Kindly no End Times or Age of Sigmar. If that is your cup of tea, please go elsewhere, especially if you're just going to shill or troll. For all intents and purposes, it's not the same universe.

What are the rules for Drowning in WFRP 2e?

I'm looking at the rulebook and can see the Suffocation rules, but are there encumbrance rules for drowning? For example, does heavy armor make swimming more difficult? Can you shed trappings/armor/encumbrance points in order to escape drowning?

There are in-depth rules for it in the Warhammer Companion, I think in the river life section.

How do you play with Omens?

The first spell of the Lore of the Heavens in WFRP 2e is "Omen," which allows a wizard to divine the future... How much information should I give a player during an omen?
>>
>>51381963
Clues. Different futures, misleading ones and true ones all mixted up.
>>
>>51381963
Don't give any information to them straight. Anything you give should be vague - a sense of danger, a feeling of dread, a faint current of hope - or something that has to be interpreted. Instead of saying 'the undead will attack the Garden of Morr,' have a vision of a skeletal raven landing on a gravestone and rotting dead hands reaching through the bars of an iron fence to try and get inside of something.

I was wondering about this. Seemed too punishing.

What I'm thinking is degrees of success like from Call of Cthulhu 7.

>Intelligence is 30. You roll a 29.
You get a vague sense of dread (maybe give them Sixth Sense for one in-game hour).

>Intelligence is 30. You roll a 15.
Some weird vision. Taking the Garden of Morr example: you see a Raven behind a locked gate, a skeletal hand reaching through the bars for it.

>Intelligence is 30. You roll a 5.
Something very pertinent to the quest -- like you have a vision of zombies attacking the Priests of Morr.

As a new Bret player, for a 1500-2k points game... is it worth taking Questing & Grail Knights? I honestly want more heavy Peasants, so I"m thinking that both units would be too point heavy.

Also do Bret players advise just keeping to 5 units for Questing and Grails? I never see units of anymore than 5 at a time?

>>

Grail Knights? Yes, though you best be careful with them as your opponent will throw all its magic and shooting at them whenever possible and turn your unit into a point sink.

I never found a real use for Questing Knights. Sure they have Great Weapons but they also strike last, have less armour and cost more. If you want a unit to stick in combat for more than a single charge I'd just buy a tonne of Men at Arms.

I'd also recommend having at least 6 to form a Lance, maybe a couple more if you want to throw a Damsel in there.

I see Warhammer Quest is getting another expansion.

Does anyone here own a copy? I just wanted to know how infested with AoS shite it was. I used to love the old version and Heroquest but I hate AoS's lore and without going into too much detail I want to replace all the non-WHFB heroes with an appropriate equivalent.
>>
>>51387423
Lance formation can be used by knights of any stripe. Actual lances aren't needed. The rules don't represent it, but you should imagine it like the unit has wedged itself into the foe, the 'tip' of a lance that pierces an enemy.

They can surprise you. In one game I had a group of Men at Arms take a Saurus Cavalry charge, break and chase them down into a Saurus block, break them and chase them into a unit of Salamanders, who they then killed. They did better than my knights in that game.
>>
>>51388203

Well I can't speak for anyone else here but yes I do quite dislike AoS lore.

However, the rules have potential and I think Warhammer would have made a good skirmish game so on that front I quite like AoS.
>>
>>51388405
>>AoS lore
What's that?

But in all seriousness, Warhammer already had a skirmish game. But back when AoS was just rumours I thought it would have been a small scale game based on the Sigmar book series. With fewer models as fights were smaller, outside of the huge battles with Chaos and Nagash.
>>
>>51388493

Yeah Warhammer Skirmish was alright but it was always a side-show to the main game and for that was unfortunately hidden away from most people. Updating it in a hardback wouldn't have hurt either.

We'll see what the second edition (4th?) of the Generals Handbook offers before I completely write off AoS.

Something that I really like about WFB is that it seems to make sense. It feels like a grounded world in a way I can't describe, where most fantasy settings seem full of vagaries
>>
>>51389852
The early writers were all historians.

It wasn't until those faggots who grew up playing the game got hired as writers that it all went to shit. But as much as they were able to run amok in 40k, their touch was always light with Fantasy.

