And it's funny because the Iowas actually had not all that great torpedo bulges.

I have a sailor moon question (likely a dumb one) would a constellation be an acceptable celestial body to be the Senshi of?

Last thread we started a list about special eyes.
since half a day has passed I though I might post it now for people who werent lurking then
So far we have:

sharingan(naruto)
byakugan(naruto)
rinnegan(naruto)
shigan(samurai deeper kyo)
red mibu eyes(samurai deeper kyo)
true red eyes(samurai deeper kyo)
various mystic/pure eyes(Nasu/Type-moon verse)
Oboro Mystic Eyes(Basilisk)
Gennosuke’s Doujutsu(Basilisk)
>>51442686 (You)
the various Demon Eyes (Mushoku Tensei)
Enchanted Eye (Strike Witches)
Drafter/Light Splitter (Light Bringer)
wizard eyes (Adventure Time)
Mystic Eyes of Affection (Senran Kagura)
Mad Eyes (Redwall)
Eyes of the Goddess (Tortall)
Ocular Angst (Dragonlance, but its a drawback)
Insight (Bloodborne)
Beautiful Eyes (Riddick)
Cognitohazardous (SCP, sort of)
Eyes of the World(Bayonetta)
Chaos Eyes (webmage)
Shinigami Eyes(Deathnote)
Stolen Witch's Eye(Soul Eater)
Various Sights(Siren Blood Curse)
Demon Eyes(Mushoko Tensei)

Also >>51442760
Demon Empress of Jumper Eyes (or maybe Jumper Empress of Demon Eyes, I'm too lazy to look it up) from Mushoku Tensei. Just stick your fingers in someone's eye socket, swirl them around, and when you pull them back out their eye heals into the new type of eye.

Yeah, but he has to eat ALL the spiders. As we all know, dog-cats are only required to eat a third of the spiders in a jar.

We have one or two perks that allow you to replace a ritual with some magical energy, but do we have the opposite? That is to say, do we have something that will allow you to cast a spell for free at the cost of a significant investment of time?
>>
>>51449916
I think its in masters of magic, lets you break spells down to be cast as rituals from a place of power.
>>
>>51449916
That is basically the entire thing of Formalcraft in Dresden files. It doesn't take much magic talent just a lot of set up and knowledge. Formal craft is stuff like rituals and circles.
I am sure other magic systems have stuff like that as well. It's not even something that you need a perk form.

Jumpers, what are some settings you want to destroy? Tell me about the places you plan to burn to the ground for whatever reason.

Since I asked people what places they would like to fix earlier, I figured why not ask the opposite question.
>>
>>51449907
Perhaps it is the third phase of the moon. Everybody knows the power of dog-cat skills wane inversely with the square root of the moon's phase.
>>
>>51449898
If you take the typical senshi origin backstory, no. Senshi that were reincarnated on Earth came from the Solar System, of which the constellations are not a part of. There are Senshi that come from Constellations (They are main characters in the last arc, where Sailor Galaxia comes from), but they did not fight against Queen Beryl. I'll allow you to be the senshi of a constellation, but you'll be a visitor from another constellation who gets involved in the world.

Being a Senshi of a comet is entirely valid, and Sailor Sol is a good option. Sailor Earth is taken by Mamoru.
>>
>>51449966
You mean Type Moon?
>>
>>51449977
Hmm...that's a good point. I hadn't considered that. Though wasn't that only implemented in the 3rd Edition? As I recall, humans were only immune to shotgun based attacks in the 2nd Edition.

40k, HunterxHunter, Dark Sun, High School DxD, Metalocalypse. Probably more.

This conversation reminds me of a thread back when I still used the rpg.net forums about inventing a setting just through discussing rules changes between non-existent editions. That was a fun thread. Wound up with a pretty cool premise, if I remember right, I should find that thread again and see if I could actually make a game of it.

How dangerous is Panty & Stocking? Are there any city busters running around?
>>
Are Nanoha devices magical foci, as in, you channel your own magic through something for increased power and precision? Or is it more like they learn spells you cast, and then cast those on-demand?
>>
>>51450164
Well, the demons revive a giant mountain sized ghost at the end of the series, with the angels summoning their mom, who promptly kills it just by stepping on it. She's freaking huge. So...there probably are city busters around somewhere. We'll never know though, because the series ended on fucking cliffhanger.

Say it with me, everyone: GAINAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAX!
>>
>>51450164
There are a couple of building-sized ghosts that can wreck shit. There's also a giant worm monster locked up under the town, which gets released in the finale, that dwarfs skyscrapers.
>>
>>51450145
I know, right? Between Fire and Arrow immunity they were already party killers even with the best parties, but to give them Tentacle immunity and three more maces? I mean, if two wizard men and a tentacle princess can't punch a hole in it, what chance does any normal group have?

>>51450102
He's right, I have no idea why this is so much fun, but it really is.

And let's be honest, it beats another power level argument
>>
>>51450164
well the main characters to block bullets on a regular basis. And they do fight some BS at the end: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=idvo6FNUy-E

oh and unless you are a very high chain jumper dont take the gainax drawback
>>
>>51450158
Eh, that was because they were using the cosmic equivalent of a vending machine. Insert a ritual and a sacrifice into a slot and a specific entity will shape that energy for you into a spell. It's not really something you can set up to cast any of your magic without cost and probably wouldn't even work outside of the Dresden Files.

