Stack evasion whenever possible. Equip everyone with a shield. Use the Rawhide Headband to scry his next attack and figure out who he's going to attack as well as manipulate the deck so his more dangerous cards get buried and Applause happens one round early, and then have the target of his next attack use their shield to block. Between your shield block and your dodge survival action that negates two hits per round, so he'll have a hard time landing attacks especially with evasion on your survivors.

I'm surprised this never got discussed. I suppose it was towards the ass end of the Kickstarter where everything was going apeshit crazy and everything was too busy shitposting about the "stretch goal" and the Abyssal Woods expansion it would turn out to be.

But this, this has real potential. This gives you an armor set bonus. No idea what it is, but it almost certainly doesn't stack with other armor set bonuses (that would be pretty blatantly OP). This could be a way of making mixed armor sets more viable. I mean, think about it. "You can claim this if you have a piece of armor equipped at every location and do not already have an armor set bonus. +1 armor to each HL, [small but non-zero benefit]."

If the later innovations follow this trend but more powerful this could seriously change up how gear builds work entirely. I'm excite, honestly. This is cool shit.

Alright, some real talk. I pledged for a bunch this time around after I've seen this game once at a friends place in 2015 and I liked it a bunch.

However I've never done miniatures ever and I would love to learn to paint them. Since I don't want to fuck it up badly I want to practice.

The actual equipment to paint stuff.
Preferably some good tutorials on painting minis.

The game was out, but it's totally sold out. The latest Kickstarter is for an update to the game, and made the new 1.5 core available for those who missed the first KS and the first print run. A 1.5 update pack was available for those who had the game. Of course this KS is ended, so use the Tabletop Simulator plugin to try it out, or wait until November to get it yourself, or con some lonely nerd into letting you play with their copy.

This is an actual game, and though Normies found out about it and got into it this time (Last time they just made fun of it), it's a settlement building/dungeon diving game that already had 12 Expansions and added 15 more, plus a box with mini expansions. It's a lot of fun, but it definitely is a lot of cash. If you got it at kickstarter price than absolutely, no question about it, you'd be safe even buying it just to resell (though we'd all think you're scum for doing so).

At full retail value, it depends on if you have friends you would enjoy playing it with. If you have three gaming buddies (or one dedicated friend if you both want to play two characters) who would be down to play a Bloodborne-hard board game, where seeing how your beloved survivors will die is part of the fun, then it might be worth it.

I'd say if Poots opens it up to late backers then go for it, but otherwise you have plenty of time to decide if it's worth it to you before it actually comes out again.

I recommend, for practice both with assembly and painting, to go buy a Start Collecting box from GW. If you can find a store that sells GW stuff at 20% off then a Start Collecting box will run you $68 USD and, depending on the faction, get you a serious pile of plastic to practice on. Faction obviously doesn't matter, choose whatever you want. Don't play the game, though. Friends don't let friends play Warhammer.

From there you'll need clippers, superglue / plastic cement, an exacto knife, and preferably some diamond grit files. Green stuff to practice filling gaps is also good.

To paint, guess what, you'll need:

Sandable auto primer is the best, don't get gaming shit go buy the Duplicolor sandable primer at Walmart or an auto shop.
>Brushes
Raphael, Davinci, and Winsor & Newton are all good options, get kolinsky sable size 1 and size 0 round brushes. You could go with Army Painter red sable brushes, but they're not much cheaper and very much an inferior product. A flat tipped nylon drybrush is also a good buy.

Vallejo, P3, GW, Reaper Master Series, Scale75, don't buy too much of one brand until you've tried several and know which one you like best, it's very much a matter of personal taste. Getting a small starter pack isn't a bad idea, but

GW and Army Painter make great washes. Andrea and Secret Weapon do too, I hear, but I've never used them.
>Varnish / Sealant
Get brush on matt varnish. Brand typically doesn't matter. You don't want gloss or satin. You should always seal / varnish your minis after you're done painting them. Don't use your good brushes with this, though, as it isn't actual paint and will damage brushes. Use cheap throwaway brushes.

Many varieties, never heard anything bad about them. Keep your good brushes in good shape.

Last things, Duncan is obviously not the end all be all but he gives a good way to start painting. There are many, many more techniques than the ones he demonstrates. Eventually you'll have the basics down and want to go experimenting, and that's fine. Painting Buddha is a good example of another youtube channel which has some much more complicated stuff going on in it. (An aside: I personally really like youtube channels for painting tutorials as I learn better by seeing than by description. YMMV.)

Practice is worth more than theorycraft. Watching all the painting videos on the internet won't do shit if you don't actually practice. If you start now you should be able to paint that entire Start Collecting box before the KD:M core set arrives. At that point, assuming you are not a bloody fucking idiot and are capable of actual self assessment and improvement then you should be more than ready to paint KD:M.