What they did with AoS is basically what they did with 40k.
>>
>>51389852
It certainly has over the top elements, but there are a lot of things keeping it grounded. Its politics, strategy of armies, relations between foreign and domestic powers, etc. Helps that it doesn't go so over the top where the newest heroes are going into space, becoming Super Saiyans and fighting Space Satan or whatever. It's a setting where the rules matter, and adding things in for 'rule of cool' often detract from it rather than add to it.

Right. You can imagine a normal guy going about his day in the Warhammer setting. >>
>>51389924
Mediocre isn't bad.
Its just when there's nothing that really grabs you, gets you excited, makes you want to experience it again.

That's the problem with /v/ and /tv/ folk. If its not 10/10 masterpiece they think its shit. There's varying degrees of quality to works, something has to be completely abhorrent-like Age Of Sigmar-before you should shy others away from it.
>>
>>51389933
One of the things I liked best about the Ambassador Chronicles was how the Knight's Panther character insulted the embassy guards due to their shit performance in an exercise where they had to run around the city five times without breaking a sweat, which the knight did while in full plate.

He said that their faces were redder than a Tilean's ass. Prejudice is a good thing when it comes to world building, or at least I think so.

>>51389954
Fair enough I suppose. I was still pretty hyped when shit was getting real with Nagash forging his crown and getting his shit rekt by Alcadizzar.
>>
>>51388185
Nagash books suffer from being typical gw drivel
Lure of the liche lord has some titbits and liber necris is a must read
>>
>>51389983
Just the fact that that insult exists shows how in-depth the world can be. You have one people over here, and another people over there, and the people over here have developed their own ideas about what the people over there are like, and have worked it into slang and insults. In one short story, an Imperial told a Bretonnian merchant to 'stick to making cheese and seducing married women' after tasting his wine.

Once you try looking at any other fantasy universe and seeing how at best insults are probably some made-up word meant to sound unique, it just won't feel the same.
>>
I have a question for all the lorefags.
how exactly are non-athel loren wood elf forests like?

Total warhammer just makes external forests into level 1 outposts that you use for mining amber.

Generally in Warhammer lore the Wood Elves don't leave Athel Loren other than Orion's yearly Wild Hunt where he just kills Bretonnian civilians for the lulz. They can, using the roots of the world tree, but have almost no reason to.

Kerillian from Vermintide is unique for that exact reason; she's a Wood Elf not in Athel Loren. Same with the character Aenur, Sword of Twilight that Kerillian is based on.
>>
>>51390254
WHFRP has wood elves that live in the Laurelorn forests. As far as I can tell, they have no access to the spirits of Athel Loren, so they have to make do with their own wits. They're like Wood Elves but in a different part of the world.
>>
>>51390294
There are wood elves in the Empire, most notably in Nordland. One criticism of Theodoric Gausser, the Elector Count of Nordland, is that he controls less than half of his province while the elves hold the rest.
>>
>>51390263
I was wondering more like if they were more sophisticated than an outpost with very little independence or more like semi/fully independent realms that have their own glade lords/glade ladies who are autonomous to a huge degree.
>>
>>51390338
With the Laurelorn thing, they're implied to not be related to the Athel Loren elves at all, so they're fully independent, if a smaller community.

I don't think it'd be unreasonable to set up outposts in most forests, however, run by a glade lord who decided he needed to keep a watch over that specific spot for whatever reason. From the brooding pines of Naggaroth to the sweltering jungles of the Southlands.
>>
>>51390397

>>51390307

Tehy're elves that live in the woods, not Wood Elves.

This is specified several times in the codex, as Wood Elves are the price Athel Loren set for saving the Everqueen, a portion of the elves that will be forever bound to it

It IS a Silver Tower of Tzeentch, it's supposed to be located in Realms of Chaos (or phase in and out of them), etc.

Right now my plan is to allow the player to build upward in wood elf outposts so that you can gain more resources by building taller. Elf specific unit buildings and Amber extractors are also buildable to give the player more options instead of mindlessly blobbing around bretonnia and the grey mountains.
Hopefully once the expansion is released I will be able to do more with those buildings on the campaign map.

Kerillian also doesn't WANT to be out of Athel Loren. It's pretty heavily implied that snoo pingas usual got her cursed someho, and she literally has to kill enough rats to lift the curse. >they write a blog on 1 character. Therefore this character is the more accurate than anything CA made.

CA got models from GW to base their units on. Watch the several vlogs they uploaded on youtube. They based the unit design on the tabletop everyone keeps harping on as the true soul of the game when it's convenient.

