Jumper, have you ever been a Mad Scientist?

>>51084607
>I... Can you give me a source for that?
Skulduggery changed to necromancy after his family died, he then returned to Elemental later. His "focus" is still going strong even after he has gone back so this could be an example of someone completely ignoring the one magic thing all together.

He also states outright at one point that while rare it is possible to change your discipline post surge.
>>
Konosuba Jump when?
>>
>>51084771
Have you ever been a sane scientist? It's not nearly as fun.
>>
>>51084771
I just ended my third jump. Tried to reverse-engineer pokemon potions and such. Didn't go well. I'm not a genius scientist, and the experts I brought in thought it was a hoax.
>>
>>51084790
>Konosuba
An anime SOL jump would be better because we could pick the specific one we want to go to
>tfw there'll never be a YRYR jump.
>>
>>51084824
There already is a SoL jump.
It's just not the same.
>>
>>51084778
That's literally what Dual Disciplines is based on. I'm pretty sure the explanation was that some people can potentially use two types of magic, not that anyone can switch.
>>
>>51084824
A generic anime SOL Jump? Would there even be enough content to differentiate it from the current SOL Jump?
>>
>>51084824
Fuck that, I want a Konosuba jump too. That show's fucking great.

They don't have that much in common. I mean, Genius Geniuses don't go into fugues, their technology doesn't fall apart when they make contact with muggles, and what they do is Science in Universe, rather than doing something that explicitly isn't science to the point where one of the groups is seeing how much pseudo scientific bullshit they can shove in before whatever fuels wonders stops working.

Got a question for thread.

Remember the saga of Write!Jumper? Mostly regarding the dual identity problem in Pokemon and taking a bullet in the shoulder in FMA? The latest bit of writefaggotry I've done?

Thinking of this from a narrative perspective, I'm not sure where to send them next. I want to force them out of their protective shell with the right amount of danger, but I also don't want the chain to break down into glorified despair and trauma train all the time.

Avoiding the obvious answer of 'just do Kamen Rider', anyhow.

Toss me ideas, particularly things you'd genuinely think would be fun to watch play out.
>>
>>51085201
>rather than doing something that explicitly isn't science to the point where one of the groups is seeing how much pseudo scientific bullshit they can shove in before whatever fuels wonders stops working.
What? You seem to be mixing up Genius and Sparks, you are saying that geniuses don't do something and then refer to Wonders, what geniuses call their creations.

>>
>>51085166
It's showing we're against the shitposter. I don't see anyone wanting to argue for him. I like the idea of showing him that he'll never win. Christmas, New Years and now this. It's hilarious.

Red has asked you to stop in the IRC.
Regardless of what you're trying to do she would rather you didn't.
There is literally nobody besides the shitposter that likes him.
You do not need to show solidarity. That is a given.
>>
>>51085306
Yes and I'm saying that Red herself probably doesn't appreciate the inevitable backlash from this. If you want to support her, there's other ways to do it.

If you just want to be against the shitposter, please find a way that won't force her to be a martyr for shit. She has to deal with enough already without people using her as a symbol and if you're really against the shitposter, you should be able to understand that too.

1. Pokemon Trainer
Location: Johto
Age: 10, Origin: Drop-In
Starter: Drowzee
Perks: Physical Fitness, Freerunning, Blend In, Aura, Savant
Items: Bag, Pokegear, Pokedex, 5 Pokeballs, 3 Potions, Hat
Flaws: Crippled, Marked

I do my best not to care why she chose me for this. The bed in the pokemon center is lumpy and I have some adorable fatass laying half on me so he can wake up early and eat part of my mind while I sleep, and all it cost me is a leg. That's more than enough for me to tell myself not to worry about it, but not really enough to actually stop me from worrying about it.

She was so adamant about getting me to go, no matter how much I insisted I'd be just as boring wandering around. I couldn't keep up the counter-arguments, but I couldn't bring myself to say no. How could anyone say no to a free tapir? Especially one so cuddly? She even said she could figure out ways to make the wandering interesting. Like rescuing sea otters from getting their tails chopped off. Who could let something like that happen?

So, I hug my Somni and try to get into a happy REM cycle, and keep blaming other people for my better decisions.

What's the confusion? If it's content-wise, er. You're not wrong to.
The individual shows are best thought of as individual verses, even doing the Parts the way I did was my attempt to pay homage to the Showa jumps
The only reason they connect at all is Toei being weird and trying to pretend in some cases that the previous kamen riders exist

Wow, so apparently I managed to piss off house Harkonnen pretty badly. Something about creating a Ghola of someone from their house without their consent… for a rival house… so they could dig up the dirt the person knew. So maybe this version of me wasn’t the most moral, and maybe they had a point but I had to find some place where they were not so I decided the enemy of my enemy… apparently house Atreides had been given control of Arrakis and they also hated the Harkonnens so it seemed like a good time to visit.

So I managed to make friends with Duke Leto. Well… ok he thought I was kind of slimy honestly but the idea of harboring someone to piss off house Harkonnen wasn’t entirely unappealing to him. Anyways I was staying at his palace. I had secured a job engineering some plants to survive the harsh desert climate… when suddenly all hell broke lose. Apparently the place was under attack, my companions and I were in the middle of putting it down when we found out that it wasn’t just Harkonnen but the Emperor’s men as well.

(to be continued)
>>
>>51086508
I managed to save Duke Leto by pure luck (I stumbled across the doctors attempt to assassinate him.) We subdued to Yueh but realized we were kind of screwed. I managed to get the info that Yueh’s wife had been captured by Harkonnen. Maybe it was my more slippery ethics but we managed to slap one of the attackers awake, tweak his memory so he remembered killing the Duke and Had the Doctor take Leto’s ring. We had Leto and family gather supplies and sneak off to go hide out with the freman.

I then saved Yueh when Baron Harkonnen double crossed him. It felt better than it probably should have beating the crap out of the Baron. Something about that man’s face just felt so good to punch.

Sadly we had to withdraw when more men came so we headed out to join up with the Duke. Though Yueh was kind of a broken man at that point; It took a lot of time afterwards working with him to help him come to terms with his loss and what he had done.

Harkonnen’s forces bore down on the Fremen desperate to capture me and Leto (though probably mostly me at this point) I realized this was kind of my fault so I decided to fix it. Sadly I couldn’t use a robot army so I decided to introduce Kryptonian DNA and Intelligence Enhancement (With light of the empire from fallen London) to a few Sandworms. Now I realize this may sound like a terrible idea... but the mad scientist part of me reassured me that I could probably manage anything that went wrong.

Thankfully the newly uplifted sandworms liked me… they didn’t mind the freman and they really hated everyone else. They were also flying and invulnerable. The sandworms basically took over the planet and I was able to negotiate peace between them and the empire (actually they surrendered after the found out the sandworms could reach space).

Jump #238: West Wing
>Death, reversed: The refusal to let go of the past.
Actually, I choose to interpret this one more literally: there is a particular instance where Bartlett is angry because someone died. So I'm going to make a point of ensuring she lives through her car crash, utterly unscathed against all odds, and then rub his nose in it. Martin Sheen needs to be brought down a peg.

>Speaking Truth To Power (150, Aide)
This'll help if I ever need to actually have a word to two with someone important. Like the leader of the free world. Because I will.
>Rolodex (0, Aide)
I have the numbers of literally every major person in the world's governments now. LET THE TROLLING COMMENCE.

The election years are odd in this world. Bartlett was elected in 1998 instead of 2000, but it works.

