On the pulpier scale, Pulp Zombies has an actual setting and stats for I-can't-believe-it's-not-Mars-Attacks.

What I don't like about the Mantic game is that it is modern Day. I'd prefer Mars attacks stay rooted in early 1960s.

Active Duty Army would have switched over to M14 Rifle and M60 Machinegun but reserves and National Guard would still be equipped with late WWII and Korean War weapons and equipment.