GW also had creative control over the book >>51392101 and that presumably included it's art design.
>>
>>51392160
>I feel like we had this a million times on this whole board, that doesn't necessarily mean that they are just good-looking humans with pointy ear

But it does, explicitly, mean they're sexually attractive. Hell, even in Vermintide, Kerillian chides Kruber for staring, though he isn't doing it for the reason. First assumed.
>>
>>51392195
>Therefore this character is the more accurate
Does your whole argument depends on things I never said? This whole thing started on calling you out on being a disgusting waifufaggot and your dirty hands soil everything.

>>51392202
>But it does
No, it doesn't. It measn they are attractive, but not neccessarily that they look 100% like a human with some pointy ears added as a gimmick. Is it so hard to comprehend that someone might be attracted to something that doesn't look like a supermodel, but attracts through things like movement, voice, aura? We are talking about a fantasy creature here, but you are really trying hard to make it mundane.
>>
>>51392202
take Mystique from X-Men movies. she's fucking sexy, but nto because she has good forms - those are average - but because she has a blue skin. sorta made of feather-scale-whatevers.

she's attractive precisely because she's so inhuman.
>>
>>51392269
>you are a disgusting waifufaggot.

No, the elves are literally the waifu race because everyone finds them attractive.
>>
>>51392307
Again, I never debated this. This doesn't change the fact that you are a waifufaggot and pandering to you would ruin this fictional race. Go to /e/ and /h/ if you want elves that are nothing but a masturbation-device.
>>
>>51392269
You're literally fighting a strawman by responding to a portion of a sentence. Nothing in the lore suggests elves have to look human, but they are explicitly attractive. This sets some rough upper limit on how strange they must look.

>>51392287
Mystique is actually a fair example of strange but sexy.
>>
>>51392318
>ruin this fictional race.

They literally are waifus. GW authorized CA to make them waifus just like they authorized mythic to make them waifus.

Their other features don't change because they look like waifus.
>>
>>51392348
>Nothing in the lore suggests elves have to look human
So you agree with me? This is what I'm arguing here.

>>51392350
>Orion is a waifu
Well, according to you, get rid of this guy. Who cares. Delete the lore about him, make the wood elves an all female race and also delete all lore that isn't about them fucking human self-insert characters. This is what you want, after all. Dumb them down to something that is all about guys that don't care about lore can stroke their dick to, the rest is unnecassary. Does this sound like a well thought fictional race?
>>
>>51392401
sounds like AoS fluff to me
>>
So, in WFRP 2, a wizard explicitly may not learn more than one Arcane lore. But can they learn a dark lore if they have an Arcane lore? Vampires definitely can (at the Lord career), but they're, well, vampires. Additionally, can a character have the Chaos and Necromancy lore, for example, if they get the mutation that let's them buy a Chaos lore?

>>51392160

Boring answer or not, it must be the right one, since we see a wide bevy of canon art and descriptions that vary across the spectrum of inhumanity. I always personally preferred the idea that wood elves tend to look much less human than high or even dark elves, to emphasize their feral nature. It would also explain why Bretonnians will straight-faced warn sea elves to watch out for the fae if they go near Athel Loren.

nice way to miss the point.

CA represented the complete isolationism and force-of-nature of the wood elves perfectly through their techtree, story events, buildings and campaign startpos,
and they made them look (physically) like waifus.

You can grab a rope and hang yourself.

Annoying neckbeards like you who throw a hissy fit when something changes that is based on their autistic projections of what the lore is supposed to be. CA employed actual GW writers to flesh out the factions and be a part of faction design. I will take their word over yours everday, your autistic screeching nonwithstanding.

>>

>>I never did that.
Exactly, I just called you out on posting the exact same pic every thread, stated my opinion on waifufaggotry and pointed at another video game wood elf that had a different design. You were the one implying some sort of canon design with an appeal to authority.
>>
>>51392604
lame-ass greek mythos never make sense for anything other than greek expies.

