What is the best way to catch up on MTG lore, /tg/?
I tried, it appears shallow and contradictory as fuck. You can always bet that if the art is kickass, the lore is lacking.

not to ask /tg/ it has a hateboner for mtg lore.

mtg salvation wiki and associated source links has the deep cuts. some, especially the planeswalker webcomics aren't available and/or require some excessive digging though.

It's not like the hate boner is undesereved. Writing since BfZ has been particularly shallow, and a ton of that has to do with the Gatewatch. Magic did a good job with an interconnected universe without having to follow the same five chucklefucks all the time so Hasbro can have an Avengers style MtG movie. Fuck, MtG should have been a Netflix series so they can actually explore worlds and characters without having to fit it into 120 minutes where everything has to be dumbed down even more. Hell, just look at the Warcraft movie. That's how bad the MtG movie is going to be but there won't be any huge Chinese fan base to make the movie a huge profit.

It's not good enough to stand comparison to the Avengers. It's the motherfucking Power Rangers.

So did you start with Theros or what? Because that is demonstrably wrong.

This is literally what Magic did for over ten years. Spoilers: it was pretty bad. So bad that they were forced to end it, which led to Odyssey block, arguably the least offensively terrible point in Magic's lore.
