My streetsam's shitty apartment is neither unique nor comfy; it is much the same as all the other shitty apartments in his building, perhaps with one important difference: his shitty apartment only has 1 illegal Aztlan immigrant living in it.

Hi, /srg/!

So I stated the conventional Tomahawk missile in Shadowrun 5E for fun also because I plan on throwing one at my players for laughs.

I had to base it off of something in the book, obviously. I figured that high explosive rockets would be the military standard for explosives put into rockets/conventional warheads. Because Shadowrun doesn't actually have a weight system, let's pretend that 1 rocket equals 1 kilogram because that makes it easy.

An HE rocket deals 21 damage, -2ap, and -2/m. Because of how explosives work in Shadowrun 5E is Rating = DV, which would mean that an HE rocket contains 1 kilogram of rating 21 plastic explosives.

Doing a basic search, the weight of the charge located in the warhead of a Tomahawk missile is exactly 450 kilograms. That means that a Tomahawk warhead has 450 kilograms of Rating 21 explosives. According to the rules of Shadowrun, the damage value of an explosive is the Rating of the explosive times the square root of the number of kilograms used rounded down. Square root of 450 (rounded down) is 21.

This means that a Tomahawk missile would have a DV of 441, with -2ap, and -2/m. But this gets better.

The rules of Run & Gun, page 176 state that a large enough explosion creates a background count. So far, the highest statted explosion is 25kg of rating 25 explosives that does 80 DV with a background count generation of 3.

Background count increases to by 1 for every 20 points of DV over 35 but it caps out at 3 for normal explosives unless you put "exotic matierls" like a dirty bomb, chemical weapons, astral bacteria. If you decide to do that, then the background count of the detonation would be 20. If it kills anybody, it would create a permanent background count of 20. That means that a 441 meter mana void.

TL;DR: A Tomahawk missile in Shadowrun would have a damage value of 441. If built in a special way, can create mana voids.

Yeah, but it would be outside of the hands of most runners so why bother with it?

>his shitty apartment only has 1 illegal Aztlan immigrant living in it.
Ironically, immigrants from Aztlan is not really a problem in the Sixth World and you don't need to worry about them taking your jobs or whatever because they already completely and totally control a significant portion of the global economy and probably provide you with half of everything you eat and use in daily life.
Instead people have massively more immediate and legitimate reasons to fear Mexicans crossing the border because they are much more likely to do so with a very large army and with very advanced weapons and magical support.

So basically instead of angry southern white people hating on Mexicans for stealing their jobs they hate on them for being mortally afraid of their lives of them.

My Decker's apartment is in a spot where buildings are terrifyingly tall but horizontal space is at a painful premium (Montpellier homebrew setting), meaning most cheaper residences are a bit like upscaled coffin-hotels turned on their end: Two floors connected with a metal ladder inlaid into the wall, with just enough room for an average human to lie down (trolls might get away with it if they lay down corner-to-corner). Pretty much every square inch of floor has something on it, and cleaning is a matter of being very careful with a hand-vacuum and duster.

The real nice part is that parking-spaces also have the same design-principals: Cars are held in place with mechanical clamps and tilted until they're vertical, so as to squeeze every bit of space possible out of parking-lots (if a car isn't able to be tilted or if the owner wants his ride to always be ready, residents can pay extra for a more conventional parking-space).

Is this a functional build for a Decker that can hold his own in a fight to a basic degree? 3 is a little low to start with in Pistols, but having a 9-AGI cyberarm knocks the dicepool up to 12 (14 with smartgun-enabled firearms and cybereyes), along with Jazz and cyberware to knock initiative and armor/physical-resist up a touch.

>>51380901

Well, I'm pretty sure the game doesn't have any big missiles that has stats aside from just hand-wave instadeath like the Thor shots.

I can see a ton of useful reasons for it, actually. Say they do a run against the military and they raise some alarms, and once the military decides that there is nothing they can do to stop the crazy ass runners from stealing something they don't want getting out they just launch a Tomahawk at them.

Anybody with a standing navy could have these, like how the UCAS apparently has a Nuclear Carrier off the coast of Seattle.

Tomahawks are great missiles, so I wouldn't be surprised if they just simply improved on the internals and just kept pumping them out.

>Lifestyles edition: Tell me about your runner's crib, and any nice little touches that make it unique and comfy.

