Seems like Confrontation will live again !
The French publisher of CoC just published that.

I would like to see them really do this. As >>51599054
pointed out there have been "Resurrections" beforehand with Wrath of Kings and Drakerys for instance. What they need to do is cut the bullshit, give us beautiful metal figures accompanied by a stylized world. Also ensure that we can use our existing Confrontation minis as the Griffins, despite their age, still look like pure sex.

If they do follow through then this will be great. Unlike the other popular fantasy miniatures game which died after its name changed to "Age of", it would actually come back.

>>51599054
There is Confrontation EVO from what I recall. There is going to be an event for it at a nearby convention, so I may give it a shot.

It says;
Takes place after Ragnarok. The races are disorganized and are back on the new world of Aarklash for revenge and conquest.

Developed by people from the first hour(?) It's written with respect to the original world and continues on the offical background.

So sounds like a revamp where all your old stuff should be valid.

It is, or was, a fantasy miniatures game set in the world ofAarklash with a really rad fancy French aesthetic. There are a bunch of factions, representing your standard fantasy races and some others, all fighting towards an eventual apocalyptic war called the Rag'na'rok. It eventually happened in the setting, then Rackham went bankrupt after pissing off their fans, and that was it until now.

There are also a couple of video games, a RPG, a few board games made by Fantasy Flight Games, and Wrath of Kings which is the poorly advertised spiritual successor.
>>
>>51600092

Wrath of Kings just has some of the Confrontation sculptors on board. It's not really a resurrection of any kind.

Hopefully the new minis are up to snuff. If not I still have an excuse to use existing ones. I was looking for an excuse to collect Tir-Na-Bor anyways.
>>
>>51605063
What dit they do to trigger the community ?
>>
>>51613307
They switched from well hewn made in France metal figures with amazing studio paint jobs to pre-assembled low grade plastic figures painted by Chinese factory workers in order to "Expand our audience" with Age of Ragnarok. As you may guess the drop in quality was quite dramati. When you entire audience is in it for the minis there was a real loss of interest.

There is a lot more behind it including the company's buyout, general mismanagement, and Paulo Parente (Who went on to kill DUST as well), but that is the gist of it. The primer that has been put up says that they are going for hobbyists and are listening to the community, so it is safe to say that they won't repeat that mistake.

I'll honestly say, despite how terrible the minis were, AoR was a much better game than the previous versions of Confrontation. It wasn't an amazing game by any stretch of the imagination, but it was still a step up.

>>51606315
I just want my retro-scifi gorillas back, damnit.
>>
>>51613351
For once Parente wasn't really to blame. It was mostly Bey being an idiot and making all the wrong decisions.
>>
>>51617587
This was probably the one time Parente's character failings worked in favor. His unability to give up his baby means Rackham had to slap a sci-fi coating on the project, and we got AT-43.

I have to agree with you there. Confrontation was never especially well designed or balanced, but from what I played of the AoR two player starter set (Miniatures Market was offloading it for $8, don't judge me) it worked out fine. In the end if you want good gameplay and can deal with fugly figures you can just play Warmahordes or something.

So quick question as I think the cover art, art posted here, and the minis look pretty fuckin cool. Where do I learn more about the universe plus is it more a your dudes setting or just based around heroes?
>>
>>51621675
Your troops in the skirmish game (and Ragnarok) are led by named heroes
From what I know, Dogs of War is the total opposide, kind of like Mordheim I believe ? You have a team of warriors growing in experience and skill over the adventures. I believe the system is compatible with Confrontation, so you can include them later too I guess.

For the universe, I have links and PDF but it won't be of much help if you can't read french...

You should check the actual books or the wiki for setting info. Here is the RPG which contains a decent amount about the setting, though focuses on the titular free city of Cadwallon. https://files.catbox.moe/0uginq.pdf

The game doesn't have customizable figures or anything. It has Dogs of War which is a smaller scale Mordheim esque deal which does have your dudes.
>>
So would you guys rather see a full scale mass battle game, or a more skirmish focused game?

