So what do we make of the new teaser on CB's main page?
>>
>>51313670
Hacking. No need for LoF.
Also attack order supply. Drop a Hellcat with a Shotgun or a Spitfire (or even a Combi) and kill those cheerleaders.
But yeah, Eclipse + Achilles is just tough. No hard counters, just learning how to make tactically sound decisions. Practice, basically.

RIP his wrist
>>
>>51316746
I'd say it's one of the worst modern models I've had to the displeasure to assemble. So much of it is bad, the pose, the four points I had to glue for the arms and gun, the giant Zipper, and the bare forearms I figure are bare for one or a combination of the following reasons in most likely to least likely.

To shoot up Grade-5 Heroin

To demarcate how they have regeneration by implying that the armor fell off but the skin/flesh regenerated back

To show off some muscles or tats.

But damn it, besides all that crap about the model itself, it is so damned useful in game.

I actually like them. I've gotten used to the zippers. The wrist is fucked though.

I did have to mix it up just a tiny bit. I'm never going to use ths Hacker model, so I gave him the Doc's head and Pistol arm for a generic Rifle+LSG which can proxy any of those options. And my HMG is looking over his right shoulder instead of straight forward like the stock model.
>>
>>51313670
You're anon with the starter pack? Eclipse grenade units are expensive for Aleph and die to shock - i.e. mines. They also tend to be with 2/3 others in a link. Get your Spektr over there. Stand round a corner and place mines on it. Then walk round the corner and shoot at them. They react, kill you. Mines go off, good trade.
>>
>>51314335
Why YJ? I don't think the "chinese curse" is a specific hint, it's been in the fluff since first edition, it just means "shit's about to hit the fan".
And even though YJ is my favourite faction we just had a wonderful year for releases, it's time to hand the spotlight to someone else.

dunno, I just know its going to be a pain.
I might just make some small indents so it can rest the tips of the feet and glue them
>>
>>51316045
Have you read the fluff on Mirage 5? Duroc is a rare Dogface who can handle being airborne. Most cannot, a handicap that presumably extends to Podes as well..
>>
>>51319494
I usually keep the parts of slotta directly under the feet and file them a bit smooth, they work like pins without the hassle of drilling metal.
>>
>>51319010
Well, they have 3 things they can do:
1. Shoot the Spektr and eat the mine. If they are in Mine range, they are probably in Nanopulser range and certainly in Chain Rifle range, so the Spektr is as good as dead. You can always try to dodge with him, but in Active Turn he's going to be stuck where he ended movement. Shooting them will be at -9, due to ODD and Direct Template, but there's always a 1/20 chance of rolling a 3.
2. Dodge: normal FTF vs Spektr, -3 vs Mine. With PH13 they have a fair chance, as Spektr's TO Camo does not affect them. If they Dodge, your Spektr lives to place another mine.
3. Special Dodge with the Eclipse grenade. Chances are the same as with Dodge, but if they actually cut off their LoF, the Spektr can just place another mine in the next Order and recloak with the next one, acting as a speed bump.
>>
>>51319567
This is what I do. It works pretty well and I haven't had any pop off.
>>
>>51319494
Is that Massacre? I know he's a cool model, but he's not available for generic Nomads.
Then again I play Corregidor and got a Custodier and BS Spektr anyway.

Even though I've seen the render of it before, it's somehow different from expected.

As to the other point:
Honestly would be a bit surprised if he's not as well known in the UK as you are positing. As far as charismatic revolutionary figures go, he's pretty top tier. At least where I've been in the United States and Spain you see his bust pop up in unexpected places in downtown centers and plazas. I'd think it'd be hard to find people who learned a bit about the history of the Americas without having an at least vague idea of who he is.

Then again, I may be a little biased on account of being Venezuelan. Still though, I'd posit to argue he's a better known historical figure than, for example, Avicenna who already has a recreation.

>>51321245
Yeah, that's the precedent I was thinking about. Or at least, that's the premise Aleph wants you to think. In the upcoming months I think I'll photoshop something to the effect of making a Dossier for Simon Boliver, with some fluff written to describe him, as an OC for April fools or in general like Felix.