WHFB Elves are celtic, Wood Elves moreso. ain't there a celtic god of the hunt?

isn't Ariel older than Alarielle? Ariel led the Asrai from Ulthuan back in the day. Alarielle is just the latest Everqueen, no big deal.
>>
>>51392613
they were King and Mage-Queen of the Asrai. they came to live in Athel Loren, made sorta a pact with it, and lived in peace until a whole lot of orcs showed up and started messing shit up. they were losing badly, so Isha and Curnous told Asurian to stick his non-intervention law where sun doesn't shine and made Ariel and Orion their avatars. now, Ariel was already an extremely powerful archmage, and Orion was already a badass, but now she became directly bound to the whole forest on spiritual level and Orion inspired awesome bloodlust in elves and spirits alike, and so they rallied the elves and spirits and kicked all the orcish ass they could find. the end.
>>
>>51392650
There are more than one person posting on the thread and warhammer fantasy barely has any fanart for it whatsoever.

>appeal to authority

Only, Warhammer woodelves are a GW design and "appealing to authority" works when all secondary and tertiary media are based off GW's IP

It's like saying that a guy brewing a concoction in his back yard has the right to call it coca cola and calling him out on it is an appeal to authority.
>>
>>51392660
I was talking about the names themselves not the personages.

>>51392690

>>
>>51392719
Everqueens are high priestesses. they channel Isha's power, and the whole Everyqueen hive soul shennanigans are Isha's doing, but they are not Isha herself

Ariel and Orion are direct avatars, much like avatars of Vishnu in hinduism. they still retain personality somehow.

To be fair, Vermintide is the best researched Warhammer game by a long way and is quite honestly better researched than a lot of GW's own material. Particularly the more recent stuff.

>>51390232
There are some really nice bits of in-depth worldbuilding in Warhammer. One of my favourites is Averland's sun heraldry.
One of the major gods of the southern Empire was once Söll, a sun god and patron of Solland. He also gave his name to the river Soll. And might have been related to the God of Law Alluminas in some way.
Over time, his worship was supplanted by the Sigmarite cult but the final blow came with Gorbad Ironclaw's invasion of the Empire. He killed the last of the cult of Söll and caused so much destruction that Solland was wiped from the map permanently. The aristocracy of Solland fled to Wissenland and Averland in particular. Once there, they intermarried with the Averland nobility and in that way their heraldry - the image of Söll - became the heraldry of Averland.

Of course, the reason Solland was destroyed was for a relatively obscure meta reason. The first maps of the Empire cut off the province of 'Sudenland' to the south. Pic related.
As a consequence, everyone always forgot that it existed. So they formalised that by just writing it out entirely.

vermintide has a tiny scope since it's a bunch of maps you run around in and whack reddit rats.

Warhammer is a different beast, and places like bretonnia and the empire fit the feelings and sense of the old world perfectly.

Fighting in the rolling plains and sparse woodlands of bretonnia is different than fighting in tunnels and desolation of the badlands.

Vermintide can do a lot of exposition that won't affect the gameplay because the game is not sandboxy in nature and limited in scope.
>>
>>51393408
If I remember right, Sudenland is now a city in the Southlands. Even then, you gotta remember that G&F is old lore, and the reference could be dated. Besides, while Solland is no longer a polity, it is still a recognized place and part of Wissenland, so one might say that such and such was made there.

I like that Vermintide is on such a small scale, because it allows that kind of exploration. Total Warhammer covers the same old stuff everyone knows because it has such a broad scope.
I'd love to see an RPG by Fatshark in the same kind of setting. Something a little less hectic anyway.

>>51393465
Sudenburg is the colony in the Southlands.

>>51393669
It's oriented differently precisely because of the Sudenland problem. The Empire is roughly diamond shaped, so it doesn't fit too well onto a rectangular piece of paper. A lot of the later maps rotate it slightly to avoid cutting off the bottom of Wissenland like on the original map.

Thing is, if you try to do Witcher 3 in The Empire, you're going to have the Skyrim effect. The Witcher 2 covers a ridiculously small area, all things considered, even when scaled down and condensed.

Try to do the same to a whole imperial province, and you've got something that's worse than Skyrim. You know Vermintide? Ãœbersreik is a relatively small city, relatively unimportant city.

The scope of The Old World is huge. Each major province in the Empire is practically a nation in it's own right, and the entirety of the Empire is about as big as the entirety of the real-life Holy Roman Empire. And most of it is a forested hellscape of awful.

When the players go out to greet these heroes... they're captured by the Cult of Ahalt to be sacrificed.

Vermintide makes Ubersreik way too fucking big. The population of Altdorf is only just over 100,000 according to Sigmar's Heirs. Ubersreik only has 3,500. The Ubersreik in Vermintide is a fucking metropolis with a retardedly large bridge.