Besides, it's scrub magic for people with no talent of their own. They were using several people, an ancient vampire king, and human sacrifices to accomplish something a moderately skilled wizard could have pulled off on their on and that Harry was able to casually catch and throw at someone else.
>>
Yet another Nanoha questiob (sorry for that), but at least its one that just requires knowledge of the series.
If you take both the Hooked drawback, which railroads you into being a member of Nanoha's team, and the Jewel Seed Incident scenario, do you go through the TSAB path or the unaffiliated path?
>>
>>51449985
Alright, thanks I think I'll go with a more normal choice actually. I had an idea but I think I can find something else that would be better suited to the story.

>oh and unless you are a very high chain jumper dont take the gainax drawback
Really? The note about your most powerful abilities being unexpectedly countered lead me to believe that having a bunch of jumps wouldn't necessarily help you survive. The corollary to this is that it's theoretically survivable without 100+ jumps, if you fight smart.

I honestly just want to take it because it sounds fun, and is probably what would have happened if the series had continued.
>>
>>51450185
A little of both. Devices do the heavy lifting of the spell. You still have to know how to cast the magic, for the most part (some Devices, mostly Intelligent Devices, can cast the spell for you), but the Device takes care of all the repetitive and boring bits that a human doesn't want to handle. It's like doing math with the assistance of a graphing calculator. Quite literally, in fact, given that Nanoha magic is mathematics-based. But yeah, a Device is an aid for a mage, not a replacement for one.
>>
Something I'm not clear on for Dresden Files magic, can someone help me out? If you already have a ton of mana from other jumps, can you pull some really big flashy stuff on par with the Queens or Senior Council, or is there a limit on a Wizard's output beyond their pool? Is it like how in Slayers where there's a disconnect between the Bucket and Pool?
>>
>>51449971
If there ever is a SD Gundam jump that is one setting I would destroy with glee. It was just so horrible. To this day I must say it's the worst thing I have ever watched. I hear the Sub wasn't so bad but the dub version was so terrible. It would be a mercy kill.

It didn't help that they were planning on nerfing tentacle princesses as well. Fucking hell, man, wasn't the butchering they got in the 2nd Edition enough?

>>51450301
At this point, I'm convinced that Gainax is doing it on purpose. They have to be.
>>

I'm pretty sure, yes. It's been a while since I've watched any Nanoha, but I believe they can be overcharged without too much risk, so long as the amount isn't ridiculously high.

>>
>>51450356
Considering they cut Asteroid Lizard from 2nd Edition, they honestly deserved it. 1st Edition still remains the best, despite the problems it has with Potion Ammunition easily being duplicated at low levels. All you have to do is add in that home rule and it runs great.

I still fondly remember the time I held off a Shade Tree with an Asteroid Lizard on his last leg while the party's Dog-Cat ate three bowls of dirt to resurrect the Tentacle Princess. Fun times, fun times.
>>
>>51450366
Hmm... Do you think that if I were to import another focus as my device, that I would be able to channel magic "normally" while bypassing the device? Because I'm at the point where I don't really need "help" in terms of mental processing. In fact, I'm pretty sure the device would only slow me down, unless it can operate at speeds exceeding mach 100.
>>
>>51449826
Link to the comic?
>>
>>51450452
mach 100 != computational speed
>>
>>51450482
Yes, and? It's still a barrier and additional step to casting magic. If it would normally amplify spells as soon as they were cast, needing to be processed by a computer is one more limit to casting speed, especially if it can't instantly receive the input.

Think I already mentioned this before, but I once made the mistake of going to a banned Jump. That planet doesn't exist anymore.
>>
Also; Heavens, you're an absolute butthole. Your goddamn Jump's got me hooked and now I kinda wanna watch Nanoha. Mad props. Check my build:

Keeping my Y chromosome and spending 50 cp to start at 8 years of age. Boy, that is one sentence I didn't ever expect to write.
Wanderer Origin
Age is No Barrier (Free)
Well Adjusted (Free)
Zenryoku Zenkai! (850 CP) It's always nice to be able to let loose every once in a while. Now I can do it without murderizing whoever I'm fighting.
Friendly Rivalry (700 CP) I've already got the one perk from Generic Magical Girl that lets me befriend people by beating them up, but... Eh. I'll take it anyway.
I CAN BE SHOT (500 CP)
Power of Friendship (200 CP) So this one's also just friendship via combat, except it also includes Therapy no Jutsu on the side. Worth.

Summoning (-200 CP) I've been reading Ryuugi's The Games We Play recently, and just realized that summons are dope as hell and I'm retarded for having ignored them.

Blood of Kings: Sagebrecht (-500 CP) I am immortal, I have inside me blood of kings! Also, I can now glow with more colors than an a clown car crashed into an LGBT parade. Eat your heart out, Ragyo.

Mid-Childan System (Free) I've sorta been neglecting ranged combat, which it looks like this setting has plenty of. So this system's probably gonna help out a lot.

Items: Moolah and Unlimited Pizza Works (Free)

Companions: Brought along the squad, never leave the house without 'em. (-700 CP)

Devices: This stuff's actually pretty awesome. But I don't really rely on individual weapons much, since my Stand is pretty much just UBW. Still, I did put some effort to make me a kick-ass sword.

Device:
Shooting Mode (500 DP)
Fulldrive (200 DP)

Barrier Jacket:
Overdrive Form (100 DP)

Enhancements:
Mana and Efficiency Boosts (0 DP)

>Cont...
>>
>>51450617

>>51450650

Drawbacks:

Extension, so I can hang around 'till the cast actually grows into bodacious babes.