>>51321374
I'd rather paint as intended, plus, in the end it's a bit of flair to make him stick out a bit. That and I can joke about easy access for Heroin injection. I even gave him a Caucasian skin tone so that the darker skin tones don't get confused for brown cloth.

And a friend of mine told me that it gives him this Spec-Ops Zombie Killer kind of look that he likes so I'm ok with it. As the phrase goes ... Skin to win. Skin-timidation nation.

>>51321444
Can't please everyone. In my opinion, I'd rather have female models that are a bit too awkwardly sexy yet still fit within the manga aesthetic they had since the beginning than little to no representation of female models at all like GW does. Even then, the female representation is at most 40% of a faction. And then, as another point, it's an optional model you won't see that often even with making her a specialist with LFT.
>>

>>
>>51321776
It's especially strange as plenty of British troops went to help in the South American wars of independence. But, although I don't have any hard evidence, I bet if you walked down a British highstreet and asked who Simon Bolivar was they'd have no clue.

I only know about him 'cause I used to be interested in South American politics.
>>

And if CB ever decided to drop the cheesecake, there would be just as many people bitching about that. People like to be angry, its nothing new.

No, I mean Generalissimo Alexander Suvorov, one of the greatest military minds in the history of warfare who led his men even at the age of 70, was undefeated on the field of battle including over 60 massive battles which often saw his men outnumbered. Including almost comical campaigns against the Ottomon Shitskins where in the Battle of Kozludzha he led 8,000 against 40,000 and squash the Turkroachs like bugs or the Battle of Rymnik where he defeated 100,000 with less than a quarter of that while still killing at least one Turk for each man he fielded.

Same, although I would not mind some "unsexy" female sculpts as well. I am kind of disappointing that the fem Jaguar, as presented in pic related, is just a girl with a mohawk. I'd expect a woman Jaguar to look like a hardcore, stockish bitch, one you'd run away from rather than ask out in hopes of kinky sex.

Similarly if Amazons for Blood Bowl are redone, I'd welcome musclebound or outright fat Koka Kalim Blitzers, as long as they are sculpted well. Although that would require me to trust GW to do a quality female sculpt in the first place.

That's the shit that pisses me off the most. Just checked my 2nd Ed Core Book released in 2008. Since then, we have gotten exactly one new unique unit (Spetsnaz), the faction engineer which technically ours (Dozer), and a Special Character (Voronin).

For a comparison that makes me want to shoot someone, in that same book, the only Japanese units were the Keisotsu and the Ninja. Literally just two units, aside from the YJ remotes.

all miniatures for Tunguska
June BAM! all miniatures for Varuna

>>
>>51337166
Nah, it makes much more business sense to drip feed. They release stuff for 5 out of 8 factions each month, thus making sure majority of playerbase has something to buy. And by drip feeding they keep players intetested in new releases. If they released all of Varuna at once and nothing else, then only a handful of players would pay attention and make the purchase.
GW has a different business model because they have a different game. Also they mainly target people new to the hobby, who make a few big purchases and not much else.

IMHO, missions require a decent order pool to be done. And they tend to be very model specific.

Consider that, in a mission that requires specialists, you will need specialists, warbands to provide some smoke to allow them to access the objective and heavy hitters to eliminate the enemy snipers.

It requires some deep list building and around 16 miniatures.

What I'm trying to say is that if you are playing with a starter pack, you still have to find your own game style before trying to solve tactical situations. Know your tools before you really need them to work.
>>
>>51337418
Gotcha.

And generally, are there any all-time-favourites in regards to specialists when it comes to YuJing/ISS? I think the ALEPH girl with the forge-ring gets mentioned a lot, but are there more YuJing themed units that are effective?

Heavy Hitter- Su Jian, take two of these and make them go together with fireteam DUO.

Warbands- Kuang Shis, they are impetuous but they just cost 5 points and provide regular orders.

Smoke- the Celestial guard with Kuang Shi control device has a light smoke grenade launcher, that will allow you to cover the advance of your specialists.