My Lifestyle is Medium.
I live in loft in the Elven District of Downtown Seattle, which has a workshop for my computer-making bits and a community rooftop garden nearby so my food is a bit better then average.
It definitely costs more then a Low Lifestyle, but everyone in the neighborhood thinks I'm just a "Matrix security contracting specialist" (which I guess I technically am, just on the other side of the law) and I provide basically free help with the building's Matrix security protocols and help everyone with their computer hardware for free, and thus I don't need to worry much about my neighborhood screwing me over.

I tend to NOT bring my work home with me, just to ensure that my running and living remain as separate as possible for safety and comfort.

Guy is barely a runner at all since he runs what amounts to an entire pirate fleet.
He can assemble a team of runners entirely composed of people who WORK for him, which is not a runner at all really.

Thing is, Kane's turned down the idea of hijacking a military submarine (Source is Used Car Lot from 4e, I think) on the possibility it might contain WMDs and get him in more hot water than even he'd be comfortable with. Utilizing the same logic, the GBU-43 Massive Ordnance Air Blast would be 1,932 DV and, if using exotic materials, would create a background count of 95.

Anons, what would happen in a background count of 95?

Considering making a rat shaman

1. Should I go full mage, mystic adept, or adept?

2. What spells are fitting of a rat shaman? Illusionary I would assume, but anything else? Detection?
>>
>>51381766
I'd say go either mystic adept or adept with adept spell once or twice. Focus on infiltration and detection spells. Illusion isn't a bad idea but you can always just hide in the vents.
>>
>>51381789
I've never been good at making mystic adepts. Any pitfalls I should be wary about? Also, since I'll be picking up the mentor spirit... I assume as a mystic I get to choose one of the advantages? I assume I don't get both.
>>
>>51381834
Honestly the only person I've never seen not mechanically gimp themselves making one is a friend who is a munchkin par excellence. I guess with having to split attention between powers and spells you have less selection overall for accidental trap choices or something.
>>
>>51381834
I do believe you choose only one advantage, yes.

As far as building one, I'm not too great at shadowrun yet (outside of a regular spirit-agnostic physadept, which amounted to 'get improved reflexes 3 and 10+ dice in pistols and go ham').

I'd suggest getting one or two versatile detection spells and dedicating the rest of your PP to boosting your infiltration skills (not getting bonus dice, I mean things like 'fitting through spaces smaller than your head' or 'never leaves footprints.' You can get 12 dice in stealth at chargen, that should be good for a while.)
>>

What would be good concepts for the Dependent negative quality other than the typical "I've got kids at home" ?

My GM wants to play around with it and I think it could be fun, but I really don't see my young dryad face having kids yet.
>>
>>51382056
Disabled or impaired parent could be one. Or even a live in girlfriend/boyfriend. I played a human Decker with a dumb as shit Troll Father she had to take care of constantly. It was pretty fun actually.
>>
>>51382056

>>

I once did it as a low level gambling/BTL debt.

Mostly because the character had the dice to not have to worry about normal addiction rolls most of the time.
>>
>>51382056
Make a step in the other direction, have an elderly parent at home.

Or you have a partner living with you and all the hanky panky keeps you busy.

Or you provide shelter for homeless people or take care of orphans.

Basically anybody who seeks a lot of contact to you without being (too) usefull.

>>
>>51382056
Other than younger siblings/cousins which are effectively the same thing? Well, there's older family relatives as others suggested, perhaps an old teacher if you have the Sensei quality as well. There's also the possibility of that friend or family member who always says he's on the verge of a breakthrough that will make him a rich man and you just don't have the heart to tell him it'll never work.
>>
Thanks for the ideas everyone ! I think I'll either go for the elderly parent or >>51382114 if the GM allows it, it's really cool and original.

I can't think of ten spells I'd actually want to have though, I mean...I'd be fine with like five. Also, I wouldn't know what I could decrease in order to afford it.

I'm comfortable with the idea that my character isn't going to be a super all powerful mage right out of chargen. Adepts are as far as I dabble in this game concerning magic, so I'm a little out of my element here. I have been looking at the Enchanting rules though, and it sounds kind of cool to have that kind of character.

Question though, can non magic users use your preparations? Or do they have to be a magic user to say activate the command word or something?

Come to think of it, Lelouch would be an awesome face. Lots of mental stats, maxed out con and acting, aspected magician. What spells would he use?
>>
>>51382522
Ah, yes. I keep forgetting to do something about that. The order of operations doesn't play super nice with Chummer's logic for Essence, since you'd technically have to pay for a point of MAG straight away; I may have to code up a special kind of Essence deduction for it, but it's a bit of a mess.