Separated (-600 CP) Guess I'll catch the squad on the flipside.

Lost Logia Magnet (-500 CP)

Targeted (-300 CP) Someone's got a bone to pick with me. Again.

Scenarios:
Mantle of the Saint Kaiser (0 CP) Hoookay, let's get this straight; So I'm the clone of an ancient king, grown in a tube by some nutters, the inter-dimensional magic FBI(?) took me in as a ward, I get Assassin's Creed-esque flashbacks from my ancestors, and some religious people think I'm Jesus Christ/The Dragon Reborn/Azor Ahai Come Again/The Prince that Was Promised.

Sounds like fun.

Material-LSD (300 CP) Dimension-traveling super girls from the darkest timeline who want to beat my ass six ways from Sunday, huh? I can take 'em.

The Jewel Seed Incident (500 CP) Well, I was planning to butt in on the plot anyways, so might as well get paid for it, right?

Nuclear Launch Detected (700 CP) Honestly... these guys sound like a bunch of pushovers. Might as well grab that sword and painting, right? Though I gotta admit, I'm a bit worried and excited to find out what an "Internal AMF" is supposed to be and how much of a fight it can put up.

Belka Reborn (Forget the CP, I'mma just take the ship) Not sure who I'd side with here, considering I don't know who the good guys or bad guys are. Guess I'll play it by ear.

It's cool to take all the Group B's, right? They don't really seem as if they contradict each other or make anything impossible.

I'll use my leftover CP to kick Natural Potential up to SS and grab dat dere Modern Belkan.

...And now that I've finished writing this, I just realized something; I'm some sort of weird magic royalty who runs on the power of friendship, with the ability to summon magical beings, and thanks to my Stand, can copy and paste weapons for days. It might be a bit of a stretch, but...

>mfw I realize who I just turned myself into
>>
>>51450684
Who?

Also, what's your Stand?
>>
>>51450684
AMF is an Anti-Magic Field. So some of your magic will be taken from you/negated.

Also, the Belka Reborn scenario is two different things, apparently? One path has you deal with the reborn Belkan Empire, with the goal of fighting hem off. The other one has you try and lead the broken Belkan people to form a new kingdom, outside of the reign of the Church.
>>
So what's the actual benefit of being a Combat Cyborg in Nanoha. Seems kinda pointless from what I can tell.
>>
>>51450758
Yeah, it kinda is. Heavens came down a bit too hard with the nerfhammer, as you can tell.
>>
>>51450738
Can you side with the reborn Belkan Empire?
>>
>>51449916
The Thaumaturgy perk in Exalted Mortals is basically this.
The results are a little weaker, but you can also teach them so it evens out.
>>
>>51450821
No I mean I can't find canon info on what benefits they have over nornal people.
>>
>>51450828
>>51450828
Nope, you have to fight them. You either fight the reborn Belkan Empire, or help them become great again.
>>
>>51450758
The on you can buy in the jump mainly means you're more physically capable without actively using magic to enhance that I think?

The one's in canon have things called inherent skills, magical abilities they have from their augmentations. Things like Ride Impulse (Super speed), Rumble Detonator (Turn metal into an explosive) and Silver Curtain (Illusions).
>>
Is anyone planning on a Dishonored 2 jump? If so will there be a canon companion option?
>>
>>51450961
If there is, don't let you-know-who touch it so it isn't tainted.
>>
>>51449809
My servant is a child Arturia who hits people with Rhon like it was a sword and so get summoned as a Saber despite using a lance? She may or may not wear a lion costume.
Where does that fall?

>>
>>51451021
I thought his jump was pretty good, desu. :^)
>>
>>51451021
Yeah the Dark Lord is way to conformist in his jump making for my tastes. Do we need an immortality and power option in ever jump man.
>>
>>51451039
Emily's powers are pretty damn cool, yeah. I feel like she's not as straightforwardly strong as Corvo, but she has so many weird tricks that it makes up for it.
>>
Does the purchasable Hero of a Thousand Faces come with a sheath?
>>
>>51451084

>>
Is there anything that you could use to get all your thrown or launched projectiles to return to you?
>>
>>51451084
>>51451090
What I want to know is if it can split into multiple pieces, so you can do sword and shield, or relevant to this topic sword and sheath, or many swords at once.
>>
>>51451098
You could probably enchant everything to do that or use higher level psychic stuff to pull them back, but do you really want your bullets to boomerang back at you?
>>
>>51451090
Is there a weapon import option that gives an accompanying sheath?
>>
>>51449985

Speaking of Mamoru, I have a question about him.

If I used the Unholy Heights retroactive gender swapping perk on him, would the female version of Mamoru be an actual Sailor Senshi?
>>
>>51451098
Gilgamesh has a Noble Phantasm that he uses to return stuff to the GoB. Can't remember what rank Val said it would be though.
>>
>>51451114
>Excalibur to using maces to toss around whole crowds given a few seconds and an effort of will. Creating huge swords to cut through battleships or pneumatic fists to outpunch mecha are similarly possible, so long as you have the strength and constitution to lift them.

Given "pneumatic fists", I'd say probably?
>>
>>51451128
He already fielded this question. Mamoru is the one with the crystal of earth, so yes, if you turned him into a girl he would probably become a full fledged senshi.

