustrious han solo, hero of the first deathstar'

Also there is the old fall back of: run like hell, and hope he never catches up with you.
>>
>>51712024
Send them on a crazy as fuck suicide mission, maybe kill another hutt like the other anon suggested.

They succeed, and now the entire Hutt society is after them... Except for Jabba, who offers to cover their tracks.
In exchange for a favor, of course.
You see where I'm going with this?

We're actually still in the discussion phase right now. Planning to try it out for the first time on Thursday. Also unclear if we should include Epic ships. On the one hand, a lot of us have them, and they're fun, but they might imbalance things in favor of whoever has them.
>>
>>51715384
So we're some kind of Suicide Squad?
>>
>>51715750
The way I heard it, not using huge ships tend to work out in peoples favor generally, although I don't have enough experience with Epic to confirm this.
>>
>>51713031
Naw, it works like that. That very reason is why I nevre make spelling or grammer mistake.
>>
>>51715803
From my experience with fullsize epic, they tend to speed things up immensely just because there's so many points, but also give a huge advantage to whoever has them because they're so powerful and can regen. Probably best to agree no epic unless both players bring one.

How about an HWK? You've already got Biggs to pull shots off it and using Jan to put Corran or Biggs to 4 attack or Kyle+Jan crew to hand Biggs evades is pretty great.

For Star Wars though, if you're not going orchestral, you've got to have that '70s vibe. Waaaaay more twang and swish. More Flash Gordon and less Top Gun.

Sup /swg/, I need help coming up with some ideas. I'm trying to write up a 6-10 player campaign that uses both Imperial Assault and X-wing rules. The players would join as either Empire, Rebels, or Scum, and it would be a persistent campaign with missions that give bonuses for future missions. I'd like to have it culminate in a massive Epic X-wing game.

I am out of ideas both for plot for this campaign, and mission ideas.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a plot that would make sense to have Empire fighting Rebels with Scum on both sides?

Has anyone ran a campaign like this before?
>>
>>51716414
FYI Battle Beyond the Stars in Seven Samurai in Space. It is unironically awesome, and deserves more than a roger corman budget.
>>
>>51718962
>Does anyone have any suggestions for a plot that would make sense to have Empire fighting Rebels with Scum on both sides?

Imperial weapons facility wants to launch new prototype weapon and is testing on the outer rim.

Rebels learn of this and want to foil it, both sides get help from rival cartels because they are low on manpower and it's easy to bribe them with the riches that the facility possesses
>>
>>51718962
Imps + Privateers versus Rebels + Smugglers Alliance
>>
>>51718962
There's tons of reasons for both sides of a conflict to hire scum/mercs.

Let's set this campaign in a single sector. A decently large one, with room to roam, but that keeps this idea working. I'll leave it up to you to figure out which one suits your preferences, but if I were you, I'd look for something that has noble houses.

The moff of this sector tries, he really does, but he's just not quite cut out for the Imperial style of governance. He inherited his position from his father when he passed, as head of his influential noble family. So he has wealth aplenty, but a few too many rebels have found his backwater an easy place to run and hide.

So now he's got a problem... and the solution is painfully clear. If his sector fleet can't handle it alone, he'll hire the mercenaries and Hutts and bounty hunters to add firepower to his arsenal.

Of course... once he starts doing that, it just ups the stakes for the rebels. And the easiest way to fight back? Make some high counter-offers for the best of the scum factions.
>>
>>51719127
Oh and the climax can be the Imperials getting ready to use the fully functional weapon and defending it against the Rebels, while the Rebels lead an assault.

Call me JJ and slap my ass, it's not original but it works.

X-Wing stats for Missile Boat
Attack: 1
Defense: 2
Hull: 3*
Shields: 6*

* Supposedly, the Missile Boat was armored only about as well as most TIE fighters, but had greater shield strength than a B-Wing

Actions: Focus, Target Lock, SLAM
Dial approximation: K-Wing

Slots: Missile, Missile, Missile, Torpedo, Title*

*Title: Jamming Beam(0 pts)
Once per round, when you acquire a target lock on an unstressed enemy ship, assign that ship a stress token.

