What happened to the pylons ?

My understanding is that chaos forces (mainly) went in and out of the Eye via Cadia because it was much safer/more reliable than going out in any other direction. But it was only safer because of Necron pylons that were on Cadia.

Remove Cadia and Chaos loses the pylons that are holding their safe/reliable route open.
>>

He takes Creeds hand
>>
>>51090887

What I dont get is if Chaos saw the diminishing light of the emperor why didnt the Imperials see the power of the warp going away?
>>

how is anyone supposed to take Abby seriously when he has that ridiculous topknot?

just look at it! jesus
>>
>>51091573
Pylons activated
Chaos demons go poof, possessed in pain, chaos marines lose chaos buffs, problem is they are still marines.
celestine becomes a mortal woman, allied psykers killed or incapacitated, oh and void shieds protecting planet go poof.

Abbadon nearly kills creed, gets backstabbed by celestine, he teleports away, pylons manage to shrink eye, overload and explode the planet. The end.
>>
>>51091625
Psykers, short of Navigators, have nothing to do with the Emperor. They get their power from the warp. The pylons going into overdrive acted like a Pariah, blotting out the warp completely.
>>
>>51091609
What, like in marriage?

but didnt the Imperials have

nu40k lore is poorly written garbage designed to appease to autists who wanted a story moving shit forward . I have yet to find anyone who likes any of this shit.

Like Cadia could have still blown up that would have been awesome and grimdark but from the pages we have read this shit wouldnt even get a C in a creative writing class.

>Trayzen: Turn on the Pylons

>Cadia explodes
>Trayzen: Oops
The End

I'd say the biggest joke is that Cadia didn't even get rekt by chaos, if it weren't for the fact that getting cut off from the warp screwed the Imperium and helped chaos.
>>
>>51091780
The problem isn't 'the bad guys win,' because we all know that Abaddon had to win eventually for the story to progress.

The problem was that it was such an anticlimax.
>>
>>51091805

Newcronfag here Trayzen is pants on head retarded all of the necron royalty legitimately does not know how to use their own fucking technology they only care as long as it works. So you got Trayzen going to Cadia acting like the average 4chan poster saying he defiantly knows how this shit works. Only he doesn't and really needed a cryptek which he forgot to bring.

Just like how Abbadon and Creed forgot about their fucking armies.

I feel like this shits on Imperial,Chaos, AND Necron fags at the same time.

Each side showed pants on head retardation and I really doubt the rest of the book is any better even if it ditches herohammer wanking.

The fucking Magos could just activated the Pylons, push the eye back, then crumble to the micro fissures mention in the eye of terror campaign.

Pylons gone, eye push back a bit. No pylons means the eye can expand freely. Abaddon sets a foothold in Cadia. Next book Take Cadia Back.

But we got retarded story instead.

They are still an angry horde of super kill-happy CSM on the planet. It doesn't matter that they lost some of their power, the traitors feeling that they were right all along compensated for the lose of Chaos power by making them fight harder.

The Imperials felt the light of the Emperor fading and the Celesting magically inspired courage was drained from them leaving them with no spiritual or mental backup.

Trazyn had a good laugh.
He was like, "Hey, yo, Imperials! Can we be buddies? I'll share toys from my collection with you if you let me play!"
And they were like "Sure, buddy. BTW Inquisitor sends her regards, says she couldn't pick the right flowers to send you back."
But then he fucked up and activates the pylons (you always need more of).
Pylons overcharge, Eye of Terror shrinks, then expands, then shrinks again and Cadia goes *BOOOOOOOOOOM!*

Poor Trazyn is looking from the sidelines with a silly face and a comic bubble saying 'Nyoro~n' next to him.

Gotta say, I do love Warhammer 40k lore. It attracts so many edgy kids who you can smear shit over by diving deep into it.

You could then say that for all Chaos daemon models since the beginning of 40k, since all of them were dual use for 40k and fantasy. Their whole point is to look over the top and fantastical in the middle of 40k's sci-fi setting.

