The non-drop pod Sternguard join the Inquisitor and ride up in the Chimera. Classic Chimera (Listbuilder DOESN'T support Inquisition, only IA, so I couldn't list the 5-fire-point one). Acolytes help protect the psykana division, which spends the game summoning daemons. Everything else is pretty self explanatory. Vanguard Vets in the Stormraven, remove kebab all over. The one place I'm really lacking still is anti-AV14 (besides the Stormraven, knight sword, and thunder hammers); any suggestions to shore that up?

Sup /tg/. I just had a 3000 point game today against my buddy, where we both brought Castellans. I talked with him beforehand and let him bring both Space Wolves and Dank Angles in it, although he did go a little far and brought mechanicus with him too. He had a list where he brought 6 different Armies of the Imperium including Imperial Guard, Mechanicus, Deathwatch, Dark Angels, Space Wolves, and Sisters of Battle. He also had a LEVIATHAN named Ranulf Threadcutter, and an identical loadout to FATMAN.

My list consisted of my Space Marines and Rough Riders, but I also brought some Custodians in an Emperor's Shield. My army had like 30 Rough Riders forming the core of it, along with 5 scout squads, 2 scout squads, a Librarian and a Chaplain(as a dreadnought), and 10 Honour Guard.

And here's my buddy's Leviathan. On turn 1 his leviathan dropped right next to my Sternguard's razorback and blew it right the fuck up, while also tagging one of my Rough Rider squads to half-strength. He also blew up my only Vindicator with a shitload of haywire.

On my first turn, I dropped FATMAN right next to Belisarius Cawl, and his copious amount of guns completely deleted Cawl's retinue of breachers. The entire rest of my army NOPED THE FUCK AWAY from the Leviathan that was now on my right flank, while I sent my Custodians to try and heroically delay it!

To our surprise, the Custodians managed to hold back the Leviathan Ranulf for FOUR TURNS STRAIGHT. The fuckers just wouldn't die, even with only 2 storm shields in the unit.

Saint Celestine apparently is stupidly good at killing Rough Riders. On turn 2 she shot, charged, and solo'd my second RR squad, all 10 of them.

My Leviathan charged Belisarius on turn 3, and ended up locking combat with him while only dealing a single wound. On my opponent's turn, Saint Celestine Solo'd my third RR squad, leaving me with only 3 rough riders left in my entire army.

The entire remainder of the game was sadly just mop-up for him as my army was then in shambles, and I couldn't bring enough firepower to bear to burn down Celestine. She's just TOO effective of an ablator, and requires an obscene amount of firepower just to deal damage to her.

Are there any good roman themed chapters of space marines?

I kinda like the look of the Ultramarines. I don't understand why they aren't purple though considering that is considered the color of the Roman Empire.

So one thing I haven't quite looked in to (I really need to read me some BA books) is what is The Flaw? My friend said BA already had the Black Rage and it was Sanguinius that kept it in check... but the Black Rage manifests as trapping a Blood Angel in memories of the Horus Heresy, making the marine think he is Sanguinius himself. I know they always had the Red Thirst and I thought that was the flaw and the Black Rage came later after Horus gave Sanguinius a tickling. Which is it?

How many points do you want to play at? You could start with just one and play Kill Team if you're new to the hobby, since with only Reavers and Hellions you'd be forced to play Unbound anyway.

The Archon's a general-purpose HQ. He can be given a blaster to add some more anti-tank to the squad you put him in and can take a huskblade to surprise instagib enemy units without 2+ armor, as well as a shadowfield to tank hits if you're ballsy.
The Succubus fights better, and on a tighter budget, but has fuck all for shooting. Either will work, but if in doubt an Archon is easier to build around.

Death masque deserved more in pages IMHO, the narrative had all the elements to build a good story (the assault on port desmus, the harlequins stealing stuff, discovery of coelia, Eldrad plan etc etc) if not a standalone book.

They are good, it's just a bit of a pain because in squads they are quite survivable but they have to shoot at whatever your squad shoots at unless you want to waste an order.

But on the other hand, by themselves a squad of autocannons/lascannons can rape face, but they are quite vulnerable and will be focussed so you need to get into decent cover with them.

They are quite good if you can spare a vet team with forward sentries and camp them in some ruins, but you still only get one team. My favourite thing to do is take sergeant Harker, Autocannon squad, 3 sniper rifles and forward sentries. Then you camp them in some decent cover. It's pretty expensive for what it is, but it is quite fun and survivable if they dont get targeted with ignore cover.

Unless you're using a $20 airbrush and a tire for an air source, a permanent airbrush setup will be $100-150+ for tank compressor and $100+ for a decent midrange brush.

I used to use Vallejo, but the black kept clogging up in the airbrush. The grey and white were fine though.

I've switched to Badger "stylenrez" for my black primer.

Both work great as brush-on primer too, if you happen to live in a climate not conducive to rattlecan priming.

The Fall of Cadia book is like 75% campaign text with some pictures and little boxes of vox messages and character's thoughts during the story. It's the best "campaign book" for the actual campaign GW has released so far but it's not as good as FW stuff. The campaign books up till now have just been glorified rulebooks but Fall of Cadia is actually a real campaign.

Vallejo white blocks my airbrush constantly.

I spray fucking GW base paints through it and it doesn't block, but I spray one thing white and it clogs.

When I had my Vallejo primer white (I think that's what it was called?) it clogged up the fucking bottle, but their dead white runs through my 30 euro airbrush just fine. Meanwhile the first time my airbrush clogged was when I ran GW white through it.