Control Thoughts is an absolute must. I'd actually stat him as a social adept with that as his only spell (via adept spell).
>>
>>51383042
Lelouch (what the fuck kinda name is that supposed to be anyway?) would just be spamming Manipulation psychic spells constantly.
Control Thoughts, Mob Mind, and Influence pretty much cover everything he can do, perhaps with some dips into Compel Truth, Control Emotions and Mob Mood.

He'd likely practice Black Magic as a tradition due to it's heavy emphasis on power, manipulation, and control as well as his utter ruthlessness when it comes to attaining his goals.

I've been having issues with opening files in updated instances of Chummer, is that something unique to me or no? Like I need to keep about two or three iterations of it on my computer since newer PCs who join a game make their sheets in their most recent version.

Also the mentor spirit list is incomplete and someone in my group has Horse but that's just us remembering to use notes. I'm way more concerned about the update issues
>>

>>

While we are on theme about homes and explosions.
What would happen if someone decides to drop a grenade in my house's basement where I keep all my gear? Have around 3-4k rounds of ammo,20 HE and stun grenades, 15 smoke, 10 teargas and few 7seven. Oh and 3 frag rockets.
>>
>>51383524
Its still in char gen mode, I'm helping a new person make their sheet. Is that the problem here? Except the finished PC sheets do the same thing. I'll upload it to mediafire if you want a copy in a bit, I'm trying to fix some other computer issue right now. My antivirus software keeps locking down the latest version when I launch if I hadn't disabled it because it thinks it is unusual, and now everything is fucked up.
>>
>>51383562
Depends what kind of grenade and where it lands.

A fragmentation grenade hitting the floor will shred some stuff but the chance of a chain-reaction of sympathetic detonations caused by shrapnel alone is very low. More potent explosions or grenades landing directly on or next to shit though? That'll level your house, easily.
>>
>>51383357

Honestly I think pretty much anything goes. There's a glitzy side to Shadowrun whereby many bars and clubs will adopt all kinds of crazy themes and weird aesthetics to stand out from the competition. You've got AR to add another dimension, and in some rare cases even astral space might be involved.

>the kid is a chump, it would be as easy to take him out non-lethally as it would be to take him out lethally
What do? I'm not sure what I'd do with my streetsam...maybe he'd kill the kid same as if some random ganger attacked him, but then he was a dumb kid who went into a violent career for reasons that were stupid in retrospect, so maybe he'd knock the kid out and try to explain to him that in the grand scheme of things I'm just a tool that the corps and syndicates use to wage their secret wars against each other and his father was just a man who was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Too much is left out of this description for someone to make an accurate suggestion.

>How did they find out it was you
>Explain what "as part of a job" details. Was he the target, or was he wrong place wrong time security guard?
>What is the streetsams moral compass in relation to killing people on the job? For nonlethal means, or is it dog eat dog?

Answering questions like these help to answer the question itself.

I mean, this could just be the GM going "Hur dur moral dilemma" and there's really no right or wrong answer.
>>
Are there stats for some kind of ape or monkey critter anywhere in 5e? I had this idea with the Shapechange spell to shapeshift into an orangutan every time I get into a gunfight and use my spell hits to pump AGI
>>
>>51384989
Up to you. If you play the amoral hedonist murder-bot street-sam then just kill the fucker and be done with it.

If you play a more moral and sane character that just does things as necessary evils and you try to avoid casualties then explain it, and if he still feels strongly about it, knock him out. If he comes back, hill him.

Or, if you want to retire your character, just let him do it.

If you wanna be cuhrazee, goad him, let him get the first shot off and then kick his ass.
>>
>>51385133
>How did they find out it was you
Let's be honest here: if you're a good shadowrunner, it should be a complete fucking mystery to you because maybe you don't keep your tracks squeaky clean, but you clean them up enough so that no snot-nosed wageslave's kid punk can hunt you down.

That said:
>Explain what "as part of a job" details. Was he the target, or was he wrong place wrong time security guard?
Let's assume a security guard scenario, because if the father is the target then the kid probably has a good idea of who his really enemies are, and by real enemies I mean "the guys who hired you".

>What is the streetsams moral compass in relation to killing people on the job? For nonlethal means, or is it dog eat dog?
That's up to you, as I'm asking this in a "what would your character do" context.
>>
>>51385284
>I had this idea with the Shapechange spell to shapeshift into an orangutan every time I get into a gunfight

Or a chimp, or some other kinds of ape or monkey. Anything with the dexterity to hold a gun.

