Well, Jack is adaptable; his martial training is very broad, and can pick up just about anything from the battlefield and use it to gain an advantage.

So a system like D&D doesn't model that well, even if you're a swordsage with floating feats or whatnot. You'd want something like FATE Aspects or Exalted Stunts to replicate his fights properly.

I sincerely hope it went dark, but the show itself will be about climbing back out of that hole of despair with the help of everyone he's helped out in the past, and finally defeating Aku.

Of course, if he beats Aku in the future and travels back to the past to kill him again, all his friends in the future would cease to exist. Those people deserve the world they fought so hard to free and I'm not sure that Jack is willing to sacrifice his fellows for that.

Ideally he becomes King of the future, much like the champions who defeated the primordial darkness that was the progenitor of Aku. Of course, there's still the time gate guarded by the sunglasses robot guy. I imagine he could use that to travel back in time to see all his eons-lost family and friends one last time, to give them the certainty that Aku will be defeated and that all their hopes will not be for nothing.

The sword is a +6 Holy Axiomatic Keen Evil Outsider Bane Adamantine Bastard Sword, flavored by both player and GM as a katana. You may be thinking, "wait a minute, that's a +12 enhancement bonus, and magic weapons can't exceed +10!" but you're forgetting that it's an artifact. Compare it to the Sword of Kas (+6 Unholy Keen Vorpal, and it grants +10 Str).

I always thought that the rare occasion Jack discovered a pristine untouched scottish village/old japanese house with a ghost these were bastions of humanity that were abandoned and/or ignored by the corruption brought upon the world. It makes sense that if the Scotsmans' tribe can stay at home, cut themselves off from the outside world, and never acquire any sort of fantastic technologies or shit like that then Aku is going to pretty much ignore them. Genndy isn't above making an entire episode that appears to be in ancient japan for the sake of art - just look at the 4 seasons of death episode - no dialogue, just beautiful scenery for Jack to walk through.