So there are a number of various crises that happen, and it's my self-appointed job to make sure the president comes out of it smelling like a rose. And... honestly? That wasn't even that hard for the most part, which left me with time to change things with the whims of a mortal and the powers of a god. Certain people didn't die when they might have, certain strings were pulled and a kidnapping attempt on Bartlett's daughter was botched before it even got off the ground, Leo McGarry survived his heart attack in 2006, and so on.
>>
>>51087324
And then there's that whole 'oh he's got multiple sclerosis and shouldn't run for reelection' bullshit, which incidentally is complete bullshit. We've had presidents in wheelchairs, and somehow it turned out that either the diagnosis was completely wrong or he was mysteriously healed of it. What a thing. It still ended up increasing funding for MS research in the jump though, so that was a thing.

Most of this jump was me doing my job as best I could, but... I can't stop myself from being a good person and trying to make a difference where I can. There are a large number of terrorist attacks that never happened, for instance, and I'm sure that I don't need to name names - that's a thing I constantly do, look for major losses of life and act to stop them from happening. This is especially true in more 'real' settings, where there's a higher population density. I don't intervene in every case, but... places where there's senseless loss of life? You'd better believe I'm going to do something about that where I can. Otherwise, why have clairvoyance at all?

What is it about your State that makes people want to legitimately leave Earth?
>>
>>51087428
It's not that it's a bad state, but it's much of a sameness throughout. It's good at inspiring wanderlust. Some just get it in a greater degree than others.

The best part is that, when all is said and done, you can still come back home in the end. Even if home has changed. Also, the housing market is not as insane here as it is in some places - I expect to be buying a home in the next year and I shouldn't have to pay more than $30k for it.

You're capped at I think at or a little below Pokemon level. I forget which. But basically yeah, you can do probably whatever a Lucario can do with its Aura powers, provided you train up. Yeah, that's totally what would happen.

People could still get off to the idea of you, either just spending time with you, or talking or listening to you. And they can still find you physically attractive. People don't just go, "Wow, a dick! I'm so into that!", and forget all the other parts. You have an entire body and a whole personality. There are lots of parts.
And, honestly? Depending on how much they care about your personal feelings of the situation, they might not even care if you can get off or not.
Or maybe they'll content themselves to a life of chastity.
Or maybe they'll develop weird new fetishes based on you.
Or maybe they'll try to find a way to "fix" you.

Yeah. Certain uses won't even cause the problem in the first place and if you can patch things up that'll solve the problem entirely.

Uh, major stuff is just reformat and shit. Moving the fluff to the start or end and making it a lot easier to use for actually making Servants. I don't think anything non-fluff is being changed, only new stuff added. Detailed it plenty of times over past threads so I won't bore anyone with it again. ETA...probably a little longer then I said before. Combination of it being insanely hot weather (For me anyway) so it's hard to do anything and splitting my attention with a non Fate jump so I don't burn myself out and never deliver the supplement at all.

Hiya Val, I'm ready to go back to clearing up the NP we talked about earlier.

As I said in a previous thread, if illusions and bounded fields seem a little too broad for the NP, I'd lean more towards keeping the customisable-varying-with-prana-expenditure familars and conceptual annihilation parts.
>>
>>51088841
Erm, right. Anyway, the whole conversation on my side was on the assumption that the only effects the swords had was being on magic fire or buffing the user and being able to turn into familiars, not...a half dozen or so different magical effects. Almost all those other things are too broad for the current concept, at least without reducing from the power in other areas. You could include those other magical effects but unless they're fairly minor, it'll mean taking a number of hits to the maximum power of the whole thing.

After that, what I meant in the previous thread when I asked what you were looking to get out of them seems to hvae been misheard. I meant "What rank/rough level of power do you want each of these (Sword, Fire or Buffing effect, Familiars) to be at?". If I have that info, then we can work out what's the highest level of power each one of them can be at or if you want to put more into one at the cost of the others and so on.

I can't say I remember anything about 'conceptual annihilation' ever coming up though, but if you want something like that, it means a very big hit to what the rest of it's going to be able to achieve.

"Be nice to yourself" is one I've been trying to keep in mind for this chain, since I usually default to trauma chain if I don't. Lots of hardship and bad times and varying horror. Likely gonna help this chain go farther (to have nice things to do in addition to the lows) since things just stop being super threatening unless you go looking for fights.

I've also been trying to develop companion story lines and have been taking Jumps to help them keep up or even surpass Jumper in strength and/or utility to make it seem more like a multiverse hopping party instead of multiverse hopping guy "and friends". It's mostly because I like Jumping as me, but I'm not terribly ambitious or outgoing, which is what the companions are for.

I have no idea. I don't believe anyone's tried to use it on them in series, despite there definitely being stuff like exorcisms or other spirit specific stuff. I'd imagine, since they are spirits, that they would be affected but I also imagine they'd have resistances to it too. I think it'd just depend on what you're using and at what power.

No drawback limit.
I reincarnate in every jump, and stay till I die of old age or Jump-chan decides there's nothing to do for me any more.
I can decide location, age, and gender for free.

As for a theme, well, there isn't really one. My jump-chan is fluffed as a magical AI tasked to pass on the power of their master onto some being randomly selected, so I can do whatever I want to, as long as I don't die. But I generally go for an archmage feel in how I build, because fuck technology. Magic is #1.

Alright, let's dump the lot of them except for turning into familiars, magical purifying fire (coated on the weapons with low prana expenditure, and the entire projectile turning into a blazing plasma bolt with high prana expenditure) and...shall we say, a Reinforcement-like boost to the Servant's physical capabilities?

>Rank/rough power

Right. Okay, let's say A rank for an individual Sword/Bird Familiar BEFORE adding fire or reinforcement-enhancements to each one. At this point I imagine we're looking at the UBW projectile firing rate and range. I imagine adding fire/reinforcing would functionally deplete the rating of each projectile by one "+" unless a STEEP hike in prana is made to account for manifesting both at the same time. Also a similarly proportionate cost surge would cover raising them to up to A++ rank-or they could be lowered to around C++ rank to vastly increase range and rate of fire. And the charged attack I mentioned that temporarily depletes the whole thing would be an EX attack.

>conceptual annihilation

At this point I'm just struggling to come up with ways of saying "fancy magic lightning bolt that zaps people with a concept holy smite-style" so I keep making things sound more ominous than I meant.

Honestly a lot of the companions I do have are either free or very cheap. I don't buy a lot of companions on purpose.
I think one of the most expensive companions I have is Miss Nadia Fortune, who was 150CP, and she's actually quite active. That is to say, she DOESN'T stay in the void all the time. She can also kick me in the face pretty hard, and it hurts.
That said, periodically I go back and, with the power of RETCON, get rid of companions who I bought and then never used for anything, ever, because at that point it's like I spent CP on nothing.
But that kindof requires me to go pick through 500+ jumps (many of which aren't in any real order, because my jump doc is a god damn mess), and I just have a really hard time remembering all my companions. I don't really have a complete list anywhere.

Like, it's not even that I'm purposefully being mean to them for the sake of comedy or drama or story or whatever. It's just that I'm really bad at keeping track of companions.
Like, really, really bad.
Maybe jumper!me would be better at it. She has eidetic memory and organizing perks. She's pretty on the ball when she wants to be. But me? I have no fucking clue what I'm doing. It's like a tragedy of dumbass.

Anyway, to answer your question, that would require me to be able to keep track of my companions enough to know who exists or not, which ones are active, and which ones are too important to lose.
And that's just not a battle I'm gonna win.

Well to live up to my name, every other jump HAS to be Kamen Rider related. No expies.

Since I've already jumped all available Kamen Rider jumps, I'm basically stuck until Heavens finishes Ryuki.

Although I've been thinking of a workaround. The 'I Cheat' perk in Justice League Dark allows you to mix and match magic systems. Should that be interpreted as all magic being the same as the Kamen Rider brand of magic for the purposes of extending my chain or not?

That...honestly seems really good and spot on already. The most I'd note is that the individual cost for each sword/familiar at base (Before adding any of the enhancements on) would be a quite a fair bit lower then the equivalent rank NP if Archer was trying to project it. So the amount you could push out on the same tank of prana is probably quite a significant amount higher then he could if you both had the same amount of energy. Otherwise the firing rate/range being roughly the same is good, the effects all seem good.

