The Loyalist version of this thread crops up from time to time so let's have one for the Traitors as well since I am both curious and also looking for inspiration.
Which is your favourite Warband, and what about that Warband appeals to you, be it fluff, aesthetics, and/or rules?
Well i like the Death Guard a lot for their slow, unexicted appproach on warfare. The feeling that they are soldiers not warriors. Neither bloody crazy, fanaticaly religious, ironly bitter, psychopathic or loyalist in disguise. It their job but they would as well work as an accountant in the local nurgling factory.
Night Lords. They are different from the others. They didn't rebel due to chaos, but rather they just didn't fit in and were already in trouble pre-heresy. They generally don't embrace chaos, and some disdain mutation so much you could mistake them for loyalists.
Their tactics in the fluff are unlike any other Legion or chapter.
Their lightening armor is cool and very fun to paint.
The NL Omnibus is the best BL book series I've read.

Iron Warriors for their militant pragmatic approach when the expectation is for them to be crazed fanatics.
>>51164690
Word Bearers for their focus on fanaticism and scripture. I don't know why, there's just something pleasing about a traitor legion that still retains loyalist practices, but has perverted them to some degree.
To me The Purge are currently the most interesting warband. I like anything to do with biological and chemical warfare and they also have one of the more unique motivations. I kinda wish there was more fluff around them. Colour scheme looks good too. Dirty olive green and black works well.
Word Bearers for being the most well organized legion, maybe behind the Alpha Legion, but who knows what they're doing. Also, over 70 cultists always make for a good meat shield on the board. Supposedly, Traitor legions supplement is supposed to be pretty awesome for the legions.

Traitor Legions is pretty good. Definitely a step in the right direction after the 6th edition Codex.

Good to hear, I might need to put some money away for it.
Pic is my wip standard bearer from a while ago.

Did not mean to spoiler

Damn, that is really cool!

>"My sons, the galaxy is burning. We all bear witness to a final truth -- our way is not the way of the Imperium. You have never stood in the Emperor's light. Never worn the Imperial eagle. And you never will. You shall stand in midnight clad, your claws forever red with the lifeblood of my father's failed empire, warring through the centuries as the talons of a murdered god. Rise, my sons, and take your wrath across the stars, in my name. In my memory. Rise, my Night Lords."
-The Primarch Konrad Curze, at the final gathering of the VIIIth Legion
I like Red Corsairs, space pirate Marines.
I'm also partial to the Crimson Slaughter because they're as plucky as CSM get.
>>51164690
Word Bearers. They're the only legion that joined Chaos because they liked it and don't regret it. I like that they're just straight up bad guys, no ifs, ands, or buts. It's great. They're evil for the sake of evil, and I like that.
Evil Crusaders being led by Evil Space Jesus sounds cool.
Also, their new colorscheme is great, especially the way Duncan painted it.
Also, the Word Bearers Omnibus is legitimately one of the best BL books I've ever read.

Black Legion. I like that they're mostly organized and disciplined, well at least compared to say EC or World Eaters. Not a big fan of Abaddon, but rather the legion around him. The whole speartip strike is pretty cool too.

My nigga.
I like how they illustrate the nihilistic side of Nurgle.
From Iron, cometh Strength.
From Strength, cometh Will.
From Will, cometh Faith.
From Faith, cometh Honour.
From Honour, cometh Iron.
This is the Unbreakable Litany, and may it forever be so

But they don't have honor anymore.

That's Loyalist talk.

Iron Warriors are the best legion ever.

OFFICIAL CHAOS SPACE MARINE POWER LEVELS:
1. Iron Warriors
2. Night Lords
3. Word Bearers
4. Alpha Legion
5. Thousand Sons
6. World Eaters
7. Death Guard
8. Black Legion
9. Emperors Children
>>51175825
Solid list though black legion should always be last or off the list all together.
>>51175825
Invert the list and you've almost got it right! Flawless Host still best though.
>>51175825
Is this power or coolness?
>>51165196
You beat me to it. Nothing terribly deep about them, but their motivations and methods (not to mention their efficiency and competence) are a nice little departure from the 40K norm while still fitting the universe (being omnicidal and all).
Here is one I painted.
>>51166722
that seems so wasted on a chaos marine, but still awesome.
>>51176014
This. Flawless host fucking rule.
>>51174040
We are the best, because we don't meme around like the rest our inferior brothers. Our goals are clear and logical, contrary to those of the gibbering madmen lead by the likes of Fulgrim or Lorgar.
Embrace Chaos as a tool, not a lifestyle.

Word Bearers are cool.

XX Legion
A whole Legion of Operating operators. Maybe they've fallen to chaos, or maybe not. Maybe everything we've read about them is true, or maybe it's all fabrication.
I love the covert, double and triple cross, sneak attacky nature of the AL.
>>51179028
That's it. After I finish my SM army I'm doing a small The Purge warband.

Iron Warriors, because Dozer Blades
