Not sure who.was more autistic in this situation, and to be fair I wasn't even playing, but there was a game happening next to me at my college's club where one guy was playing his Meren deck. He got a creature back but apparently forgot to tell the table which one. Another player called him out on it (this guy tends to be a total tool, so I place most of the autism on him), but the Meren guy flips out and is adamant he told people, accuses the table of gaslighting him, etc etc. The president of the club had to talk to both players separately.

1) The Partners are inherently weaker than a 'normal' Legendary would be, because of having access to two of them. That means none of them are worth a shit in the 99, because if you're not using them as a Partner, it's like running Kemba with no Equipment.

2) The abilities are, for the most part, incredibly boring and underwhelming. None of them really 'wow', and a lot of them just feel like exceedingly bad versions of existing cards, rather than something new.

3) Very few of the Partner combinations really 'interact' well, so while there might be some hundred combinations, most of those combinations give you either 2 or 3 colors and a 'strategy' that's better accomplished by existing choices.

4) Rather than being the selling point of the product, Partner felt like... well, exactly what it was: A half-assed attempt to make "four color" commanders by moving the goalposts. If Partner had been -the- point of this set, it wouldn't have been as hated, I'd wager; as it stands, it really came across as "We promised you 4 color commanders, but we couldn't figure that out, so instead here's a bunch of shitty 2 color commanders you can staple together".

5) Putting the names of characters fans have waited for (like Ludevic) on top of this poorly-designed, bottom-up shitpile was a slap in the face. They tease Ludevic for 5 sets as some kind of mad necro-alchemist (and possibly the best contender for a UBRG card)... and then we get a shitty Edric.

I run Reyhan / Thrasios, and find 'em to have pretty okay synergy. Reyhan makes counters stay in and move around, giving all my dudes a lot more value, and Thrasios is blue. You could run obstinate abzan woman + fuckboi of athreos to make a funky machine where you constantly sac creatures who naturally enter having +1/+1 s, and recur 'em, I guess?

This was in like, 2009, so how it worked out was "I picked one of my legendary creatures and jammed all the best cards I owned in those colors into a pile, and everyone else did the same thing".

Over a few years it developed into what my friends called "Thousand Dollar Goodstuff" because it didn't really have a theme or synergy, it was just good expensive cards. That's why I reworked it.

here's why i think its bad:

grouphug-howling mine cards are usually unplayable for most decks, because giving your opponents cards is that bad, and the only decks that can make use of howling mine cards are ones that benefit so greatly from the consistent extra card its worth giving your opponents an extra

so given that, ludevic is actually the worst ever howling effect, because its much easier for your opponents to consistently trigger the draw effect than it is for you to consistently trigger it. so its basically all the downsides of a howling mine but makes you jump through hoops to get the benefits of it

i can see why you think its similar to edric, but its really not in an actual game situation

you play edric to massively outdraw your opponents with a small creatures strategy. for ludevic, there is no way to build the deck to make it so you draw more than your opponents, at best you can build an awful aggro deck that consistently triggers the draw for you, but that would be awful because the last thing an aggro deck wants is to give the durdly decks more card draw

pick on or two cards from your cute pile and cut the rest. If you still have cards you need to cut cut your worst stuff from the Goodstuff pile until you hit 99

I think I've got everything down except for a couple utility cards. I want to include madblind mountain, artifact blast, smelt, cold storage, and burnout but I don't really want to cut what I already have. pretty solid, I would cut Daxos, he does nothing. Could use Pongify, Rapid Hybridization, and Ixidron. I would also consider Propoganda, Ghostly Prison, Windborn Muse, Darksteel Mutation, Silent Arbiter, Norn's Annex, and Sphere of Safety, hell maybe even Magus of the Moat since you're gonna be getting a pretty big target on your head with all that pillowfort.