The Dark Assembly Ticket from Disgaea is more fun.
>>
>>51450655
Depending on who you ask there are plenty of banned jumps
>>
>>51451167
What's that do?
>>
>>51449809

I made an OC Caster Servant and an OC Hero (Saber) for Demiservant. The Caster would probably be somewhere in the 2-4 range, real classy. The Saber would be more of a 6, mosly Swag but not too far from Class.
>>
>>51451121
Well, I'd rather they re-materialize in my inventory instead if boomeranging back at me, but thanks.

>>51451139
Pretty sure she said it'd be D-rank, though I'm not sure if that'd work on anything besides GoB.
>>
>>51449809
I plan on being demiservant tesla during zero (or fsn. Not sure yet, need to see zero first), so more class than swag, apparently.
>>
>>51451167

Ah. Well that makes things easier.

Although considering the time warping nature of that Unholy Heights perk, how much of Mamoru's history would be affected? Like would he be a girl in his past life as Prince Endymion or just in his current life?
>>
>>51450961
I had said I might eventually try it, but I don't see myself getting around to it eventually. I'd love to see a jump for it if you're claiming it.

Elodie's 1.5 class-tier in the streets, and 5.5 swass-tier at heart. I think it comes of being raised and destined to be this ideal queen, but having picked up too many street smarts and snark from hanging around me.

My driving goal has been to prevent lots of settings from being destroyed, or at least ensure their inevitable process of destruction leaves the possibility of a future. The idea of others who burn places to the ground for its' own sake is, in fact, what drives me to commit both atrocities and miracles.

So when I say I fantasize over the idea of the Lovecraftverse and Ravenloft being painfully, hideously incinerated in the righteous pyre of my conviction forever-you have to understand, it's because my understanding of them does not define them as settings.

They're my enemies. Enemies to all reality.

>>51450315
I would think so, yes. As for the other thing-wizard output does not strictly scale with a strict quantity when being able to draw magic from external sources is a big part of DF magic-but SKILL with it does define what they can effectively do with their magic to a large degree.

So-yes, I would say the bucket-pool analogy holds true to an extent. But the "bucket" is a combination of training and natural precision with magic.

Any ideas as to how to reboot the Marvel Universe?

Bone charm crafting was surprisingly powerful. In the first game bone charms never really did much for me, though I found myself making more use of them in Daud's DLC. But with the ability to make charms with multiple traits for effectively massively expanding your slots for charms, and with the ability to stack the same trait over and over, you could make get some scarily powerful upgrades.

That game has turned me into a fucking kleptomaniac. I will hunt every piece of whale bone I can, search every nook and cranny, etc. It is absurdly difficult when running ghost/clean hands, but it is so worth it. I will be the Bone Witch.

Being able to take the crafting into other places would make me a very happy person.
>>
>>51451381
Well that's what I meant. If you're looking to do the impossible then judicious applications of the first and fourth true magics in Fate might be your only real options outside of burning a wish.

Make sure to take some whales with you. The lore says that you can make bone charms out of any bones, but apparently whales are the best for it.

Actually, Naoko once said that only women can be senshi and that's why Mamoru is so weak in terms of power. She didn't give a reason why.

Naturally I ignored this in the actual jump because I care little for gender limitations. But yes, he would be a full fledged senshi if that happened.
>>
>>51451381
Just start systematically murdering important characters in such a way that they can't come back. Body, soul, the whole bit. Start with Wolverine, make a side stop at Galactus, and then just start working your way down from there.
Eventually the world will become so fucked up and stalled for activity that something will happen to hard reboot the whole thing.
And if it doesn't, well, you didn't really lose anything.

Not even those. The True Magics have a very, very distant softcap that can be inferred from things they have trouble oneshotting: A TYPE, Avalon and ressurection as a feat for any of them other than the First.

Step one - murder every extremist group member and anti-whatever politician

step two - kill off every irredeemable supervillain

step three - apply therapy perks to superheroes

step four - raise tech level of Earth, laugh at Richards' uselessness.

When I jump DC, I plan to take over Gotham during the earthquake storyline (since america kicks the city out of the country, making it up for grabs) and then fix it up. That's all, just make the city a nice place to live. That and kill the joker, of course.

That pic was the around the start of Secret Wars 2 where the multiverse was being destroyed. The Ultimate Universe and Earth-616 were the last two universes left which were going to crash into each other and destroy both.

So the only solution the Marvel heroes could come up with is destroy the other universe before their Earths crashed into each other.

Ultimately both universe still died anyway and Doctor Doom salvaged what was left by becoming a God and creating a mishmash universe of the remains of the old multiverse. Eventually things got put back to normal.
>>
>>51451477
Softcap doesn't mean cap anon. Although we don't even really know the limits of the fourth since it's almost entirely OC. I don't think you can really apply that to it.

Even so needing multiple applications doesn't mean they don't work. It just takes a little doing.

>>
>>51451566
I'm just saying-from what we've seen of them, I think you'd have to do something on the level of mixing two into one big engine of bullshit to even have a hope of affecting the Marvel multiverse like how the Holy Grail is a mainly the Third's work with some implied, unspecified intervention from the Second. And I'm talking the Chaldean Grail, not the Fuyuki city's bad knockoff.

There is one thing we know about the Fourth though-for sure, it can't touch Avalon as it's description explicitly says it negates all True Magic attacks. Presumably excepting those that deliver a decisive blow to the head or heart as per its' general flaw.

>>51451751

I think the jumpmaker for Marvel once said that if you roll 2005 then the jump ends right before the multiverse dies so you're good. But if you roll Now you show up in the post-Secret Wars 2 multiverse.

However I might be remembering wrong so you should ask them about that.