Minor corrections in that adding the fire or reinforcement affect would reduce the sword/familiar rank by one 'rank', not one 'plus' since there's no pluses on them at that point. I'd also say that just the basic level of the fire effect wouldn't cost you any prana to add, since it's already taking a rank off, though pumping it up to higher strength still costs. Manifesting both at once at base levels shouldn't be more then a small drain instead of a big one, since they're both still just the base effects.

Other then those minor corrections/buffs, it looks good.

And yeah, Conceptual Annihilation is a huge difference from "Make people explode in a flashy way from the inside out". Sometimes it's simpler and easier for both parties if you just go the kapow, kersplat, big zappy thing route.

I don't know if they really make things interesting, but my houserules in my current chain are:

1. No companions, because I've just never felt right about taking them with me.
2. However, sometimes I'll make, or use offered, OC companions for free. Their abilities aren't fiat based and they don't come with me after the jump, they instead just represent allies I make during the jump.
3. In-character, I don't choose jumps, perks, or drawbacks.
4. Flip a coin for gender when taking an origin besides drop-in.
5. Every jump where I'm not a drop-in, I get a new body that becomes an alt-form post jump. Shapeshifting makes this mostly redundant, but I do have a large collection of human forms of varying ages and ethnicities.
6. If the main characters are in a school or something that's otherwise age segregated, I can set my age to the same as theirs for free.

Desperation

Hubris.

The paradox of trying to hold on to things like science and order when one is fundamentally an anomalous reality contradiction.

>extra rules

None so to speak of, other than that sufficiently determined and powerful enemies can follow me, as represented by certain drawbacks. Things like Mushoku Tensei's top one can even let them cross over into other jumps.

Not sure if this counts but in general, things tend to have consequences down the line if they are at all possible. For example, making a name for oneself in DC jump does lead to some raised eyebrows in YJ/JLU among the alternate universe-viewing community.

>>51089422
Alright, that works. Thank you!

Technically, my most commonly seen humanoid avatar wears goggles and a longcoat of a sort for the intrepid explorer look.

I have no true physical form. I am a high energy divine reaction held together by narrative, Charms, enlightenment and other metaphysical systems that define my ego. When I want to assume physical form, I make one arise from those phenomena.

Some of them are, indeed, hyperspecialised for interdimensional travel. Like the bit of me that looks like a burning kaleidoscope of aluminium angels, girded with wings of pelegin legend.

Others are specialised for everything from terraforming to petting people on the head.

>>
>>51089383
Actually? Yeah.
I mean, not normally. I do the stealth jumper thing, blending in, the whole bit. But I actually do have a small house rule for thematics.

When I start tapping into existential bullshit, like, drawing on dimensional magics and Fate/style shenanigans, y'know, really starting to skim the borders of what it means to be a jumper, really starting to go "Full Power", chains appear.
Chains and shackles around my neck, torso, and limbs. Chains that link to all my companions, who also have chains (the drawback companions have black metal, the regular companions have bronze) all linked to me, and chains that lead off into nothing.
The chains don't hang loose, they're all connected to something, but if they go too far from the distortion effect that makes them appear they fade away into nothingness. There are always chains that fade into nothingness, connected to something we can never see.
The chains are can't be interacted with except by targeted other-dimensional methods of doing so; in which case, they have so far proven unbreakable, but can be grabbed onto and yanked or pulled, which is uncomfortable.

When this distortion appears, the surrounding area becomes darker, and if sufficiently powerful, may even turn the surrounding area completely black.
When that happens, it looks just like the space I go to between jumps.

That's probably not what you were looking for? But there's no better lead off for me to talk about it.

So, Garlock-ASA, I have been meaning to ask you something. Reading some of your post regarding your ascension and the pastebin that where you did that, aren't you actually sorta-killing mutilating yourself by doing so?

From what I saw, it would seem that you're doing something similar to the voyager witches who ascended into a Creator, or Elaine Belloc during the final arc, losing most of your notion of self as you are highly above most concepts that made up the human mind once you leave the 10th dimensional spaces behind.

What pushed your Jumper to do something like that? How does he even relates to the world right now?

Firstly, the first rule about my harem (for most of my chain, anyway) is that there is no harem.

I have, over milennia, tried to pursue asexuality while recruiting from people I think would both stand to gain something from an endless multiversal exodus, and have talents/personalities I find amenable. I have also made it clear I completely respect my companions' right to diddle whoever they please so long as it doesn't interfere with my plans, and that realistically when NEEDS need to be settled it's best to keep things casual.

...unfortunately, this demographic just so happens to include a lot of sociopathic ladies, a lot of sad girls done a wrong turn by the world and a lot of young women to whom a maverick scientist-king tends to make a big impression on.

The worst part is when I hacked my own psyche to better suit my goals, I "programmed" myself to always seek the most efficient and lasting solution. With the influx of clingy girls, came a need to take more harem perks just to manage things. With an influx of harem perks, the best solution became increasingly close to...harem-like conditions. Something about group dynamics and teambuilding.

It's a vicious damn cycle which has sabotaged a lot of my attempts to maintain professional distance. The Yozis aside, we do not speak of why half of Cauldron couldn't walk right after the first Endbringer defeat-party.

Anyway, most of the others are honestly pretty cool with it for their own reasons. Solaire and Malefor are both happily married to two of the few women who AREN'T attached to me.

They think my current predicament is karmic punishment.

Meanwhile Odin finds it hilarious. He isn't even jealous-he's seen a few people in similar situations, he KNEW about the risks-so he just points and laughs while getting laid at the local bar with someone who isn't a clingy, all-powerful sorceress.

My pets and some robots just hide when certain looks are exchanged.

>aren't you actually sorta-killing mutilating yourself by doing so?

Correction: I am totally treating my soul and manifested self-image the way Dr. Frankenstein treats an unattended morgue. Mind you, most of it happened way back in the day when I was still not sure about my direction in life. I mellowed out a little after becoming my own cosmos.

Oh gosh, I don't know who the voyager witches but I wouldn't say I'm anywhere near Elaine's level of precision. See, Elaine's real gift is that she can be exercise her will intuitively throughout existence. he's a sort of dematerialised force of nature. My sister does have something similar going on, though.

I've refined a lot over the years, but the whole reason I have avatars is because my full presence is a hassle to fit in reality without mutual incompatibility. Achieving post-Primordialhood has helped massively, though.

As for why I did what I did-a long time ago, I had a near death experience with some of the most terrible forces in the multiverse. Specifically, the Dark Powers of Ravenloft. Crucially, Nyarlathotep.

Imagine going through life knowing there were THINGS out there who perceived you and everything you cared about as meaningless as their dad's fever dream.

Imagine knowing they might have a point.

What I did, I did because at that time I was terrified one day something like him would step into the world and sweep it aside like dust. I wanted control over everything, starting from myself. If everything was so much dream to the horrors beyond existence, I wanted to reforge myself into a concept that could provide truly lasting stability against the crawling chaos. And I was ashamed of how many I had to leave behind in Ravenloft, and bitter at the world, and when I first had a taste of power I was drunk on it. Because lording over people without it helped me to pretend I was doing something about the bad memories.

Things happened. I went mad with power, almost lost everything again on a spaceship, fell in love, ignored an epiphany, split up amicably, lost myself, found myself again and was finally forced to confront just how much of a lie I was living many years after I should've gotten the message by my own repressed Shadow.

These days, I maintain a constant struggle to remind myself that my point of view is not the only one. Having a child to look out for helps. Being surrounded by people who did way more with far fewer advantages than I'd ever had and, inexplicably, look up to me helps even more.