Title: Tractor Array(2 pts)
Once per round, when you acquire a target lock on an enemy ship, assign that ship a tractor beam token.

Cost: 24 pts for generic PS2 option, 29 pts for Maraak Steel at PS7 with an Elite slot. Other pilots and abilities as needed

My difficulty is finding a scenario that

- Is appropriately sized so that it culminates in a ~750 point X-wing game, but still has Imperial Assault skirmishes

- Takes long enough to have a couple distinct missions for everyone and have a sense of progression

- still feature Scum/have a couple of missions that reward the winner with Scum support in a future mission.
>>
>>51719245
After the HWK, designers have said that any 1- die primary is a mistake. Go with 2 red.
>>
>>51719300
I originally thought of representing its huge capacity by giving it the option of infinite missiles, settling the 1-die primary issue, but that would take either a third title(locking you out of your support options), a unique modification(locking you out of guidance ships), or a Missile Boat-only direct upgrade to Extra Munitions. Making it 2 red dice would make it playable though, I guess.
>>
>>51719333
Another issue is that this thing is both

- Stapled to EM

- Needs FCS to keep fire up

- needs some way to discount missile costs to keep costs down. A ps2 missile boat costs 31 with Homing and EM, and that's fucking terrible. I would add a system, and either decrease the base cost drastically or reduce the cost of any equipped missiles.
>>
>>51719389
X-Wing is just not a friendly game to munitions heavy gameplay...
>>
>>51719275
1) IA will not have the scale you want no matter how hard you try. Keep those missions as lynchpins, important to how the bigger game plays out but intimate (like Cassian and Jyn's mission opposed to the people outside the base).

2) This just requires work on your side and being able to properly narrate the results of individual games

3) Scum have to pick a side, draw the line early on and stick to it. They can literally stand in for any Imperial or Rebel mission at your discretion.
>>
Hey /swg/, for those of you who play X-Wing and repaint models, have you ever considered putting little symbols under the cockpit for each kill that ship has gotten?

I haven't the money or friends in the hobby to play it, but that idea of painting the models with little TIE Fighter kill markers is oddly compelling to me.
>>
>>51719506
I figured that I would use IA missions for roughly 1/3rd of games, and they would be stuff like

- Rebel raid to sabotage a shipyard facility

Or the like.

I'm kinda new to Star Wars, so I'm wondering what kind of conflict would make sense to be mostly dogfights with intermittent ground skirmishes.
>>

This is a dopplenemesis. It steals your enemy and pretends to be them. It infiltrates your history. It invents fictitious conflicts, fights that never happened, brushes with death that didn't occur. It convinces others until your history and their history become intertwined.

And then, when you do eventually have a final showdown, they steal your identity and start the process all over with someone else. It's how they breed.

>>

You could always say that they're ships about to be moved from the mothball facilities to the breakdown station.

Sneak aboard as part of the final maintenance crews, engage in slicing and mechanics for those party members, sneaking sround the ship removing other groups by trickery or force, and then hyping out to a nearby system where the rebellion is waiting.

You grab a couple successfully, before the breakdown facilities hypercomm to ask where those cap ships they were expecting to work on today are.

Then they have to either cut losses and run with what they have, or go for the largest ship which took the longest to get ready - something really nice, a good sized CW capital to really incentivise them.

If they go for it, they'll have to be quicker about their theft, and then upon jumping to the rebellion support crews, they have only a very short time to get a crew aboard - the Imperial fleet arrived within 10 minutes, and the party and their new cap ship have to make a fighting retreat from an ISD2

So, one of my characters has a Blackmail obligation, surrounding her past. She was working for a corp, and working with a criminal organisation on the side, skimming money and funnelling it to the criminal organisation to make some extra cash. Eventually she tried to fuck over both the corp and the criminals at once, and made off with a lot of money. She fucked it up hard though, and was forced to flee, telling her family to do the same. The criminals tracked down most of her family and killed them. Her daughter is the only survivor, currently about 17 or 18. Last this character knew, the criminal organisation was trying to track down her daughter as a means of payback.

What interesting stuff can I do with this? I definitely want to throw a curveball at the player when the daughter inevitably enters the picture, but I'm not sure what specifically to do, figure you guys might have some ideas.

