The panty shots were changed because the artists felt it went against their fanservice policy. This is something they talked about having to develop because originally during it's original development there were frames and animation that were considered "too much" and eventuallly the company created an internal policy for designing. The frames removed predate that policy and since development was wrapping up on the final game they went in and changed those old frames to match their policy.

I fell you on the whole "give them an inch" idea but we live in a world of Day 1 dlc and rolling patches to games. Content is getting changed all the time and it's not just censorship that is a problem. I go on a case by case basis and I didn't think L0 was wrong for this.

And I can't say that this is some leftist takeover in a fighting game dominated by sexualized imagery because everything else stayed the same just three frames. I think devs have a right to change their product and that Consumers have a right to decide if they like those changes and speak out with their wallets and words. certainly some of the devs aren't as inclined to lewd imagery as Alex Ahad but it's a company not an auteur driven project.

Multiple different developers have been able to hit two birds with one stone by making the removed material togglable. The fact that they didn't means that they risked making someone mad, no matter who it is, and pulling content because of that is the textbook definition of rolling over.

I agree and Skullgirls has already accomplished this through adversity. There was a lot of flack when the game was being announced that the content was too "porny" but these changes happened years after launch and were very minor in impact. Nothing changed aside from those frames the game still had sexy women, new characters that were female were also similarly designed (except for the robot). The mindset the devs have towards what constitutes "too much" was already solidified during initial development.

That's why when new characters were being made and we got a peek into the dev cycle, we saw some animations get altered before they made it into the final product. That is that business' policy towards that type of content. I fail to see how in this situation they are "rolling over" when there is no indication that this was prompted by an outside party or overly censored mindset.

If you want to see actual evidence of these devs rolling over. Look at how they treated Nurse Valentire. Her default costume has a red cross in it and after outside pressure from the actual Red Cross and after prompting by their publishers they changed it. (there is a copyright on the image) I found nothing wrong with a fictional character having red crosses on them nor did I associate it with the actual red cross but here we stand. Unless I think that three frames out of thousands were removed because of some other agenda, I can only look at this situation as artists wanting to finalize their "directors cut" before moving onto their next project. It's I'm being rused than bravo I fell for it

While your objections are very understandable, there is a point of flexibility in relation of how to interpret each archetype, and certain interpretations gain more favor as they become culturally accepted.

My point being, if the interpretation has enough of the original and the switch is slow enough, even the original definition may change unless we're talking about lacanian//Jungian tier levels of theory. Going back to skullgirls, here is the animation that probably started the whole process of monitoring what comes down the pipeline and making sure that stuff didn't cross a line.
