I want a relatively simple game to run dungeon crawler-heavy campaigns in. D&D 3.5 does not cut it because my players would rather not emphasize optimization or micromanagement much, nor do we use minis/tactical grids.

AD&D.

D&D 4e

Strike, 5e, Savage Worlds, and Dungeon World,

If you don't want rules interactions and intricate combat, what do you want from your dungeon crawls?

Also like... DnD 5th?

Op said no grids, dummy.

Try OSR games. Especially super simple ones like Black Hack and Lamentations of the Flame Princess. Also possibly Dungeon Crawl Classics. World of Dungeons (a more simplified Dungeon World, which imo makes it better) is also a good option.

Intricate combat would be fine, but my players would, at best, make something like an unoptimized Rogue/Wizard in a PF game, or a single-classed Barbarian, not a typical Paladin (2) / Sorcerer (10) / Dark Magician Girl (6) / Disciple of Horo the Wise Wolf (3) 3.5 build you see on GitP/CharOp, so I figured I can eschew it.

Also no minis or grids simply because I live in the second world and I can't figure out where or how would I acquire those at a good price, and I never thought they are necessary to do fun games in.

But basically, puzzles, claustrophobia, lots of powerful enemies and a lot of classic action is what I'm aiming at.

Oh, and also, since I live in second world, where we only play narrative-heavy, death-heavy games like WFRP2, CoC or WoD, I want to have some wholesome action like you Westerners for once, goddamnit.

A grid you can print.

For minis, you grab a bunch of pic related, print out character portraits, and clip them on. Then, squeeze the metal handle parts to remove them, and voila, instant minis. Of sorts.

Also, I'd suggest Savage Worlds, 4e or Strike!, they got the best "straightforward" combats imo.
