So I'm reading through Spheres of Power and it's... dense. Super dense. I can see some of the appeal but goddamn there's a lot of moving parts in this.

Personally, save that one line, the archetype gives most of what I'd want out of it; it's straightforward, no-nonsense, exactly-what-it-says-on-the-tin... Almost.

It does lack a tiny bit of its full name, I guess you could say. I'd suggest granting them that far-shot from legendary kineticists 1 (the +50% range with a hit penalty) and maybe alter targeted strikes a little; the save penalty thing ain't bad, but if you don't want it big, maybe if the onslaught part helped with things we usually give up on due to being too penalized? Basically put the 'sniper' in the archetype.

We're getting good numbers of blasts out of it, and that's certainly as-promised, so maybe just something that supports "well it's a metric fuckton of shots". Something like the gunslinger's targeted shot maybe, as a bonus for getting 10/15/20+ hits on the same guy? Put in some small but generally useful penalties, to compensate for not completely crashing the saves, and instead of just yet-more-damage?

Maybe 'suppressive fire' lets you give aid-another bonuses to friendlies attempting to intimidate or do combat maneuvers; they may not want to get disarmed but they're being kept hella busy all the time?

I know why they put it there, it's to help cap damage as a whole, but I don't think the archetype needs it with some of the flexibility that it's giving up. I need to look over it all more as a whole (I spent a day in the hospital and another in agony), as we were supposed to get new content onto it yesterday (that's weds now). Right now the basic ability already gives more damage for hitting multiple times, so I'd like for the 9th level ability to do something different, although I'm still up in the air as to what.

The base kineticist's damage was crap; the base ability - again, if we ignore that "you can never deal more damage than a regular kineticist's normal blast" thing - is certainly dishing out plenty of damage, certainly runs clean in the numbers, does what it should.

I'm starting to think "team-friendly suppression" might be a good way. The question though is how to apply it; whatever we focus-fire should be (like any other "archer" type) quite dead so it's no help to also give it a penalty...

How about every 5 shots on someone gives a -1 CMD and vs intimidate against other (not the onslaught volley) actions until the beginning of your next turn, in, say, a 10' radius? You can stack it when everyone sees Joe turn into messy pulp, or spread it to force 2-3 groups to keep their head down just a bit with -1s and later -2s?

Carriage return (hitting Enter) when a new person starts talking is generally something that gets recommended, because it breaks up the giant-ass paragraphs you've got going on.

There're also a few mistakes like switching a comma for a full stop, and a few slightly awkward sentence constructions (like 'Gomja realizing he was still holding a weapon, muttered a quick apology and dropped his axe to the ground and traversed the weird field of spikes to get to the woman.').

I'm not exactly an English major, though, so there's probably something I haven't thought of that's making me think it's bad. Reading it back to yourself out loud, recording it, and playing it back is also a thing that can reveal where it sounds awkward.

As a rogue (or any other class) with sneak attack, hitting a flat footed enemy with a spell attack (that requires rolling) within 30 feet counts as a sneak attack, right?

So, shocking grasp, chill touch...pretty nice stuff for your thief 1, wizard 3 (accomplished sneak attacker), arcane trickster...but at a range it gets even better.

So how about scorching ray at caster level 12 (aka lvl 13), would an incapacitated/blinded/surprised/flanked enemy take up to 3 rays of 10d6 damage, 4d6 from the ray, 6d6 from sneak attack.

it's a port and re-tool of the Dread Necromancer from DnD 3.5, with a lot more customization inherent to it. New feats for beefing up your minions, much expanded HD pool so you can be THE skeleton master (and you can just choose to dump those HD levels into a few full blown terrors, rather than a skeleton horde) and generally it feels good.

it helps that Bloody Skeletons - which would be your bread and butter with this class anyways - cost Double HD. It gives you tighter margins to work with, which is good for game pacing. Slap on the undead enhancement feats and you have something at about the power level of the juju zombies without needing the juju.

They're pretty bleh, and other than the touch--resolution range often a bit weaker than the ancient ones (paizo: the more complex the tech the shittier they make it. It even starts back at crossbows).

However, there are a few ... special cases.

The Machineguns are incompatible with most damage feats and damage everything whose touch-AC they match or beat in a line out to max range. They even penetrate barriers and the like if they can deal at least one point of damage to it. Shit gets hilariously fucked up when combined with something like the Solar Reflection series of maneuvers, or Silver Crane Spiral.

It's very different as getting your damage requires things like an Aegis; you can't Deadly-Aim a machinegun, but if you're willing to explore the alternative damage upgrade sources, you can have yourself a very interesting method of attack.

Wizard. Necromancers, bloodmages and pyromancers

While the Avowed and new Kineticist archetypes (look at the top!) are right up my alley, my favorite class has for a long time been the Aegis (DSP psionic).

Full BAB but no weapon-training bonuses or the like, the Aegis is a massive customizable pseudo-armor (or skin-type non-armor if you wanna wear some) that offers numerous bonuses; for the most part passive or semi-passive.

It's incredibly versatile - in fact a bit TOO much, being able to access limited amounts of Akashic(incarnum) Veilweaving, Path of War (Bo9S) initiating, and even pseudo-manifesting through harness-power-stone(psionic scrolls) which allows it to reuse them as if they were known powers when installed. It does not offer to-hit bonuses like most frontline warriors, but instead offers size-upgrades and integral enhancement bonuses to stats, making it a favorite of gun or crossbow users.

It can do damn near anything, and well at that, putting it pretty much at the peak of the Tier 3s; but if you're worried you can limit yourself to just a tiny touch of all but one of the subsystems and come out fine.

It's also a superb dip for all those oldstyle fighters, monks and rogues who were losing all their money just trying to keep up with mobility and other basic adventuring; Aegis offers good options for movement and environmentals.

Ninja barely gets a pass because it can actually do stuff with its Ki pool, but it's still a joke. The point isn't that there's NOTHING that uses Charisma, you pedantic faggot, it's that it doesn't do anything well enough to warrant caring about the stat in most cases. A Bloodrager could very well survive with just 10 Cha, because he only needs enough to qualify to cast his highest spells at best. A scaled fist is a monk, and a swashbuckler is a swashbuckler.

Bloodrager's also benefit from Bloodline Powers and such. Bonus spells and extra DC's are always nice, even if they're going to be self buffing most of the time.

Yea, there's lots of stuff that uses Charisma. They fill lots of concepts, but I'd like there to be more options. There's plenty of Int/Wis things that do what I want. Why am I suddenly a greedy asshole for wanting something Cha-based that does a similar thing to one of those Int/Wis classes?

I don't see it as greedy (not the original answerer) but I just find it to be false that there are too few things to do with charisma. For me, it is probably the most used mental stat for variant systems, more than int and wis (which are more useful of themselves, though).

If you want to do something that doesn't exist and your DM is cool with that, more power to you.

The thing is, Cha is useful only if you are using it for your class features or you want to be your party's face. Even then you need Int for skill point to actually invest in social skills and Wis because it gives you bonus to very important save, Perception and Sense Motive. Cha is VERY dumpable.