MCU is probably safe on that front since obviously Secret Wars 2 doesn't get referenced at all in the movies, but ask Red about it next time she's on to be sure.
>>
>>51451751
You either roll the option that puts you in the most recent time period and dodge that clusterfuck entirely, or assume the Benefactor stops this nonsense during your stay because you won't be living through it without plot armor.

Or assume she gives you plot armor so you can actually interact with those storylines.

While the MCU has its own numbered designation in the Marvel multiverse and comicbook stuff can interact with it, the actual movie MCU is effectively in a separate Marvel multiverse that never had any of that shit happen. Or so I heard.

Have you ever created a group of heroes, either directly or indirectly? Could be something like Zordon and the Power Rangers, where you gave them the powers/items/whatever and then led them and gave them advice, all that jazz, or something where you just gave them the power they needed and let them gather together to fight evil?
>>
>>51452601
Not talking about the jump. Just wish we had some way other than pods to expand companion slots.

>>
>>51452628
That's what house rules are for anon. That and multi-slot companions. With a full team of multi-slot companions you can field like thirty people at once.
>>
>>51452589
Well the classes are just a cheat level talent for X, you might be able to give that with SB. That said only you get that, your companions just get competency. You would only be able to spread the cheat talent of the class you chose since that is the only one you have to work with.

This also may require that you wank that your cheat level talent comes in the form of a supernatural ability to grow in X. There are probably other hero's for which this is true so you might be able to get them to give you the missing classes.
>>
>>51452628
We do have a couple ways. It just requires a lot of futzing with the ship in uncharted waters.
If you hollow a ship out and make it larger than the galaxy your companion limit might as well not exist outside of space operas.

>>
>>51452652
Um, not him, but where are you getting that? Companions get Classes too, and that boost is under the Class section.

>Party Call (Free To All Origins): You're not going alone, right? You may bring eight companions along with you for free or you can use this option to create new ones. They're natives of the world that you begin in and have lived their entire lives there. They receive a free Class but attain no CP. They're fairly competent by the standards of their world but aren't extraordinary—at least not yet.
>>
>>51452658
If you're going to do that just use the ???AU Light of Terra in place of the ship in Uncharted Waters. No need to limit yourself to space operas.
>>
>>51452658
How?
>>
>>51452698
They get a class but it explicitly says they are only competent in it not extraordinary, though I suppose that last bit "not yet" might leave it open to interpretation and I'd be happy to admit I'm wrong if that turns out to be the case.
>>
Is it possible to purchase additional devices in the new Nanoha jump? I don't see an option for it.
>>
>>51452714
The Dahak is bigger, but since the plan is hollowing it out I think you might be right. You shouldn't do that to the guy he doesn't deserve it.
Although if you go for remote bodies you don't actually need to hollow him out so I dunno.

>>51452719
Uncharted waters has an option to let all your companions be crew on your ship even when they aren't active. You can import a ship. There are a lot of ways to make your ship bigger through jumps like Supcom, Five Star Stories, FF14's scenario, and Titanfall.
Maxing it all out makes the Dahak roughly the size of the milky way IIRC and it's about the size of the moon when you start.
>>
How do you guys keep track of all your powers? Do you organize them under headings or something?
>>
>>51452749
What keeps it from collapsing in on itself as a supermassive black hole at that point?
>>
>>51452731
Yeah? No one starts in the Classes "extraordinary" except Retired Heroes. Competent sounds like you're a beginner in your chosen Class, and well, the learning boost is simply part of the Class.
>>
>>51452765
The Dahak itself has gravity generators that keep it intact.
As it scales up you may need to refit them. I recommend making it more structurally stable in some way before importing to Titanfall since that size upgrade is absolutely massive and doesn't scale everything up with it.

You could reasonably say at that point that the world itself is inside of the ship, and just carry it along to the next world, or at least all of the people in it as companions. There's basically no need for pods at that point, or the warehouse for that matter.
>>
>>51452797

>>
>>51452807
It still doesn't change the fact that the boost is part of the Class, and a beginner Class is by itself fairly unimpressive, certainly not "extraordinary".

>You may select a single class. This represents your primary affinity in this world, though certainly doesn't prevent you from learning skills normally, and essentially determines your “starting stats.” You will also find it much easier to learn new skills and develop existing skills which fall within the purview of your class. This is not limited to the skills in this jump; your learning curve concerning any such skills that fall within your class are raised, offering a high learning rate in your specialty
>>
>>51452808
That's a useful template, thanks.
>>
>>51452819
Kind of. Some jumps involve more area than even the largest persistant ship can cover, but the companion limit isn't that hard to work around anymore.
I don't know about taking worlds with you though. It maintains changes to itself, but I don't think it does anything for storage by itself.
It isn't a replacement for pods though. You still have to work companioning new people out some other way.

There's never been any explicit rule on just grabbing people as companions, it's why the necromancy loophole came up in the first place before the ship replaced it. On the other hand, if the ship is large enough to encompass the world, then the world is just a subset of the ship. There'll be more perks, options, or tech that people will make to make their ship larger, so universe sized ships aren't out of the question.

>>
>>51452926
The problem is that the domain within the ship is a special dimension because it's been specifically created to house companions. In that regards it isn't much different from the warehouse, both of them aren't normal space. If you argue that it's normal space, then there's no reason why companions should be sustained within the ship at all. If you try to argue anything more specific than that, you're making a separate ruling on top of the authors original ruling.

