No, he's a good example where no matter how terrible you make a character, as long as he's the strongest people will like him.

He's low int, low wis, low cha, is generally unlikable and unsympathetic, and has no real character beyond being cliche when trying to act consciously but unconsciously subverting expectations.

i really can't argue with this and i liked the show. He even mentions it himself that he feels very little and hardly has any cares.

Its almost sociopathic really. There is no reason for him to not just destroy the planet. He only continues down the path he originally set because thats the path he originally set, he has no goals or ambiton or motive.

Imagine if he had decided to be a villian for fun?

Sherlock Holmes is high Int, low Wis.

Doctor Watson is low Int, high Wis.
>>
>>51646392
I also liked the show, but it's important to recognize that it's a very experimental work and is willing to satirically explore the shonen genre, and raise questions like "Just how important is a character's strength to how much he appeals to people?"
>>

Watson is meant to be as smart as the average reader.

Holmes is low Wis, brah. I know you probably like him and adore him, but he's a textbook high Int, low Wis character. The character who does things because it's fun and because he can, without thinking of consequences.
>>
>>51646468

Why do you think that?

I mean, he's a bit slow in some of the adaptations. But in the originals, Watson is a military doctor. He's not a min-maxed freak like Holmes, but he's above average in pretty much everything.

>>
>>51646679
That's not sexist. Men's intelligence usually falls on either end of the extreme, while most women are in the middle.

Which is why you get the stereotype of either the "Big Buff Stupid Guy" or "The Super Smart Nerd Guy" but the only stereotype for women is "Dumb Blonde Bitch". Most women are average, but that's just not a fun stereotype.

>>
>>51646602
None of those are true of Conan Doyle's Holmes. ACD's Holmes takes cocaine when he is not engaged upon a case because he craves stimulation. He infiltrates an opium den, but never takes opium (and it wouldn't make sense for him to do so, considering why he takes cocaine; he craves stimulation, not soporifics).

ACD's Holmes is a fairly adept student of human behaviour and, while eccentric and sometimes boorish, isn't a rude jerk ala Gregory House, slightly deranged ala Downey Junior's Holmes or on-the-spectrum like Cumberbatch's Sherlock.
>>
>>51646239
No, they think they do, but they mistake a 13 for good.
>>
>>51646845

Women have always been more emotionally motivated.

Don't call it a bell curve when really it is just then wanting to perceive with emotions when perceiving with logic is the correct response.

There is a reason why Greek parliament was reserved for men.
>>
>>51646827
It's not so much the tedium of it, it's just more difficult for women to do physically and our brains (male and female) hate doing difficult shit. That, and men are far more inclined to work in every aspect than women are, from an evolutionary standpoint.

Women are often seen as more emotional because our hormone swings are far more common and extreme than men's, and our emotional strength is not as great. The part of the brain that deals with emotion (in regard to thought process) is also larger in women than in men. Literally MORE OF OUR BRAINPOWER is based off of emotion, physically.
>>
>>51646877
Something tells me you don't understand what a bell curve represents.
>>
>>51646877
I don't buy the logic x emotion duality, though. In fact, I don't buy dualities in general since I believe in the empty center.
>>
>>51646904
>>51646877
>Don't call it a bell curve when really it is just then wanting to perceive with emotions when perceiving with logic is the correct response.

Most measurements of intelligence use methods which are harder for women than for men (I think, I could be remembering completely wrong).

As Willpower is often wisdom based (for some reason) then he must have a pretty high wisdom. His defining characteristic is probably ennui. But as the story continues he seems to be coming out of it through that power of friendship.

Have you only watched the Moffat show? Holmes isn't a high-functioning sociopath in the original stories. He's very empathetic.
>>
>>51646922

>>

By leaving she not only split our families apart (that side never speaks to me now), but my sister fucked off and has been doing drugs and shit, dating a guy older than our dad and three times her age. Despite all that, my dad's bent himself over backward to try and bring her back, to the point that his health is now shit and he's dying. mh. that implies that rules design is int, while writing lore is purely wisdom, when in reality it's both for both.
Rules are not just about math, it's about creating an experience. You want excitement and suspense in there along with balance.
And writing lore has to be logically consistent with itself and the setting and well researched, which I'd say is the int part, while getting the feel of the setting and hitting the right notes to provoke the emotional response and writing believable characters needs wisdom.

No, this was a gourp of people living in a trailer park who thought they were native american shamans. My mother thought she could literally heal people by touching them, and I'm pretty sure half the men in the group were closet(?) pedophiles. They had no idea what actual native american beliefs or rituals are, they just go to "sweat lodge" literally every week and "commune with nature" or some shit by walking around their yard. Completely fucking clueless.