Specialists:
The Cheapest- Celestial Guard Forward Observer.
The best- Ninja with killer hacking device.
Fastest- Sophotects.

When I wrote 16 miniatures I meant for 300pts games.

Something that works pretty well is to have a Combat Group with the snipers and warbands that clean the route and provide smoke and then, other Combat group with enough orders to allow the specislists to reach and activate the objective.

Be ready to fail some WIP rolls in the most dramatic moment of the battle.

Having recently started playing ISS/vanilla Yu-Jing, Kanren and Ninja KHD are definitely tied in my mind. You can play great mind games with both, Ninja can't sup. fire but stacks mods anyway, Kanren you can fool your opponent into thinking is something a lot more mundane, but Ninja of course has hidden deployment. They're both good.

Da, the Amerikanski are useful meatshield, but distraction from glory of Rodina and Tartary.

That's actually one thing that I'd like but doubt we'll see, are two slightly seperate AVA listings for the two Russian territories on Dawn. With Scouts and Irmandihos aplenty in the wilderness frontier of Tartary, while Rodina's urban response units would have more of the Traktor Muls, Tankhunters, and the like. Wouldn't need different rules or anything on the units, just tinkered AVA. I know it won't happen, but whatever.

Every other Ariadna line has been tripled in size at least, and all got their Sectorials first. Look at 2nd Ed YJ and it's almost entirely ISS. And surprise, surprise, ISS was their first sectorial. No "sectorial" from back then has been shafted the same way that the Kazaks have been.

And yeah, we do want/expect Mimetism-instead-of-Camo Linkable Tankhunters, either Duo or Haris. Vet Kazaks linkable with Line Kazaks like Kempeitai. And probably a throw-away option of Linkable Irmandihos. Other than that, all we're probably going to get is Vasily, maybe a motorcycle or an AD troop, maybe an MSV profile on something, and maybe Vet Kazak Doctor's return and a Duo option profile for the Vets.

My buddy plays Ariadna. What's the best way to counter him as Nomads? I can make a decent Corregidor list or Vanilla list. Not much for Bakunin. I have the starter from Icestorm, a Mobile Brigada box, a Moran Maasai with shotgun, the Interventors box, and I think that's it. I'm thinking it honestly might be best to use my Morats against him.

>>
>>51339622
Smoke with an MSV inside of it. Depending on what faction he plays, he has zero way of countering it. Also, MSV in general shits on a decent chunk of Ariadna.

>>51339592
>just Scots Guard, except Mimetism instead of a Specialist
>literally just Kempeitai
>Irmandihos are garbageboys, and making them Linkable still wouldn't see them run any more than they are now
>CB loves making their special characters on the table top, and Vasily is ours
The rest are just maybes.

Rodina is the tech capital of Dawn and the only spaceport, so it would make sense for at least a Visor in there somewhere. Bikes would be nice, but I doubt we'll get 'em since we already have Dog-Warriors which fill more or less the same niche.

Vet Kazak doctor was an option back in 2nd but got removed when they reworked the profile in 3rd and made Mimetism standard; still, it's a bit of a waste to give the highest WIP unit in the army only a single WIP-based specialist. And Duo doesn't really offer much of a benefit to Vets other than ability to move them up the field, and I can pretty much guarantee you'd be more likely to see 2 Vets with Line Kazak buddies even if the option was available.
>>
>>51339755
>MSV in general shits on a decent chunk of Ariadna

So does it bother anyone else that low-tech armies are at a disadvantage on non-urban boards? I played my friend's Yu Jing with my Hassassins last night on a jungle board, and his Hsien and Wu Ming really made my life difficult with all the low-vis zones on the table.

On the bright side, I now understand how important Govads are, and will be picking up their box as soon as I can.
>>
>>51339848
Bao troops, not wu ming. the wu ming were a pain, but for different reasons.
>>
>>51339848
Honestly can't say, since we pretty much only play on urban boards. But in Wilderness, I'd suspect it might even the field a little since Saturation Zones will affect them even if they ignore the Low Vis. And as Kazaks, I can typically get around Low Vis with direct application of Dog to face and the fact that my Vets take no penalty to shooting someone who shot them through Smoke.