Above all else, I remember a long time ago there was a lonely princess who came to see me as her only confidante. Who asked me not to leave her behind on my adevntures. Saw me as...something I could never see in myself. So much that I wasted so much time trying to distance us, when part of her scheming was to reach out to me.

I remember how badly I let her down.

...I remember how bright that smile looked on the day Elodie was crowned.

I remain a fairly cynical entity. If you'd ask me how I'd relate to the average world, I'd tell you it's just so much math and wishful thinking.

I cannot, however, lean on pessimism to pretend that's ALL there is to them anymore. Or for that matter, that it is how they SHOULD be.

My main jumper at the moment is the Survivor.

I've outlined the Survivor's rules before but...They essentially come down to

*(Post-or-Pre-or-Currently-Apocalyptic or Dystopic settings
*Only a single companion slot that has yet to be filled at Jump 17
*Warehouse does not exist, warehouse add-ons are deployed and scattered across the world randomly
*No personality-effecting perks that are not Willpower-based(i.e nothing that would allow them to handle the horrors of their chain except the will to move forward)

>Themes
Survivor took an interesting arc. At first he stayed true to his name, a wandering doctor with survival skills who roughed it out in the Fallout verse, as well as Generic Post Apoc and generic Zombie apoc.
However, he wasn't quite as active as the Coordinator liked. While it was interesting seeing him struggle, the coordinator wanted blood.
Cue Doom, Doom 2016, and High School of the Dead(with the Left 4 Dead and Sprinters drawbacks on, as well as Airborne)
He more or less turned into a massive combat monster, a destroyer of evil
Not that he was a mindless monster. But his heart was so scarred by endless, tireless fighting that even in peacetime he didn't really know what to do with himself
It's super cute to imagine a big tough doom marine-type guy sitting at a campsite by himself, just roasting a rabbit and contemplating the sky
He managed to keep some connection to humanity, as evidenced by being Yoko's adoped onii-chan in Gurren Lagann(you ever see a man Super Shotgun a Ganmen apart? It's some real shit) but now he's hit a VERY interesting part of his personal arc

See, Borderlands opened him up to realizing that defending the innocent, not merely destroying evil, was more rewarding to him. They Live(Fuck the blue meanies), 1984(Hope Rides Alone), and as of lately Metro 2033(The Iron Horseman scenario) are cementing his status as the strong defender of those wishing to live a peaceful life
It's really neat.

Jumper, the Truth is Out There [+000 or +300]: This is insane how can Vampires, Hunters, Immortals, Mummies, Changelings, Werewolves, and various other things exist and no one notice!? This connects all of your previous Jumps in the World of Darkness to this ones Canon. Everyone seems to have a convenient excuse as to how this happened with minimal fuss unless you take the [+400] version of this Drawback in which case everyone, though this doesn't effect mere mortals, are very suddenly without convenient perception filters that have kept the various factions mostly separate.

False Chain [+600]: Your memories are patently false. You are simply a Mane, a being brought forth by potentia and Mania, the chain you remember is not but a lie and you are faced with your creator, a simple person who made you of whole cloth with intense focus and investment of untold amounts of Mania. You are the Jumper of the Chain, a Mane born of the Bardos that you remember venturing through, and you can’t seem to get anyone to think otherwise. As an additional slap on the wrist your ‘creator’ has ‘written you into a corner’ and all of your powers have returned to the Bardos of their origins, the chain you remember having only been a series of Bardos. If you want the powers back you simply will have to go through the Bardos in question and retrieve them from the local Manes, whilst protecting your erstwhile creator who now is basically your life support. What is reality and what is a product of Mania? How can you prove anything in this world that needs no proof?

So what do you guys think of my first Drawback Ideas?

Their is no perception filter keeping the WoD splats from noticing each other. Its canon that sometimes the Ordo Dracul fights Werewolves to try to take their loci. It's just that they're all to busy with their own lives to waste time seeking out other dangerous and powerful supernatural creatures for no reason.

And just making the splats notice each other isn't inconvenient enough for you to be worth +300/+400 points. It should be more like +200 and make all the local supernaturals interested in you specifically.
>>
>>51090499

Continuity is fun.

Voyager Witches in Umineko are witches that can freely travel through different multiverses/fragments, not being bound to a single multiverse like Witches on Beatrice-tier.

The end of the journey that every single one of them want to avoid is to ascend into the creator, removing all bounds, including the concept of 'self'.

Although there was a Witch who managed to 'not-fully-ascend', leaving her with Creator-like powers and a sense of self as she didn't trascended the last boundary. I figured that would be a much more reasonable goal for a 'sane' if such concept can even be applied here jumper than becoming a pan-dimensional entity.

Also, you have been through a lot. 600 cp drawbacks can certainly be scary.

It's never actually happened.
There was a joke, awhile back, where I'd go full yandere on companions attempting to leave and I probably could, but...
What ACTUALLY happens is, there's a running rule that anyone is allowed to leave as long as we get a chance to cool off and talk about it first, and not, like... y'know, do something out of a fit of pique or something. And if they decide they still want to leave, then, I would wish them well and send them on their way.
And so, yet, while we've all had our arguments and names calling and occasional attempts to rip someone's throat out, in the end, everyone has always forgiven each other and elected to stay together. Albeit sometimes with minor concessions.

Buds 4-Eva [8-Bit Theater]
I'm Hurt, Deeply Hurt [Ben 10]

Let's be real here. Everyone that's on this journey has their own reasons to join. Some were lost on their original world without a meaning for their existence. Others wanted to see what lies beyond their horizon. A few wanted power and others wanted a challenge.

I have supplied everyone (or will do in the near future) with the things that they asked.

It's only fair that they work for me for a few millions years. I'm not even asking that much.
>>
>>51090681
I hear that! Now onwards!

Origins:

Drop-In [Free]: You came here from outside, and something outside has taken a liking to the light your mind casts in this world of darkness, Genius.

Lemurian [200]: The principle behind Lemuria is that one's worldview as a genius is correct and that anyone who opposes it opposes you. To connect the many different contradictory philosophies of individual Lemurians, Lemuria postulates an "Archweltanschaaung," a Unified Theory of Genius in which every Lemurian's worldview is simultaneously valid. By following this principle to it's end-point one becomes Unmada, a being that imposes their worldview of reality ON reality and can no longer tell the difference between what is real and what is a product of many.

A 'Real' Scientist [Free]: A Community is a term for 'real' scientists and their ilk and you have made it your goal to take the products of Mania and slowly reverse engineer their results until you come out with something akin to real science. Those touched by mania are said to never be able to use 'real' science ever again, however you are the maverick that will prove them all wrong.

Renaissance Man [Free]: As a Genius you can only find solace in your peers or risk Havoc on those who would try to aid or resent you. In order to feel accepted many Genii group together and have founded together groups of like-minded individuals. You've got an 'in' with these foundations and this has given you some abilities and skills that you'd otherwise not have developed.

How do these look to you guys?

Right now my main house rule is that I am using the original unnerfed Crimson Saint perk from Maoyuu Hero And Demon King so I can translate my tech and spells back and forth.

>themes

Well I keep to my theme of making a mega-corp for a lot of jumps. although I may also play roles in certain jumps instead or on the side. Hell sometimes I play a spirit of the earth and literally make my own counter movement to my own company. Just to keep both sides from actually killing anybody and raise my philosophical opponents quality of life.

House rules I don't normally use much, but I'm always in favor of adding twists to a jump or chain if it makes things interesting. The motorcycle race with an ex-Jumper in my original chain is still something that I want to top. I also roll for perks if the odds of success are phenomenally low or out of character, especially if it would anticlimactically fix everything.

Themes? I experiment a lot, but my most common themes tend to be "superhero" or martial arts. The universal one is "the butterfly effect is a bitch."

