Alright, I'm looking for an encounter to throw at my players but preferably not combat.
usually, every travel segment i like to have some kind of encounter, wether it be stumbling upon a tree of healing fruits, a mysterious mask salesman, or even goblins attacking them.
The players just got out of a town and finished a big quest, lots of killing, they just leveled up. and they're now on the road for 7 days. this means they're recovering now, low on resources, id prefer not to have a combat encounter .
but they're traveling in 3 large caravans holding a bunch of loot, only thing i can think of is bandits. and i mean LARGE caravans
tl;dr Three large caravans are traveling through the mountains, what happens?

>Caravan goes into mountains, seems to be passing the same landmarks over and over, you're now lost and have no idea how. Lots of ways to spin it, some prank by fey, ancient illusion magic protecting some long-forgotten stronghold, some magical creature just wanting to be left alone and trying to keep things away from it's lair. None of those require combat if the party is smart about it.
>Another caravan (or so they claim to be) was unfortunate victim of a landslide or some other mishap in the area, the party comes across the survivors and they want to be escorted to safety. Maybe throw in something spooky like a mysterious illness that happens soon afterwards, or make one of the survivors do some shady warlock-pact stuff.
>The caravan's supplies start running low early, and loot goes missing. Detective-quest time to find out where the stuff is going and why. Maybe you've got a stowaway in the caravan, maybe someone in the group is inside man for some (weak) bandits or struggling wild-men who are stalking the caravan and siphoning off what they can when everyone is asleep.
>Just point out some important landmarks like pic related and do an exposition-dump about some related-lore.

thanks man
They run into a hungry bulette, and need to drive it off before it murders all of the horses.
