there is no connection between DW and SR though. Slitherine is a good developer and if it the game was 10 bucks cheaper I'd blindly buy it. For 30 I'll w8 a week or two for some reviews and then buy it (or not). From what I've seen so far it looks pretty good.

I understand that, but if devs go for "lets sell them on the 40k IP, it doesn't matter if the game is shit they'll buy it" then I'd just buy/play a TBS game like <insert good game here>. But my love of the 40k lore, artwork, and fandom always pulls me back in.

And I have played the other slitherine games - both 40k Armageddons, and the overlooked Ravenmark: Scourge of Estellion which plays similar to a square-based wargame. I think slitherine mainly lacks on the window dressing of their games - minimal voice acting, animations, and cut scenes - but they've obviously proved themselves as being able to make solid core game mechanics.