But even MSV1 cuts into me -hard- since you're stripping away a decent chunk of my Vets, Tankhunters, Spetsnaz, and Scouts' survivability. And while a Vet in cover will still have substantial Armor to help, moving to objections and re-positioning becomes way more dangerous. As it should be, though. Still, tends to result in playing fairly similiar games where either a Parachutist Spetsnaz, a BSG Scout, or a Dog-Warrior flanks, my guys turtle down in Suppression, and it all just falls to the dice.

On top of the other models that have been mentioned, the FO remote is a great toolbox unit. Unassuming but a lot of capability to make it worth your while. Crane hacker is solid if you want a HI specialist. The CG hacker has among the best stats for a line trooper infantry, The Wu Ming FO is an integral unit to running the pain train, but FO + Shotgun is still a versatile loadout. Zhanying bring additional specialist options to the Wu Ming Core as well as being able to Haris with the dreaded Hsien.

For non ISS Yu Jing, the Guilang is a near universally accepted workhorse. A little pricey but does actual traditional skirmishing unlike the Ninja or Kanren.

The Dao Fei Hacker is pricey, but that's a camo infiltrating specialist HI that can punk everything but the most elite models or canny CC specialists.

The Hac Tao Assault Hacker ups that game with higher price, better stats, and trading TO for infiltration. Very toolboxy. The KHD trades versatility for cost and the ability to absolutely murder other hackers.

Tiger Soldiers provide the rock solid Tiger soldier stats and AD.

Karakuri are kin to the Su Jian, trading in NWI, armor, and mobility for Dogged, total immunity, and the ability to score objectives. Their ability to laugh off specialist ammo is amazing, especially with their ability to go Dogged after losing 3 structure. They are veritable arsenals, packing templates, AP/Exploside, flash pulses, and your choice between combi, heavy shotgun, and MK12.

The Zuyong and Shang Ji both provide two specialist profiles a piece, on two wound BS 13 platforms. Zuyong is cheaper with dual breaker pistols, while the Shang Ji is more survivable and brings a flamethrower. The Shang Ji hacker is basically a cheaper version of the Crane hacker, with solid all around stats.

The Aragoto hacker is an extremely mobile piece. A bit hard to control but 8-6 is no joke.

Either of the Dire Foes are solid, though pricey money wise if you can't split box them.

>No "sectorial" from back then has been shafted the same way that the Kazaks have been.
You mean how the invincible army was literally unplayable shit at the time?
Also JSA was first and also pretty much the only way to play YuJing at the time.
>>
>>51340369
Well, given that in the 2nd Ed book, the only unit that you'll likely see in the Invincibles sectorial was single "Invincibles" unit that doesn't even exist anymore but probably got warped into the Zuyong, I'm not really surprised. Given that, y'know. They literally didn't exist in the rules.

And no, given that sectorials didn't exist until Human Sphere at the earliest, and the JSA consisted only of the Ninja and the Keisotsu in the 2nd Ed core book, the JSA were not the "only way" to play YuJing in Second Ed. You just played YuJing since they were a pretty good example of a faction that had a pretty even mix of ISS, JSA, the singular Invincible, and the White Banner stuff all mixed together in a pot.

American Kazak player here, and that definitely throws a monkey wrench into the table, yeah. Kinda hate having to shell out the full 1.5 for the MULTI sniper, but any long-range MSV in a good location forces an Ariadna player to work around it much in the same fashion that another army would have to work around a TR remote. Intruder for Corregidor, I guess Riot Grrl for Bakunin, and Grenzer for Tugunska. And some Smoke/Eclipse grenades for good measure.

Again, this is just for Camo/Mimetism-heavy Ariadna lists, but in an army where 17 units have Mimetism up to Ambush Camo, you're more likely than not to come across a good bit.

Going to go ahead and tell you that I'd probably be suiciding a Dog into your Jaguars to drop your Order Pool down. The fact that you don't have a single Fireteam might cause you some issues since you're not going to be nearly as effective as you could be.