I'd like more skirmish like Dogs of War. I think it fits better for that 28-32mm scale.

Though I wouldn't be opposed to 15mm mass battle goodness.
>>
>>51602076
So is Cadwallon legit? I've been wanting to order some stuff from there but i'm paranoid about ordering things online that aren't from ebay or amazon.

They are technically recasts. They do a bunch of original figures as well. But otherwise yes, you will get what you order from them.

>>

They buy/rescue the old molds when they can as far as I know.

So yea they're legit. They still cast a bunch of the metals in metal.
>>
>>51623519
They are pretty good as far as sticking to the original quality. They even include stat cards and such, and occasionally throw in a resin base.

I'm kinda split, because I'd actually like a return to about the AoR level, but wouldn't like the cost required for the old level of detail.

>>51623820
I miss those BDSM psycho wolves. Shurat was such a beefy model.
>>
>>51623110
Ideally they would give us rules for regular Confrontation (The main one), Dogs of War, and Ragnarok so people can choose their engagement scale. I imagine that the board game will probably be some dungeon crawler or grid tactics deal that could handle smaller encounters. 15mm would miss the point of Confrontation honestly.
>>
>>51624049
I just think for mass battles 28mm doesn't work super great. Then if they keep unit sizes fairly small it shouldn't be much of a problem.
>>
>>51624660
It worked fine for Ragnarok and AoR, at least in my experience. Regular Confrontation, which will probably be what we will get, shouldn't be too big if you are worried about that. Like with Rackham originally I imagine that DoW and Ragnarok will be rolled out later. Just because Games Workshop can't get it together doesn't mean that all large scale rulesets are bad
>>
>>51624721
Oh I know large scale games can work well. Kings of War and Wargods both show that, I just hope they keep the scale in mind and don't go too crazy(i.e. no 50+ model units on the table).

Either way I'm stoked.
>>
>>51624721
I agree. It looks like it'll be skirmish and boardgame they will be going for. The main point being the stunning figures that just would not be the same in 15mm
>>
>>51621145

I would leave to see them release it, and consequently the game in Spanish.
>>
>>51632274
Not really. The actual molds and mastered copies are catered, if they still exist. You can get most of the stuff from Cadwallon, but I imagine that Resurrection will have a new set of models. That said very little will stop you from using existing Confrontation figures in it. I am sure that my Acheron skeleton warriors will get along swimmingly with the inevitable new ones.
>>
>>51591977
This looks cool is there anywhere to read up on the lore and setting?
>>

See
>>51621778
>>
>>51653891
there was also a fluff book that overviewed basically everything that came with the Rag Na Rok boxset.
>>
>>51656248
I would like to add that the box set is really cheap online. It is less than $10 on miniatures market during sales. The minis are lame but everything else is solid.
>>
>>51591977

I smell some Kickstarter scam here. Let that fucking game die along with the Dodo and the Amiga. Nobody need Confrontation anymore, is 2017. We have Age of Sigmar. Best rules, Best miniatures.

seems to be so. maybe it's just a bullshit photo, but if the miniatures look that good pre-painted I don't get why anyone would complain

People did complained about Age of Sigmar despite being the best game ever. Dissenters will inevitably abhor.
>>
>>51659387
Is a meme. The game died because the rules were even more unbalanced than 40k. Only the most WAAC spergers played that game.

And kill the game right out of the gate, because what kind of retard would buy new models instead of using existing ones?

Guess what, this game is already dead and will stay, this is nothing but a scam.

Nice denial
Also, you guys already said the same in 2012 about X-wing

Except X-wing has never been a shitty game, Confrontation was a shitty game that only retarder Yuropenis could like. The world moves on is not 1996 anymore.

Fine. But Confrontation is even worse.

Since when? French artists always was more talented than their Anglo imitators and frogs now leaders of tabletop industry, sounds like a good chances for Confrontation comeback.