Campaign of Vengeance and Cliffhaven Vampire seem the worst of that list, but the rest are good and actually pretty fine. The first two strike me as pretty decent if maybe niche cards. Murder is solid no fucking around creature removal, Graf Harvest seems great for zombies and Complete Disregard seems like it'd be useful for a few pesky low-cost threats. Don't sweat it too hard.

How do I make Edric Flying Men a little less aggro and a little more midrangey? My playgroup favors longer games and I'd like to make the deck a bit more resilient. How do the usual Elfball decks bounce back after boardwipes and shit like that?

There's a bunch of good commons/uncommons.

And being common doesn't mean bad. Lightning Bolt, Ponder, Preordain, Brainstorm, Counterspell, Force Spike, Spell Pierce, Hydro/Pyroblast, the elf mana dorks. Plenty of good common cards. Common rarity lacks good creature threats usually, but control options are really good. And you get into uncommon? Shit, you get Force of Will and Mana Drain, spectral procession, Path to Exile, Swords to Plowshares, Bloodbraid Elf, and most recently fatal push.

You get good cards at those rarities. You just need to look through a lot of chaff to find them.

Your normally try and win before people get into a position to boardwipe. Or you ramp hard into something that protects your guys. I run Freyalise elfball so It's not exactly the same as Edric, but I try and shit out a bunch of elves, then refill my hand. Don't overextend if people are acting smug. Get your card draw, and hold back some of your creatures to bait out the boardwipe.

Does /edh/ have any suggestions? The idea is to lay low and gain some life with low priority defensive creatures until I can bring out Doran or Assault Formation and start pumping out real offensive damage. Either that or Aetherflux Resevoir.

I've played a few rounds with my playgroup and it's done pretty well. With the partners being the commanders though it tends to be a little slow. What do you guys think?

Expropriate

A friend of mine plays it in his Yidris deck. His turns already take up too much time, There's no way I'm going to sit and wait for him to finish his extra turns from expropriate, especially since he has so many other extra turn cards in his deck. Once it goes off he ends up playing solitaire for 30 minutes or more.

I've heard of soul sisters and suicide builds that try to go as wide as possible and do damage to itself often to barf out a fuckload of tokens and gain the life back immediately.

I thought of making this bitch, but I'm making Yidris instead I think. I have her as foil and some good cards with her, such as the ogre guy that gives counters and draws with Ferocius. I can't decide if I should scrap Yidris and build her instead. She's waifu material and stealing is probably one of my favorite things in MtG.
She's just not as powerful and lacks black

Everything enters play at the same time, then triggereed abilities would stack in turn order, and then resolve in the opposite order. So, Primus' triggered ability would be put on the stack targeting Omniscience. The SnT guy would be able to cast whatever sort of instants he wanted for free in response to the trigger, though.

I realize what it does, but it might be a meta dependant thing. If I would have hexproof, then it would be useful in my meta, but usually troublesome permanents are countered anyway, so it wouldn't do anything.
I play in heavily combo-oriented meta, so it might explain things.

when i first learned how to play magic, my friend had an emracool deck. every game would just be him making spawns and tutoring till he dropped emrakul and just ran you over with him. i tried so god damn many ways of fighting it and you just fuckin cant. my only saving grace was that i got a karn liberated like a year later and would use him to fight the the big scary eldrazi.

My meta is full of artifacts and enchantments, so those wipes are most common and even armageddons are more common than wraths.
Again, I don't see the value, because I'm pretty much only one who plays nonblue combo and most threats are countered. It's a good card sure, but It doesn't feel as useful. Besides, only deck I would run it in, would be my Hanna stax, but it doesn't fit the colours.

Looking for ideas for wincons for a Rubinia deck. EDHREC is giving me fuck all for ideas and no one seems to know what to do with this commander other than cloudshift.

Tried taking a page of Angus decks but they normally rely on superfriends as a wincon which I think is not very good in a non-Atraxa deck since you need doubling season or deepglow skate to really make the walkers shine.
