>So, do they watch propaganda or what?
sure? It depends on the world, it depends on the tech level, it depends on the imperial governor in charge of them
Some will be casual near future, some will be megacity 2000AD, some will be full 1984 Oceania, some will be NO ENTERTAINMENT WORK IN SLAVE MINES ALL DAY UNTIL YOU DIE. It's a big place, there's no standards.

how did people entertain themselves in the 1700s
>>51320261
depends on the planet but in general they do have tv (unless you are poor of course)
the ratio of propaganda to entertainment would vary depending on planet though.
Entertainment is fucking heresy.
Several Caiaphas Cain books mention action/adventure fiction produced by the Imperium based around the IG.
There's definitely an element of propaganda to it, but it's still something we would recognise as entertainment.
Also, one of the early Gaunt's Ghosts book has a character put a record on. It's described as something along the lines of "standard popular music, full of lost loves and heartbreak", so there IS secular entertainment.

Reminded me of a recent Regimental Standard article. It seems they still do Scientific Journal, and the author of "There is no Wolves on Fenris" is maimed by wolf.
