Well, nice, our Decurion was already a massive, boring, unwieldy piece of shitty cheese and now they've produced a worse version.
I hope the rest are actually useable, since Cawl apparently only has a 5++ save and no EW. I guess his FnP rerollable helps a bit, but against anything ID he's a 300pt Company Commander.

Would a Nurgle-only Daemonic Incursion work well?

I figure the Nurglings can infiltrate to tag as many objectives as possible early on and force my opponent to split up to go after them. Furies because I have to have the aux choice. They basically just tag objectives and distract. Then the big boys can go after the weakest links.

Everyone rolls on Biomancy probably. Maybe the princes on Plague since they can get Stream of Corruption and Plague Wind in range easily.

i have what may be a stupid question

so looking at the Traitor Legions book, looking at Death Guard, building a Vectorium.....

I must build 1 core and 1 aux, i am able to have up to 4 command, and any number of additional core or aux......okay check. I totally understand.

why is the command formation red? you get the command benefits for death guard just for running the vectorium, not running the command formation.....so if I have a sorcerer and i run him in the chaos warband he gets obsec....but if i run him as command he doesnt?

can someone help me out here I dont know if there is any special rules for the command formation or why it is red.

oh and does the spawn formation not have any formation benefit? I dont know where the datasheet for the formation is, like what book it is in. it is not in traitors hate or traitor legions books

The command choice is pretty much there so you can take some additional apostles/DPs/Lords/Sorcs. The spawn formation is literally just 1-3 units of spawn, with no additional benefits beyond it allowing you to add a single spawn to a core choice to get all the benefits of the full detatchment
>>
>>51060718
not all choices in a meta-detachment are formations. I believe it explicitly states "is made of of formations and unit choices presented..."

Basically, if its not in a formation, it only receives the detachments command benefit, not any formation special rules (obviously, because its not in a formation)

To be fair, I pay for War on Murder for captain valentine regardless of whether or not it's useful. I carved those numbers into his hull, so I'm taking the points for it no matter what.

This. If you want a handy dandy tool that is actually functional like an army builder, just pre-load all the data into excel. Even beginners can use simple Excel formulas like =sum or =1850 - A1:A20 to make your own army building program.

Then just jot down all the unit points and wargear points and you have your own army building program in Excel spreadsheet form that isn't FUCKING WRONG all the time.

And people who think that shitty picture builder that the newfags keep putting in the OP actually makes "better looking lists" are fucking retarded. That Astra Militarum list made my eyes fucking bleed. I wanted to help the guy set up his special weapons and HWT loadouts but as soon as I opened it and saw a bunch of little faggots displayed there I closed it immediately.

Literally didn't happen

A single inventor spent less than one million dollars developing a pen that would write in space after NASA decided they needed a writing device with a medium that was non-flammable in a 100% oxygen atmosphere (this was right after the apollo fire disaster). Lead used in pencils at the time was conductive and they didn't want pieces of it breaking off, drifting into ICs, and short circuiting stuff.

The guy who developed them had a contract with NASA and sold them for less than $3 a piece but people still smugly tell the "They used a pencil lol" story for some reason.

They have an order that allows them to fire and then run in the same turn. It's not that static with heavy weapons in a Guard army. Plus it's Guard, they are a more static army.

Not to mention, with how many Psykers he has, he can roll on the Biomancy table and use Endurance to make them Relentless.

>>51060667
It can be confusing, but with differing opinions like that I think it's best to play and see how it works out. Heavy weapons are good. If read above there are options to make them useful on the go.

Decurion didn't "catch on". It was literally the first and only one of its kind until more came out. When the second one rolled around, which was Space Marine I think, everyone just said "the Space Marine Decurion" and not Gladius or whatever it was. Then when the third one came out, guess what people remembered more. Was it Gladius? Was it whatever the new one was called? No. It was fucking DECURION.

>>51060952
Mathhammer-wise Cawl will take 30% of the AP2 wounds he is dealt, so a little bit better than a 3++ once you factor in his Feel No Pain.

Honestly, would it have killed them to give him Eternal Warrior? Any random Space Marine sarge can have it, loads of people have it as relics. I'd take a 40pt upgrade.

