You only need to land one blind grenade, and you've also got the potential of pinning if you take gun drones or any carbines.

Throw in Hatred from farsight enclaves and the fact that Drones are initiative 4 and you actually end up with pretty good odds against Orks in close combat as Tau, if only because they're not immune to Tau's basic anti-assault methods like most armies.

Is a Culexus a good addition to a War Convocation? I'd be using him mostly as a fire magnet, as well as a sweet sweet counter to that 5 librarian formation that 5 players in my area run.

I lucked into a really solid local meta it seems, everyone was more than willing to do low point/learning games back when all I had was a SC box and was still figuring shit out.

Warhammer (and tabletop wargaming in general) is a fairly niche hobby, the last thing you need to do is try to discourage new players from getting involved.

If you want AoBR deffkoptas look for the Battle for Vedros or Build+Paint lines, they both use old Blackreach sprues.

Only downside is you can't order them from GW directly since they're aimed at hobby/toy stores, so you have to get them from a distributer like TWS.

That's not true though. I had some of the old sprues when I first got into playing Orks in 2007. They didn't have a Nob on them or the Big Shoota and Rokkit Launcha. There's more detail in the 2007 release sprues as well.

It also went from 16 models to 11, but this was still a pretty good deal, and a good upgrade.

Shootas were detached in the 1999 sprue, in the 2007 they're attached to one arm.

The updated sprues came with the Ork release at the end of 4th edition, which hit around mid 2008 from memory. It was the codex that leaked 6 months early.

The problem is that I honestly don't know what to put inside it with CSM. Chosen stick out because they're supposed to be out CC unit, but they're really expensive. A Hellbrute would be awesome for that protected 2nd turn charge, but fucking possession means I have a 1/6 chance of losing it before the game even begins. Unlike 30k, I don't actually get any combat bonuses, so regular CSM are a waste. Terminators still suck.

I can swap the Command Russ for a Vanquisher at almost the same point cost, they both have HK missiles, and the Veterans can take a Lascannon as can both the Russes.

It means a bit of magnetisation but back when I played yonks ago I had more problems with heavy infantry than armour, hence the autocannons and bolters out the asshole. Veterans can also take meltas.

That's not its primary function. I anticipate it being generally on the same side of the map as the ratlings, not shadowing them parked behind some rocks. To that purpose I've outfitted it with all the anti-light guns. I expect it to function more as a firefighting unit in the second line ready to move forward where needed, while my guardsman are on the flanks and my veterans in the centre with the Lemans positioned guard leman veteran leman guard. Of course if I wanted I could concentrate all the punch on one flank and just use the guard squads to tie up anything on the other flank while my Lemans and veterans push through.

I dunno, just theoryising.

Havoks are an interesting option, though. I always forget about the 4 specials, and they fill the heavy spot on my Warband. I could do 9 dudes with 4 melta and my lord. Then, I could take a few 10man CSM with an AC to chill on objectives with stealth, and put Termicide plasma in the elites. Wait. Fuck. Havoks can't take the Claw dedicated, so they can't get it in a Warband. Melta-chosen it is I guess.

I think this is one of those cases where they came up with the traits without explaining if they came from the Primarch or the planet's population, so the lore contradicts itself. If you're going to use them on scrubs, only ever use them on Vanguard Veterans. They get them at a discount and can use them alongside storm shields without giving a fuck. Likewise, on a Captain, you use one alongside a fist/hammer to gain +1 attack if you aren't using a storm shield there too (like with Gorgon's Chain).

Other than that they aren't really worth it. A pair is too expensive and a single claw is slightly worse than a sword against the kinds of enemies you'd want it to be attacking.

They're a Drop Pod without guidance (no idea why, but it's the same in 30k), but it's actually a flier that's also an assault vehicle. On top of that, it also gets a sort of vector strike.

The downside is that its 100pts and has Demonic Possession, which means there's a 1/6 chance that it will eat your Hellbrute.

All in all, it's pretty sweet. Dreadnaught variants (Including Brute), CSM, and Chosen, which means fuck. I can't put Termies in them. Chosen it is.

If space Marines got a Dreadclaw, it would be 65pts and come with Frag launchers.

Also, note that you can't charge from a Dreadclaw the turn it comes down, so the assault feature really loses its worth later in the game. The biggest advantage is that you don't have to deploy right away and can jink, which is pretty significant for Night Lords because we force Night Fighting for that sweet 3+ Jink in preparation for a T2 assault.

That list is, honestly, really bad. Start from scratch. If you're taking a tank commander you have no excuse not to take Pask in a punished as its is the best Russ. Putting regular gaurd in chimiras is a waste as they should be acting as a screen to protect your tanks from assults and they cant do that from inside a chimira. Also, you have very little firepower in general to try and kill anything relatively tough/armoured. You need either some more heavy weapons his in your infantry or vets with special weapons. From the sounds of things, those Dark Eldar who have joined up with the Aeldari don't have to worry about the Thirst any more. Or at least, when they can't sate their hunger for pain any more and wither away, they join the Ynnead conglomerate instead of being devoured by Slaanesh, which I imagine is pretty appealing to a lot of them.
