How do I capture the feel of a rock opera in my tabletop gaming?

That's a very good question, anon.

By making sure your players are into it, that's a must. Otherwise, nothing will help.

I was thinking that. I wish there was a way I could impartially judge the choices they make while singing their actions to determine the success or failure. Could you imagine if, for combat, you just start up a 4-7 minute instrumental piece and the group just freestyle singing to eachother what they're doing, and that actually being the primary mechanic?
Isn't Exalted kinda like that, where your success is determined by how batshit crazy you describe your intended action?

I always thought I was the only one who noticed they were the fucking same.

They even have "The Attackers" in the new video for Light up The Night.
The Protomen love the shit out of that movie.

>Singing as primary mechanic
I mean, sure, if you know that your players actually can sing and improvise at the same time.
>Isn't Exalted kinda like that, where your success is determined by how batshit crazy you describe your intended action?
Not really. You get a small bonus if you describe your action well, craziness is not required.

I don't know enough singers, but I know enough okay-ish musicians who play that make me really want to run a game like this that is also a jam session.

I found out about the video yesterday and now I have a mighty need for a full live-action movie of Act 2, complete with Protomen music and lyrics into the dialogues.
But I know we'll never get it.
And Act 3 isn't getting closer, is it?
