The hell are you high on? You're about to be included in a big upcoming event you'll get shit for sure.
>>
>>51032858

They're not even the stars of the show. They're Celestine's tagalong manwhores. Nevermind being expendable dogs of the Inquisition.

What?! Since when do the Templars ever work for the Inquisition they'd sooner stab them into chunky fucking salsa than do what they say!
>>
>>51032972
All modern day GW sees is holy orders so naturally they need to team up.
>>
Black Templar a shit.

This is an open question to anyone

How do you handle them charging maybe 6 or 7 times what somthing is worth? Iv wanted to get into warhammer but man, them charging 50$ for 5 plastic figures that cost a couple cents to manufacture kills it for me. And their paints being like 5 each for those little things.
>>
>>51033295
I play the roleplaying games and read the fluff.
>>
>>51032972
all the time. Templars are big on crusades and inquisitors call up cruaades from time to time.
>>
>>51033190
well they are both armed forces of the same faction.>>51033
>>

>Since when do the Templars ever work for the Inquisition

Since forever, even in their codex they have the Vinculus Crusade which is Templars, Sisters and an Inquisitor destroying a cult thats trying to summon a demon.
>>
>>51033295

Buy off eBay if you want easy savings.
Buy used models and scrub if you're fucking poor.
Buy from your local store and from Forgeworld if you want to support the hobby with your disposable income.
>>
>>51033295
>what somthing is worth?

Worth to who? If you think $50 a month is expensive then dont buy it, a ton of people think its a price they are willing to pay.
>>
>>51033295
>them charging 50$ for 5 plastic figures that cost a couple cents to manufacture

because they cost a lot more than that to manufacture.
raw meterials is only a small part of production costs. You've got molds to pay for, factories to run and their attendant costs you have to pay all the designers and artists plus there's all the staff in the supply chain and stores to pay. GW are international so there's various taxes and tarrifs to deal with as well that the prices have to cover.
>>
>>51033430

I'm currently spending $500 a month on my weekday food budget. $50 a month is like a mere pittance compared to that. Nevermind how you're ultimately investing into a reusable army if you're into gameplay, and essentially fancy canvasses if you're into painting.
>>
>>51033316
>>51033295
The Vidya too.
>>
>>51033430
Think you missed my meaning, your paying 50$ for somthing that cost almost nothing to make.

Same issue as paying 300 for a pair of glasses that cost 10 to make. Because Luxoittica has a monopoly on glasses and can charge whatever they want and people will pay it like asshats.

You wana pay for do it, just weird to me no one else takes issue with it
>>
>>51033465

>Think you missed my meaning, your paying 50$ for somthing that cost almost nothing to make.

Your made-in-China t-shirt cost $2 to make (probably less) but you paid $10 for it anyway. I don't see how your argument makes any sense.
>>
>>51033435
Fair, parhaps it is more. But are they are overcharging? By atleast 2 or three times. I would say so.
>>
>>51033480

They are overcharging. But thats their business model and thats how they've floated for three decades. I can hate it but I can also respect it.
>>
>>51033477
I take it you would pay whatever and it doesnt matter. Thats interesting. Have you paid over 100 for a peice of plastic no bigger then your thumb?
>>
>>51033496

Are you fucking accusing me of having small hands mate????
>>
>>51033480
>But are they are overcharging? By atleast 2 or three times. I would say so.
to a certain extent when talking about luxuries you can't meaningfully say if a price is overcharging or not simply because theres to much subjectivity attached to the value of them.

that asside GWs financial reports the last few years have shown they only make an overall proffit of 10-15%. They can't sell the minis for much less and still be a viable buisness, halving the cost is just way out.

In short, GW costs alot because they do all their manufacturing in the British Isles/America and then exports, instead of having cheap chinese outsourced casters.

I got what you're saying, but in business there are more things to consider that the price of materials.

Let's say you got to a cafe and all you order is a glass of water. It costs nothing to produce a glass of water, but the waiter has to be paid, rent on the building has to be paid, taxes and bills, the person who cleans the dishes has to be paid, and on it goes. For you to sit in the cafe and drink your free water, the owner would actually be at a loss.

There's lots of expenses that goes into getting those minis on those shelves that has to be passed on to the consumer for the business to profit.

The return that you get is not just a bunch of plastic things, but you get the pleasure of painting them, countless battles, access to new social circles to make new friends and the simple pleasures of expanding and watching your army grow.
>>
>>51032972

They don't get along in this campaign though. The templars are following a saint while the inquisitor believes saints are false idols.