It doesn't help that there's a set of perks that specifically allows you to companion worlds and planets, so even if you're trying to argue that the ship encompassing the world doesn't count, you could just use that perk loophole instead.
>>
>>51452982
And why would these special spaces just make things automatically companioned like that? Putting someone in the warehouse doesn't make them become a companion automatically. Why would it here?
>>
>>51452982
We have perks that let you compaions worlds and planets?
Because stuffing people in your warehouse doesn't make them companions on it's own. The same would go for the ship if you're running them as the same kind of thing.

>>51453003
The only difference between your interpretation of a companion and the old necromancy interpretation of a companion is that one presumably has the fiat protection for respawning. You can argue all you want that bringing people along with you doesn't mean they're companions, but then it becomes a matter of semantics and intention, whereas the ship exploit and the necromancy exploit were largely just about bringing people along.

The old necromancy exploit abused the ambiguity of jumpchain moving everything within CP fiat areas like the warehouse with you over into other jumps, and since there'll never be an official ruling on it, you can't argue for it or against it without looking like an idiot trying to force their own interpretation over it. The same goes the other way around, but it's not like that's going to stop the loopholes from popping up. In that sense, the ship exploit is the exact same thing, except it relies on exploiting wording in the Uncharted Waters jump.

If you're bringing the people along with you regardless and you want to import them, then import them and make them proper companions or whatever you want to call it. That was the same way people got around the necromancy loophole as well, except the necromancy loophole needed the targets to be items before they could become companions.

Loopholes probably will always exist and frankly, given how jumpmakers get burned just trying to draw the line for their own jumps, I doubt either Quicksilver or the maker of Uncharted Waters is going to make another /jc/ wide official ruling on the matter.

>>51453007
It's a combination that relies on perks for interacting with concepts and inanimate objects, then either selectively interpreting the idea of what a character in an IP can be, or using pods and then importing to get out of the pod. There's an alternative way to do it relying on creation perks as well, but that exploit is even more ridiculous.

This hasn't ever been a thing. Even back when QS was around it was still not a thing. If you're so desperate to abuse loopholes, at least stick to things that actually are loopholes and not just cheating.
>>
>>51453220
I don't think they have anything in particular against the expanded universe, they just don't want to bother checking against it when making new stuff, because that would be a pain in the ass.
>>
>>51452906
Absolutely.

Use gravtech to build an antigrav and graviton propulsion system into the lightsaber hilt itself through miniaturization. Then make the lightsaber spin while in flight for absolutely no reason in order to throw your enemy off and make them stare at you stupidly trying to figure out how the fuck you're breaking physics and complain that lightsabers don't work that way.
>>
Listen if you just want to cheat I can't stop you, but that's not how it works and you know it. You can't take anything at all between jumps with the ship let alone people.
And the warehouse ejects people from it when the door/portal closes you can't keep them that way either.

Good.
>>
>>51453234
Oh, I apologize. I'm assuming you're not aware of how the necromancy exploit worked to begin with if mentioning the name wasn't enough.

Both exploits are based on semantics and depend on the idea that whatever you own or have a relationship to are frozen in stasis and moved along with you as part of your belongings. The more legitimate necromancy exploits used perks that allowed them to claim ownership or actually just turned people into items straight up so that this would be valid. The less legitimate attempts utilized other perks which would bind people to them, and by that, satisfy the "individual to jumper" relationship requirement. The only reason it's called the Necromancy exploit in the first place was because an anon showed up sometime during the first Philosopher Stone Debate with the idea that if he could take all of the souls of potential companions, he could just act as their facilitator and just resurrect their body each time, while freezing their bodies inside the warehouse or putting their souls in jars inside the warehouse to keep them going. No one could really argue with the idea that souls can be items, same with bodies, and having Quicksilver try to make a ruling on necromancy from another jump wouldn't have gone over well either, so people were more inclined to just try and ignore it. Another anon tried this with her incestuous love relationship, except she used in vitro birthing to do it instead of necromancy.

All of these exploited the lack of description and lack of hard ruling coming from Quicksilver's behalf, but before Uncharted Waters came along with the every single companion on one ship thing, no one really pushed the envelope as far as companions went, so no one considered these exploits as anything too offensive as long as it wasn't shoved down other people's throats. I also mentioned it in reply to another anon, but pod-cycling also relies on the vague idea of how pods work in order to mass create companions.
>>
>>51453345
Yes, I'm aware of what that is. You were constantly speaking as if you could just put people on a ship or in the warehouse and have them come along. Pod cycling also doesn't work, as discussed in multiple posts above. Trying to abuse the wording doesn't work when the guy who made that wording told you no on it.
>>
>>51453345
Oh hey you're talking about Mommy right?
That was some fucked up shit right there.
>>
>>51453345
Didn't he basically go "Jump Chan smacks you if you try to get around the companions rules" and then people just screamed and cried and said that they ignored that rule anyway?
>>
>>51453246
When did I call them idiots? I'm not sure why you're trying to start an argument when there isn't one. No one is saying here that loopholes are cheating, just that they exist.

>>51453259
I'm telling that anon what people have done in the past to circumvent companion limits? I'm not sure what point I'm supposed to prove here.