If it helps, some info about the PC in question; she's spiralled out of control since her life went to shit, taking on a hardcore Lesai addiction and losing most of her previously held morals. The group as a whole are working on building a criminal empire of their own on Nar Shaddaa, something she pushed them into pretty heavily, because she's become fixated on profit and success. She still very much cares about protecting her daughter, but has no real leads on where to find her; they severed communication intentionally, to protect her.
>>
>>51721521
I don't mind racing but the cables pulling the driver cockpit is retarded. Just use insane junkyard speeders and swoops strapped against a starship engine instead.
>>
>>51723467
It's meant to be like racing chariots and it's cool as fuck.
>>
>>51723494

>>
I see a lot of people resolving similar plots by having the daughter show up as a member of the organisation that was hunting her. Might be a little predictable and cheesy, though.
>>
>>51723371
The daughter should definitely be disgusted with what her mother has become if she's spiralled out as badly as you say. No lovey dovey reunion here.
>>
>>51723620
You're boring.
>>
>>51723709

Nah, the daughter went and joined up with the Empire, sickened by the criminal life her mother lead.

She's currently training in Intelligence, with a focus towards anti-crime work in the core out to midrim
>>
>>51723751
This has potential. Joining up with the Empire would be a solid way to shake criminals off your tail, too.
>>
>>51723870
>shake criminals off your tail
For minor criminal organizations, maybe. If it's Black Sun or a bigwig hunter like Boba Fett, the Empire may end up turning a blind eye. Imperial officials in Hutt space also tend to be in the Hutts' pockets.
>>
>>51723870
Yeah, exactly. Plus, if they do eventually sniff you out and come for you, you're training on a fucking bastion world of imperial troops.

Probably a good way to stay safe if youre hiding from the average cartel - hutts or Xizor wont give a shit though.

Sadly with the daughter's age, its pretty much impossible for her to be an officer or someone in a position of actual threat, but the player could discover their daughter, try to 'rescue' her, and then be turned in instead.
>>
>>51723954
Yeah, the age makes it tricky for me to do anything too dramatic, unfortunately. Still, I like the idea of staging a rescue, it's absolutely something I could see the PC doing, she's a total hothead at this point. Being addicted to space Speed will do that.
>>
>>51723620
Chariots are actual racing vehicles.
>>
>>51723990
Maybe have her dating an older man, a badass Imperial officer, because she feels relatively safe with him. That could cause some serious complications if he has connections. It could also put her in Imperial military base housing.
>>
I just started playing x-wing and need help from some veterans: am I able to use the the T-65 x wing pilots (Biggs, Luke, Wedge, etc) in the new T-70 model or do they have to be used in the T-65?
>>
>>51725537
Pilots are stuck to their ships, sorry.
>>
>>51725587
That sucks, thanks anon
>>
>>51723371

Maybe even worse, the corporation or criminal organization could see that the daughter has her mother's skills, and ask her to join. Or demand her to join to make up for her mother's failings. They could try breeding more loyalty in her, and the daughter could hate her mom for putting her into this situation in the first place.

If you want to slap the mother character, have a corp/criminal death squad come looking for her. And it's led by her daughter.
>>
>>51723371

Okay then, Blackmail is only good as an obligation if, you know, actual blackmail happens.

Have the PC discover that her daughter has settled down somewhere, in a relatively secure position, found love, a good job, whatever. Make it clear that this girl has overcome the setbacks of her earlier life, and is on a path to great things.

Of course, the method by which the PC discovers all this is by receiving a message from someone who has joined the dots up.

The demand is simple. Payment for silence.
>>
>>51726320

To build on this; at first, the demand is in credits. They begin to escalate, however, with requests for rare commodities, information, favours, each one accompanied by updates on how the daughter is doing.

Make the threat explicit; any attempt to trace the blackmailer will be met with the daughter's new identity and location being fed to the criminal syndicates who would like nothing more than to finish the job.

This does not preclude the players attempting to identify the blackmailer, but they have to play a very dangerous game with intermediaries and brokers, never making a move directly.

