Personally I think the stone face bases are a big hassle, I use them for playable survivors and it's a real pain to get the models to stick to such an uneven surface.

I got into this way late and I'm sitting at the gold lantern nothing else. after a bit of thinking I'd love to get a little extra but I'm a bit lost what exactly to get.

The whole old expansions with the ancient gold lantern tier seems a bit excessive and maybe not even that great. If I'm just gonna add for individual packs I wouldn't know what to prioritize from both the old and the new stuff.

I'd appreciate some advice on what to get to expand the basic game in a more natural manner (not all lategame stuff and what not)

Really, it's up to you desu. There's of course a LOT of things you can add, but most people's recommendation is that you add either 1) new LY 1 monsters to break up the white lion monotony, and/or 2) expansions that come with a campaign. With those in mind, you should look at:

1) Gorm, Honeycomb Weaver, Frogdog

2) Gryphon, Dragon King, Sunstalker, Inverted Mountain**, Abyssal woods**

After that it's really what you think looks cool or fun to add.

Lion God+Silver City: Alone, Lion God is trash tier and Silver City is worth it. Together they're an alternate campaign
Red Witches+Pariah: Alone, they're each nemesis monsters which makes their Power dubious but likely not trash based on how the Nemesis addons in KS1 went. Together, they enable a short campaign where you play as the Witches hunting down the Pariah
Spidicules+Flower Knight+Abyssal Woods: Enables what might be the most ambitious Alternate Campaign, AND the spider is mediocre at worst and FK pretty decent on their own, while Abyssal Woods on its own is still fuck-off huge with multiple monsters across several nodes. Apparently, AW Combo can get even better with Weaver (Node 1) and DBK ("Poots loves me" tier, so pretty good on its own)
Inverted Mountain: Pro is that it's a total replacement campaign. Con is that it needs basically everything. Go AW First.

$300 is a very good budget for just about any good airbrush. I use a cheap Master G23 as a workhorse: primer, basecoat, terrain, etc etc. For more precise work, I've heard great things about the Sotar 20/20. Unless you're quite experienced I wouldn't go too expensive and, honestly, I've doing well with cheap airbrushes from Master. Just take good care of it: making sure the paint is thinned down enough, cleaning, etc etc.

As for compressor, I highly recommend one with a tank, so your compressor isn't constantly pumping which makes a lot of noise and can overheat.

Because it doesn't even exist in the same place KDM takes place in. We don't have one single thing from the holy lands yet and I doubt we will because everything we've heard says a community of unaffiliated survivors couldn't exist there.

It doesn't even make sense as a huntable monster. From what we know it doesn't leave the holy lands, and it's not a leader or a wild beast. It's just a monster that brainwashes babies and turns them into servants of the holy lands. In order for a group of survivors to fight a Wet Nurse they'd have to journey hundreds of miles to reach the holy lands, fight armies of white knights, penetrate into their deepest strongholds (as I'm sure the golden entity doesn't just leave babies lying around in the open), and then decide they want to kill the Kingdom Death equivalent of a civil servant.

So how is everyone painting their miniatures?

I'm planning to paint them like the stone effect featured on the Kickstarter page.

For pinups, I will probably paint them more conventionally. Recently bought some 40k minis to practice painting skills.

I would love to paint all the models properly, but the stone effect is probably easier to achieve.

Also, can anyone recommend any casting techniques for the miniatures and bases?

I've been doing mine like they do in the painting monochrome kingdom death guide but as I get better I've been adding more color but not much.

Black Friday Gold Lantern, Dragon King, Dung Beetle Knight, Honeycomb Weaver, Lion Knight, Pariah, Red Witches, Nightmare Ram, Oblivion Mosquito.

How did I do? I'm a little bummed about not throwing in any pinups, but its a fair amount to be dropping all at once. Is there an expansion I'm missing that I definitely shouldn't?

I dont think its worth to buy anything now. They made enough money to produce this game in standard distributional ways which will most probably be cheaper than now over kickstarter.

Don't get it the wrong way, but I think that color scheme is a mistake.
The sculpt per se is already pretty simplistic and giving the watcher earthy everyday colours just makes him look like a pile of mundane clothe.

The rocks are also too bright, will look bad on the board.

Obviously I disagree, but thanks for the input. Even though it's earthy tones, rather than do what most I who use similar tones for the watcher and make them washed out and dull, I made mine pop and more vibrant. The rocks are brighter than they are because the lighting, and again the board is dark so even if they are bright it'll make the mini stand out against the board. Just my two cents, but thanks for yours as well.

Not him but I just don't think it pops very well, it's all very samey colour wise. You can still make it work though by really going ham on the lanterns and making them a colour that introduces some contrast or intrigue into the pieces composition.

In addition, the Weaver is also a node 3 monster which means it can be splashed into more campaigns. At the same time, Frog Dog seems to come with more gear content, as well as 3 different armour sets, and is also the beginning of a new campaign if you want to start building towards it. It's also more expensive at retail price than the Weaver or Gorm,. so you're techncially saving yourself more at this point.

At least the basic card is not.
And since it is "only" GC added, Cooking can not be removed from the Science (I think?) Tree of the base game.