>>51453260
There's never been a set of rulings that have been accepted except what's on the intro document on the drive. Even then, if the community wants to hate on something, they'll hate on it regardless of how it's executed or what the intent is. If they don't want to hate on it, they'll call it a "smart combo" instead. For over several hundred threads, that rule document and guidelines has not changed a single bit, despite the complexity of jumps changing dramatically beyond the jumps that QS made.
>>
>>51453407
You seem to really enjoy only accepting QS rulings on certain things. A common trait on your sort actually, the type that tries to justify the worst exploits of exact wording or excuse things that are obviously stupid. People like you make life miserable for jumpmakers, forcing them to put up with you or write in legalese.
>>
>>51453407
you said anyone trying to force their interpretation looks like an idiot.
I don't know what you think you're doing, but you're forcing things pretty hard anon.

Not to mention that your loophole doesn't even work. The necromancy one is debatable, but the uncharted waters ship can't make people companions or let you take new people with you as non-companions. It just doesn't work that way no matter how you slice it since it doesn't let you take anything at all. Only ship modifications stick between jumps.
>>
>>51453380
By the time Quicksilver wanted to draw the line, he couldn't, because there were too many other jumpmakers, and no one wanted to step on each other's toes. Sure, everyone respected Quicksilver's authority on the matter, but it wouldn't stop a shitposter from tossing shit at him if he tried to make a ruling, especially on how somebody else's jump should work. The fact that he couldn't make rulings on his own jumps without shitposters coming out was just plain stupid. Eventually he lost motivation entirely, and honestly there wasn't much anyone could do at that point. Not to mention the shitposting just got worse with other jumpmakers once QS left.

>>51453366
That has never stopped anyone from trying, and unless you want to go and police the thread regularly, it won't stop people from doing it in their chains either. If someone wants to use the exploit, I'm not going to bother trying to scream at them until they stop. If you want to bring up past history in full and change the rulings document to set it in stone, be my guest. All I'm doing is pointing out that it exists.

>>51453369
I'm not sure why that anon was so oddly persistent over the birthing thing, but admittedly it was a pretty novel idea.
>>
>>51453485
Can you just fuck off? What do you actually think bringing up all the bad blood will do? You think this will make anyone happy or do you think it'll only make a bunch of people already feeling shitty feel even worse? Fuck off, your kind isn't wanted here.
>>
>>51453485
It doesn't exist though. That's the problem.
If it did and was scummy that's one thing, but it does not function in that way as written.
You might as well give yourself double cp in every jump if you're going to blatantly cheat like that.
>>
>>51453485
Riiiight. "These exploits totally exist guys, even if you have to outright ignore the jump makers saying they don't work they still work". Admit it, you're here to shitpost, not point out loopholes. You've shown here that you don't actually care whether it's an exploit or plain cheating, you're just here to stir up trouble.

>>

Let him be paranoid. You know what, just to fuck with him I think I'll have my background be from Gotham. A CLEAN politician from Gotham. Nobody in Gotham is clean, quite frankly. Not even Commissioner Gordon, so it should drive Batman nuts trying to figure out my game.
>>
>>51453760

Batman actually really admires people who try to do good things the clean way. If he can't find any evidence of you being dirty or having an agenda, it'll be more likely than not that you'd get campaign funding or public support from Bruce Wayne.
>>
>>51453827
Depends on the writer, sometimes he does that, sometimes he's CONVINCED the person is dirty.
Then they inevitably wind up dirty, because Batgod is never wrong.
>>
>>51453862

Yeah, true. My favorite interpretations of Bats usually involve him being paranoid and planning for things that "might" happen instead of things he's convinced of but has no evidence for. Not convinced that Superman is or will be evil, just carrying around some Kryptonite juuuust in case. You know?
>>
>>51453827
I don't know about you guys, but if I (as a Jumper) found out that Bruce Wayne AKA Batman was supporting me, that'd be freaking amazing. It's like...we talk about these characters in casual ways, because as Jumpers we meet them as people. But at the same time, these are also the characters we grew up with, our childhood heroes. Getting a picture with Superman, getting endorsed by Batman, chilling out with Spiderman, these are all things that would get me hyped. Plus the idea of using foreknowledge to prevent tragedies that happened in canon is awesome as well. I'm going to legitimately enjoy completely and totally fucking up SEELE and Gendo's plans beyond repair.
>>
>>51453882
No, that's dumb. Superman gave him that Kryptonite as a sign of trust, in case Superman was ever mind controlled. It's Clark being paranoid, not Bruce. Now, all the other anti-Superman weapons that Batman's made, that's him being paranoid.

>>51453966

The writer didn't like the concept of Spiderman being married or something for personal reasons is what I heard, but I didn't ever dig around for the details. It's why we got the horribly contrived circumstances, the terrible decision making and the bizarre deal with the devil. People get sucked back from the dead, get most of their body restored with magic or special tech and uplifted all the time and no one from Doctor Doom to Doctor Strange can heal a non-immediately fatal bullet wound. Peter Parker deciding to sacrifice his marriage for his aunt's life doesn't seem terribly out of character if we're talking about pure value proposition, loved one life beats marriage. Him to deciding to SIGN IT AWAY TO SEMI-LITERAL SATAN IS ANOTHER THING ENTIRELY. Then you have fuckin Mephisto who has one of the biggest good guys in all of the Marvel Universe by the balls, somehow, and he asks for Spiderman's marriage instead of his soul or some shit? What the fuck? Even if we take into account the bullshit "unborn child's existence" thing, that makes no sense. What second rate demon prevents the life they want signed over to them from existing in the first place? What kind of shitty evil are you? No one is thinking clearly here, not a single one of them. What the fuck
>>
>>51454012

I'm finally getting around to reading that shit, after 10 years.
It's good, but god is Stark a twatwaffle. And that's not an insult I use lightly.
And him and fucking Reed, making a goddamn Thor clone? Fuck.
I just finished the part where clone!Thor publicly murders that black giant hero guy. What a shitshow.