How weird can you be? Here, let me give you some tips:

1. Practice proper hygiene. Wash everyday (Only use Shampoo/Conditioner a couple times a week, as too much will dry out your hair), and that includes your face, your armpits, genitals, and butthole. Brush your teeth at least twice a day.

2. Fix your diet. Eat real food and not junk food. Sure the sugary and salty foods are tasty, but eating real, whole foods (especially fruits and vegetables) will do wonders not just for your health, but your mood and disposition, which will help you socialize.

3. Exervcise 3 - 5 times a week. This can be as simple as going for a walk every day. Try to work in at least 30 to 60 minutes of exercise. Again, not just for your physical health, but for emotional and mental health as well.

4. Get away from the computer, force yourself out into the world. DO something that doesn't involve sitting in front of a screen for hours on end. Take a class, join a club, etc. You'll be forced to socialize and learn how people interact. It doesn't work if you don't look other people in the eye. Maintain eye contact, but don't stare intensely.

5. Try to like yourself more. No one wants to be around someone who can't even stand themselves. You're probably putting out all these self-loathing body language without realizing it. Don't hunch, stand up straight, and if you are self-depricating, cut that shit out. Even if you find yourself cornered, people holding torches and pitchforks at you, proudly proclaim that you are NOT an animal. You ARE a human being. You deserve decency and respect, and that especially means your own.

Hopefully by the time the game comes out, you'll have made at least 3 friends.

I've played Kingdom Death alone, and with friends.
It's a very different experience.

If you want to get the most out of your substantial KD:M investment, do both. That'll get it down to a very respectable $1.50/hr.

Also, don't forget the hobby hours you spend assembling it. I'm something like 40 hours into game assembly, building new survivors as I have need of them, painting as I have need to.

As for self-loathing being visible and warning people off, that's something that's hard to get past but it's also to varying degrees quite common. It's not the reason, but it's not helping. I haven't succeeded in life, because I'm not done with it yet. Only in death will I be done changing, grasping, and fighting. Last year was a real bad one for me. There were times I thought it would be the year I gave up and ended it all. I broke myself a little bit. I ended up becoming a total pothead to escape myself. I was forced to seek help, something I hate doing, but you know what?

It's better. I'm better, and I'm gonna keep getting better. Gonna keep on my grind and try to find the things that I enjoy. If you need help, there is no shame in asking for it. You have to remember. You're not a parasite, you are a human being, and you deserve to be treated as such, but no one is going to do that unless you treat yourself like one. Change starts from within. If you're angry, be angry, get a fire in your belly, and find that thing that makes you angry and change it. If you're sad, be sad. Cry your eyes out. Growing up, my mother didn't allow me or my siblings to cry, and I spent years keeping myself from doing it. It fucked me up. This year, I couldn't held back, and it happened. I cried, i grieved, for myself, for the things in my life, my mother, my father, my brothers and sisters, and it happened in front of other people, which was unthinkable.

They apparently used to have a Great Library as their base that fell some time in the past leaving the survivors to wander in small teams. With the introduction of the Lost Knight it's possible that the Twilight Order is a survival of a group dating back to the Lion Civ, chosen to inherit their culture and armaments. They seem to really hate Watchers (seeing as Poots has claimed that the Watcher 'devours history' and TKs and Archivists are preservers, that makes sense).

White Speakers are a bloody-handed cult. They don't seem to have or need a home base but as of Red Witches they may well have some monster-symbiosis going on.

You'll find it, dude. It won't happen overnight. You will have to make that decision to change everyday. Sometimes it'll be easy, other times it will be hard. One of those hard decisions might be to leave and get on with your life. I don't know, as I don't know what your life is. You can do it, though. You'll still go through pain and hardship, but you'll bear it better, because you've been through it before, but you've gotten through it and hit the next leg of the trip full of fear and hardship but every once in a while you'll be walking along and realize in that moment that outside of you, the sun is shining, the air is sweet, and you'll just think to yourself "Isn't that nice?" and wonder why you never noticed it before, and then realize it was always there and you just didn't notice it. It won't last forever, because nothing does, but in that sweet moment, things were okay and nothing hurt, and that's just fine. It could be anything, something that exists beyond the bounds of yourself that is lovely and nice, and even if the world stops turning, that moment will always be there in your memory. Who knows, maybe it's already there, waiting for you to remember. Be well.

No, I don't have much confidence in my writing, funnily enough. While in a lot of ways I was disadvantaged in terms of emotional and mental stability, I was lucky that early on my parents were pretty well off and well educated, and I inherited a love of reading from them, even if they were pretty terrible parents though looking back, it's because they were both pretty damaged people to begin with and shouldn't have had kids in the first place.
