It isn't far more interesting. Necrons were the army I stuck with the longest when I was a teenager, and the "mindless soul-harvesting killing machines" got boring fast. As survivable as they were, you could memorize the codex in a few hours they had so few options, and after the 30th game of Warriors, Lord, Destroyers, Monolith, you wanted to hang yourself.

And am debating if I want to build Space Wolves, normal (Salamander) Marines, Grey Knights, a mix of all three of those plus Imperial Agents support or Genestealer Cults.