I think the worst part is that my mother is literally PART NATIVE AMERICAN, and my father and I are friends with HOPI INDIANS. Like, legit ones. We helped a friend move to New Mexico and on the way back we got lost- the elder of the tribe let us stay at his house for a day and we all had a good time, they INSISTED on us staying longer and coming back.

body building -> +a minor amount of CHA, what ever bonuses can be gotten/ applied from "aesthetic beauty"

bodybuilders, like for a mr universe or whatever, are more than likely stronger than the average person, one who doesn't do any working out, except when in competition season, when that extreme vascularity is a result of dehydration
stronglifters, like caber tossers or olympic weightlifter, are stronger than either a normie or bodybuilder

sure, annabolics and the extreme supplements are likely to have detrimental effects on the body, esp. long term, but don't drag others down to your level just because you've never lifted a weight or a leg

You know there is a point where you're just being an asshole. Hating 'autists' doesn't change the fact that study after study shows they tend to actually be very intelligent.

"being smart" = effort
People may be born with a high capacity for knowledge or whatever your definition for intelligence is, but every person recognizable as a genius put in a lot of work.

High int, low wis would be like most scientists. They constantly ask themselves "can I" and never ask "should I". They race towards extinction with ever more powerful weapons and smarter A.I.

High wis, low int would be Forest Gump. He's not super sharp but he has a ridiculous amount of life experience to draw wisdom from.

Fucking this.
I'm a woman and every woman I know is lazy as fuck.
Intelligence is a talent just like anything else - if you work at it, you improve it, if you neglect it, you lose it.

This is why feminists piss me off so much - they're self-defeating! If you want women babied and catered to at every turn, you're actively making them dumber and lazier than they already are.

I'll say it again - women are lazy. We like easy things. We do not, as a general rule, have the same drive that men have. We are not competitive. That is not sexism, it's biology and evolution.

Rant over.

No he's not, you ignorant fuck. In adaptations he's an idiot, but in the book he's a suave, intelligent ladies man. He was Doyle's self-insert character.

I was referring to the fact that he didn't think women who put a lot of effort into something were smart. So your post seems only tangentially related, but whatever. You do you, I guess.

I've been contemplating this for some time, as I'm trying to make a half orc who is raised as a nobleman/wealthy man's bastard. So he wants to be that Indiana Jones type Ranger and so studies up a lot on History and potentially Nature, but due to his orcish blood, he just can't seem to apply it properly to deduce/infer things than better Explorers/Rangers. I GUESS that's high Int, low Wis?

I disagree. Autists are more like characters who had all their skill points put into a small handful of completely random skills. They can be dumb as a goddamn post, but be really good at playing piano, calculus, and Super Metroid. Because of this hyper-focus on random garbage skills, all their other skills suffer, but their huge skill bonuses to those things drastically outweighs their low mental ability scores. It's like a case of overspecialization, but you don't get to decide what your specialty is.

That's funny, because the "smartest" men I know are also the most dedicated to their craft.

It's the losers sitting around talking about how they slept through highschool because it was too easy for them failing fucking undergrad gened because they've got zero work ethic and they absolutely fell for the Big Fish/Small Pond dichotomy, and didn't even recognize it.

Every recognized genius has absolutely lived their craft. I dare you to find a single note-worthy individual of any discipline that hasn't made that discipline a way of life for themselves. You will not find a single example of a prodigy, Great, or other note-worthy person who one day lackadaisically fell assbackwards into prominence while scoffing at how easy it was to immediately be successful at what they did.

I do not remember which mathematician / philosopher this refered to, but it's pretty famous, which means, most likely bollocks but inspired on a true tale.
>People say that this guy was looking at the stars trying to guess why they moved the way they did and reaches the conclusion that earth isn't entirely round or something, just by comparing the horizon with the constelations or some shit.

>So he's going for the city council as fast as he can to show Pericles that his discovery was the fucking shit and that, by using the stars as a point of reference, he could basically correct maps like it was nobody's business (at least that's what I remember), but while doing so, he's all the time looking up and giggling like a madman. So there goes this nigga all speed up and no common sense at all.

>While passing in front of his own house at high speed, one of his maids, or people he hires to clean his shit tries vehemently to tell him that the well is fucking open and directly in his way, which predictably ends up in him going nose down the fucking well, which luckily wasn't dry, so he survived with a few broken bones and a big gash in his pride. The neighbors found out because the basic female dog laughed her ass off as she half tried to help him climb out. To the point where this anecdote is what he's remembered for.

That's an example of high Int and low Wis for obvious reasons, someone who looks too far ahead (despite warnings and in more than one ocassion) that becomes unable to see what's in front of them.

Conversely, an example of extremely high wisdom but low intelligence would be like this guy who basically adviced not to let the trojan horse into the gates, and he even poked the horse a few times, but when asked why he could only point as his own suspiciousness (therefore nobody paid attention to him), and you all know what happened next.