I think I'm just going to quietly kill off Nitro before he nukes those kids, and then maybe I'll bitchslap those New Warriors around for a bit to get it through their heads that heroing has no place in reality TV.
And then I'll dig up all the shit that company's been pulling.

I have a bunch of people on my shit list, and I've only read like a third of it or something.
I'm so pissed at Reed that I'm tempted to try and steal Susan away from him, but if she keeps going back to him, then they deserve each other.

At this point I think the only one who's actions I 100% approve of in this shitshow are Ben Grimm's. Good for him telling both sides to go fuck themselves.

Eh, while I'm ranting, I haven't sorted this out in my head yet. It seems like when they discuss the Superhuman Registration Act, they wobble back and forth between:
>if you're out in costume, you have to register
and
>if you have superpowers AT ALL, you have to register
So which is it? I could almost understand the first one, but the second one is straight up profiling.
>>
>>51454068
It's both. Different comics were written by different people, meaning that each individual writer's personal stance got represented and made the Registration Act a tangled and inconsistent mess. Supposedly, editorial wanted the story to come down on the side of pro-Registration, but you can't really tell that what with all the evil shit they pull.
>>
>>51454025
You want Deal with the Devil/Faustian Bargain from Ghost Rider and maybe Dark Contract from Ravenloft.
>>
>>51454025
Heh. Is there a perk that makes people forget what you've done? Show up briefly at the start of Spidey's career, make a contract with him that he can never make a contract with an agent of evil/hell.

Some years later, Mephisto shows up to make his deal... and can't. "What."
>>
>>51454188
That sounds like a really fun way to fix that, actually. You wouldn't even have to be stealthy about it. If you could just somehow make a contract that prevented Spidey from making a contract with an evil being on a conceptual level, that seems like the kind of thing a superhero would just agree with out of hand anyway.

> "I can't."
> "What do you mean you can't."

...I don't have childhood heroes. In hindsight, I think that explains a lot about my approach to /jc/.

I'm trying to think of a way to parse this without sounding edgy as hell because it's not like I spent my childhood going "fuck Superman" on instinct, it's just that on some gut level the lizard part of my brain...just didn't really emphasise with the heroes on any level. It's like. "Okay, you fight for the forces of justice or whatever. I don't really see the point, but I gotta kill time between Discovery Channel specials so shine on you crazy diamonds". Well, that and I think I've been accidentally brainwashed into a seething contempt for Disney-style sweetness and light, because of the princesses not named Mulan being destructively useless.

More than anything though-I think PPG drove home the idea to me that superheroes are ultimately just as flawed and impulsive as the rest of us. While supervillains at least embrace those flaws with style. More importantly, it always seemed like villains either TRIED harder, or actually DID things that brought about meaningful change. At the very least, they had fancier outfits.

And I'm basically explaining kid me like Garou to drive home what an exception DCAU!Batman is to the norm. Batman doesn't just fight crime, he scares criminals into not fighting at all. He sings the blues. He even flirts with the supervillains coughbirdsofpreycough. He quite clearly enjoys what he does, AND takes it seriously instead of bungling it like those annoying kid heroes.

It's not just a case of wish fulfilment, it's just plain gratifying to see someone who relies on their brain as much as truth, justice and the American way to win.

He's practically a supervillain who happens to like Gotham, is what I'm saying.

...

The other exception is The Iron Giant. And given all the differences from the book(s), I'd argue he's basically like Gamora: A kaiju who just happens to be friendly

It's pretty normal for someone who's dying to make their peace with it, but for the family members not to be okay with it. You'd be surprised how many times people are on life support and the family just can't bring themselves to say goodbye.

On a related, jumpchain-not-related note, when you guys write out a will, you should make a living will as well, so that if something happens to you, your wishes will be followed instead of being deferred to family members that may not do as you wish. Situations make people think irrationally, no matter what was agreed to in advance.
>>

>...I don't have childhood heroes
Me neither. I have plenty of characters I like, but I've never been able to idolize someone or look up to them.
>>
>>51454919
I know. But its an exacerbating circumstance to add onto Peter's mistake. This isn't someone who died young, nor did they die in fear, afraid to leave the world. This is someone who was fine with it, who had been around a long time and accepted her fate. Then, there's not even the worry that she's unhappy or suffering or non-existent, you know for a fact she's in the afterlife and she told you herself to move on.

While even then it could be understood why someone would react selfishly and counter to this, it makes it even worse for them to do so, and especially when they're someone who is meant to be strong of character like a superhero.

That's actually been my idea/solution for a lot of worlds.
The Presidency doesn't have as much power as people would like to think. Unless you had borderline mind control level charisma, it can still take forever to get any traction.

But, you can have full control over you own corporation and can make changes to the world almost immediately. Why push a green energy bill, when you can just build and sell super cheap and ultra efficient solar panels yourself. Want to lower oil consumption? Produce super capacitors for pure electric cars that cost less then half the price for current motor vehicles.
One of my ideas for DC is to build a business empire so powerful that I can forcefully buy all of LexCorp, if not force it to go bankrupt.
>>
>>51456056
Things like this is why I'm glad I took that Fanfiction drawback to slide myself into universes that make a bit more sense. Like in one fic it turns out Mephisto was making everyone incapable of curing bullets just for the sole purpose of ruining the universe via Peter Parker luck. But that's neither here nor there.