Or should I say less of a setting and more of a story now...

And on that subject since the thread is mostly about it - I want to say something to all of you who have been crying about wanting a moving story all these years. I told you. I warned you about what happened to Battletech's story with the Jihad faction reset. I told you how much better a rich setting was than a moving story - your own imagination can give you the story for your own guys. You don't need hack writers to do it for you when your mind has access to a setting as deep as an ocean. But you didn't listen. Now enjoy your End Times 40k. Don't cry now. Didn't your mom ever tell you to be careful what you wish for? You literally killed Saint Celestine. Her divine blood is on your wretched hands. Repent!

Any rules for the new Detachments?
>>
>>51091573

Apparently Abby's plan has changed. He figures that the Imperium is so bloated with people and corruption that he can literally ride a wave of human death and suffering out of the Eye of Terror and have a tendril of Warp Storm slither its way to the Solar system and all the armies of the Dark Gods with it.

Basically the more things suffer, die and worship the Dark Gods, the weaker the veil between worlds gets. Thus more Daemons can cross over. Who then kill more shit and release the raw tainting influence of the Warp into the world. Which causes more mortals to suffer, die or cast their lot in with the powers of Chaos. Then the feedback loop brings them all the way to Terra. No ship navigation required at all.
>>

Abaddon made the Imperials so damn desperate they turned to foul Xenos tech and caused their own destruction.
It proves that when the chips are down the Emperor can't save you and that even the most loyal of imperials loose hope in the face of Abaddon and will turn to ANYTHING that promises salvation.
The fear of Chaos is what caused Cadia's to succumb to stupidity.
Sure it doesn't make Abaddon look competent like he desperately needs and sure it's a lot of head canon, but it's all i have.

About all the "Warp is gone, but somehow Chaos is less affected than the Imperium, Duh" shit. If you want to make Chaos win don't give a massive "Win" button to the Imperium.

The worst part is that it's not even that the Chaos army manage to use it to it's advantage, just that the Armless faillure bitchslap Celestine and cut Creed hand; while the army stand and are like "we just gonna watch and accept this duel as the result of the battle".
>>
>>51093639

Nobody is mentioned doing that. Hell, its even mentioned that Abby has convinced the Renegades out in the Maelstrom to tear shit up at the same time to divert resources away from the Eye. The gist of it is that Abby has cultivated enough favors, played politics and curried enough of the Gods' favor that he has gathered most of the forces of Chaos into the 13th Black Crusade.

Anyone who would dare interfere would have no choice of winning and make an enemy out of nearly everyone.
>>
>>51093710

Imperium is affected because faith has tangible effects in 40k, like bolstering morale, and these are warp-based. Basically it would be a boardwide Ld penalty and guardsmen are more affected than CSM with Veterans of the Long War. They also saw Celestine get depowered which was extra demoralizing.

And ? This is not like the Skiitari cannot feal fear for the majority of them, that the Guards have a strict hierarchy with people existing to push the guy to fight even if death is inevitable. Or that many Astartes actually know that the Emperor is a psyker and would not be demoralized by such act.

Not like the Chaos, even the Black Legion, have used to live bathing in warp energy and that they rely much more than the Imperium on it, with all their Psyker, possessed and demonic ally.

Either they'll have to start extending events into the 42nd Millennium, or rewind and start focusing on earlier events again.

I could see them possibly making new events out of Chaos spilling from the Eye of Terror now that Cadia is gone but, again, that may most likely require them to push into M42.

Black Legion and Crimson Slaughter generally don't care about Chaos. They just use it as tools for their ends. Losing their magic and blessing was compensated by the morale boost of witnessing the Light of the Emperor die out.

Cadians have fought chaos forces for 10 thousands years, almost non stop at it, it stood without celestine on the field and now that she got a new model if her light suddenly goes away it fucks up the morale of a fighting force of that calibre?