I buy everything from eBay usually since they almost always have at least 20% or more off MSRP. I don't really gear well with Wayland and Warstore with their shipping prices. Plus you can order bits and stuff, and then there's the rare time you get an actual auction and pay pennies.

when someone is collecting guard for 10+ years, it's really not inconceivable. you'll have 80+ infantry for your first few forces, and that can easily go up to 180-200 in 1850 and 2000. building apocalypse forces might bring it up to 400-500 infantry. fielding conscripts is normally 40-50 per unit, so that might be an extra 100-200 if you're not running many. and you might want to collect multiple different armies, so you might buy a 1500 point force of vostroyans or catachans in addition to whatever force you first made. collecting fluffy units like ogryns, wyrdvanes, scions, and ratlings that you won't normally field in games can bring it up another 30+ depending on how much you like a certain unit's fluff.

so even a 4,000 point army might field 450~ infantry. imagine collecting for years and buying every set of bits that comes along. you'll probably field 10,000 points after a decade or two of playing, which can easily break 1,000. imagine owning 40,000 like a lot of 40k addicts. that's probably nearly 5,000 units.

tl;dr it's not tough to have 1000+ units

Most online stores have 20% off only, 25% at the max. You won't find a place with 30% usually except probably the UK.

Think of it as a tip. You tip your restaurants 20% all the time, or minimum 15% unless you're some cheap faggot scum of the earth who deserves neither food, sustenance, nor wargames, so why wouldn't you consider tipping your FLGS 20% for the service of letting you use their table, terrain, and property?

Death Company work best as MSU ("Multiple Small Units") instead of one large squad in most situations, but with the DC Chappy there he may just make them choppy enough for it to work. Just make sure the enemy has other things to deal with (the Tacs and Termies) before moving your boys in black up the board.

Other than that, the list looks fine. I'd Combat Squad the Tacticals to separate the Heavy Flamer and the Meltagun as they should be going for separate types of targets (infantry and vehicles respectively). You might want to drop the DC with the Thunder Hammer to buy some Locator Beacons on the drop pods so you can place numerous beacons, allowing for multiple, simultaneous and devastating offensive deep strikes that don't scatter. You already have a ton of Thunder Hammer's on the Termies anyway. Give him a Power Lance if you really feel it's necessary. It'll allow hit to strike at S6 AP3 at I5 with a ton of attacks and reroll both To Hit and To Wound rolls.

Good luck on your game fellow BAnon

Do you want to save 30% and have no shop to play at, or pay full price and have one? It's really up to you. If everyone thought like you the store wouldn't carry GW stuff anymore and only M:tG. The store had to pay 50-60% just to buy the product, in addition to the money they have to pay for the paint racks, because GW requires those and don't provide them for free. Check OP for list builder.

Things are pretty big right now. Business-wise Kirby left and prices are improving. Not cheap, but better. A lot of affordable starter boxes and shit. Pretty good overall.

Tabletop-wise, not much different. Eldar are OP. Daemons, Genestealer Cults, and Space Marines are top-tier. Tau and Necrons are strong. Most other stuff is middling. Orks and Nids are pathetic. Chaos Spessmen got a big buff with their new codex supp, Traitor Legions. Death Guard looks really powerful in particular.

Fluff-wise, big changes. I won't list every retcon and addition, but recently
>Fenris was attacked by a returning Magnus and the Thousand Sons. Chaos won, Fenris got destroyed mostly.
>Harlequins and GSC are back in mainstream fluff
>New supp called Fall of Cadia is going to feature the 13th Crusade hitting [spoilers]what the hell do you think[/spoiler]

Overall things are looking up. Everyone's a bit worried of Sigmarization but I don't think it's coming personally.

>Costs 2000+ points and requires every admech model
>Except, choose either a Dragoon or Balistarii

>New combined book comes out next month
>Literally stapled the two books together
>Adds the Fall of Cadia additions
>Try to not think about how much money you spent as you toss away three books
>Big benefit of having all units in one CAD so nobody complains

>Everyone is sad at the lackluster Admech releases

Where's the best place to order 40k stuff online in the US?

I live in BFE and there are no actual stores around here.
>>
>>51061519
Waiters aren't paid minimum wage in the USA. They can have wages as low as $2.50 or $3.50 an hour. Their income can be over 75% based on tips.

