I find it handy/interesting to track positive/negative events or interactions. Helps justify future actions you may take against people.

So, say your companion did a thing you agree with, that may be +5 approval or whatever. so when they get to a certain point, you may start allowing more errors from them, or if negative then you may confront them on their actions

Not numerically, but if a PC helps or screws over an NPCS they'll remember it.

Here's how I do it.
>PC do something shitty toward NPC
>NPC will remember PC's action, action is written down in personal notes
>NPC might commit actions out of revenge against PC in the future
>depending on how influencial they are, assassins might be sent after the PC
Same thing if PC do something good to NPC, just with everything opposite.