>>
>>51385482
Free stats.
>>
>>51385482
My AGI is awful and every hit on the spell roll let's you increase one physical stat of your critter form by 1.
Eg. If I get some kind of ape form with 2 AGI and get 4 hits, I now have a physical form with 6 AGI, not the 1 my real form has.
Also I kinda assumed shapeshifting into a different type of metahuman wasn't allowed
>>
>>51385482
>>51385546
Besides that, I also have the added hilarity of playing a monkey running around in body armour with a big gun.
>>
>>51385340
OH, you're asking as a thought experiment. I thought this happened to you.

Its been a while since I've played a murderhobo streetsam. If I could knock the kid out I'd probably try to talk to him. Explain that it wasn't anything personal, wrong place, wrong time, and by saying that isn't going to bring him back. I mean it's a long shot in order to talk your way out of something like that, but just try to explain the best I could. Tell him that I'm going to knock him out and dump him somewhere safe, but if he decides to come after me again, I'll defend myself this time. Suggest he try to move on and live their life.

Why are the MCT Seven series so expensive but yet so garbage? I just want to get my daughter an intro drone (she's taking after her old man!), but for that price I might as well get her a full-size Pelican and she can have it carry her backpack, or a Renraku Caddy Ammo Drone (probably gonna remove the clip holders before I let her take it out in public, though. The neighbours would get the wrong idea). Hell, for one grand more I can get her a full-on GM Nissan Rotodrone.

Any recommendations? I'm actually kinda leaning more towards a Horizon CU^3. It's small enough to keep her out of trouble, and she'd get a kick out of taking some midair selfies or trying to walk in third-person.
>>
I had an idea to help out my gun kata adept that has max agility and reaction but all of 2 strength:

Shock Spurs. Ranged weapon attachment, costs 500 nuyen, requires melee hardening. A simple action causes small spurs to pop out of the weapon's striking surface, which spark with electricity. These change the weapon's melee damage code to 9s(e) and give it -5 AP. The spurs hold 10 charges, after which they are useless until recharged. While plugged in, they regain 1 charge every 10 seconds. Wireless bonus: Activating the spurs is a free action, and the battery pack charges by wireless induction at the rate of one charge per hour.

Yes, no, maybe?
>>
>>51387963
The CU^3 is a great little drone for what it is, though you'll want to spring for the professional version if she's going to be doing any serious acrobatics with it.

Just carry a Stun Baton in one hand and your gun in the other. Pistol whipping and Stun Batons both use Clubs, so you don't need to double up on skills.

I mean technically in 5e Improvised Weapons like a Pistol/Rifle don't have an attached weapons skill because they neglected to actually state it, but in 4e they used Clubs (except for the Fork and Chain).
>>
>>51388081
I'm pretty sure Run and Gun notes that pistol whipping a bitch uses clubs, and it's hard to dual wield like my favorite action trids if I need to have a stun baton in one hand.

Also, why the fuck does Gun Kata have Opposing Force (Block) rather than Parry? If it's designed around using your pistols for everything, shouldn't it boost the one that uses your clubs skill? I know parrying with a firearm is retarded, even if it's melee hardened, but still.

It *is* her first drone, so I was gonna get her something cheap in case she wrecks it (lord knows I trashed my share as a kid). She would love the extra capability (and dad would love to play with it too while she's at school), but I don't know if I can trust 6000¥ of drone to a middle schooler if she switches it to manual control and crashes it into a tree.

Here's the fixed character sheet. I mean, I was kind of going for some kind of infiltration type of character, but with magic. It did kind of turn out to be focused a lot towards making foci I guess, so I could do that as well. But yeah, I can see your point.
>>

Use advanced text formatting, not whatever that is. Copy/paste to pastebin, then link here.

>It did kind of turn out to be focused a lot towards making foci I guess
... Don't do this. Taking Armourer is ok - if you fuck up with armourer, you might ruin a gun. Fucking up with crafting foci strips you of essence and magic, by which point you might as well just take the PC out behind a shed and top them.
>>
How useful is a character that's just 100% Infiltration and movement abilities?
>>
>>51388883
How often does the GM spring combat onto the team, or make it a required part of the game?
>>
>>51388918
Absolutely no idea. This is a new group, and we've got a Summoner, Decker/Rigger, Leader/Face/Gunslinger, an Orc or Minotaur Bounty Hunter, and a Doctor who's also covering mechanics and eventually 'ware installation.