What are non-destructive type things Daemons can engage themselves in? Surely Chaos isn't so one dimensional that every single thing they do is corrupting, destroying, or bringing about the End Times?

The whole point of Chaos is that its excess, focused to much on one thing.

It does things until it defeats itself or wears itself out.

Ok, let me rephrase that:

Zombies are inefficient against Skavenslaves, which are cheaper than zombies. Investing part of your magic phase to tarpit a skaven tarpit is not useful either, as not only is the skaven tarpit cheaper, is also cost-free in the other phases

I don't think anyone would tell you liberators aren't complete ass, that the flying ones don't look fucking stupid with their huge bulk and flimsy wings, and let's not even mention hyperbuff full plate longbowmen.

And yeah, their fluff is stupid. Even divorced from the setting death issue, an entire horde of paladins is an inherently weak concept.

That said, going purely by models and asthetics, I kinda like the Retributors and the new scout dudes. The former for being the best take on the hulking burly golden knight concept, the latter for being slimmed down but detailed up, thus having some actual personality in the models.

>>
>>51395463
The thing with the bridge and such is because Ãœbersreik has a lot of dwarfs and contact with the dwarfs, and there's even a huge city wall that connects to keeps and such, much of it dwarf-built.

The figures in Sigmar's Heirs is notoriously off, and was originally based on old European figures rather than what would make sense in the Empire, but the main way to explain this is that the figures represent tax-paying heads of households.

This means that most nobles and a ton of wageslaves, not to mention the homeless, all the children (child mortality is high, but you can probably easily count 5-10 children per household), and so forth, are not accounted for.

It's also possible that this is only for the households within the city walls, which would inflate the numbers even more.

Sylvania is technically a County within the Imperial Province and Grand County of Stirland, Sylvania bordering the Grand County of the Mootland and the mountain-dwarf-held World's Edge Mountain.

It also presumably borders several other unnamed Counties of Stirland.

I've always found it odd that it's called The Vampire Counts, because there's only really one Count of Sylvania at any given time.

But yeah, the Vampire Counts are de jure technically a part of The Empire of Sigmar, and should, again, technically, heed the call when the Emperor calls. But they also don't pay their taxes, so what can you expect? There's literally peasants in Sylvania that has no idea that they are part of some Empire.

It's funny that it's really just a county, which is probably also why they usually don't bother with it. The overwhelming force of the Empire in it's entirety would be able to completely crush Sylvania, yet it's painted up as being some kind of fair fight. It's like the Imperium and the Tau in 40k, really.

also it IS part of the Empire. except Empire is run by illegitimate usurper and thus neither he nor his equally illegitimate Elector Counts can claim any sovereignty over those who know the truth.

once Vlad von Carstein becomes the Emperor he deserves to be, Sylvania will be just like any other province in the Empire.

in fact he could be a cool character. Arthurian legends had saracene knights in England, so why can't there be an Arabian warrior priest, with similar story?

say, a nigga's bro was killed by some chaos cultist gangasta, so he chaced him all across Arabia, Border Princes and into the Empire. when finally cornered somewhere in Averland, the cultist summoned a daemon, and brave nigga would've die, had a local warrior priest intervened, banishing the daemon and dispelling the chaotic magics of the cultist, allowing the brave nigga smash cultist's skull.
then the nigga felt thankful, indebted for saving his life, and also curious about the faith that saved his life, and so became the Priest's acolyte and later a full-fledged Warrior Priest.

characters of Warhammer Quest ain't gotta be random generic dudes, they can be pretty special snowflakes.

Depends on what you consider a daemon. There's an infinite number of forces within the Immaterium. Supernatural forces that are not malicious are generally not referred to as daemons, such as the "Divine Servants" of the Old Gods.

The issue is that even if daemons act non-destructively, their nature is usually inherently corruptive. Even a Slaaneshi muse that would have you become the greatest of artists is going to slowly corrupt you, because by it's very nature, it could practically consists of the concept of violinism par excellance.

As you become a better violinist, it will become stronger, because you're feeding that concept, but that thing you're feeding? That's all it is. That's all it wants you to do. Forever. And be the best. The best ever. And do nothing except ever excel in that one thing. Your wife? A fucking distraction. Your children? It'll fucking murder them for you so you can concentrate on your violin.