When we say that Intruders will make us howl in rage, that doesn't mean you should abandon literally everything in order to max them out. At least, I wasn't intending it to. Just use them as a strong hammer to control the board for the rest of your list.
>>

I wasnt the anon asking for help, but as an example it may be of some use. Then again he said it was for Bakunin that was troublesome, odd since riots grrls are amazing, psychotic nuns are great, rem options, crazy koalas for days.

I honestly cant think of a reason to bring 5 Intruders, let alone anything other than HMG and MSR profiles.
>>
>>51343366
There's such a variation in how both Combined Army and Nomads play within themselves it'll be hard to cover all the topics, but in broad strokes, you'll be fine. Nomads might have counters, but you have counter counters. Sure, hacking that nomads are privy to do can be troublesome, but you have great access to KHD to get through the repeater nets and decent firepower. MSV2 through smoke might be tough, but you white noise and albedo. You might run into lots of mines/koalas, but you have high physique guys and suicidal pretas/hungries to bait and dissipate them. So on so forth.
>>
Speaking of Nomads, any good proxies for PI-Well? Karakuri are an option I guess.
>>
>>51344082
Combine doesn't have KHD.

But yeah, Combine definitely has the tools to deal with Nomads. No vanilla faction hard counters another, though skews lists exist. I spent many of my formative leaning to run from them. Generally Combine is going to be the bully in that match with their superior alpha strike capability and harder hitting elites while Nomads try to bypass and ambush.

The main diffoculty is that the CA prespective player is going to have to learn their army against more experienced opponents. They'll get their licks while they find their feet. That's just how it is.

Also, the bottle says Pigments can be mixed into paints. Has anyone tried that, and what effect does it have?

I'm still not sure how you can have JSA sectorial with two units. Or even consider an Invincibles sectorial when there was only a single unit just called the Invincibles at that time. I can list the unit profiles available in the 2nd Ed rulebook if you'd like to look like even stupider.

and there were 3 whole Kazaks.
Sectorials came with Human sphere and everyone got 2 except panO, and JSA got 10 new units. The only comparable list to the Kazaks are NeoTerra which were both the extra Sectorial that PanO was gifted and their last to get dedicated releases.

>>51353178
If you aren't at 10 orders at 300, you are generally in trouble. You do have a number of resilient orders and an aggressive LT, but I am unsure what you are planning.

Barring the Hsien, all of your SWC weapons are on single wound models which aren't particularly good at shooting. Your board control is also pretty weak for for so few orders.

Personally I'd swap a Pheasant for zhanying to Haris with the Hsien, grab some mad traps, put a rocket launcher on a Wu Ming, and find a way to get to 10 orders.
>>
>>51353544
Still trying to figure out ow to list write wit yu jing cus if you want lots of orders then you have to take thier sub par assholes, unless you get kaung shi.
>>
>>51353761
You mean how every faction works? And even then that's total BS. Celestial Guard, Kuang Shi, and REMs are all good pieces and are cheap. You can't just spam heavies and hope to have enough orders to deal with a normal game, but you don't have to take shit either in ISS as their units are all pretty damn good (especially PPM-wise).
>>
>>51353761
An ISS list without Kuang Shi is like a Caledonian list without Scotsmen or a Bakunin list without degenerates. Are you drunk?
>>
>>51353856
Well, the Invincibles likely will run contrary to this, but they're sectorial whose gimmick seems to be -- at least theoretically -- pure HI models, though they'll still undoubtably get some cheap shit too. Though I'm still hoping that the Zuyong is as cheap as they get.

>>
>>51353901
Invincibles will not be pure HI. Tigers are already confirmed part of that sectorial.

>>51353761
That's kind of a fundamental characteristic with Yu Jing in general. You definitely feel their Hi-Low approach where their highly trained dudes stand head and shoulder above their peons with very little middle ground. You can afford to bring a couple of those super elite dudes, but you've got to build a list that can both supply them with orders and get the mission done. Cheerleaders/Corner guards are just a fact of life.

That said, they get 2 wound BS 13 guys for gangbuster prices. If you want to bring a lot of multi wound troops and have them functional ISS and JSA are pretty damn good, with competition from MO (especially since they now have goon squads) and Tohaa (who have cheaper dudes and triads, but have Haq level stats).