Except studio who was bought by Asmodee.
>>
>>51660900
Except the American studio that has bought Asmodee. The guy that give order are A-OK, the Frog are there just to surrender like usual.
And X-Wings rules where copied from an Italian game to be fair. So much for Frog superiority.
>>
>>51660928

Well nope, it's FFG now part of Asmodee: North America, not Asmodee part of FFG:Europe

Still better than Eternal Anglo "engineering"
>>
>>51660948
And yet Confrontation will ever be shit. That game was nothing but shit. The biggest, smelling pile of shit ever made. Good luck in getting your money scammend but some Frog.
And Age of Sigmar is better than X-Wings anyway.
>>

Nope.

You don't need to buy limited edition shit to win AOS, not so much for X-Wing being a Non-Collectible game.

By the way X-Wing Designer was born in America. So much for Frogs doing something good.
>>
>>51661034
>You don't need to buy limited edition shit to win AOS
Yeah you just need to pay 34 euros for model and just roll 3+ to win.
>>
>>51661064
Still better than X-Wing where you need to buy the SUPERMEGALIMITEDNOTMADANYMORE box to get a fucking card.
>>

Can we stop the e-peen contest and focus home interactive on Confrontation?

>>51659387
Painting quality wasn't bad at all, even if a few details were off sometimes.
The only reason is that Rackham parent company went under, and as a result all assets were sold to pay debts.
Such is liberalism.

Nothing precise yet.
I think they are communicating with the French and Italian confrontation "official" federation of players, tho, might be more stuff coming out of this in a few days.
>>
>>51659737
You can't reliably get the old figures these days anyways. If they do this right the new figures will benefit from 10 years of technology and actually look better as well, so people will actually prefer them and want to by them.
>>
>>51659327
>>51659466
No, some of the miniatures were actually quite awful. I'm not home at the moment so I can't take photos, but I couldn't even sell them in my country (that may also be because the game was dead on arrival, and died for good a few months after these pre-painted minis showed up). To be clear: minis were good (plastic version of their metal minis actually), but the painting was horrible.
Not sure about the rules though I never got the occasion to play the game even once
>>
>>51663998
>To be clear: minis were good (plastic version of their metal minis actually)
Some where, but most couldn't compare to their metal equivalent, and the plastic was quite shit as things were prone to bend. Thought I guess that was enough for what they were supposed to be for.
>>
>>51663456
>>51661691
I certainly don't think that the prepaints are that bad. They are much better than what Heroclix has going on at least. I just think that the metals were better as far as the detail goes, along with how much better the paint jobs can get if you paint them yourself.

Also what>>51664265
Said. Fuck bendy figures. Their key mistake was misunderstanding their audience.
>>
>>51660804
I'll take the bait.
We invented bayonets, calculators, suspension bridges, photography, modern submarines, and arguably steam machines (google Denis Papin), aspirin (Gerhardt), planes (Ader) (we were the first to get a military airforce by the way), piston engines (we may have stolen these from the swiss if I recall well) and cars (Cugnot), theorized and tested vessel ligation and transfusion. If you want some fresh inventions, we can talk about the artificial heart of Carpentier, the dengue fever vaccine and a lot of progress in pneumatics. We also created the bases of the International System of Units that is used by every scientific all around the world (and basically everywhere except the US and the UK if I'm not mistaken). Assuming you're american, we also helped you being independant (it was mostly because of our rivalry with Britain but it should count for something). Our wine and champagne is also better than anything produced by the US, and our cooking also has a good reputation all around the world.

Ho, and Confrontation metal minis were really good even if the game wasn't.
>>
>>51665701
Cheese Eating Surrendering Monkeys.
Your argument is invalid.
>>
>>51665768
>Cheese Eating Monkeys
That part is 100% correct. American don't even know what cheese is. Protip: if it looks like a fuckin' plastic sheet, it isn't.
