I use to play the table top warhammer fantasy 6 years ago or so and i really enjoyed it more than 40k because i liked the playstyle of flanking better with more possible strategies, but ive been skeptical to get back into it and i was wondering if i should? get back into either warhammer fantasy or warhammer 40k

Fantasy is kill.
They replaced setting with He Man
>inb4 anti 40k shills come
But a couple of models and try out Kill Team for 40k.
Lords of War lets you use Fantasy models so there is that.

Fantasy is dead, and despite all my wishes doesn't look like it'll ever come back.
Get the Total War game, even with DLC it'll be less expensive and more fun than the tabletop anyways.

There is an unofficial set of WF Rules called the 9th Age, didn't play them though. If Flanking (and I assume) manouvering is more to your likings, then try Kings of War. It's free and in the core a version of Warhammer that has been stripped of all unneeded weight. I really, like it.
40k is doing fine, but I wouldn't jump into it untill next edition.