We appear to be missing an infiltrator, primary combat guy, non-spirit Mage, and dedicated Face. I'm not huge on doing faces and magic feels exploity and just too easy, so I've been toying around with doing the other two, but I'm not sure how much combat there'll be since this is ostensibly a black trenchcoat game.
>>
>>51388873
I used the save as PDF function from Chummer and uploaded the file. I thought that was what everyone used?

So you're saying don't allow a PC to actually do the foci making? Because of the process involved...Huh, I guess that makes sense. What do you suggest I spend the 6 group points on in general?

I should probably state, my group is kind of low key when it comes to the game. It's not expected that you have to bring hyper specialized operators to every game, unless it's said before hand that you should. I'm kind of just looking to build a Great infiltrator, with good secondary support skills. Maybe I should get some more spells, and possibly go some kind of medic route?

>What do you suggest I spend the 6 group points on in general?
I suggest dropping back to Skills B for 5 group points, and putting that into Sorcery. Better yet, a skill group where you're going to use all three skills. Skills A is something of a trap, in that you'll often overreach in trying to use all those skill points, and won't have the attribute points to back it up.

Possibly also deciding between Adept and Mage, because it's easier to build for.

Also, if you insist on the Colt Agent Special, get a backup clip of Capsule Rounds for Light Pistol ranges. Otherwise you're only able to shoot targets at Taser ranges. Automatics are still generally the better choice.

Pink mohawk: punks doing fun things. Exploading cars, mad chases and body count in the dozen. Think action movie.
Shades/Black Threnchcoat: The super realistic tacticool operators. By the end of the run the corps wont even know it happend. Think gritty realism.
For both just imagine what type of person would wear this things and you would mostly get it.
On a side note if I wanna use some kind of inspirarion for good roleplaying do i stick to edge regain or think of something else?
>>
>>51391561
Pink Mohawk => Focus on (over the top) action with the preparation for said action taking a back seat; think 'the expendables' or 'The A-team'

Black Trenchcoat => Focus on planning, preparation, covering all your angles and misleading the opposition before and after the run, with the action itself taking the backseat; think 'Ocean's Eleven' or 'The Italian Job'.
>>
>>51391561
As far as I understand it there are two axis:
>pink - black
>Mohawk - Trenchcoat

The first gives the types of characters in the game. If all of you are normal persons who just do their jobs to are black. If you are specials, that stand out due to their actions, appearance or connections you are pink

The second axis is more about how serious you are/how much you plan. A trenchcoat team would plan and prepare a lot, to make the actual run go smoothly. A Mohawk team would just go in mostly blind

The most common are Black Trenchcoat and pink Mohawk (and this most characters are on a line between then), but black Mohawk and pink trenchcoat also exist

As with most things the extremes should be avoided
To black trenchcoat and you basically plan to much. It leads to stuff like "don't kill any guards or your life is ruined" or "if you don't have 2e59 R6 Fake SINs you are shit
To much pink Mohawk and it gets silly, no consequences
>>
>>51391561

Pink Mohawk: Played like an over the top action movie. High adrenaline, no fucks given, consequences gone by the wayside. Carchases without getting swatvanned or attack choppered, or fucked up by too much backlash.
Hotline miami or any of the fast furious movies.

Black Trenchcoats and Mirrorshades (aka mirrorshades). Slick moving professionals that oughta dress like matrix agents. No drag, slick ops, usually 'realistic' consequences and simulationist-driven storybuilding where details can come back to haunt players. The kinda game where its a more serious heist atmosphere meets tradecraft. Perhaps oceans series minus silly moments, or leverage for the same. Johnny mneumonic done serious. Dial 0, ask for Operator jokes.

This leads to occasional mixups of terminology like pink trechcoat(semi-serious but action when its needed) or double mohawk.(when one mohawk is not enough to describe what you're doing).

Basically its a handy ballpark for not just the flavor of the game, but hints at the gming style, what to expect - and what's appropriate to bring to on your sheet, chummer.

For example: as homework, to calibrate your mohawk detector, please take a look at this character sheet and respond to this post saying what style of game it would fit into appropriately.

Ok, I gotcha. "Pink Mohawk" is more rule of cool, and "Black Trenchcoat" is real world=real consequences

But isn't this less of an issue with the GM's interpretation of the world, and more in line with the fluff that "shadowrunners are all kinds" ?