The only extra rules I use consistently are:
+ Every fifth Jump is a Punishment Jump, chosen by the Coordinator, not the Jumper. Just how punishing of a Jump it is depends on how "entertained" the Coordinator has been kept.
+ The Story Comes First

Other than that I try to keep the experience pretty stock.

>>51089740
Wakana and Yamato paired up pretty early and showed little interest in joining in the harem antics, but they didn't openly disapprove or snark at me. They are were the only Companions who really saw me in full Harem mode. The others were all either in or occasional participants.

What? All my stories can't be wildly entertaining.

>>51090246
My Companions are always allowed to leave. I ask that they talk to me about it first, but I'll accept that decision if any of them choose to make it. Don't look at me like that, it's true.Undertale doesn't count. I did what I had to do.
>>
>>51088987

If things get too easy or boring I have a backup villain to throw in just in case, named Gabriel.

I didn't really have a "theme", initally, I just grabbed stuff I liked with a Mothy body mod. (I use the Avatar from TOME as my "default" form so I don't scare people, even if I have "Be Not Afraid" from Actraiser. I like the idea of having a secret moth form) Over time, I started to become some kind of magitech terraforming charisma jumper with a harem.

I then took a singer focused build because I really like the idea of a multiversal traveller causing inappropriately comedic and cheery musical numbers to kick the bad guy's butts.

I'm also a fan of that corny and sappy shit. I'm going to go to the Disney Princess jump soon but all the origins are so good and I can't pick one. I intend to accomplish things with the POWER OF SONG

Next jump is going to kick off an arc I call the "Love And Peace" arc. My jumper has had issues with violence and struggling to control their rage, and during and after this arc we're going to have a very strict "absolutely no killing" rule.

Tersca, the Romantic Key, Defining Soul of the Partitioning Rift

Motivation: Unlock the love in villains' hearts. Tersca has intimacies to such things as locks, swords, martial arts, and orphans.

Tersca is a golden skinned troll of great beauty, though she prefers to dress in dusty brown robes and wide brimmed hats or deep hoods, to better move about unnoticed.

Tersca is well traveled in the spirit world and beyond. She moves from town to town, bar to bar, rarely stopping in any place for more than a week. Humble by nature, she disguises herself as a mortal drifter, giving fake names and making few connections with the locals. Tersca will seek out work as a mercenary or bodyguard, the better to find violence. In a fight, Tersca always attempts to end things with a single blow, unsheathing her katana and striking the opponent's heart in one swift motion. Through the means of her custom martial art, Gentle Locksmith Style, her blade opens their heart to love the ones they meant to harm.

The Romantic Key is concerned that her work will go undone once she leaves a world, and so she always adopts an orphan as her apprentice. Tersca is a quiet and distant mother, though she genuinely loves each of her wards, and she mercilessly demands perfection when instructing them in the martial arts. This child accompanies her on her adventures through the spirit world and their home dimension, slowly learning Tersca's philosophy. When they are ready, she will endow them as her demon-blooded child and bestow her ultimate blessing: she can teach them her own Gentle Locksmith Style, though it is a Celestial Martial Art normally out of their reach.

Oh it's been fun just these past few hours.
A Correlation of Constants Between Physical Reality and Wondrous Artifice Creation [600]: The work of a lifetime transcribed into your mind. The simplistic wish to have something real and valid in one's own hands materialized into a theory, no a Law, which by all rights should not exist as it does. All forms of Mania comes from the unknowable power of Inspiration but if looked at from another angle one can not help but to find themselves gazing backwards, after all even myths and legends usually have a grain of truth to them. Using a method of your own devising you have figured out how to break something down until you find the core idea that made it real in the first place, granting you an astounding ability to understand the working of something through proper physics. You can take any Non-Repeatable Phenomenon and translate it into a Repeatable Phenomena at the cost of exorbitant power and size upgrades. You have also reversed one of the eldest uses of Mania, the ability to power even mundane things as if with electricity, so that you can power your inventions on electricity instead of Mania.

Next up is Konata. But I've gotta separate them.
>>
>>51092063
Can there be a perk that lets you determine the aesthetic of your inventions? Another perk that lets become better at meshing together different technologies?

I AM RIGHT! You however are not necessarily, wrong. [600]: The ideal of a Lemurian is akin to a force of nature itself. In your 'area' of influence the world bends slightly to allow your worldview and it to coexist. These results are astounding even at low levels, evidence against his world-view seems to disappear. As Inspiration grows, small objects appear that satisfy the philosophical or aesthetic sense: one might find that cars with fins tend to drive by if they like that, while the traditional folk find frivolous technology outmoded around them, replaced by simple, well-made machinery.
At the highest levels of Inspiration one basically sovereign inside a bubble the size of a small city that adheres to his personal philosophy, immune to contradictory evidence born within the field, which vanishes, and surrounded by eager, fawning servants, happy to feed their creators delusions back to him. Manes that match the genius' ideas appear constantly, slowly reshaping the environment until it resembles the Lemurian's ideal. This power can be disrupted by outside influence, such as a meddling Genius walking into your bubble of reality and pointing things out that don't make sense though they'll have to fight off the effects of your worldview to do so, but the average mere mortal could be turned Beholden to your ideal in a few days or weeks at the highest end of this power. All of the functions of this power are ruled by your mind, so if you don't have to effect what you don't want to.

>>51092124
Oh here you go Moth-person:

Aesthetic Values [Free]: A feature of every Genius is the fact that they build within a 'theme' that feels comfortable. With this you chose a theme (Examples Steampunk, Desielpunk, Post-Modern, etc) and you can build in that theme, even things that are of modern manufacturer can be converted over to fully functional replicas!

No, a perk is never "too much", at least not inherently. It depends on the setting.

This build is a good solid base to build from.

Warehouse
Utilities: Electricity, Plumbing, Heat/AC, Force Wall
Structures: Shelving, Terminal, Housing
Miscellaneous: 2 Stasis Pod, Free Space

Also took Lavos beckons. Forgot to include that.

Gameplan:
Find main characters. Read their minds, divine their futures. Travel to the point in time where i know Lavos will be killable/accessible.(Or take the day of Lavos, but i'd save the dev's key for post spark) Teleport inside shell, biomance and slice arms away. Gut the body. Collect any blood for dark binding/Genetic analysis. Easily achievable. Load magic and physical nukes into chamber containing pods, 4 under each pod. (2 of each) Hide in warehouse behind shield, detonate. Watch the magic happen. Chamber collapses, we're stuck. Kill my companions, Teleport to the surface, eliminating possibility of collapse in warehouse. Wait for Companions to rez while sipping tea and eating jerky.

Kill bandits. Try not to have any of my shit stolen. Proceed to not mess with Fate or whatever. Waifu the cavewoman. Lay on a rock in the sun. (i AM cold blooded, after all.) Participate in wars, revolutions, all that. See how that 'can't change anything' drawback works. Try to keep Reptites alive and at least semi-relevant.

Even a little strength and speed is enough to get you started, but those without beauty or good senses are probably shit out of luck in a lot of worlds. This build is a good solid base to build from.
That depends a lot on what jumps you take first/early. The usual Pokemon already gives you perfect fitness and freerunning skills, so getting them from Body Mod doesn't do shit for you.
But beauty perks aren't exactly rare either. Senses are a little less common, but unless you're blind as a bat i don't see the need.

What it comes down to is that you're only really using your Body Mod body when you're doing gauntlets and no-power drawbacks.
In which case being able to run fast and for a long time will probably save your ass more reliably than looking pretty.
So my picks generally go to endurance, speed and dexterity with Metavore.
Also Athlete build because flexibility will likely help you more than F-Cup tits or a foot-long cock, but YMMV.
>>
>>51092567
It... really depends on your background?
Long story short, it just has to basically be, "If this gets out, people will want me dead and will be willing to take the losses."

