They are generally slightly less intelligent than humans were but they are very strong. They are primarily melee fighters with simple projectile weapons mixed in

The last human. He is a simulation based on a brain scan of a very rich, powerful and ruthless man prior to the end of humanity. Over time he became lonely, so he created a copy of himself. As the years passed the simulations diverged and began to have disagreements so they created a third copy to settle disputes. As time wore on more and more copies were created until tens of thousands now exist. They are now distributed across hundreds of ships and they interact with physical reality by temporarily uploading themselves to mobile weapons platforms ranging from human sized infantry to mecha platforms that require multiple human simulations to operate. Their goal is to eradicate all other civilizations so that "humans" will be the only beings remaining in the universe.

So what if before its downfall humanity sent a ship full of embryos on a sub ftl journey to a new planet. When they got there the foetuses were to be birthed and raised by servitors and after they had matured they would colonize the planet. Our simulated human knows of the mission but they don't know its destination. They are not only desperate to bring humanity back, they are also desperately lonely and want nothing more than another unique person to talk to. So they are desperately searching for this ark ship or its destination planet lest another faction find it first and destroy the last hope of humanity.