They are working together to fight chaos though.
>>
>>51036190
Well, given that the Perrys do the same and end up with 5 times less expensive minis with the same casting quality I'd say the problem lies in GWs business model rather than UK prices.
>>
>>51036845
>It costs nothing to produce a glass of water
It does.
>>
>>51035128
>They can't sell the minis for much less and still be a viable buisness
Their high prices is one thing that has caused other war games to go up in popularity. Lower prices = more sales. Not to mention the barrier for entry with GW products is massive, keeping new blood from coming in.

What army are you playing that you're paying 50$ for 5 models? Because that's either an elite army or unit that would require you to have substantially fewer guys or you just making shit up.

>Lower prices = more sales
only to a certain extent and it can't counted on.

GW can't garauntee its shareholders that a say 20% drop in price will result on a a 20+% rise in sales. So it's never going to fly.
GW are about average in price anyway for what they are.
the higher barrier to entry simply stems from being a battalion on battalion scale game instead of a squad skirmish game. Though lately thats changed with killteam coming back and AoS scaling down well..
>>
>>51036948
perry don't do quite the same thing.
they don't have the attendant costs of writers and artists mainting a fictional setting.
plus they don't have to cover the distribution costs or maintain a network of physical shops themselves.

GW prices were out of control. Now with a new CEO they're starting to come back within reason.

Just compare to any other miniatures company. Even ones with far less volume of sales charge less than GW.

>>

not for comparable minis. Its really only the tanks and characters that GW is notably more expensive for.
Gws infantry is usually in the ~$5 each range which is at the cheaper end for fantasy/scifi of comparable quality.
GWs big monsters are at times significantly cheaper than the competition, something like a tyrgon or ogre stone horn is only a little smaller than a warmachine collosal but less than half the price.
>>
>>51048693

It always amuses me how people say "look at other miniatures, they're so much cheaper than GW".

What? The $15 X-Wing? The $10 Infinity? The $10 Warmachines? They're all more expensive than the GW Cadians and marines. It's literally $2 MSRP for a snapfit Cadian.
>>
>>51047943
I'm not defending them I'm just pointing out that they're not just sitting there putting on some absurdly huge markup because they hate us.

Do you even know this setting ?
Inquisition is basically just under the emperor. An inquisitor can have total control on any chapter if he want to. Oh and you refuse ? well its heresy and you know have 10 chapter up your ass and an exterminatus for your home planet.

Spoiler alert, Vader is Luke's father in another known setting
>>
>>51033480

Take an economics class before talking about this kind of stuff. They are charging what the market will bear. It's what every company does, and it's what every company SHOULD do. GW's goal is to generate as much profit as they can, not to bring you the cheapest miniatures possible.
>>
>>51047943
>GW, a minature wargame and models company, focuses on it's wargames and models instead of funding movies and such
>anon thinks this is somehow bad of GW
Guess what fucktard, only a complete moron would
>literally just throw money at him and people like him who are actual fans of the setting and will thus do it justice but also know what they fuck they're doing so the end product isn't shit?"'
Do you understand how much money that would cost GW? They've taken the right route by dou g what they're doing now: sell the lisence to people willing to pay, and if someone wants to use the IP, they can (like that fan movie), but they sure as hell aren't making any cash if GW doesn't get a cut.
Instead of doin that, they've spent the last year or so actually trying to clean up their act through things such as
>Bringing back specialist games
>start collecting
>traitor legions rules
>giving AoS points, trying to fix the abortion of a game that it is
>GSC
>Deathwatch codex
>all the boxed games which actually save you money (and aren't half bad ruleswise)
>interacting with the fanbase
>embracing modern technology such as facebook and youtube
>bringing back the monthly form of WD
>the new basic squad plus transport boxes that save you a good deal of cash
>plastic fucking sisters
To act like GW is still some horrible evil entity is the pinnacle of retardation.
>>
>>51033295
Buy it from brick and mortar stores that sell GW products, but aren't GW.

The money I'm spending is going to help support the store, with only a fraction of it going to GW itself, and then they'll split that up for a variety of reasons. But the important thing is that I'm supporting an institution I like, with a social group that I enjoy being with. And I can't honestly think of the last time a store made me feel that way - like I wanted to get to know the people in it, and genuinely wanted to support their business and keep them around. Not just somewhere I stopped inside of, grabbed something from, and got out.
>>
>>51048791
The inquisition has checks and balances
Believe it or not but there's an ordo that basically works as the internal affairs of the Inq. (Which would make for a bitchin dark Heresy game btw). Essentially, inquisitors can petition a chapter for help but ultimately it's up to what the gravity of the situation is.