If you're a Dryad, for example, it might be that before the Jump began proper, you used to run around doing suicide in the middle of villages, thus causing the nature goddess to wreck them, so if anyone finds out, they'll want to get rid of you without letting the nature goddess run out. Maybe a dragon enjoys burning down cities without any real reason. Maybe you assassinated various members of nobility in brutal ways and destabilized the government for shits and giggles. Maybe you enjoyed opening up Hellgates or summoning Succubi and Incubi and letting them run wild. So on and so forth. It just has to be something along the lines of they think that you're bad enough that leaving you alone will cost them more than however many resources they throw into catching you.

sweet jimminy fuckmas HOW?!

To quote the book:
>"The Illuminated are not fooled by Mania: they are Mania. The Illuminated have been consumed by their own Inspiration. That alien light burns away their personalities, leaving nothing but a swirling vortex of Mania and
alien logic. It's estimated that about 20% of all fall to Illumination eventually: 10% more or less immediately and 10% over the course of their lives. Most of the latter are Lemurians, but no one is entirely safe. An Illuminated becomes "genius," rather than remaining an individual genius. As a mad scientist succumbs to Illumination, raw Inspiration swallows up the genius' personality. He becomes something amazing and terrible, entirely devoid of human feelings or thoughts, a mere conduit for the deranged energy of genius as it floods into the world. The Illuminated are dangerous and magnificent, transcendental mathematical intellects wrapped in the guise of mortal flesh, their actions unpredictable and dangerous. Whatever motivates the Illuminated, they are often as beautiful as they are cruel, capable of composing grand and monstrous projects, as Maniacal light from another world spills from their eyes"
^This^ is a form of death. Just with really fancy results.

>>51092724
Not can Moth-Shaped-Person, will. The various factions of Genius don't like high Inspiration Lemurian because of the Invisable Wars. To the Genii of this world Lemurians are dying bit of cancer that is mostly exsized at this point. A rapid growth of one into something that threatens a city will be fought just like a city threatening Genius would be fought, for around the same reasons.

>>51092777
Lemurian are in general minor reality warpers who top out at city level themeing and are usuall decent-to-Damn-Good Genii in addition. They are a threat that you deal with in Genius the Transgression.

Keheheheheheh!

>>51092471
Actually, that's just an Unmada field. Technically, any Genius can do it.
Technically.

The thing is, when a Genius starts going crazy, they become "Unmada" (which is the fancy Genius word for crazy), and start projecting a bubble of Unmada around them. It's unconscious, they can't control it. Things just sortof line up for them, aesthetics change to suit their preferences, etc. And this is bad, because, as scientists, this makes it difficult to do anything objectively, because reality is shifting things just a little bit so that everything is agreeable to them, but only in this small bubble. The rest of the world still runs off normal science and says to fuck with your dumbass theories. Which kindof makes it hard to do science.
So the perk in this instance does that, but from the looks of it you get to choose if it effects something or not, so you CAN still do normal science. Which sortof gets rid of the downsides.
The field itself isn't very powerful, and is mostly just an aesthetics thing, although it does also have a tendency to cause "accidents" to happen to conflicting theories or "proof" within your bubble.
>>
>>51092342
hey, if you take this and you already have multiple bodies does it project in a radius divided by your number of bodies or Does every one of your Bodies emit the max radius?

In most gauntlets and no power modes I tend to rely a lot on the natives, actually. I've never been too much of a fan of assuming I'm the only person that's ever going to be useful, or that people will be inherently hostile to me without good reason. That said, there was some debate over going with a more run-away focused build, but I used that in my first two chains before I began posting builds publicly. This chain I'm going to be a spiritual powers/social cross class. Or cult leader, I guess.

>>51092786
I did my fursona last chain. The first few builds were spent mostly gaining illusions and perks that make people not care about certain things so I wasn't brutally murdered as a godless monster. It was a rat.

>>51092777
Weird fact: Lemuria was the idea that a land-bridge once existed between Madagascar and Africa for lemurs to travel across, explaining why both had lemurs. This landbridge was believed to have eventually sank beneath the sea, and then artists began depicting it as an off-brand Atlantis.

This was before we moved onto tectonic shift theory and realized that the lemurs just drifted away on the island.

Extra Rules
>¤ Companions must be imported or podded. If a jump is entered without importing a companion who isn't otherwise stored, they will be lost forever.
>¤ Companions die when they are killed.
>¤ The Drop-In origin is mandatory for the jumper and all companions.
>¤ Companions pick what their alloted CP is spent on, if imported.
>¤ Starting location is always rolled for. You can spend 50CP to argue with Jumpchan and re-roll. Tough luck if it turns out the same.
>¤ Once a jumper has visited a jump of a given tier, they no longer recieve the customary 1000CP when beginning any lower tier jump. Discounts still provide CP when taken, however.
>¤ Up to 1000 unspent CP may be reserved.
>¤ There is no free CP for Body Mod or Warehouse; instead, you must spend reserved CP, with limits of 500CP for the body mod, 1000CP for the warehouse (multiply all CP costs by 5). Fuck your other supplements.
>¤ Jump settings will not perfectly match the source material, and are subject to realistic forces. The resemblence will be there, but things will be different.
>¤ You must write at least five paragraphs about a jump, before you take another. You must write ten in order to choose the next jump.

I'm about to start my fourth jump. The writing rule is a real bitch.
>>

Doesn't really matter much though given how easy it is to get a furry alt form. Although how it's supposed to interact with backgrounds has always been confusing to me.

Don't make rulings into perks. I can use toggle to turn this off and allow myself to become a god. Also, don't force total brain or body destruction to be a failure condition for people who can normally survive that and don't force people to stay in this world just for not following evacuation procedures.

>Origins get their 100cp free
Origins have two 100cp perks free. Do I get both free or just one?

The Cook has two 300CP perks instead of 400. I assume that's a type.

>Puritan
>However there is a caveat, if someone is able to bring you back with standard medical first aid, or pour your dying body into a ‘borg you shall escape failure for but several moments longer
So if someone makes me into a cyborg... I get to stay in the jump a few more minutes before failing my chain? Can my companions time this so that I'm back alive one minute before the decade is up?

I hate that there's no rhyme or reason to how the Item section is ordered. Organize them by price or background or alphabetically ANYTHING.

Could use some lower price drawbacks. There's a bunch of +400 or higher but only one +100. A lot of the drawbacks are way WAY overpriced too. +900 to get two cults and some wizards to target you? +300 is usually for things that seal away all your powers and +600 usually involves direct fights against cosmic beings or an apocalypse.

And is there anything stopping me from just leaving the station and going to the clown planet if I want?

Solars don't really go for giant robots. Warstriders were something they built to fill out their armies, if any built personally for them were more curiosities than meant for dedicated use. Besides, who wants to waste all that orichalcum on just a mecha? On a more meta note, I suspect the main reason for the lack of super robots is actually just so that Colossus and Municipal stage Alchemicals won't be overshadowed. That's kind of spoiled by the fact that there aren't any mechanics supporting them. Then again, there are very few mechanics for the Daystar, so I guess that's only fair,

My jumper is not aware of the Jumpchain meta, and makes all jump choices subconsciously.

The primary reason for this is that it prevents me from going 2000% paranoid over the thought of an infinite omniverse and ruthlessly minmaxing (to T.O. levels) every jump, which would result in a character who is incredibly boring to write. Time travel is a dumpster fire. I get only those abilities that are philosophically and aesthetically in line with my preferences, and if I'm going to succeed I'll need to use those bootstrap myself up. It also ensures I won't ever visit settings I can't muster any good will towards. If the only thing I can stand thinking about in regards to a given property is a generic curbstomp, my daydreaming time would be better spent elsewhere.

There's some minor self-discovery and existential themes that also arise as a result, since I only know about the abilities I've gained in a jump if I take a memory-granting origin (unexplained items are likewise deposited randomly and without fanfare in the Warehouse) and I have no inkling of how I'm going from place to place, but they're secondary. Building up in narrative and mechanics is more interesting to me than doing so with fiat, so taking the minimum keeps me more invested in the long run.