For DMs of the FFG RPG, how do you justify melee attacks killing multiple members of a minion group if they arnt in range? Ie, a wookie chopping a stormtrooper in half but the other member of his minion group is well out of range. Do you house rule it out or is there another solution? What I have been doing is still calculating the damage into the groups HP but only allowing one kill.
>>
>>51711855
Why doesn't the empire use Mandos for it's forces?
>>
>>51732150
Clearly the other two Stormtroopers rush forward one at a time to fight the hero in close combat only to be cut down in turn. Just think about how a movie would do it and you'll be fine.
>>
>>51732150
I typically don't separate individual minions between rangebands.
>>
>>51732150
I never have minion groups too far apart. Short range from each other is easy to justify narratively, if you remember each check is meant to represent multiple attacks rather than just one swing of an axe.
>>
>>51732157
Because mandos aren't loyal to the empire.

I am in the planning / research phase of a Star Wars D20 game set during the height of the Galactic Civil War.

The players are starting out on a smuggler vessel headed for tatooine, and must get in good with one of the crime lords in order to sell a huge shipment of sliced weapons that don't rightly conform to Imperial Standards. The shipment itself is worth 250,000 credits, and the players are level 1. There are three of them, so I plan on rewarding them with 50,000 credits (plus whatever they make from selling loot). Presumably, they'll buy their own ship with this money.

Is this too high of a reward? I'm expecting the players to be level 4 before they gain an audience with Lady Valarian or one of Jabba's cousins.

Minions aren't in a group if they're far enough apart a huge wookie couldn't get a swing in and clobber both, or send his buddy toppling into him or blind him with the blood or whatever.

If it would take a maneuver for a minion to be in the same spot as his buddy, they probably shouldn't be counted as grouped up.

This whole page is painfully out of date. So in my FaD campaign, the Imperials are en route to Corellia to destroy it with the Death Star because of an insurrection in true Corellian fashion. Chandrila and Mon Cala have already been destroyed, so the Rebellion is on the verge of collapse, and if Corellia dies, it does too. They managed to recover R2-D2, who was set to be scrapped after the capture of Luke's X-Wing after the Battle of Yavin, but even with the Death Star plans, they can't attempt the tench run again because the Imperials were quick to rectify that flaw it its design. The Rebellion is throwing everything it has at this, and I asked my players what they planned to do. One of them, who plays a Corellian, suggested OCC that they use Centerpoint Station to either tractor the Death Star out of range of Corellia, or just destroy it with Centerpoint itself.

I am not sure if I should allow this absurd idea to happen. Were Corellians even aware that Centerpoint could be used as a giant tractor beam before the Corellian Crisis?

Hey /swg/, I've just started running an EotE game, but I've noticed that a lot of the vehicle profiles are... weird. Stuff like the Speeder Bike and the Snow Speeder both being Silhouette 2 when I feel like they really should be 1 and 3 respectively (there are plenty of other ships with bizarre stats), and then there's certain ships whose price seems entirely out of line, capital ships that cost less than expensive starfighters, etc.

Has anyone actually bothered to go through and errata all the ships in the books or present them in some easily searchable document?

My favorite part of that comic is the fact that just before that happens, it is established that the Emperor has reigned over five years of peace since the defeat of the Rebels at Yavin 4. Peoples lives are probably pretty good, or at least better than they were during the age of rebellion. And Yoda just takes control over the entire Death Star, starts blasting the entire Imperial fleet in orbit, and then crashes the whole thing into the Imperial Palace just to kill the Emperor. And every living thing on the planet, presumably. If people didn't believe that the Jedi were terrorists bent on bringing ruin to the galaxy, they sure as hell do now.

Also, the cavalier attitude Han has towards the destruction of the most populated planet in the galaxy. Nothing in that entire page makes any fucking sense.

You could also give Fate Core a try. It's completely free, in my opinion, quite good. http://www.evilhat.com/home/fate-core/

It's much more of a narrative- or theme-based game, so if you get your joys from minmaxing and gear-tweaking, this is not the system for you.

On the other hand, it keeps Force users from being dominating and it almost completely eliminates optimal builds and min-maxing.