I mean, if you've got a runner team thats got a teenage decker screaming "hack the planet" and a former corporate security wetworks specialist - you have your two divisions right there.

I thought this was an intentional design idea in 4th ed? The whole concept that in the 2070's, being a shadowrunner is part of popculture - its cool. As such, you have this division between the old guys, the professionals, and the new kids, the ones drunk on the romanticism of living the life of an action trid.

The answer is yes.
Both mohawks and shades exist and there are sometimes teams of both. Thats why most games are in the midle.
But the gm is there to tailor the game for best storytelling and maximum fun. If your players are all shades the jobs and world shifts to match the tone of the game. Same for mohawks
>>
>>51391693
Not really, dude. It's a matter of the tone of GMing.

Come to think of it, there was an asian movie I gave up trying to find a while ago. It's about a guy who wants to win a martial arts tournament. He trains by punching a concrete wall and other crazy stuff, but gets his ass handed to him in the last fight, which pretty much ends with him headbutting the other guy's fist hard enough to break it. That was a good mix of mohawk and consequences, but I haven't found it outside of a chinese bootleg cd.

In one of my campaigns my players share a villa on the French riviera, the street sam bedroom being pretty standard, the shaman bedroom being a weird mess of dreamcatchers and various magical junk and one matress trown on the floor with a sleeping bag. They also have a garage with a workshop for the sam's drones, bike and car.

In my other campaign, the face/medic lives in a comfy house full of cameras in the outskirts of Monza, the razorboy lives in a former swimming pool with his dolphin friend, the street sam lives in his car and the decker lives in a warehouse with his gang.

If anyone remembers the tales of my drug addict Face\Gunslinger, this is his apartment...

>Corey's apartment is 1C, the ground floor. It contains a garage with a handy stairway into the apartment. 1C is also a studio, and only partitions separate the various rooms. Corey's upped the security, including multiple AR cameras, Biometric door and garage locks (all AR controlled), all thresholds guarded by tag scanners (connected to AR alerts), and hefty security bolts.

>Inside, the walls are AR controlled, to display either paint that enhances incoming light, or vistas (if the outside weather sucks) The carpet is also made with AR controlled light shift fibers, so the carpet color can match the walls. Several robots monitor the security systems, climate control the apartment, & keep it clean by vacuuming, washing, and picking up stray clothes\items. The food processor can make just about anything, and it tastes pretty good, with an AR controlled alert for any Krill or Seafood.
>Other appliances: washer\dryer, dishwasher, fridge, soykaf maker.

>House Processor is set to wake at 8AM, instantly display local weather, tint walls to let in as much light as possible, and tune the trid into stock reports, urban brawl reports, firearm design discussions, and whatever Amelia Rain movie is currently playing. Soykaf maker set to be ready at 8AM, and food processor to prep protein waffles with breakfast staples. All with soft music on and playing through the houses virtual surround sound. All priority Commlink calls are set to override the house network and display through any convenient sources (trid, walls, etc). House processor is primarily interacted with via the Amelia Rain virtual person program.
>The wake process does not occur if Corey isn't there.

Amelia Rein is a trid actress that my Face\Gunslinger has a waifu crush on. Thats just half of what I wrote.

Okay now I have players who plan a fucking lot, but their plans always involve explosions (the distraction kind or the destruction kind) or other shit like glue bombs. I tend to put dire consequences on their actions but they respond to this with even more balls-to-the-wall plans. Recently they had a team on their ass. I used PR6 mook profiles (the "Azlaner" commandos in the NPC section) to try to get them, but they killed them. 1) Get decker to hack into site's comm network

2) Get decker to spoof your commlink to appear to be the security director

2b) Either get cheap small drones or, if the Decker still has low Overwatch, get them to get into the security sensors. Set off sensors first so alert goes out, then get on the comms and direct people to that area (especially enemy mages/highly augged dudes/paracritters and other major threats)

3) Get the infiltrator to find the real security director and stab the shit out of him so he can't contradict you

Change it up by pretending to be a wageslave trapped in a closet by a colleague going psycho, a belligerent Lone Star patrol pursuing a criminal who insists on meeting site-security in person, a visitor who got lost and is now accidentally in a high-security area, etc.

The bigger question, of course, is "can I do something worthwhile with this."

In most cases, it's at best a cheap way of tracking somebody because they're probably not going to protect all their random stuff, but just as easily, it can be thrown (or turned off if a guy's paranoid about being followed via pants).

