Just make sure the race is definitively unattractive. Specify that the generations of magical mingling and interbreeding that led to their creation makes them appear more like monsters than anything else. More cat-like than human, they struggle to integrate into any polite society, and are only interacted with due to pity and a sense of duty.

Just think about what human-animal crossbreeds would actually look like if they weren't romanticized. Limbs that always look a little misproportioned. Mouths incapable of perfectly mimicking human speech. Clumsy paws that make handling most weapons impossible.

Make a race even you refuse to play, and that's about the safest way to do it.

Or just realize how completely fucking asinine it is to devote this much thought into "how can I play a furry character without letting people call me furry" and just embrace it. Fuck. No one outside of 4chan gives two shits what kind of race you play in-game, as long as you aren't dry-humping the rest of the party and commissioning sexy portraits of your character.

Kwarfs, cat dwarfs. They essentially look like in OP picture: bipedal cats, but much stockier built, a bit wider than they're tall, about twice as short as a typical human, with long and bushy beards. They're nocturnal, but can spend up to a week without sleeping, which they compensate for with long periods of slumber.

They're neither as technologically advanced as dwarfes or magically advanced as elves, their thing is alchemy. Kwarfs produce a variety of plastics with almost limitless properties, which are known around the world as "Kwarf Rubber". This also makes them extremely intolerant towards lack of professionalism and arrogant towards people less knowledgeable than them. No other master will insult you so much, but no other could teach you so much

Extremely long lifespans and lack of a need for leisure time shaped the Kwarf working culture. They work extremely slowly, but very thoroughly, and without taking breaks. They also eat, walk and speak very slowly, thinking before uttering any phrase, which makes communication with them a bit frustrating for others.

Sadly, I've dealt with those fuckers offline as well as online. Personally, I think they're worse then furries because pedophilia makes me very angry (not going to do a blog post, don't worry faggots) and loli-fags shit things up more then the furries. Just create your catfolk race however you want it and tell your players you seriously don't want them to flirt with/kiss/fuck the cat persons.
If someone gets really weird or keeps trying to do it then you fucking kick them out. A player who won't listen to the GM's requests is not a player you want to keep.
If you're worried about being made fun of for having cat-people in your games, two option:
-An outsider is making fun of you, in which case you need to grow a thicker skin cause you're already playing pretend
-Another tabletop RPG fan is making fun of you, in which case they're a dumbass and you can safely ignore them.