And then you suddenly find yourself in the gutter, snorting a burnt Stradivarius, and a constipation caused by the musical notes you anally consumed yesterday, with strings around your neck that tighten when you miss a note, having recruited Cultists of the Divine Violin that is forcing child prostitutes to dance for as long as the song continues, but you have to keep going because you're the fucking best and the muse told you so, and the ride never fucking ends.

The Empire can and has crushed Sylvania. The problem is the whole land is cursed, evil stuff just keeps coming back. And that's ignoring the fact each elector is independent and has their own military issues to deal with.

The vampires also tend to launch major attacks when the empire is distracted or splintered. Being dead their forces also have several logistical advantages.

That is what Chaos *was* before it started getting increasingly flanderized, especially in 40k, and became the only "true" threat of the entire world at all times, forever.

Tzeentch became just magic, magic, magic, primarily destructive and lolrandom, of course, Nurgle went from being as much life as he was death to being just another type of necromancy-like corruption, Khorne lost all aspects of honour and martial prowess, and became just rip & tear & nothing else, ever.

But Slaanesh probably suffered the most, to the point where they even ended up canning him in Age of Smegmar, because even GW had even forgotten that Slaanesh is about getting hung up on shit, about excess and pride, and perfection, any perfection, of anything, to the point where it would drive people insane.

Instead, all Slaanesh became was
>lol benis hahaha

>>51409201
I love that aspect of Nurgle, by the way. The Carnival of horrors, the ride that never ends, where everyone is friends forever and laughter is to be had. It really encapsulates the whole "nothing has to end, Anon, come be with us" that is the whole deal with Nurgle - the fear of things ending or changing. Hel Fenn is right next to Vanhaldenschlosse, so I'm going to assume it's a corruption of 'Hal'. As in Frederick van Hal.

Has anybody ever used the mini-encounter from River Life of the Empire?

"The Maria Borger, A Vampire Story."

The adventurers come across a slow-moving riverboat which has recently taken on new cargo and has two of its four hands taken ill. It's new cargo, if opened, are two coffins bound for a funeral. In reality, it's a vampire who's been making clandestine night meetings to sap the crew as they oh-so-slowly ship him off to greener pastures. The encounter allows the players (who are expected to be noobs on their first career) to just dump the creature in the water, bury it, stake it, etc as they find the riverboat during the day.

Is this anticlimactic?
>>
>>51412456
What book is that in, and can you give me a page?

The tweest I would suggest is to have the vamp be a strig, and some of the deckhands be strigany, to give them something to try and stop them or kill them if they play stupid.
>>
>>51409132
And even in WFB, the head of some college of magic was actually from Araby, so it's not as if it's a new thing to have some foreigners.

Its not really a bad thing, or a bad paintjob for the model. It just looks like pandering instead of really trying to make a unique character from the Southlands or something. If it is, that's shitty. If it's not, people are still going to think it is anyway.

That's the thing about the Colleges of Magic, they aren't just schools for wizards, they are one of the Wonders of the Old World.

Jade wizards are actually considered sacred because the work they put into improving farms and livestock was seen by the peasants as miracles. Gold wizards invented chemistry by 2350 and have made thousands of new materials for the Empire. The Celestial wizards literally see the future, just to name a few examples. While they serve critical roles on the battlefield, the support they provide to imperial infrastructure is immeasurable.

So they take whoever comes. Those Kislev nobles that can afford to send their magic-affiliated children to the Empire, do. Because the ice witches will kill magic-sensitive boys. Same in Bretonnia, and Bretonnians will send their children if they catch it early enough, before they get kidnapped. A Tilean diplomat talks about wanting a single college to set up shop in Tilea so much he would kill to do it. The colleges themselves are in contact with Cathay and communication allows the two empires to avoid stepping on each other's toes, and arrange diplomatic meetings should the need arise.

Thanks.

Its 80% Dwarf Canon parts, 20% Dwarf Warrior parts.

There was a barebone wheelbarrow included in the box but no arms for a Dwarf to hold it, so I took some leftover arms from another box and removed the weapons and filed them a bit and then I glued it all together on a 2X square which I also had to niggerrig together. The shells are from 3 Canon boxes since you only get one per box.

I like the result but as always with custom stuff, there is room for improvements that you cant really do anything about now (post glue sculpting takes to much time).

If it was a wizard, I could shrug it off easier. But that's a bonafide Warrior Priest of Sigmar, a deity only known and only practiced in The Empire, and likely practically unknown outside of The Empire and it's closest neighbors.