Who wrote this garbage?
>>
>>51095057
>More recently, Darkhammer has become determined to stop his nemesis Helynna Valeria from uncovering the Xenos artifact Dimensional Forge, a device capable of creating a null zone light years in diameter that Daemons could not penetrate. Darkhammer would issue an Exterminatus order to the Hive World of Cavlock after he discovered Valeria suspected the Dimensional Forge was hidden there. Using the pretext of preventing a Daemonic incursion from spreading, Darkhammer condemned billions to death in order to foil Valeria. Valeria has since declared Darkhammer Excommunicate Traitoris and has hunted him across Segmentum Obscurus to seek revenge for the destruction of the Dimensional Forge.

>Later, on Mindo Station, the Acolyte warbands of Valeria and Darkhammer came to battle. The fight lasted a day and a half until Darkhammer and his forces escaped aboard a starliner.

The Forge thing would have been useful on Cadia though.

They have lived in the warp for gods know how long. ALL their stuff is at least partially warped.
And while the Black legion isn't word bearers tier of corruption, they aren't especially clean either (that would be the Iron warriors, and even then only a part of them).

CSM aren't just SM with pikes, they are physically changed by the warp, especially the older ones.
Hell, it's not unusual for CSM to be partially or totally fused with their armour. Those shouldn't even be able to move. Some should simply drop death from withdrawal.
Even the less warped of them use sorcerers more than the imperium use psykers.

I mean, it's ridiculous, they just needed to give ground victory to the Imperium and make it irrelevant by space annihilation. It even work great thematically to give the Imperium pointless victory.

Abaddon want to destroy Cadia, the only stable gate out of the Eye of Terror... Ok fine he wanted it destroy. So he doesn't bring the Planet Killer, you know his ship that can blow up planets, nor his Black Stone Fortresses.

The pylons in a dormant state were radiating a null aura that kept the Eye at bay.

They were on, but nobody knew how to fire them.

>Ok fine he wanted it destroy. So he doesn't bring the Planet Killer, you know his ship that can blow up planets, nor his Black Stone Fortresses.

He did. But he also wanted to humble the defenders of the Imperium for the sake of his pride.

>Also Fall of Cadia, Cadians are a footnote in the whole conflict.

That's simply not true.
>>
>>51097146
Still he has the planet killer. Why not just use that.

Do not try to defend this retarded lore.

Also why the fuck do we need good or bad guys? Are we starwars now?

>>51097106
>Mutant don't need connection to the warp
>Like they are not affected if the Warp stop to exist where they are
>Thing which are so much mutated they will die without the blessing of the god not affected by that.

It's like saying a Chaos Spawn health is not affected by it's mutation.

I'm not saying they would die, but their moral and capacity should at least be affected.
>>
>>51097028
>So he doesn't bring the Planet Killer, you know his ship that can blow up planets, nor his Black Stone Fortresses.

The developers in the WD said that Abaddon can easily blow up the planet from above but said that would be anticlimactic. They wrote the fluff where Abaddon had to land and fight so the end of Cadia would feel more epic.

chaos spawns die out without magical supplies making the mutations actually work

We've seen mutants survive a warp void.
The entire point of mortal chaos followers is to go where daemons cannot.

Ok, stay a Chaosfag and whine about how even after all of this Abbadon is still a failure of a character. The Chaos was wearing plot armor and nothing excuse the pathetic excuse for a story they try to write.

Yep.

Their desire for revenge is stronger, and as Space Marines they're far braver than mere guardsmen.

I don't really care either way what happens, i don't invest myself to such an extent into an army that i am emotionally devastated if they decide to write some shit where they lose. Fucking hell. I think its cool things are happening, if it wasnt this the same bullshit arguments would be taking place over who is more powerful ad infinitum. I'm sure they will still leave things in such a place that your special snowflakes are still the bestest most special snowflakes in all the land that could potentially change it all if xyz happens.

You know they could had the same effect but Abaddon getting a foothold in Cadia and the Pylons crumbling.

Exploding Cadia would had been fine in another book, when Abaddon leaves the planet and blows it out of spite with his planet killer.

So old and new fluff can work. But destroying the damn planet by accident by a Mago that has 10,000 years of experience with this kind of shit is just poor writing.