>Was the Great Curse a carefully-crafted, secretly in the depths of hell project, or was it more of a spur-of-the-moment sort of final-fuck you from the Yozi?
It was the dying curses of the Primordials that died. So neither, because the Yozi and hell have nothing to do with it.

Anyway, so, not really carefully-crafted, but ludicrously powerfull and enhanced by their deaths.

>As a Devil Tiger, would it be possible to make something similar for your Sidereal/Solar/whatever Exaltation to get off the limit track, but not cause insanity/your plans to fail/etc.?
Not unless you're willing to permanently die and become a Neverborn to empower the curse.

How would that even get you off the Limit track? That's a part of the Exaltation itself, and only used by the Great Curse.

In procrastination I want to make a new Jump. It's a game /like/ Minecraft but with eleectrics and no minecarts/multiplayer. (Yes companions can be brouight into the game.) So a 'tight programming ability' and 'impossibly tight programming' ability, and some electrical paerks, with a perk for lighting.

Also furniture you can take 'examples' of with you. (Also you'll be able to take a inventory of items with you and up to one hundred chests. [They can only carry 16 stacks of limited numbers of items.)

Does this even sound like something you people might want?
>>
>>51094221
The Neverborn made the Great Curse, not the Yozi. And while they were once the same species, they've both changed greatly. The Yozi can't remove their Neverborn cousins' work, just alter it to have different triggers and punishments. That said, it doesn't matter. Post-jump your Limit track only applies to using charms that have a cost of inflicting Limit in exchange for extra power. You won't accumulate it otherwise. And since you still have the normal means for reducing Limit, you'll never Limit Break unless you're a really short-sighted idiot.

Some examples include:Friar Carl acting jealous/envious of me while asking me to "teach him my ways". Sans constantly making jokes about it, usually puns. Momonga getting mopey because he has no bone. And Mordred just being exasperated at some of my antics, despite being my daughteru.

Wat? My companions are allowed to leave if they want

VERY tough choice.
You've got Iskander, Mordred, Medusa, Archer is pretty great, as is Lancelot, Siegfried is cool, I kinda like Jackie-chan, Vlad is fucking awesome, I just have a really hard time choosing a Favorite Servant.

I refuse to choose FGO servants because I don't play the game and don't know their personalities.

Basically when the Neverborn, not the Yozi, died they sent a massive and powerful "fuck you" curse at the Incarna, Sol Invictus, Luna, and the Sisters of Fate.
The Incarna deflected this curse and thought nothing of it. What they didn't realize was that once deflected it sought the "next best" target, the Exaltations that hold almost identical Essence to the Incarna themselves.

I've known that since before I started jumping

>and shouldn't impose that insanity on the world around you.

Counterwise ,why should anyone's viewpoint be rendered invalid simply because their personal reality is not the most common Denominator?

>Consequently also the part that stops the crazy from eating your brain until all other people are parts in your machine and you exist solely to build and maintain that grand machine

this is where it stops being fun, this kind of thing is generally what makes my Jumper punch you into a sword and then feed you to his sword.

>>based on ideas that cease to function outside of a certain radius around you because that's not how things really work.

But it's only fair to Offer alternatives right?

>Or basically, you've pretty much been playing an extremely radical Lemurian this whole time and I'm happy you're going to be making new friends. What Baramin are you going to choose?

most likely yes building giant robots is pretty much what They are for,of course you're going to need the plans.

Also any good ways to give a ship with an AI the capacity to upgrade itself ad infinitum?

Start with science of Evolution from EVO: the search for Eden, get some machines that can assimilate other machines, like the fusion Boomer in bubblegum crisis throw that in with the reverse engineering shard from worm. And I think you're going to be at least halfway there.

>>
>>51094821
Because Second Age Solars are weak as shit compared to their First Age counterparts, who were mostly Essence 6 or higher. They don't have the support, the money, the armies, etc of their previous incarnations.
A Royal Warstrider would be a MAJOR help in their current situation.
>>
>>51094821
Well, sure, modern Twilights heard how awesome the things were. I'm not saying that royal warstriders weren't really powerful. The vanity of a Twilight craftsman demands that they be the best thing they can be. I'm just saying that they don't seem to have been used much. Most of the examples we have of First Age Solars in combat depict them as being on-foot supermen, not someone making use of a vehicle. Probably, again, that vanity. Giant robots are cool enough that they risk overshadowing the pilot's abilities. Fighting on your own lets you show off while keeping it looking like you're the awesome guy.

Now for 'Items'

Drop-In
Something… Primordial [600]: The first of all truths that was broken and forsaken long ago has persisted in it’s own limping manner. The First Bardo, created with advent of Fire and planning. You are an Outsider just like it always was and now you have come to find yourself the proud friend of a living Bardo that has existed since days primordial, after all the first thing humanity proved was that the world of shadows outside of their caves weren’t filled with monsters. A massive shadow of a predator that you can call up with a store of Manes whom can feed off fear as if it were raw Mania. Think of a shadow-wolf the size of a truck who moves fast enough to keep up with modern vehicles, and that's just the most basic Mane, inside is something akin to the worlds most terrifying jungle crossed with a series of cities, three in all, that are claustrophobic in nature. You can create entrances to this place or summon Manes from it by doing classical cave markings on any stone surface with this simplistic coal stick.

Renaissance Man
Adoption Papers [600]: This is something that can't be, yet is. Brought to you by a friend to your 'in' at 'some cost' clearing up 'some debt'. A blueprint of a work you've never put together but still it is in your style with no error. A reposed wonder three-hundred years from completion written out in gross detail through an accompanying journal allows you to fit all the pieces together, all you'll need to do is put it together. The finished product is a simple microchip that houses an AI. The true glory of this invention is the fact that the Ai itself is Inspired and because of programming always has a decent obligation to humanity. By inserting this technology into any willing mere mortal they will act as if they themselves had been Inspired, though not with the potential for growth that you have, never causing Havoc and even able to create wonders.

What do you think?

I don't particularly care for "remaining human," but I do find some humane ideas and traits compelling. I look at modifications as more like patching holes than giving something up.

I get a real kick out of body horror and duality, so my build has put me in the uncanny valley. Not /bad/ looking, but a lurking unease that can't be described. Once you dip under the skin, I'm predominantly made of alien super-life.

Pretty much every bit of me is capable of thought or calculation at one level or another, and while it all takes my human-brain thoughts, drives and opinions into consideration, they don't strictly /need/ to, and will present counter-arguments if they think such is in error. And vice versa. Thus, the excesses of my components are worn against each other until everything coalesces into a smooth and polished whole. In other words, I do directly what other jumpers stick to using perks for so they can lie to themselves about still being strictly human.
Physical capabilities cover for each other in a similar manner, though that's generally less exciting.

Can someone explain to me how modifications function in terms of alt forms?

I've been lurking the thread for some time, but I still don't get how they work when you change to other forms. Do they just stay in the one form you implement them in and just kind of go away while in different forms? Or do they just kind of stick around being useless?

I'm mainly talking about mechanical and genetic modifications that don't involve CP.

It seems to me that jumpers always hit a wall were they can't make any meaningful improvements without taking matters into their own hands. But at the same time, I don't want to transform into a shoggoth and just have a random robot arm sticking out, or worse shred up my organs when I shift to a slightly different biology.
>>
>>51095765
Just headcanon it away. It's what I do.
>>
>>51095765
This isn't anything official, but I just assume that any modifications made to my /base-form/ are mirrored with the alt-forms nearest equivalent (for biological alterations) and made to fit the other body (for cybernetics).
>>
>>51095622
>You would be surprised what counts as an invention in Genius, there's a group that're dedicated to pushing the limits of Wonders.
Evidently. Might need to look into that.