>well restaurants should actually pay them their due then
>well they should find another job then

It's not that easy for everyone. And then you factor in having to deal with complete asshat customers.
>>
>>51061519

Not tipping is an asshole move in the states.
>>
>>51061653
actually restaurants have to pay full minimum wage if the waiter doesn't get tipped enough to make it in an hour.
>>
>>51061653

Waitstaff are required to earn their state's minimum wage in states that have a separate tipped minimum wage. If their wages plus tips equals less than the state's minimum their employer is required by law to cover the difference.

>>
>>51061629
At this point I would be glad if they just got rid of the fuckers. All they do is just make the roster look bigger than it really is, because you would never take them unless forced.

Orks are shit, but at least they are shit mostly relative to eachother, so nothing is a definite "I would never take that in a million years" Electropriests are just completely superfluous, I have literally never seen an actual physical model of them, let alone seen a game with them being used.

I tinkered a little more with it and added some infiltrators. I'd really like to run some Kastelans but they're so damn expensive. RIP.

GW has made progress in the whole "interacting with the fanbase" thing, but all it's done is showcase how little they actually care for the game.

Prices are pretty much the same. Yes, there are new discount boxes, but they aren't any better than the old battle forces and random army boxes.

Rules are worse than ever. They've decided that spamming as many books as possible is the model to shoot for, so every faction has a gajillion books each with one or two tidbits, and 90% of them are either full of errors or laughably imbalanced.
>>
>>51062140

I'm not the one who took it out, and the demand for people to remove it and stop using it outweighs the couple of newfags who ask about it. AND it clutters the thread with unreadable, shitty, incorrect army lists, so what reason do you have to put it in other than clueless faggots ask about it?

They don't sell most twinlinked dreadnought components. It's just explained that it has them on deployment.

It's good/bad, really. On the good side, you get all kinds of fun ideas for how they look because there's nothing official. On the other hand, you can't buy an obviously available component.

You can buy third party ones though. Dunno about the flamer specifically.

It's not exactly uncommon

I mean shit, Electros are designed to come up to units of 20.

TWENTY

I like it, but personally I would use an Exterminator for the buddy of the Tank Commander and use the split fire rule. BS3 with 1 shot blows. With the saved points you could give the Tank Commander Multi-Meltas too and then the Exterminator buddy Heavy Bolters.

So like

Tank Commander, Vanquisher, Lascannon, Multi-Melta sponsons - 195
Exterminator, Heavy Bolter sponsons - 150

Vet Squad, 3 Meltas, Chimera -155
Vet Squad, 3 Meltas, Chimera -155

Leman Russ 150
Leman Russ 150

That's like 45 points left. You could give the Tank Commander and buddy Camo netting, and maybe another tank camo netting, or you could get an Enginseeer with Melta Bombs to fix tanks.
>>

Well I was taking the Grav Destroyers because I lacked anti tank. But I suppose 12 haywire shots or the torsion Cannons might do the job too.

>>
>>51062531
Unless you are fighting Orks, haywire is always better and even then Haywire would still probably do just as well. Torsion cannons are for when you are up against Tau suit spam lists and want to just mulch a riptide in one shot.

I'd never play at a store in a big city. Everything I hear about them is that it's all fatass neckbeards who stink like ass.

Your best bet is to get a few people together and start a legit gaming group/club, just rent out a cheap office space or hall somewhere, charge everyone a yearly fee to cover the cost of rent and other shit you'll need (club tables, terrain, a minifridge, etc).

You can play whenever you like without having to worry about store hours, you don't have to worry about making too much noise if it's late at night, etc etc etc. If your local store sucks and you can't do garagehammer than a gaming club is the objectively best way to go.

Well, I have 2 shops in my area. The one has the YGO wall of stank, and its B A D bad, and it hovers around the players. Saturdays are almost unbearable, especially in the summer. The magic crowd is remarkably clean because most of them are a little older with semi-decent jobs.

The other store has the smell policy. They're almost exclusively commander with a small Internet café attached. The players at this store are eerily cliche. Like, there is someone for almost every single stereotype associated with TTG, including "Kid who only wears a suit," "Insufferable blob with condescending tones," and "that one Asian kid." They're pretty cool, though. This is where I occasionally get my game with KDK newb. It's pretty chill.

Remember Chimeras can tank shock onto the board if need be!), or Draconian (So your infantry screen is hard to break!).

