Chess ?
Post a top down board, and /tg/ will play.

It's probably easier to play through lichess. I'll give 5/2 time controls to anyone who wants to play me.

STAT HIM /tg/
How do I asimilate my opponent's chessence once I defeat him?
Why would I waste my time with a solved game?
Shit game, devs no longer update, pawn needs buff and queen is OP. Meta is stale 3/10

Chess isn't solved though
You are thinking of checkers
not solved but close enough to solved that it's more of a game about memorizing patterns, and that's super gay. same reason go and tic tac toe are shit.

checkers isn't solved. you're just playing it wrong. next time you play checkers, wait a few turns in, then move a piece one square to the right or left and see how your opponent reacts. people have been moving diagonally and hopping for ages when you don't actually have to. it's not about destroying your opponents pieces, it's about making them flip the board or quit.

I wish there more or any really abstract strategy threads. I'd love to have some Twixt night with /tg/
Fuck, anything from the 3M bookshelf collection is fucking solid, I understand where I am but I'm not really a fan of table top material with a lot of focus on theme over simplicity other than MTG.

What's everyone's thoughts on fairy pieces? I have 4 extra pieces, and use 1 almost every game - elephant, eagle, cannon, and leopard.
The Eagle is an Alfil/Wazir (aka a waffle or phoenix)
The Cannon is a mann/grasshopper (aka a scorpion)
The Elephant is a ferz/3leaper (aka a Frog)
I just mix these in and play random chess.