>A Chip-AI that can be place, inside the subject (Wherever is fine, dermal minimum though)
Huh, okay. So does the AI make sure the things they build work, or is it just having the chip implanted that does it?

Hm. Must resist urge to steal an Ultron body for the microchip's AI to use. That'll probably go bad. On the other hand, maybe I should do that. For Science.

...Speaking of. It takes 300 years to build it? That doesn't account for crafting speed enhancing stuff, right?

>Makes sense. At least supernatural creatures don't trigger that, which will be great in fantasy jumps.
Yep and I'm still tempted to put in an Son of an Ashtray Drawback/Undiscounted Perk.
>>
>>51095765
It's mostly up to your fanwank.
Usually I treat non-cp changes to altforms to be a part of those altforms, but changes to my "normal" body to be reflected in other forms.

This is why altform-combination perks like Final Form from SAO are so useful - so if I have a robot arm on X form, I can use it to have a robot arm on Y form.
But it's your chain, you decide how it works.
>>
>>51095765
Personally, I assume non-CP modifications are alt-form specific.

Like, my human altform getting a robot arm doesn't also give my pokemon altform a weirdly proportioned robot arm.

In practice, it's more akin to the interaction between brain sectors/hemispheres than an outright hivemind. The first couple decades were a little rough, but it's pretty comfortable once you get used to it.

Then again, I noticed a long time ago that I'm significantly more emotional in dreams than when awake, which leads me to suspect there's some sort of inhibition going on between sections, depending on which parts are active at a given time. The idea of not being a monolithic whole is old hat to me even before in-chain additions were made, whereas others may have more centralized self-concepts. I... forget that, some times. It's an infuriatingly human failing.

>>51095765
I don't really use alt-forms, and I don't think there is an official ruling, but it would make sense that modifications made to one form stay in it (like how losing an arm in an alt-form shouldn't put you down one in every form). Helps keep clutter down and if you're the one performing the modification anyway you can just repeat the procedure as desired.
>>
>>51095765
I treat altforms as a form of shapeshifting, so any changes are reflected in all altforms unless I don't want them to be, in which case they are changed with shapeshifting.
>>
>>51095848

Here let me just use a quote here to try to avoid confusion:

>+300 Years: The Martian Colonization. The Martian Empire, after gaining enough Mania to make itself fully real, reveals itself and quickly dominates Earth's cultural landscape with its sophisticated and newly-dynamic culture. Together, Earth and Mars colonize the solar system, with the Martian Overlords forging ahead to "standardize" the other Bardos, rendering them down for Mania before they are annihilated by the Havoc of encountering mere mortals. A Golden Age of commerce and philosophy begins in the solar system.
An Example of the weird stuff that can happen with enough Mania.

>A few hundred years from now, technology is extraordinary and commonplace. The average person owns (though does not necessarily carry) the equivalent of one Axiom rank worth of orphans for every dot of Intelligence + Resources they possess. Many people, especially scientists, police officers, and spies have the equivalent of Inspiration 1 /due to internal AI systems/. By this time, the difference between geniuses and regular people breaks down a bit: mere mortals do not trigger Havoc merely by using or holding wonders
This is what you have Blueprints of. An Internal AI System that is only supposed to be in existence +300 years from now. It doesn't take three hundred years to make it's three hundred years ahead of it's time.

Five-Metal Shrike. Fortress-Titans.

Both of which have transformation modes.

So, is Genius /all/ mad scientists? It's always been my least favorite archetype. Even non-scientists are better.
>>
>>51096092
It is all mad science, to the extent where real science isn't used. Seriously one of the factions is trying to stress test their powers by seeing how much nonsense theories they can shove in their creations and still have them work.

They are all some degree of nuts.
>>
>>51096092
A variety of mad scientists, including mad archaeologists, mad sociologists, mad philosophers, and mad engineers.
>>
>>51096028
Ah, alright then. Thanks.
>>
>>51096092
One of the central conflicts of Genius is that once you become Inspired, actual science is almost impossible for you to participate in (because reality is biased toward you being right in close proximity), isolating you from those who would be your peers. It looks like one origin in the jump will be dedicated to trying to fight that, though.
>>
>>51096092
Genius is the story of latent reality warpers trying to seem scientific. As >>51096144 says they are varied in fields and as >>51096134 it takes a particular mind to use Mania. Also see >>51096157

>>51096151
No problem.

>>51096157
Ah A 'Real' Scientist is a joy to write. Hope is such a defining thing for them. *Wink*

That's the Order of Hermes, right?

I'm looking forward to it. "I'm accidentally doing cool things and my explanations seem right but aren't and it's driving me crazy" was always more interesting to me than "LOL there is no right answer, it's magic." If I wanted the latter, I'd play Mage.

So after looking at your criticism I've nerfed every single capstone and changed the companion imports.

>>51096209
I believe so.

>>51096209
The Hermetic Order of the 28 Spheres actually.

>>51096245
Yep it makes for a great thing in my humble opinion.
>>
>>51095595
not Clark tech, Cape tech. big difference.

>>51095608
I thought she was one of the more powerful people in DC right now? Like right up there with Dr. fate.

>>51095683
Superhuman precision? I don't remember saying no to that,it seems pretty reasonable. please elaborate . If you wanted A more limited form of interdimensional portals like the Dot or limbo for more frame that's workable, It's the unlimited portals to any dimension you can think of I was saying no to.

>>51095765
you take this is in fact my final form and then you mix-and-match.
>>51096314

so would "shonen narrative causality" work for I AM RIGHT! You however are not necessarily, wrong or does it specifically have to be a science thing?.
>>
>>51096299
So, huh, all companions are automatically imported and get free CP? Or just the regular 8?
>>
>>51096393
How long did it take the best magic-users to reach those levels?
>>
>>51096399
Whoops, it's just the regular 8.
>>
>>51096393
>"shonen narrative causality"
No I do not believe it would work. Shonen by itself might be a better theme, but again please remember it isn't really a directed effect, just something that kinda happens.
>>
>>51096299
I'm not really seeing a difference in these capstones.
>>51096422
yeah, I suppose I could roll it back from the thousand years to just one lifetime. Seeing as that's the most obvious Canon example.... but I Know that I have a tendency to offer too much power and I'm trying to control that by going in the other direction.I am not a man who usually finds the middle and for this I apologize.

>I thought she was one of the more powerful people in DC right now?
Sort of but not in terms of actual power.

Her power largely comes from the versatile free form nature of her magic, which we explicitly won't have. She /might/ be able to compare to the upper DC magic characters based on how many things she can do but without that advantage she would be far beneath them.

>Like right up there with Dr. fate.
Haha no.

The fact that you start with half the strength of Constantine puts you way beneath the tech perk. Without his con artist skills and plot armor he would be considered trash tier.

would just "narrative causality" work, i.e. The area operating off of storybook logic. I can't think of a better gift to give my citizens in a world that makes sense.

okay I misunderstood that, thank you for explaining it. i guess Dr. fate power levels then.
I'm trying to say it caps around the cap for Cape comics.

>> The fact that you start with half the strength of Constantine puts you way beneath the tech perk. Without his con artist skills and plot armor he would be considered trash tier.

Well yeah, you start out at trash tier, you're a kid operating off of a power system that Ranks up with study and discipline, this is not unreasonable
>>
>>51096393
>I thought she was one of the more powerful people in DC right now? Like right up there with Dr. fate.
She can apply her magic in any way she wants, that is what makes her powerful. Without that versatility she wouldn't be so impressive.

Also comparing her to Dr. Fate either undersells him or over sells her by a very large margin.

Jumpers, have you ever had a day where things just weren't going your way? Aside from drawbacks, I mean.

So is SCIENCE yet you start out at a decently high level with that, with magic you'll have graduated and/or left the setting before you can do anything helpful.