The fact you can take 5 HI, one of which is a HMG Hsien, and still have about 125 points is pretty amazing.

not 100% sure but iirc you can't target Pandas with hacking as they're just equipment, not actual troops; also you can't ARO an enemy hacker through 2 Pandas, it's the same as trying to hack a target through 2 repeaters (not possible)

>>51353178
that's a damn weird list
-too low on orders, get to 10 at least
-no hackers so you'll probably get carbonited to shit
-what's the deal with all the shotguns? you haven't a single rifle in your list, it's either shotgun or high range, it'll be awkward hitting the optimal rangebands
-have you heard of our lords and saviours the Kunag Shi? as a bonus point their controller has a Smoke launcher to combo with your Bao and Hsien
-some units are just subpar in your list. 3 FO Wu Ming is way over the top, at least get one with tinbot B. The panzerfaust Wu Ming is not the most useful. The shotgun pheasant is just redundant, just take another Bao instead.

The simplest method to use pigments is literally just dust it on, if you only want a light coating. You don't really need anything to hold it in that case from my experience.

The only time I've mixed it into paints was for weathering mud, which was effective. I'd imagine in general it just makes the paint look a bit... dustier? Dried pigments have a certain look, and I'd imagine adding pigments to paint carries that accross.

Jin Wei has a penchant for that. Remember the Pheasant Rank Red Fury's mixed reception? He sculpted that too. Although, it seems that people don't mind the Bandit Hacker having about a similar pose for some reason.

He for some reason does a lot of women with legs like twigs facing inwards. Overall not bad IMO, but has room for improvement.
>>
Someone on the official forums had a genius idea. The Raicho pilot's pose is perfect for a selfie! Give her a phone instead of a gun, a V-sign on the other hand, and she's a perfect HVT because no one runs the Raicho anyway XD

I dont know females with heavy weapons seem stupid. Females in military are stupid in general, but I can imagine some back stabing or holo "future" tech role for them. But a main line unit, can you imagine having a female runing up to an american or Israeli tank and firing their RPG from 15 meters away? They wouldn't have the guts to do it.
The little auxbot on the other hand is glorious.

dude what does it have to do with red pill. Women in the army is borderline stupidity. they can do support stufff, but not actual combat. The former is because women in the military are generally held to less strict physical standards, not because women can't meet them but because forces think they can't meet them. So of course a unit held to lower standards generally performs worse. And there's plenty of women in the US military pointing that out and wanting to be held to the same standards as men.
Support units like MPs and logies also still engage in combat and prove their worth. Look up Leigh Ann Hester and Timothy Nein, both MPs who won the Silver Star in the same action for example.

>>51363012
I would go with a standard hacker to begin with. They can exorcise possessed TAGs, which rarely comes up but can be hugely important. Standard hacking devies can still brain blast other hackers too. Admittedly they do it with less efficiency than KHDs, but Brain Blast is still nasty taken in isolation.
However, KHDs are cheap, don't cost SWC, and are options for most SK units nowadays. Taking both isn't hard to fit into a list, or really a bad choice.

Mmm. Don't see why you would ever, ever field a Marut with 8 orders, one of which is hidden, meaning 7. Your opponent takes two off you if you go first, you add one as Lt and still fail. You need orders to burn. Also, paramedics are bullshit FO downgrades and not real healers.
>>
>>51363405
If I wanted to rambo a TAG, I would absolutely want it in a full order pool from the get-go. I would ditch the 3 8 point order bots, consolidate into one order pool and work from there.
I would also want another back-up offensive piece, because with TAGs it isn't if they go down, it's when they go down. And you don't want to be left with nothing to take the firefight to the enemy with after that happens.

Then from there, we have some of Bostria and others's rambling. There's the Hollow Men who are holoprojector L2 assassins. Gutier said that they are the ultra elite, ultra high tech faction for the Nomads. First Ed Core has a comic with the Kriza Boracs which X-Visor HI.

And the fact that it's one part Russian Hackerman and one part Bratva just makes it even better.