Not OP, but lots of potential.

I'm your friendly gaming store long haired goth chaos player. I wear a trenchcoat, shoot up schools and don't afraid of anything.
>>
>>51063993

That's one we don't have, actually, but instead we have an unusually high number of females.

Also, we lack fedoras, which is nice.
>>
>>51063792
>my random bullshit weapon should be able to remove 400 points from the field in one shot because reasons

EW wouldn't be such a big deal if there weren't so many stupid as fuck ID or other instant removal weapons out there. Like the Wolfbus and it's dumbfuck laser that ID'd Magnus on the Warhammer Live stream. It's funny but why the fuck does some random flyer have that shit?
>>
>>51064007

As a Sisters player, EW matters a lot more at T3. All it takes is a single failed save and you lose your warlord to almost everything. That's why I switched tons canoness + FCP command squad a long time ago. I'm glad it caught on

>>
>>51064030

Females, actually. Two are fat, the rest are on the small side.
>>
>>51064007
Have you considered sacrificial pawns? Also, as another anon said, having your infantry get vaporized by an anti-tank weapon isn't exactly bullshit. Chunky Salsa rule and all that.
>>
>>51064069
The discussion is on HQs, particularly highly expensive ones.

I don't care about random Infantry, but having your 400 point HQ hunted and killed in 1 shot from Ms Frizz's Magic Wolfbus is a wonderful way to make the 400 point HQ a joke
>>
>>51063904
Reminds me of mine. Shit. I love the store, decent selection, but the employees are condescending assholes if you don't play Heroclix or MTG.

I'm aboutta get my hands on a Deredeo, but it comes with the Plasma canons. Are they shit? Also, what's the best weapon of the three available for the Deredeo? Autocanon looks best desu.
>>

How the fuck did anything managed to ID Magnus?
He has eternal warrior doesn't he?

if a unit of riptides has one of them novacharge for the 4d6 assault move, is it wasted or does it confer to hte other 2 models?
>>
>>51064090
Perhaps. But then maybe you shouldn't be spending 400 points on a single anything. It's overly ridged outside of apocalypse, leading to a case of curbstomp or curbstomped.
>>
>>51064278
All part of Tryzan's evil plan to catch-em'-all!

>Abaddon has unleashed the full might of his thirteenth Black Crusade and little hope remains. On Cadia itself, Ursarkar Creed and manifold Imperial forces mount a desperate defence, and they are soon to be joined by the strangest and most powerful of allies. Their arrival spurs a chain of events that will change things forever – the pylons will fall, the Eye will open, and a storm will come.

Yup

So I took an anon's suggestion for Breachers and Holy Requisitioner. Seems like a good idea. How's this look for 1500? Also still not super sold on Dragoons over Ballistarii or vise versa. I might run one of each first.

>Well maybe you should never use it because we can't bother to give it a trait that Space Marine sergeants can buy and have to give the yiffbus a special snowflake uberdeath laser?

Also, you know that since they're releasing this flood of Primarch tier models some of them will have EW and be fantastic and used all the time while others won't and will never appear.

The plan to save up and buy a Ferrari into the afterlife only works if they have plenty of souls saved up and unfortunately some asshole just spent a huge chunk of their savings on an old General Motors.

And then a bunch of black guys wrecked the car with power-bats.

I'm a scrub who just started building tau. Do I want to give my fire warriors grenades or nah? I decided on rifles so far but I don't know anything about the rules yet and don't want to read the book before I start painting. For the love of God read your book, and then read the rulebook. Then do it again. This is too expensive of a hobby to be fucking about.

cheers. probably the answer I needed. I'm just gonna paint and add them If I need later. It seems so far that knowing the rules and how an item works is completely different to knowing if something is good or not. When playing if your guys have them do you have to play the game as though they have them or can you actually play as though they don't have them?
>>
>>51064632

>>
>>51064911
everything I know about tau is from the dawn of war games. so probably absolutely nothing in relation to the tabletop game.

Most people won't care about grenades. If you give them the wrong guns, some people may complain. But there's nothing in the rules about it.
>>
>>51064948
Well at least you know something. Please read your books before painting. There's stuff to know if you're in this for the lore too and not just the game.

Sept colours/markings etc. Shit that's not really essential, but proves you're less of a stereotype.