Not that it matters much, it's all Smegmar shit anyway, it's just frustrating to see how retarded Smegmar actually is. It's like the ride never ends. It's the rabbit-hole of awful. It's the cancer that just keeps coming back.
>>

>She goes to Barren Hills, doesn't find the meteorite, realizes it's long gone... and then goes to the Signal Tower (where she challenges the adventurers). What's going on here?
Yeah, it's a bit weird. The only thing I can find is that the map on the dead horse they discover as they're sailing up the Stir has Dagmar's Observatory marked on it. So she knows where it is. Maybe if she finds it missing from the Barren Hills she assumes (rightly) that Dagmar got there first and goes to investigate.

>(Also, for when the adventurers meet Etelka (and her henchman, Ernst), is it really just the adventurers vs. two wizards? or do they have thugs? muscle?)
Ernst's entry states that he'll hire thugs if he can.
>>
>>51413144
I'm not sure I'd agree that Jade Wizards are considered *sacred*, but other than that, I think that's some really solid points on just how major the Colleges are, and that although magic is rare in the Empire, it's even more rare elsewhere. The Colleges represent one of the extremely few places in the entire world that produces relatively "safe" magic-users, and does so consistently and with directed intent, producing dedicated specialists.
>>

A group of six adventurers on their first career and on their way to their second... How many thugs you reckon would help?

In addition -- do you think an encounter with a River Troll would be too much for them? There's only one of them with a combat career (I made them roll careers randomly) and an apprentice wizard.
>>
>>51394134
I have it, but I have a few criticisms.

Everything has a needless level of complexity and there's way too much jargon going on. Wound tracking, corruption tracking, alignment tracking etc. Secondly, there's nothing that really distinguishes the individual careers from each other. Everyone in a military career gets the same starting equipment, and it's the same deal for every other career. Thirdly, it tries so fucking hard to be edgy and grim that it hurts, as in, I suffered physical pain in my temporal lobe reading some of the objectively cringe-worthy item descriptions and the fluff piece in the front of the book.

Despite all this, I think it's a decent step in the right direction, but a lot of fat needs to be trimmed.
>>
>>51415540
Well, presumably the survivors from the Warhammer World got all mixed up in the aftermath, so there's no Southlanders as such any more, just people from Sigmartown on Planet Sigmar.

That said, it's strange that some regional god from a specific nation-state became chief god of humanity.
Like some Dragon-Emperor-worshipping Cathayans open a portal and flee the apocalypse only to discover that actually, nah, the real god is some godforsaken fur-wearing barbarian you've never heard of. Not even like a personification of nature, but an honest-to-god bearded savage with a blunt instrument given to him by midgets.
>>
>>51415714
The nature of deities in Warhammer is such that their nature and power changes depending on the nature and number of their worshipers.

Sigmar's place as the pre-eminent god of humanity speaks to the sheer amount of faith in the Empire. Especially given that we know Cathay was more populated.
>>
>>51415685
I am notoriously bad at judging these things. I'd probably use five thugs just so the bad guys outnumber the pcs by one.

A troll could go either way. 6 of them is a big advantage, but if anyone gets into melee they might be in for a rough time. Frightening is also a great leveller.
But if they have access to fire (what decent character doesn't?) and figure out a good way to exploit the troll's stupidity it might be a curbstomp.
>>

None of them have access to fire, at the moment, except the dwarf having a lamp pole. The wizard's apprentice only has petty magic. They're dumb noobs who are excited to trade, one of whom REFUSES TO FIGHT.

In the fight to take over the abandoned boat, he stayed back on the Berebeli to "keep watch" and because he's "not a fighter." Meanwhile, wearing chainmail and a sword. "It's for my own protection."

When they find all the wool on the riverboat, he immediately takes ownership and says he'll act as the broker and sell it in Altdorf for sixty percent. Fucker didn't even fight for it.

The cosmogy makes no sense.

So the darkness of the Warp consumed the world in blackness, and in the Warpy time without time forever/one second the survivors fought Daemons. Sigmar floated alone sitting on the Elf life tree until he saw a speck of light which he claimed, it was the core of the old planet which he named after himself and gave to a hermaphrodite dragon made of stars in exchange for helping him create anew world.