For the Tiger, you could do something about the Ruthenium, so that might be useful or might not. Depends on how you're tracking the guy.

It's about active foci, not just possessed ones. So if you have 30 force between your tattooed and normal foci, but only ever use 5 force at a time, your Magic 5 ass won't get addicted to focus use.

But have 7 force worth active at once and then you're going to have to check for addiction. (I'm assuming that you don't go cold turkey on all foci at that point.)

so in SR4e I'm going to be playing an elf banshee

in keeping with the loads of discussion on pink mohawk / black trenchcoat, this game is probably going to tend towards black mohawk. action but with consequences.

how should I deal with being a banshee? yes I know most banshee become literal retards but using runner's companion you can actually play them, which imho leads to sort of a blade situation? he's a smart/sentient elfvampire, is where i'm getting at

how would you handle feeding? the other players?

I'm running him as a hacker/decker who got unfortunately bit and has to life with it but he's also got the compulsion: combat monster, so probably once he's in combat its gonna be composure tests not to go gun down and eat people

what is defined as being dead dead? just heart stopping, brain stopping? when does the essence leave your body?

tho I guess i could use flechete rounds, kneecap people and feed while they're mostly kinda alive. less resistance and the added benefit they dont develop a fetish out of it and stalk me for more

You need to rethink your fundamental approach to Shadowrun.
It would take too long to say exactly how much your character depends on being special and edgy instead of having a more relatable character, how much you'll piss off the other players and how your character is written like an edgy animu main character instead of a character who can actually meaningfully interact (and cooperate) with the other runners, so I'll shorten it down.
You really seem to have a funky grasp of exactly what roleplaying is, how group balance works and that you're playing with other people.
Calm down, for fuck's sakes. I understand that it's easy to get excited when you first start roleplaying, but you need to remember that you're not playing the main character. You need to make a character, at least on your first few tries, who actually has a reason to cooperate with the other runners without harming them, who doesn't depend on GM fiat, who doesn't have their specialness (or martyr complex) as a main character trait, and in general one that fits in with the setting and the group so that they can meaningfully roleplay instead of getting a mangled impression of roleplaying from playing GM-fiated edge monsters with Combat Monster.

For a rigger character, aiming for a drone army (and therefore forgoing the control rig in favor of a good RCC), would the following options be viable?

1. Getting a Horizon CU^3 and have it follow her around, directly connected to her datajack via the included 1m cable.
2. Using the CU^3 as her primary means of self-defence via a light pistol mount with stick-n-shock (assuming this is for going down the street to the stuffer shack - going on runs means bringing out 3-4 rotodrones with alphas).
3. Completely ignoring the perception skill, instead relying on the CU^3's sensors and her Electronic Warfare skill.
>>
>>51398242
my group consists mostly of new players to shadowrun who barely know the setting, some of which seem to barely care about the setting and make all sorts of characters.
you seem to be making tons of shit assumptions on all sorts of things. ofc i didnt sum up my whole character background because we all have other things to do. this is nowhere near a "main character", i'm mostly gimping myself by spending so much points on banshee which gives no direct input or help to what my character does, which is some stealth/infiltration and mostly hacking in general.

so far we don't even have a reason for the group to stick together so yeah, I don't currently have reasons to cooperate with the others as I don't know who they even are.

I don't see how playing a banshee infected player so thoroughly steps me into the dark and edgy shitlord PC type when its a background choice for him, to distinguish him from yet another hacker mcgee who's an urchin and learned how to hacking by browsing deep nodes, which I guess is exactly what you'd have me create instead?

3. Make sure to upgrade the sensors so that it has more visual options (and possibly other options) so that you can see more.
>>
>>51398450
I figure the 1m is probably good enough for day to day things, but it's not like a 3m cable is that expensive. 2 and 3 are givens. Standard setup would probably be a camera (flare comp, low-light, thermo), omnidirectional mic (select sound), directional and laser mics (select sound), ultrasound, radar, vision magnification, and maybe an olfactory scanner - all at a rating equal to the sensor array of course.

What's the average flight time on a minidrone anyway? Is it ever stated?

