Think of your real world job, or whatever real world job you are trying to get.

Got it? Good.

What would the D&D-style, high magic, high fantasy version of you be doing with that job?

What would the job translate to? Anything related to science or technology probably becomes magic-based instead.
>>
>>51468685
I suppose some sort of scribe or clerk? I could see myself working in some kind of mythic telegraph shop that uses Sending to communicate over long distances, helping people get their messages under 25 words (or at least, to as few Sendings as possible). Or a file clerk at the adventurer's guild, keeping track of what quests have been done, which ones still need to be assigned, who'd be well-suited to what. Though as I'm writing these out I'm realizing "comically clumsy" comes baked right into the job description, and I'm not comically clumsy, so I may not be qualified.

Until recently I worked in retail, which I guess would translate to shopkeeper.

Now I want to play an enchantment artificer who makes rune combinations that function as continuous spells.

E.g. writing the code to animate a golem and define its AI, including machine learning algorithms.

>15,000 generations of golems walking into walls over and over until they learn how to navigate 3d terrain.
>>
>Accountant
Guess I'll be a treasurer to some kind of royal. Not half bad.

Airship pilot.
>>
Getting a PhD in rhetoric to be able to teach, I guess I'd be a professor at wizard tech or maybe a visiting prof at a bard college

Would you be willing to fly to Mount Doom?
>>
>>51468685
Well, every world need people to work in shops.
>>
>>51470402
I think we'd actually develop AWESOME new spells.
Of course casting those would be completely plebian and, being wizards, we'd propably never show the research to other wizards because fuck those guys.

In other words, a dream job.
>>
I have absolutely no idea, OP. I inspect spice mix ingredient stockpiles for signs of bacterial contamination.

I guess I would be a a shop clerk. Specifically, I work the freezer so I would be selling cold food and alchemical ingredients.

Based on that and some other personality traits, I'm the eclectic sage the party meets halfway through the journey. I'm not actually that great of a wizard, but I pass along some overdue equipment upgrades and niche use items (just experimental tinkering, it's really not worth anything, but you can have it). along with a safe space in the middle of nowhere.

Despite the GM's insistence that "no, really guys, he's a powerful wizard!" I don't come up again in the story at all, though my items are greatly appreciated and some offhanded comments I made become the spark for some character arcs down the road.

Okay, weve had a good look inside your eyes, you're definitely posessed, so we're going to presribe you these snake balm drops and refer you to your registered exorcist, NEXT!

Read the Malazan Book of the Fallen series if you like that idea. There is a merchant company that does exactly that in it.

Well. Whoopee I guess. My life changes not at all.
>>

Well i mean, atleast you can legally whomp the shit out of people now. And racially profile to your hearts content

Thought I would be the only analyst itt, though my field is business analytics.

If we go with high magic I assume I'd be a metamagic specialist (doesn't exist in DND?) or a diviner yeah like >>51474918 suggested.

I'd say alchemist, but I've already done alchemical research...so same shit less super computing clusters.

Cosmetic product new prototype packer.
I fill test product into bottles basically.

>It's swirling with black energy.
>How else would it help color the user's hair black?
>It ate through the bottle. I needed get a cleric to cleanse the mess.
>Use a better bottle then.

I just recently stopped being private security. I used to joke with my group, "I'm the guy the Shadowrunners beat up when they break in."

So I guess we are the law in this here town.

UU student, clearly.

Actor.

Actor. Probably the kind that stages performances in the middle of town so the other members of the troupe can pick pockets in the crowd.
>>
>>51468685
>Have degree in Audio Production

I'm a Vibromancer, I summon, alter and amplify soundwaves.

Plus I'm a beginning Voice Actor so I guess I am the town's bard with skill focus in storytelling.

Well that was easy

>tech installer
Magical goods conveniently delivered to your door.
>>

I'd be the guy the artificer and enchanter guilds call in to inspect their wares, certifying that the metalwork on their +1 Swords are up to snuff, and that the mystic runes have no transcription errors. Magic item quality control.
>>
Data scientist. So diviner.
>>
>general maintenance technician in a medical center
So i guess im the wizard keeping all the magic artifacts running in a center full of bossy clerics that, for the most part, have no idea how any of their stuff works.

Better question would be how many wizards would summon a succubus as a "familiar"

I'm working at the loading bay of a store. Would probably do the same.

I'm shit, I have always been shit and will remain shit even in another reality.

I.. I have no idea.
Warlock?
Thief?
Bard?
Mustafa the Used Camel Salesman?

You dont even need to have high charisma or be good-looking for this, you just need to like to talk. A lot. Seriously, when I sell a car most of the time Im not even talking about the car itself, just trying to find out what the customer wants even if he himself doesn't know it now.
>>
>part timer at uni computer helpdesk
not sure what helping people with their malfunctioning magical multititools would be. some sort of artificer?

Both of my parents were mages, proto-artificers (enchanters?), I'm an artificer in earnest. My older brother is an Expert, my other two brothers are bards, and my sister is a divination mage.
I probably do work for merchants (my parents took levels in Aristocrat when Dad's buisiness went well) or be up to inherit/extend the family buisiness and sell swords to adventurers that get themselves killed and ask for impossibly low prices.

Some sort of Bard I suppose. Currently I make Tabletop games, so in a high fantasy setting that'd probably just translate to crafting epics and stories for others.

I'm a mostly homeless NEET. I'm real deep in there. A wandering pauper monk. Level something that isn't one since I've been at this for like four years almost.