Ah, one of the 'advance the plot' spergs! Games don't have 'plots', moron: they have SETTINGS. If a game had a plot, then all you could do as a player is follow the plot - but that's not how games work, is it, sunshine?
Games require player input. There is no plot to follow; the players make their own decisions and a plot is imagined from their interactions.

You know that is goalpost moving. Abaddon has been written again as Abaddon the Failure.

If he wanted to destroy Cadia just use the planet killer.

But noooo they wrote him as a saturday morning cartoon villain. He went down just to get stab by a weakened and beaten up woman, with the help of DISTRACTION CREED

Fall of Cadia leaves both the Imperium and Chaos as Incompetents.
>>
>>51098782
Please, chaosfag - if you keep wanking it this hard, it will fall off. OF COURSE dear abby was TOTALLY gonna wipe Cadia; he was just PRETENDING to be stupid when he got cornholed while gloating over Creed. And Chaos was TOTALLY responsible for Trazyn helping the archmagos fuck up and lose Cadia.
Not bad writing at all...

>he was just PRETENDING to be stupid when he got cornholed while gloating over Creed.

No, even Abaddon admits he was being stupid there. He talks about his pride getting in his way.

>And Chaos was TOTALLY responsible for Trazyn helping the archmagos fuck up

No, but regardless of what Trazyn and Cawl did he would have destroyed the planet anyway.

>Not bad writing at all...

Can you explain why it is bad other than the fact you don't like the plot?

>>51098497
t. Autist that can't into rethorics
>>
>>51096858
And in that story, literally everything that had daemons in it turned off, worked like shit, or fell apart. Darioq Grendhal, the DarkMech Magos, literally got super cancer because his daemon-infused warp machinery broke down inside his body. Word Bearer Ships and tanks and cogitators stopped working because the daemons within them got btfo. Teleporters and Warp travel became explicitly impossible.

Of course Reynolds forgot this 30 pages later and had the WeeBees launch a successful terminator assault by mass teleport (you know, the thing he said couldn't work) but *shrug* editing is for other people I guess?

Could have been a series of short stories set during the quiet autumnal period of their seasons when the trees turn a beautiful brown then are purged with flames because it's a sign of heresy.

A series of stories chronicling the forbidden love between a magos and a pylon. Following the aging creed as he tries to come up with a strategy to win Celestines heart.

All geedubs wants is enuf hype to sell this shitty new thing. It's shit. It's utter shit, heaped upon festering garbage. They couldn't have made it more underwhelming and jaw-droppingly retarded. Twelve year olds write this junk; and nine year olds think it's great.

Geedubs has switched from selling massive armies to selling massive individual figures - better profit margin, looks nicer on the spreadsheet than making a small percentage off many many sales (because execs can't into maths). They will pinch and scrimp and gouge until there's nothing left of the company, like a dog eating its own entrails.
>>
>>51099218
The fact that the whole thing ends with everything but the Guard absent suggests that everything else died.

Obviously we'll have to wait to know for certain, but all signs point to the Imperials getting bowled over utterly and Armless still almost getting his shit pushed in despite that.

but its recently that that's been the focus it feels like.

Look at Armageddon, Tycho's story was great, even though he dies to regular orks, and the war is decided by armies clashing, not Ghaz duelling Yarrick.
>>
>>51099323

Are you making a comparaison betwen fucking Horus and Abbadon ? Like a Living demi-god that was at this point near the fusion with the 4 god of chaos and Armless the Harmless ?

The reason it's work was because the rebell Primarch were hating each other, they were just eating Big E more, just enough to Horus to keep them united. Big E realised that Horus was growing to strong to anybody but him to kill him. His death, the one of fucking Horus, not someone like a Living saint or a (great, but still) general, weaken the Chaos Force enough to allow the loyalist, guided by the primarch to repell the crippled Chaos Force. And this work because it's CHAOS, you know, a unstable force, constantly on the edge of infighting and needing some serious shit to unite.