In the meantime, the blackness receded and every Wind of Magic had become a material plane of non-Euclidean nature that is infinite after merging with the shattered fragments of the planet. Each is a different reality, linked only by miniature teleporters that Sigmar built as he and star Falkor visited them. The Incarnates became gods (plus Morathi and anyone Nagash felt like resurrecting) and woke up in the planes they are tied to, along with primitives descended from survivors of the old setting who adapted to the dimensions. The Chaos Gods meanwhile had decided to retreat back to the part of the Warp that was still the Warp to play with other universes other than Slaanesh who fell asleep in a cave on the material plane.

Sigmar gathered the gods and one woman who doesn't cast shadows, and created a city named after himself in the dimension of Light then went about creating civilizations on every plane of existence until the three Chaos Gods and Archaon decided to check on the leftover fragments and saw how much shit happened then attacked. The gods betrayed Sigmar and Chaos took over the infinite planes, while Slaanesh lost Chaos Godhood to Horned Rat while Archaon became the Chaos God of Chaos Undivided. Also Slann turned the clouds of Sigmar City into Lustria 2 without him knowing it and became omnipotent except when they aren't.

Its like Warhammer: Axe Cop. None of it makes sense.

No, it only speaks of what fucking nonsense Smegmar is and how it makes no sense in the context of the Warhammer Fantasy setting.
>>
>>51415540
There's Sudenberg. If nothing else, I think Sigmar's worship is more common outside of the Empire than the Lady.
>>
>>51415957
Sigmar was the supreme human deity for End Times/Age of Sigmar. Ulric was clearly less powerful and acted less in the world -- and the rest of the northern and southern pantheons were even weaker than him. The only comparable god was the Lady of the Lake (who was often rumored to an aspect of Khorne or an elven deity).

To be fair, mythology doesn't usually make sense.
But it should probably be internally consistent at least.
>>
>>51415995
Again, that makes no fucking sense whatsoever in the context of the real Warhammer fantasy setting. This is exactly why End Times/Age of Shillmar constitutes a separate setting, with it's own assumptions and concepts, completely different from Warhammer Fantasy.
>>
>>51416010
I can't really think of a mythology that makes less sense.
>>
>>51415988
Still uncommon as hell. Sigmar is not even worshipped in the neighboring states, let alone known beyond that.

End Times had a bunch of weird points about theology, I feel.

Rhya was suddenly dropped as Taal's wife in favor of Shallya, which makes little sense - she's supposed to be the daughter of Morr, and I'm pretty sure Morr and Taal are siblings or something. And Taal was somehow the strongest of the pantheon instead of Ulfric. I'm not saying that Taal has no warlike capabilities, but he is not a warrior god.

Then there was a death god still in Nekhara - which sort of makes sense because of their focus on death, but I'd always assumed he was simply what we now call Morr, not his own deity.
>>
>>51416131
They skipped the Nehekharan gods almost entirely.

Also, what the hell was up with Valaya?
>>
>>51416131
Shallya being Taal's wife is the most bizarre thing because it not only goes against all the previous background but goes against the basic concept of the Taal/Rhya duality.
Taal is the masculine god of the untamed wilderness and Rhya is the feminine goddess of the rural and agricultural. And they're both about fertility.
The two are so intertwined that the WFRP books list them and their cults together. Tome of Salvation also says that they were originally worshipped as a single entity known as Ishnernos.

Taal being the king of the gods is consistent though. The whole story behind Middenheim, for example, is Ulric being jealous of Taal's command of all nature, so Taal allows him a place of his own. So he finds a mountain and flattens the top with his fist (hence 'Fauschlag').

>I suffered physical pain in my temporal lobe reading some of the objectively cringe-worthy item descriptions and the fluff piece in the front of the book
Is it THAT bad? got any especially noteworthy examples?
>>
>>51416300
Isn't the End Times just a convenient retcon to set up AoS anyway?
>>
>>51416300
But Taal being king isn't the same as him being the most powerful warrior, you know?
>>
>>51416337
Yeah, it's why we usually don't discuss it here.

This is pretty accurate for me.

Only some of the new tree spirit things looked half decent. They looked more Warhammery than the tree-man we got in 8th to be honest.
>>
>>51416337

Pretty much.

It'll get retconned into oblivion is GW ever has the inclination to bring Fantasy back in some form.
>>
>>51416663
I wouldn't count on it. Warhammer Fantasy RPG might see the light of day again, though.

I hope they don't. Let sleeping dogs lie.

Well, it wouldn't be too much of a pain in the ass for them to release it in digital form.
