Is Vampire Nighthawk cheesy? Do you intentionally avoid playing "cheese" against your friends?

This is like, the fairest fair card in fair town.
How is this in any way cheesy? I mean, it's a vampire, I guess...?
Me and my friends usually seek out cheese and play against it. If you actively avoid cheese, learning how to counter it when you come across it will be difficult.

That's an overpowered card right there. Flying alone on a 2/3 for 3 is pretty decent for black, and either deathtouch or lifelink would have been fair, but both are a nasty combination. It's only saving grace is that it's still within bolt range.
A fair card, and you need not look any further, is something like Skyknight Legionnaire. When you compare a nighthawk to the skyknight, it's kind of obvious why people would think the former is a bit much.

its really not 3 mana is alot and double black restricts it even more

I don't know, family. Have they even made a 3 mana black card with equal power since then?

Define "cheese." In your words.
In EDH games, I really only find it distasteful to play it like singleton Vintage unless everyone else is on that level. Mana Crypt is just a little too much.
I could go on about how arbitrary the EDH banlist is, but that's a whole other topic.