My group's next X-Wing Epic Scenario: Assault On Coruscant

The game is played on two tables, one in atmosphere and one out of atmosphere. Each side begins with 200 points per table. In addition, the Imperial side receives one Emperor Palpatine upgrade for free, and MUST put it aboard one of its Large or Huge ships. This ship must start on the in-atmosphere table.

In the center of both tables is a "Shield Gate", a circle range 2 in radius. Any ship which is wholly inside the Shield Gate after it performs a maneuver may spend a focus token to switch to the other table. It appears placed anywhere in the shield gate. Bombs may not be placed in the shield gate. The first time Emperor Palpatine's ship transfers through the shield gate, it recovers all its shields, all its damage cards are discarded, and all its facedown upgrade and ship half cards are flipped face up.

The Imperial side must maneuver Emperor Palpatine from the in-atmosphere table to the out-of-atmosphere table, then to any table edge. If Palpatine's ship reaches the edge of the table, he has escaped and the Empire is gains five Victory Points. If he is killed, the Rebels gain five Victory Points instead. In either case, the game ends when Emperor Palpatine has left the table.

Victory Points can also be earned through completing objectives, rolled on the Objective list below. Whichever side has the most victory points when the game ends is the winner.

Victory points can also be spent to call in Reinforcements; one victory point can be spent to call in a squadron of 75 build points worth. This squadron should, ideally, be played by a newcomer to the game. If two victory points are spent at once, the reinforcements are up to 150 build points and up to 3 epic points. Keep in mind, points spent on reinforcements don't count towards your total in the end.

D20 does sort of lock itself into that mechanic of being a simulation by being highly dependant on the numbers, range, size etc
D6 I guess has a bit more room to fudge stuff, though funnily enough I actually found the D20 system to be a little more solid for handling ship combat and I found that easier than either FFG or D6- just a pity the rest of it drove me mad and it felt like a job more than a hobby!

Depends. How much does she know about the Jedi?

Droids, or part-droids, are a good bet. Something about becoming "more machine than man" seems to squick the Jedi out. Rewire some brains and make them tough to confuse.

Flametroopers are good. The Jedi might be able to shove the flames back, but they usually can't block blaster fire or dodge grenades at the sam time.

Suicide droids mess with a Jedi's training. Chop them apart and they explode. Toss them away and they roll right back at you.

You'll want a rapid response team ready to immediately pursue the Jedi if they flee in an unexpected direction, and teams set up in all the expected directions. Trackers are useful. So are mercenaries, especially if the Jedi just finished escaping Stormtroopers. They won't be looking for the three-headed guy in a muumuu. That split second of hesitation is all you need to gun them down.

So... we've got my character, who's one of the twin daughters of an Imperial family who jumped ship on the way to academy to join the Rebellion because she was tired of mom and dad running her life and also wasn't into star destroyers landing on innocent protesters. Also trying to escape the stigma of being a rich girl playing at pilots.

The command of our new squadron, an ex-Imperial pilot dealing with her past and struggling at being the most experienced fighter pilot in the bunch despite not actually being that experienced.

The XO, a traumatized bird alien who lost his old squadron in an Imperial ambush.

A friendly zabrak pilot who seems to have a smile and a wink for everyone he meets.

A Chadra-fan who is the groups old lady at age 30.

A pantoran pilot who's dealing with the trauma of having her parents disappeared by the ISB just before she was recruited by her aunt into the Rebellion.

A veteran pilot from the Clone Wars who's more machine than man.

A lanky beanpole of a togruta who's the tallest in the squadron at six feet. Continually happy and upbeat no matter the situation.

I think that's all our Rebels.

>Is everyone the pilot spec or is it a mix with piloting (space) as a career skill added or some other setup? Don't mean to pepper you too much but am egging on for a similar campaign so am interested.

These are very rough and are mostly based on my character's impressions of the others since I haven't read everyone's backstory too closely, so I'm sure the others are all plenty neat, I'm just being rather sparse.

I think most everyone is in a piloting career.

I will try to summarize what's happened so far.

The part is on Yavin IV, an indeterminate amount of time before Scarif and the Death Star makes everyone absolutely miserable. Most of the squadron is arriving today, having been sent here or reassigned from other bases.