Question since I'm new:

I've seen other anons like yourself posting here without an ABCDE priority, but so far as I can tell from chummer you have to have one of each. Are there rules for doing what you've done or is that just a common house rule that people are using?
>>
>>51398349
Don't you need a control rig anyway?
>>
>>51398594
Sum to Ten. I don't remember what book it's in, google it.
>>
>>51398594
They are using Sum-To-Ten
Every priority gets a number (E:0, D:1, C:2, D:3, A:4)
you then have to chose your priorities so that in total they add to 10
should be in run faster IIRC
>>
>>51398594
There's an alternative chargen method called sum-to-ten, which works like this:

Priority A is 4 points. B is 3, C is 2, D is 1, and E is 0. As long as you have 10 or less points spent after selecting your priorities, you're good. It's a little more flexible than prioritygen.

>>51398599
Nah, only if you want to jump in. You give up some bonuses from the rig, but a RCC lets you command multiple drones with a single action, and you can run autosofts on it that go beyond what your drones can normally handle.

Lets say you've got 3 MCT-Nissan Rotodrones with Ares Alpha mounts. Normally these can only run rating 3 autosofts for maneuvering and targeting, since their pilot rating is 3. The RCC lets you run up to rating 6, and share one copy of each autosoft between all your drones (though you still need specific model/weapon autosofts - a Nissan Rotodrone Maneuvering soft is useless for a steel lynx, for example).

They'd only have 9 dice for targeting unless you upgrade their pilot programs, but between full-auto fire and having 4 of them, it should be OK.

How the fuck did you not see sum to 10 as an option in character creation? Do you not think? Do you not seek out things?

Do these two things actually sound similar to you?

It's not in the core book. Chill out, chummer.

Bad day?
>>
>>51398762
>>51398767
It's literally right fucking there in Chummer. The only possible way he could not know about it is if he didn't look at the dropdown method, which is blatantly clearly false since he already talks about not using an ABCDE priority when Chummer locks you into karmagen unless you change to priority.

What version does it list in the titlebar?

Hey Yekka, I think I may have found a bug. Really minor: the Directional Microphone sensor seems locked to 1 capacity no matter it's rating. I have various drone setups with omnidirectional/directional/laser mics, all rating 3, and the directional mic throws a fit when I try to put in a select sound filter and rating 2 audio enhancement. Neither of the other mics seem to care. Not sure if this is intentional.
>>
>>51398893
You may have to check boxes for books to use. I would assume if you're not using the book with Sum to Ten in it (Run Faster?) it wont show up as an available choice.

When I first installed Chummer, none of the boxes except core was checked, so it took me a few minutes to figure out why I had so few options.
>>
>>51399415
Wrong. I unchecked absolutely everything, and even used a fresh .exe.... and wouldn't you know it, sum to 10 was there.
>>
With the bug promotional pen, Chummer5 forces placing sensor functions, when it has 2 capacity for sensors. (ie; 1-2 rating 2 single sensors at 200¥ each)

Outside of narco and pharma+ grade drugs are there any ways to lower the duration of negative effects from drugs?
Nephritic Screen got my hopes up but it lowers only the duration of the drug itself.

What is the best Reaction/Initiative augs? Whats the down sides? Are there any traps to look out for? Clever combos? Never ran a street sam till now. Playing 5e. Im also curious about how to make a good brawler/grappler or if i should just shoot shit

Nope, the only build method that's locked behind an option is life modules. Thing is, having Karma and Priority enabled ONLY would indicate that the build version is like... 5.142 or something.
>>51399314
Directional Microphone is the Sensor Function. Microphone, Directional is the sensor audio device.

>>
>>51399985
>brawler/grappler
Why do you use a slash as if those are interchangeable terms?
>>
>>51400063
Regarding the microphone: I'm adding sensor functions - the camera, omnidirectional microphone, and laser microphone all have 1/[1] capacity, and it increases (to 2/[1] and 3/[1] and so on) as I increase the rating. The directional microphone stays locked to 1/[1] no matter what rating it is. I can add video/audio enhancements to the other sensor functions normally, it's just the directional mic that's broke.

Also, has radar been removed from sensor functions? Can't find it anywhere in 5.189.53.

>the best

depends on your aim

Wired Reflexes + wireless reaction enhancers for highest hard reaction possible (Wheelman, Meleefighter abusing Riposte)

Synaptic Acceleration for the most essence friendly

Move-by-Wire when FAST is not fast enough and essence is overrated.

Drugs if w/e, feel free to combine them with the stuff above.

MBW 5e is for when you just want a flat, reliable initiative score, and (GM pending) the option to keep using drugs.
>>
>>51399985
Are you sold on street sam? Because a physadept can get pretty baller reflexes, a stupid dicepool for unarmed (or your skill of choice) and some other neat toys like combat sense and killing hands/nerve strike.