Oh yeah, forgot there's an old pit droid that serves as our maintenance crew.

And I think a second chadra-fan? I'm not clear exactly on the species the other short pilot is supposed to be, because they don't post a lot.

Anyway, the new pilots have mostly arrived and been sent to their new barracks to meet their new squadmates and get settled in. After a conflict of personalities with her current squadron, my character is reassigned to the new squadron and goes to make friends. Everything goes pretty smoothly, next thing you know it's morning and time for shitty caf and rations. Unfortunately, the breakfast table proves to be volatile as the Pantoran pilot lets loose her hatred of the Imps and my character tries to defend her family, even if she disagrees with them they're not bad people, after all. The argument is broken up when the new CO and XO arrive and order everyone to meet them at the sims in an hour because we're spending all day in there getting evaluated. We do some rolls, get some sim time, and then ump out to hear how we did and get assigned wing pairs, which is where we are now, getting chewed out for doing not so great in the sims.

Outside the sims, birb XO and the CO argue about training techniques. He wants to throw us into the mixer getting vaped by experienced pilots to show us that death is a real possibility, while she wants to make sure that we can fly in formation and know tactics. She wins, being the CO, though he manages to get his technique in for the first day of training.

Oh yeah, did I mention that we have to be ready to go live in a week when we're being sent to attack an Imperial station?

Yeah, the weapon isn't my favorite. But the armor is great, so it almost balances out.

It is supposed to depict a different culture within the Galaxy Far, Far Away. It's a slightly more Asian-inspired design.

Otherwise, it fits right in. It's got a little Two-Tubes. The staff-thing looks fine. The only thing is the kimono or whatever you'd call it, and I don't think that's particularly glaring. There's tons of room in Star Wars for things we've not seen yet.

Anyway, more.

I'm a fan of heavy armour personally, that kind that actually looks like it could take a proper beating cough cough Mandalorians cough cough splutter rather than something that is literally just a breastplate, kneepads and a pair o' spaulders.

Hey /swg/, my GM needs help knowing what to do about a certain Obligation one of our players took.

She took the Oath Obligation, and it's an oath to help out the third player in our group. The 3rd player freed the Oath char from slavery, and I see it being very similar to the Wookie life-debt. My GM has the EotE beginner box and I referred him to looking at the wookie there, since he has the Oath obligation too.

But the main thing is when my GM rolls for Obligation, and lands on the Oath char, what would happen exactly? Her obligation feels more like a roleplaying aspect that's always hanging over her, whether her obligation is the one rolled for in the session or not. It's not like having a debt to a Hutt, and rolling that debt has the Hutt calling in for some repayment. Does anyone have any good examples, or ideas of how an Oath can affect a session? Thanks in advance!

I'd personally make it trigger the other character's Obligation, or explain the problem and ask the player to change their obligation. A life-dept seems more like a Motivation than an Obligation personally.

It depends on the person who you are obligated too. Having the obligation be tied to another player complicates things a little. Had it been to an npc you could have when the obligation roled that the npc calls the player up and needs a favor from them. Maybe the npc was captured and needs rescuing or maybe they want money.

Maybe have it so that that character has to either find a way to get out of the Oath, or go about trying to fix 3rd player's obligation, possibly without telling them.

My players are now around 180-200ish exp for the FFG Rpg, one player is making a new character and is a Jedi. Is that exp band a high enough level to let them start with a lightsaber? I feel like it should be okay, especially considering everyone else has decently modded weapons at this point.

That character is either bothered by their Oath - perhaps 3rd player has done something that she cannot agree with morally, but goes along with due to the oath and this causes her a bit of anguish.

Or, she just tiries to work towards that character's obligation - possibly without their permission, and possibly causing more trouble for them if it goes wrong

IIRC 150 exp earned in play is Knight level and it is recommended that if you start there to give your force users sabers.

I like this setup for a bounty hunter. Solid all-round armor, a personal energy shield, a ACP repeater and your standard issue survival vibroknife. No fancy integrated gadgets or gizmos, just simple tools of the trade and whole lot of walking and talking to get the job done
